when Inga and Alvin started saying Chinese words Andrew and Rie's faces are like "Mmmm yes, words"
@Ku Shu what about it lol
Get in the JAR
Lmao yes 😂
Rie understands the words though she’s not just nodding
@@Emivibes96 she can speak mandarin too ?
Andrew is starting to look more and more like the Pringles can man.
the old logo, not the new abomination 🤚😩
@@ryanchon8702 istg why is every company oversimplifying their logos
😂 totally agree
Lol love this
😭😭😭😭😭😂
I really love how minimalistic this video is. No music, no fancy editing, just 4 buddies chatting about their tofu. Weird concept, but I kinda wish I could live in an apartment that gave off the same vibes as this video lol.
god same lmao, my one wish in life tbfh
We've actually been chatting with a handful of friends about moving in together for reasons just like this... Humans have lived in little communities for a long time, sometimes as families, sometimes as friends. I think the modern human misses the bond of that.
i knooooow right! i wish i have this group of friends coming over and just talk about how to cook tofu in many different ways!
They respect one another
Andrew and Rie were like parents watching their kids Inga and Alvin explain their 5 year old abstract drawing (´∩。• ᵕ •。∩`)

That's exactly what i thought. Such pleasant, talented people.

22:22 Inga would agree 😊
Rie*
Rie's concept of "bite size" remind me of the "two shots of vodka" meme and I honestly love it
LMAOO
Andrew noticing the dinosaur spoon and Inga getting excited over it makes me really happy
Everyone: Yes, Brontosaurus!!
Rie: *having dino nugget flashbacks*
Alvin with his cream cheese, bagel, and Dino nugget snack
andrew kinda ribbed inga for strawberry puree..then says " i made my own tofu" 😂😂😂
oh no that's so true LMAO
When Inga said "nothing is ever as good as grandparent's"... so true! My grandma's bread, my grandpa's grilled chicken. They just do it right.
Every Korean has fond memories of their grandmother making kimchi fried rice for them when cramming for exams.
According to Mark Bittman, THIS is the nostalgic food in immigrant families.
They have a lot of practice and teach you what is possible if you keep at it. :)
@@TheNinnyfee Yes! I love cooking with my grandparents. :D
@@mollyscozykitchen4693 Do it as often as you can. Those are the memories that last forever. ❤
Im crying cause it's true grandparents do it better
I was waiting for Andrew's comment and he didn't disappoint "cheesecakes de-prioritize the sweetness in dessert". He has the mind of a German philosopher and I'm here for it
This channel is insanely underrated! Such quality.
it'll have more or less the same quality as buzzfeed or tasty
They pretty much are BuzzFeed/Tasty. Do you even see BuzzFeed in your feed anymore?
The Try Guys, Steve and his pals' channel, and this. They are BuzzFeed.
@@ABCantonese not BuzzFeed but tasty is on my feed
@@ABCantonese the try guys left a long time ago, no?
@@renjihongs5948 Loooooong ago. They're the first bunch to have left as a group and started their own thing that I know of.

Inga’s thought process - imma do the opposite bijes
I really like the lack of music. Makes me feel like I'm close friends with you guys :)
It makes me feel like I'm watching my friends' presentation on a Zoom class 🤣 especially with the "Andrew, I think you're next!" etc ahahah
Definitely i love these videos
I love andrew and his random comments "i love that spoon, tell me more about that spoon"
*eating silken tofu*
"I made silken tofu"
*surprised Pikachu face*
I didn’t realize what silken tofu was until Andrew finished making it. It’s actually one of the main ingredients of a street-food dessert (i think) here in the Philippines. It’s called Taho. So if you add tapioca pearls and brown sugar syrup to the silken tofu, then you have Taho.
That's very close to what you get in Southern China. It's cool, some minced ginger is added along with some brown sugar.
Although I haven't been back in decades and they probably add boba now.
Ahh i dont know if u guys already know about this but in Indonesia we have similar dish called Tauwa/Wedang Tahu (or other name in different regions). It is a bowl of silken tofu served with toasted peanut and warm sweeten ginger water (am i wrote it correctly?? Lol)
And yes... In Indonesia Tahu means Tofu, so frickin similar with Tagalog
Beancurd! Usually served with sugar syrup
We got that too in Malaysia, we call it taufu fa. Usually served with palm sugar syrup or sometime just plain sugar syrup, I prefer the first one because the caramel flavour is much more concentrated. And the idea of eating taho with tapioca pearls sure sounds like a fun experience.i want to tried it someday
At this point when I see this series it's just feels like watching some kind of zoom presentation
I love "Tell us what you've made" so much, it's so comforting and provides new recipes/inspirations :D
This episode reminds me of when my girlfriend ordered soy milk and then we kinda forgot about it and it became a little weird texture-wise so she made silk tofu from it and then a cheesecake from said tofu, it was delicious
Genuinely love how excited Inga got when they were talking about her spoon lol
Inga's jawline though! Dam.
Also her makeup is on point and the earrings!
Alvin's too!
Inga and Alvin: **speaks Chinese**
Andrew and Rie: *._.*
When did they speak Chinese ?
I would love a # Ways to use Miso! I always find myself satisfying my usual Miso recipe cravings and having not too many ideas what to cook/do with the remaining 80% paste.
Dunno if you're still stumped for miso uses, but there's miso broth you can make (obviously) and that in itself is very versatile. It can become, in combination with other stuff, very complex soup flavours. You can make miso sauce by adding some vinegar, a bit of soy sauce, and any other flavouring you like (e.g. honey, chili flakes, onion...). This sauce can be used for dipping (though make it runny) or for mixing into a noodle dish or something. Miso peanut butter cookies are quite good, as well. Japanese Cooking 101 (a channel on UA-cam) has a good miso eggplant recipe.
I love how the quarantine situation has made the whole world get into these group project sharing videos. It's so wholesome.
already knew going into this inga was gonna do smth out of the box with the tofu 😂
she’s gotta outdo herself
Ries fried Tofu: I know Manngchi has a fried tofu recpie, she uses starch but does a double fry to get it really crunchy. Boy does it stay crunchy too, like next day it was still crispy.
Alvin's Tofu looks really appetizing, Rie's tofu looks like something you order at a Michelin restaurant, Inga's tofu looks addictive to eat. Andre's tofu is the kind of meal where you question at first and wonder if it tastes good or not.
Mapo Tofu is quite addictive, since the entire meal combines well. The aromas (sesame oil, ginger, garlic) and spiciness (spicies and tobanjan), with meaty texture of tofu and beef (or pork) flavor, topping a great bowl of white rice. Believe, it's worth trying at least once in life.
homemade tofu is one of the best things ever. I even bought a soymilk maker to help me make it, but now I'm also hooked on homemade soymilk -- hot, in a bowl, with Chinese black vinegar to curdle it a bit, homemade chili oil, ground sesame seed and green onion. with some youtiao (savory Chinese donut sticks, which I also make), it's possibly the best breakfast ever. I highly recommend getting a soymilk maker if you like fresh tofu (I have a Joyoung, but there are lots of brands that are also good). you'll never buy soymilk again.
I couldn't stop thinking about how I would LOVE to have Andrew's dish for breakfast. Instantly went to googling to see if there is a prepared version that can be purchased, which obviously wouldn't stand up to homemade but would hopefully still satisfy the craving? Remains unclear. Glad to see your comment offering advice on how to look into preparing it as well!
@@shelby6278 you want to look for douhua (tofu flower) in a traditional Chinese neighborhood, if you can find it, or a douhua recipe (just make a savory version w/o a sugar syrup -- though the sweet version is amazing as well) or a silken tofu recipe (I prefer gypsum or GDL as a coagulant for silken tofu, but nigari is good also -- you just have to keep the stirring to a minimum when adding the coagulant). the slightly curdled soymilk I mentioned is more of a Shanghainese dish -- you can find a recipe for it on Woks of Life if you search for savory soy milk soup there (they have a legit recipe for youtiao, too).
Me pretending like i know what Rie is talking about whenever she says a Japanese word
Hmmm Alvin's tofu looks so good. My family and I are lacto vegetarian might give it a try with some impossible meat. Thanks for sharing guys sending social distance hugs to you all.
My boyfriend and I are vegetarian and vegan respectively and love making mapo tofu using textured vegetable protein (tvp). I like it better than a mince like impossible meat because it adds more chew. We also love adding shittake mushroom slices in sometimes!
Andrew: Rie, you're plating is spectacular
Alvin and Inga: YOUR'S TOO
All your plates are beautiful, in every food video ya'll produce!
Inga when she gets mustard:
Mustard Ice Cream it is! 😂
Great video! Loved Rei's plating! Alvin's story about his grandpa cooking for his grandkids was so heartwarming. Yay for Grandpa!
You guys should try doing this with yogurt or boba or vanilla
Alvin: "I just listened to my grandpa."
Me: "As well you should. ALWAYS listen to Grandpa!"
The excitement look of Inga at 18:29 asking Rie is just priceless.
I can't count the number of times i've searched for about to eat o youtube with the intentions of seeing a new video with these four
Just subscribe i guess, it will make it easier😅
@@Maariyahuddin 😂😂😂 genius, let me try that too😂
A mortar and pestle example: Koreans have not only ones for toasted sesame seeds but also a larger one for garlic
I really feel like Andrew is just intently watching so he can learn bc he knows this all slaps
I love that all of them don't know what the other person has made before
Their reactions are gold 😂😂😂
YES, i love all the oohs and aahs
Inga - "I wanted to use the soft tofu instead of the hard one because I want the tofu to be softer"
Greatest non-sentence in the channel's history
YES YES YES WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE
This video feels like, i am face timing my extrovert friends, and me an introvert... i'm just listening to them😂
These videos are honestly some of my favorites to watch on this channel. It's always so fun to see everyone's creations!
ugh been waiting for more of this series to come out! can’t wait for more!
i love how the About To Eat acronym is ATE lol
i just noticed lol
I screamed when inga mentioned cooking with dog! Francis & chef!
I love this series so so much, captures the creativity of each person!!!
This is my favorite series so far from this channel. It gives me so many ideas and provides me an inside look of each of their culture, creativity and character.
I hope they keep making more of these.
Love this series. I wish they could taste each other's recipes
I love how insightful this show is, the amount of info I get is surprising in a good way. Imma make mapo tofu later for sure!
I just recently found this channel but watched worth it for a long time. I love these videos so much. Im always excited to see how differently they'll use the ingrediant
Agedashi Tofu and Mapo Tofu, are my top two dishes to make at home, using tofu.
buzzfeed's fantastic four ✊
I do like how everyone has the opportunity to admire and learn from, not only within the ATE group, but from their source of inspiration (thank you, Alvin's grandpa!).
Next time make an episode on ramen noodles 4 ways
i love being introduced to new asian cuisines through this show. it's really refreshing to see !!
I love how Inga is excited throughout the video
This channel is always so inspiring, both in food and in visual composition!
You guys have no idea what kind of an amazing impact you are making by this. Many many thanks for everything you do! I enjoy you and I repeat your recipes and my very (amazing but) choosy family loves it all! Thank you again and thank you again!!!! Please do not every stop!!!!
These videos are by far the best content they have done. Love it.
I appreciate how they got straight to the recipes.
I saw the title and thought I'd skip the episode this week cuz who wants to hear about tofu, but then 30 minutes later and I remembered why this is my favorite channel on UA-cam, great work
This was such a fun vid. Watching 4 friends discuss what they made in such a chill way was very relaxing. And I'm not sure if this was their intent but the lack of music really adds to that vibe.
I love when they give their personal notes of things cause i adjust or accommodate most recipes to my liking. Even if its as small as adding a little more lemon.
i love this series so much
Always so happy to see this vid series! Intriguing foods and love the knowledge sharing
Inga always goes out of the box tho! Like everytime she does something opposite to what is usually done😂 which I really love..... also This show is perfect with all four of them
I really love this channel!! Just friends that love food and cooking. People that say they don't like tofu just haven't had it prepared properly. It's amazing!
I also made a cheesecake tart a few years ago with a NY cheesecake recipe and replaced the lemon with lime. I didn't have another pan at the time. :) It was really nice and you didn't feel overwhelmed by a giant slice. The ratio of crumb to filling was also nice.
I love how excited, supportive and encouraging you are for each other, everybody likes to learn from one another. ❤❤❤
All of them look so awesome! Thank you for the great video :)
Wow this feels like a class and they each give a presentation and learn something from it
I love this CHANNELLLL!! THANK YOUUUUU
love this series 💕
6:35 Andrew's stare and Alvin's are so different. Andrew is staring into my soul. I'm a little creeped out 😅
Rie: I am making _agedashi dōfu_
Alvin and Inga: 👁👄👁
Ooooooooooo
Silken tofu top with a bit of onion oil and shoyu was one of the best things I could eat when I had my jaw wire shut after jaw surgery
Watched this series for the first time today. And I am amazed!!
This seems like it'd be such a fun thing to do with friends! Just getting together and sharing recipes using a common ingredient. Ingredients that might push us to try new recipes and techniques and learn from each other. I just wish I had three other friends who loved to cook too!
This has fast become my favourite kind of episode off this channel!!!!
I love this series
This is just such a nice energy video, thank u guys 🥰
i wanna try all 4! great job guys
alvin n everyone are soooooo kind when inga explains her creation. theyre hyping her up.
Andrew making the Title dish , literally 😂 *TOFU* , unpredictably Smart.
*이 음식은 정말 건강하고 맛있어보이네요. 맨 마지막에 참기름 몇방울 떨어뜨려주면 정말 완벽한 한끼 식사가 될것같아요. 모두들 맛있게 드시고 건강하시길 바래요.This food looks really healthy and delicious. A few drops of sesame oil at the end will make a perfect meal. I hope you all eat deliciously and stay healthy.*
I bought tofu today and here comes 4 recipes! Excited 😁
Great video 😊❤️ it’s fun watching all of you guys interacting. I’m definitely trying out these recipes 😁😋.
Going to make this for dinner for the family. Thank you for showing me what I can make for my family with ease.👏🤤
11:30 Mortar and pestle is called cobek and ulekan here in Indonesia. In my region it's made of a slab of stone. It's so heavy. The pestle looks like a horse leg 🤣 It's not straight up and down but more horizontal and slanted downward at the end, hence the horse leg comparison.
I like how Andrew was using the usual wired earphones while everyone else was using airpods. Me too Andrew, me too.
They don't try too hard to integrate and learning various cultures. Always love seeing all of them just listening and supporting each other, no one overtalks each other. They also empower their suppliers and give credit when it's due to those who have or inspired the recipes.
I love the concept of this show!
how about something as simple and as flexible as egg? im curious what you guys can come up with!! :))
I always look forward to this show
Guys, make a video around mochi. I remember an episode of Worth It whose main dish is fish. Steven actually asks what else can be crusted with mochi after eating the mochi-crusted fish. It's gonna be great.
Alvin is such a mood eating whenever you want to
RIE IS SUCH A GOOD AND CREATIVE CHEF AND I M HERE FOR IT . LOVE YAAAA ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ooh that tip about using konbu and katsuobushi leftovers for onigiri is super useful, thank you Rie!
