I agree with anything Brassavola as a parent... the roots are of a different caliber and in some of mine, I am still tinkering with set up options. That's why I don't have an anceps... no humidity where I am at, and with that climbing habit, it would not be an ideal combination. Love the blooms as well though 👍🏼 beautiful blooms to treat everyone at the end ... gorgeous 😍 ❤🙌🏼❤
Thank you Nina! I love brassavola crosses but they definitely do not like constant moisture so I have to make sure I keep it on the dry side which, as you say, is a difficult balance to achieve. I’m so excited to see how well my Cattleya’s have done since I put them in this new set up. They are growing so fast I’m going to need to divide and repot several of them. I’m actually excited about that, I’m looking forward to seeing the root growth in the pot.
I enjoy your orchid videos very much. I miss growing several orchids now being a snowbird but I have two..I have Hawaiian Wedding Song in Florida. She was a Lowes bag baby two years ago and has grown quite a bit. Hoping for blooms in a year or two. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Thank you 😊 most of them need a repot but that’s good because it means they are happy growing plants! Mari’s Glory is a beautifully fragrant orchid and a regular bloomer which is great! Nice to have a few non fussy ones in the bunch. 😉
I'm growing my cattleyas semi-water culture without beads or any other media. Mines are mostly seedlings and a division. What I'm finding is that cattleyas don't like algae, especially the seedlings. They are growing new roots and new growths. But I think I'll have to wait at least another 1 or 2 years to see any blooms from my bigger seedlings.
I used to grow mine without the glass beads. Once I started using them though they did so much better so I think my plants enjoy having something to anchor themselves to. Water culture is so great! So many possibilities for growing. Something for everyone. Happy growing! I hope your seedlings continue doing well for you!
