  • My Phalaenopsis are very happy this year and I wanted to share them with you.
    There are also quite a few other types in spike or bloom.
    I hope you enjoy the bloom tour!

    I just received my first orchid as a mother's day gift from my son. Your three part videos on water culture gave me encouragement to think I just might be able to grow it. Thank you.

      This orchid wouldn’t bloom for two years, now, she won’t stop blooming. She was definitely worth the wait!

      That is puzzling to me too but I guess it’s a personal preference thing. I love them!
      You can tell by how many I have 😊

      Yes! It caught a gnat the first day I had it and now it’s got quite a few. I top it off with R/O water every few days. The good thing is the little rocks on the top get lighter when it gets dry so I can know by looking at it if it needs water.

    Anyone that thinks Phals are boring needs to see your grow room. I don't fall into that category, so I know just how beautiful they are, and I'm constantly amazed by your growing skills. That Karin Aloha is downright gorgeous! And those Tolumnias...omg. Thanks again, for sharing all this beauty!

      I 100% agree! I love Phalaenopsis, they’re so diverse and resilient and if you keep the temperature cool enough their blooms last for months. Not many orchids can claim that ability.
      Thank you so much for watching Eileen! ☺️🌺

    Danielle,
    thanks for all your very informative videos. My WC orchids (began over a month now 5 phals) seem to be fine.
    I’ve been re watching Rick L videos & see where you
    base your knowledge & care of Phals . He made so much sense & was such a good teacher. You are the same & again thank you for teaching me how to do WC.

    Hi Danielle, I am panicking my miniature phal that I had for Mother’s Day lost all its roots except two almost black green ones but they were firm so left them alone, had three leaves left so put in a small glass with a few glass pebbles and I have been doing two days water five days dry and I looked this morning and there is a new leaf I wasn’t sure thought I was seeing things so left it and went to get my glasses and yes definitely a new leaf. Shall I continue the same watering pattern and keep my fingers crossed xxx Margaret

    I don't know if you know this, but there is a plant in potting soil in your grow room next to the pendulum. 🤣 😉
    The heat is murder on the Phal blooms here. I know up north it is common for them to last three or more months, mine last maybe a month.

      I know! Crazy right? That is a beautiful black Calla lily that I got last year.
      I have also not unpotted the orchids I got from Yoshi yet, it’s a topsy turvy world right now 🤣
      I have noticed my Phalaenopsis don’t keep their blooms for nearly as long as they used to because I allow the grow room to get hot for the heat loving orchids. I’m trying higher humidity and lots of moving air this year to see if they will last longer 🤞🏻 I hope so because I really enjoy my wall of blooms!

    Great blooms! Lots of wonderful colors. Love your Prosthechea with the dark blooms. I have one placed in high light but I can't get it to bloom. Any tips?

      I let them dry out between watering and in winter they go several days dry before I water them again. I am not sure if that is what is making them bloom but I also have them in high light, the bulbs are very light green almost slight yellow which means they are getting a lot of light.

    Hi Daniel, when I purchased my orchid from the supermarket it had two spikes both with blooms both also have a wooden stake holding them upright I am wondering whether I can remove these or will that do damage to the spike. I have started the transfer process to water culture and nothing bad has happened since I have buds of which three maybe four are starting to open fingers crossed. Still some bark/debris on roots but I try very carefully to remove when I check the plant over every couple of days I put and inch of water in at the start 4 days ago and it hasn’t changed much really so I will see at the weekend.
    Just would like to take out the stakes but just not sure thank you luv your video’s 😘🥰

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  2 роки тому

      Hello Margaret. You can absolutely take the stakes out however the spikes will not be strong enough to stand up on their own and so they will droop over which will make it difficult to keep the orchid in the container.

    Danielle, so far so good with my WC phals . They are putting out new roots slowly. But the new roots are coming.
    My question: even tho I have new roots coming, I still have to clean off squishy dead places on the old roots. Is this typical when converting? Am doing semi-WC on these. Thx in advance for any help you can give. Oh one other thing, when they get water, it’s always nutrient water usually with CalMag . (once a week with Jacks part A & B)Thanks.

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  2 роки тому

      Hello Georgia, thank you for sharing this update with me!
      Yes, as you transition to WC old unhealthy roots will start to die off. If you are transferring from moss this is especially true.
      Semi WC is the gentlest way to transition because it allows healthy roots to form before all the old roots die off.
      I use Jack’s Cal/Nitrate fertilizer, their products are very good 👍🏻

    Is it best to cut the flowers off this time of year like you’re going to do to your beautiful collection or do we leave them

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  2 роки тому

      I don’t cut them off, I’m sorry if I gave that impression. A Phalaenopsis can keep her blooms for 1-3 months if conditions are right so definitely leave them.

    One other Question: i have a few Orchids that never rebloomed and did not get any roots from the stem, what can i do? Hope you have an idea what i can do Thank you.

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591  2 роки тому

      Are you giving them any dry days?
      It sounds like a contradiction but if an orchid won’t grow roots it’s often a good idea to deprive it of water a few days a week. Then it realizes it needs roots and will produce them.
      I also recommend using a seaweed supplement. It has hormones that trigger things like roots and blooms.

  • @ingridfoessl1075

    I have a Question: how often do you change the water in the Orchids. I had to take mine out of the orchiata bark it had little jumping things in it,so i put them in water culture.
