I'm already gonna schedule a tour. Just across the Bay from here. WhooHoo. People that are into hot rods go to car shows I'm gonna go see this place! LOL
He did say they only remain in those for a few days before shipping, and then from there to people like us, god forbid someone receives the betta and puts in a bowl though -_-
The discus have their own system because that's where the money is, and the Bettas are dime a dozen ..at least they try and they also now allow people tour or film ...at the end of the day they are a business and I can truly say all the people at segrest love fish and probably keep fish so it is what it is¿
How did you accomplish that? I've reached out to them and they require a storefront and won't deliver to a home based business with a business license.
I have a lot respect the facilities at Segrest Farms. They're a lot better than most fish farm/distributors in other parts of the World, however the treatment of their bettas is deplorable...
kindof disappointed with Segrest farms and how they keep bettas, especially considering how they keep all the other fish, I realize they don't need much water but they could easily make a cheap system that would be about a 1000 times better for the bettas then what they get right now >_< I realize how hard it is to keep bettas but come on, how stores keep them suck and it makes for poor care outside of stores as well
MrKazuma52 that's the best way to keep them. You can't keep 2 male bettas together. So it's not logical to have a thousand tanks to house each individual male bettas
PoppingPepsi you can get dividers to separate the Bettas, you can make a system also that would allow for multiple small tanks that feed a central filter. it isn't that difficult and wouldn't take up that much more room but the Bettas would be a lot better. obviously the fact you can't keep two males together makes it harder to keep them in great conditions but not impossible
MrKazuma52 yeah you can get dividers but the space needed to store those bettas would be 50 times more than how they are stored in the video. You have to think of it from a business perspective. It's so much cheaper to store them those containers for 1 or 2 days with fresh water than to have a centralize filtration system. And personal, I think it better to keep them in that container with clean water than put them all on a central filtration system where diseases transfers easily.
PoppingPepsi from a business perspective, you still take care of the animal, no ifs ands or buts. even if you don't want to do a central filter system. a slightly bigger tank wouldn't hurt and wouldn't be that much of an increase in space. also you want the animals to be healthy because they are stock. if you lose an animal, you lose the money on that animal as well
MrKazuma52 Do you think they would keep Betas like that if they lost fish due to that type of storage? You are letting sentiment cloud your thinking. "Aw, those poor little fishes can barely move around. They are probably dying in there. They must be so unhappy"! Yeah, it doesn't work like that. A farm and major shipper does business on keeping their stock alive and unstressed enough to keep survival as high as possible upon delivery and sale. A farm that doesn't maximize their stock survival doesn't make money and eventually goes out of business because people stop buying from them when all the fish that people buy from them die as soon as they arrive. Decades of selling fish teach you how to keep your fish alive and healthy and these farms have learned from all that experience. I have to agree with Pepsi, these people know what they are doing and those Betas are probably in the best place they can be from the perspective of survival and live arrival under minimum stress.
those rocks not worth it for the price when u can pick up same rocks at local landscape yard for cheaper jus gotta wash them I ordered these bio rocks before it's not worth it don't buy any of their products
Exactly what happens to the Bettas that you send for table decorations for weddings...??? Mmm.., let me think. One person at that table takes them hm and then hv no clue how to take care of them. And you say you love fish..! Come on man..., give me a break. You are no better than the large chains that keep them in small crule cups with lids. How f....ing sad..!!
At an event I went to, the waiters just took the vases with the live fish and dumped them in the trash. Alive. I grabbed a few once I saw what was happening, but hundreds of fish were just thrown away at that event :/
My local pet store carries bettas from this place, I got one today, and he is so beautiful! Thank you Segrest Farms! (:

Does Segrest Farms ship to Jamaica. I need many goldfish
How do I import im from south africa bigg fish lover
Why is the water in all the tanks look un-clear???
it's because of the tank actually not the water itself
Do you ship to Jamaica?
the only think i disliked about this video are the bettas treament extreme poorly
He did say they only remain in those for a few days before shipping, and then from there to people like us, god forbid someone receives the betta and puts in a bowl though -_-
That will not be true as a matter of fact, i walked around many fish-farms and im- and exporters, this is the usual way sadly enough!

hehe, I get to order all my salt fish from here, amazing quality. all my fish where under $100, at the store it would of been over $300!

The way they stored the Betta's is awfull, even when they are air-breathers!
