    What are things that can help out to transfer the fishes to another set of pond for growing. Might be nice to have a water filter to kinda limit the water of used however these video has all amazing contents about farming. 🤘👏

    this is the one of the cleanest operation I have seen but please check the feed quality as most of the pellets are loaded with harmful chemicals like Ethoxyquin which is very harmful for plant and animal consumption as well as PCP"S from the concentrated fish oils used in making the fish feed pellets so make sure your feed is made with chemicals which are conducive to good health

    How do they seperate those small frys from their parent fish? I tried doing it with guppies and took me hours just to catch few of them and was a race against time the parent fish keep eating their young.

    • @sanatanar
      @sanatanar 5 років тому

      Safe stocking density is about 80-100kg of fish at the end of growth cycle. That means if you harvest after say 6 months, then per 1000lts you should have about 85-100kgs of fish when you harvest( not when you put the baby fishes, so don't add 85kgs of baby fishes initially ). So basically you can find out how much this species of fish grows at the end of harvest cycle. And you should be fine with that...for all this calculation you need to know how many liters of water your pond can hold.

    His description of what Aquaponics is, is only half there. Yes fish waste to feed plants....and? You clean the water for the fish with the plants...and? Bacteria links the two systems.

    The problem with Tilapia or generally fish farming it that the feed costs + electricity + labor just so match your sales if very well managed, otherwise you are looking at losses...

    • @okamuubaku8863
      @okamuubaku8863 6 років тому +10

      yeeeah ...so all fish farmers are at best on zero or making losses ... sounds very very plausible
      fish farmers are all probably former investment bankers who retired with tons of cash and now they do fish farming as a hobby...because golf is so boring...
      another fairy tale?

      Yes, I have been farming red claw crayfish and tilapia, best location is where you are at a slight elevation with free flowing, clean water that you don't need to pump in our out, ideally in a purpose build facility where you have full predator exclusion ( not so much a problem with fish culture ) Tilapia is usually not worth the effort because of its low market value...

      Anything with claws is cannibalistic. Red claw utilize the bottom surface area of the tank. Fish use the entire volume of the tank. = more lbs/m3= $$$

      first, they are an aquaponics farm, the hatchery is secondary. second, there isnt a hatchery in hawaii. third, tilapia are the gold standard for aquaponics due to how little they eat, how fast they grow, and how easy they are to care for. 4th they have to ship in all the food for the fish they raise, and because they are in hawaii that price is sky high.
      so, they get the fish that is best for them in aquaponics, they corner the market in hawaii selling fish to other aquaponic farmers, and keep their feed prices low. the money they are bringing in on organic lettuce in hawaii dwarfs the sales of fish.

      a lot of people working an that part. i know from companies that started tests with flies and other insects with a high proteine profile. its a small market right now, that will get big. maybe worth to invest in it ;)

    • @boomshine7
      @boomshine7 6 років тому

      but to feed the flies or their larvae you need other food/waste imput, we are just too much in this world to support, we can't make food (the same nutrient value) from nothing

    Have you ever wonder, when you eat your Greens / Salad or Tomatoes.... You taste this " Fishy Taste / Smells " ??? Hmmmmmmmmmm... BAMMMMMMM !!! LOL

    • @BadgerLaser
      @BadgerLaser 6 років тому +1

      close - commercial hydroponic growers sometimes use fish emulsion to feed
      salad crops hence why it tastes disgusting - especially cucumbers. Aquaponic crops should in theory taste of fish turds !

    • @JodBronson
      @JodBronson 6 років тому

      +BadgerLaser - I agree with you 100%. I can smell them in Lettuce and Tomatoes especially. Although I love Tomatoes... But I can smell them on certain Tomatoes and from my guessed it might be from Fish Bone / Meal Fertilizer, Aquaponics, etc.... Most People can't Smell it or Taste it, but I certainly can. Sometimes People would argue against it. I am sooooo GLAD, you are NOT one of them. Funny thing is... It took me a long time figure that out, why Tomatoes taste sooo Fishy and Smelly too, LOL.

    • @BadgerLaser
      @BadgerLaser 6 років тому +1

      Yes many people seem to have a very poor sense of smell/taste or maybe just tuned to different chemicals..... like how some people can smell asparagus p!ss, or taste saccharin .... whilst others wouldn't notice if they were smacked in the face with it!

    • @JodBronson
      @JodBronson 6 років тому

      +BadgerLaser - LOL... Smack their face with a wet Fish, LMFAO !!! Oh yea and you are 100% correct! A lot of People have poor sense of Smells or their Surroundings. I guessed me and you both should be grateful that we are not like them, LOL. Here is a funny story, and this is recently... Just one day... All of the sudden, I was able to Taste, Smells, Hear Distinctive Sounds, See different Leaves on trees, even Rocks... They are all " Distinctive " looking! Something changes in me and I am able to see things differently now and it's hard to explain... But now I see Life is really beautiful.... Another funny thing is... I don't look at my Dog " poop " like I used to. I used to feel so gross from looking at it, but now I don't look at my Dog poop like that anymore. Even if I see flies on them, I no longer feel gross because that is their food. LOL...... Isn't that funny? LMFAO :D
