    Your future son-in-laws will be thankful that you taught your daughters to cook at a young age. Imagine the wonderful recipes they will be making in ten years. Your daughter had me giggling when she said, "The Tower Of Leaning Pizza." Taylor is going to be one beautiful young woman when she gets older. I really enjoy your freezer meals marathons! ❤

    I appreciate that you make larger amounts of your recipes. Most freezer meal cooking channels put such small amounts of ingredients in the freezer bags. They say recipes will feed four to six people, but they look like they would make only two servings. At least for my family. Love your videos. Your daughters are so confident and do a great job.

    When you are doing potatoes just rinse them off and put them in a big pot of water and when they are done drain the water and let them cool and then you can easily remove the skin

    Love watching your videos. Thanks for all the great recipes. Just a note you don’t have to add the lemon juice to your potato water to keep them from turning that weird brown color.My mom and my grandmother always peeled their potatoes on Saturday for Sunday dinner, just as long as they were submerged in water, they will be fine.

    My husband grows our own garlic. He plants them in the fall and harvests them the next fall. I take all the garlic, peel them all, then I will put them all in the food processor and mince them all. Then I will put them in mason jars, fill them with vinegar. And, stick it in the refrigerator. They will last for a year. And, I have minced garlic at my fingertips. Sometimes they will turn green because of the oxidation of the vinegar, but it's still good to use. And, in the end you have a garlic infused vinegar that you can use for vinegarettes or marinades.

    A trick i saw once. Depends on what you're supposed to do with the garlic. For chopped or minced garlic, don't bother peeling it. Take the dry skins off, then grate it on your microplane (root end in your grasp). The skin will stay behind. That's about the only way I prepare garlic when a recipe calls for chopped or minced garlic.

      @FromtheRootsUp welcome! It makes fresh garlic a lot easier to incorporate - garlic cloves can be so fiddly to deal with, but that technique makes it a lot easier. Keep an eye, because bits of skin may fall in, but they're easy to pick out with your fingers or cooking tweezers.
      BTW, I now have a 5 cu ft chest freezer and a water-bath canner. I'm working on channeling my inner homesteader, and your family is helping me walk that path, so thank you!

    @1:53:41?when y’all are adding the flour to the soup. Would it be ok to add the flour to some warm liquid maybe reserve a cup of broth and make a paste and then add it to the pot of soup. So you can mix it with a liquid before adding it into the soup and trying to get the lumps out? I am going to try a lot of y’all’s recipes!!!

    How do you keep everything from getting freezer burn ???

    • @FromtheRootsUp
      @FromtheRootsUp  5 місяців тому +2

      A few things that really cut down on freezer burn for us:
      1. Make sure it cools completely before putting in the freezer
      2. Make sure you invest in good air tight containers or if they aren’t, seal them with plastic wrap or something to prevent moisture and air from getting in. Sometimes for us that means spending the extra $1 for a box of high quality freezer ziplock bags instead of the cheap ones or even buying quality reusable ones, it’s worth it since we put so much time and money into making meals ahead of time.
      3. Make sure to rotate through food and not leave it in the freezer for too long.
      Hope that helps!

    You don’t have to use lemon juice with potatoes just plain water will do the trick, I live in the uk and I never use lemon juice with potatoes as potatoes have a lot of starch in them so just plain water is enough

  • @ginakennett4051
    @ginakennett4051 5 місяців тому

    I don't know if anybody commented or not on this I tried to look but I thought you can't freeze cooked potatoes or regular milk that you had to use evaporated milk and also potatoes get a weird texture after cooking and freezing

    • @FromtheRootsUp
      @FromtheRootsUp  5 місяців тому

      We haven’t had trouble with these recipes, I guess it depends on how texture sensitive you are. There is a slight texture change when the potato soup is frozen, but not enough to matter for us.
