    Just found your channel. I’m a 76 year old widow and don’t do much cooking. But I love to watch other people cook and freeze and save time. Glad you are teaching your girls to cook. My theory is if they can read, do math and cook they are set for life. Hugs and blessings.

    Tips for making New England clam chowder: 1) Parboil your taters ahead of making the soup. 2.) Don't just pour the juice from the claims straight from the can. There is some grit in there. You should strain it first. 3) empty clams in strainer and rinse before putting in the pot to remove any grit. 4.) No need to use veggie broth you can add water to the strained clam juice to make up the difference or buy bottled clam juice. Been making it with canned clams for decades. You can also use left over baked taters diced up in it. Skin on or off is chefs' choice.

    Love your videos. Love the freezer meals and soups. I freeze most all freezer meals as individual meals just for me. I have no restrictions and my husband does. So freezer meals makes my life so much more simple and I get the variety I crave. I love that your daughters are happy participants, so your videos show other young people that they can cook too. I really liked this one too as it was the entire family. Keep em coming! Thank you

    I love this idea and it was the kind of thing I did when I was young. Now that I'm 83 and cooking for one, only making one kind of soup and freezing the leftovers is all that's feasible for me. Anything more would be freezer-burnt before it was used up. I loved watching the cooperation between you and your girls.

    Hello ladies! You have the best kitchen helpers.
    I totally agree with keeping the dishes washed as you go, makes it easier for me.
    I love batch cooking. One day in the kitchen and easy heat and eat the rest of the week. I just made a big pot of chicken noodle soup and have enough for 3 meals in my freezer and gave some to my brother. I have ate three days of chicken noodle soup and plenty for later, but so good, it’s one of my favorites besides taco soup or a pot of beans. Potato soup and vegetable beef soup or sausage and potato soupis a staple too.
    It’s easy and economical to have soups with so many different flavors.
    Good job ladies. Have a blessed night!

    would this really work , I have hard time believe the jars wouldn't mold; I would make it and give as gifts for the Holidays or hostess gifts!
    Mason Jar Pumpkin Bread🎃
    Ingredients
    2/3 cup shortening
    2 2/3 cups sugar
    4 eggs
    2 cups canned pumpkin
    2/3 cup water
    2 1/2 cups flour
    2 - 3 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1 teaspoon ground cloves
    1/2 teaspoons salt
    2/3 cup nuts
    Spray 8 mason jars with non-stick spray
    Directions
    Cream together shortening and sugar, beat in eggs, pumpkin and water. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and spices. Add to pumpkin mixture. Stir in nuts. Pour mixture into greased wide mouth, pint jars filling 1/2 full.
    Bake at 325°F for 45 minutes. When done, remove one jar at a time, wipe sealing edge with paper towel or cloth, and screw cap on tightly. The heat will vacuum seal the jar and the bread will keep up to 1 year.
    VARIATIONS
    Substitute for pumpkin, one of the following:
    1 bag whole ground fresh cranberries plus 1 can whole berry cranberry sauce
    1 3/4 cup applesauce plus 1/4 cup pineapple
    1 3/4 cups applesauce plus 1/4 cup raisins
    2 cups mashed bananas
    2 cups apricots
    2 cups shredded zucchini

So one big .So one big roaster for the base,and then by adding different seasonings you have all sauce made at once.I hope that makes sense.

      If the soup looks dry when we put it in the container to heat we will put broth in their with it (or stir in some warmed milk after it heats up if it’s cream based)

    Hello, I really enjoyed your soup marathon. You inspired me to do the same. Where did you purchased the 2 cup spoon ladle?

    • @FromtheRootsUp
      @FromtheRootsUp  Місяць тому

      It is actually a 1 cup ladle and so many people ask. Unfortunately, they don’t make it anymore! It was a set that had 1 cup, 1/2 cup and 1/4 cup ladles.
      This is the closest set I’ve been able to find: amzn.to/3BZJRq2

    I just have to ask why u don't use the leftover broth to make your chicken broth? Wouldn't it be more flavorful to just throw all the bones, skin, ect back in and process? All the recipes look great nonetheless. Ty for sharing

      A lot of times I do, but since we had so many things going on time wise and space wise I opted to save the bones and do broth making another day, so our big livestock guard dog got a special treat over his food!

    Just a little note after you’ve made your chicken and you wanna go back and use the scrap some bones to make broth. If you’ll take the bones out and put them in the oven like overnight on the lowest setting, it’ll dry them out you can then pulverize them in a food processor or high-speed blenderand you can either sprinkle that on your dog food to add extra calcium and bone marrow or you can you can sprinkle in your compost to add extra nutrition and you don’t have to worry about wild animals getting sick if they get into your compost, just don’t feed it back to your chickens because that’s kind of gross

    This is my first time watching your channel and enjoyed watching everyone make something different. Thank you so much for showing everyone how to do that. Looking forward to trying some of these. I really love that soup ladle but didn't see anything below that shows where you got it. I did not find it on Amazon. Do you remember where you got it?😊

    • @FromtheRootsUp
      @FromtheRootsUp  Рік тому +1

      I got it about 15 years ago as part of a weight watchers serving spoon set, that one is 1 cup, there was a 1/2 cup and 1/4 cup too. Unfortunately they don’t make them anymore. I hate that because it’s one of my very favorite kitchen things! Amazon has a few 1 cup servers, but none quite the same.

    Hi,just watched your video 1st time today loved watching your soup batch day..I wanted to ask if freezing cream does that separate when thawed?

    • @FromtheRootsUp
      @FromtheRootsUp  Рік тому

      Great question! I have heard that sometimes it can happen and produce a grainy texture, however, we haven't had that problem with these recipes. If you find that you have that problem, you can freeze the recipe without the cream and add it in when reheating.

    Did the wontons hold up after freezing? The recipe website you used suggested not freezing them due to becoming mushy.

    • @FromtheRootsUp
      @FromtheRootsUp  Рік тому +1

      The thicker noodles like the wontons and tortellini actually froze really well! The thinner noodles like the egg noodles were a little mushy, but some of that is just preference. I have heard that if you only cook your noodles part way before putting them in you can avoid the mushiness.
