Carry a small garden trowl and bury it. In NZ we are so disgusted/tired by the amount of people who just do dumps literally anywhere even next to toilet blocks WTH? Have some respect.

There is obviously something I am not getting. Why is it so important to pick up toilet paper, but not poop? Toilet paper is horribly unsightly, but it has the advantage of telling you where the poop is, especially when that happens to be under the only shade tree on a hot day. Of course it should be picked up. SO SHOULD THE POOP.

That would be a nightmare especially while walking. How many people have issues especially after breakfast or a heavy meal during a break?
It’s a tricky subject, but fortunately there are many cafe bars on the way :)
Now there is many kind of ultra light shovels made in titanium, aluminium or hard plastic. Many books have also been written on the subject. I just want to remember here that one must do it at least at 200m from any source of water.

That is interesting that nobody asked the question when we did the Lives in preparation of the Camino. I did not have any questions because I figured it out last September, but before going I had tons of questions about it and did not know where to get my information and nobody asked about it. Like you said it’s taboo
This is my biggest fear.. because when nature #2 HITS it does it HARD without clemency 😂

Do you bring a small hand trowel, to dig a hole for the poop to go into and then cover it over. Also, to stay 200 ish feet away from any water source?
It’s a great idea! Quite often you can use the bar or restaurant on the way, if you “know your times”

Should one bury "it"? Always pack out paper! I always linger over my cafe con leche in the bar.
Yes, people bury it! And dogs do too.. nature is full of examples and sometimes we can learn only by observing!
The other thing that I’ve learnt other day from a doctor was that caffeine in a coffee has an opposite effect on your bowel, it actually stops it! The only reason we go to toilet is because of the hot liquid de moves it… it was a great surprise for me. Hugs
I was surprised and disappointed by how much toilet paper there is along the Camino. I don't think people realise it can take up to 5 years for it to disintegrate in nature. 😱 So easy to carry a bag and dispose of at the next place.
