My first Camino was Portugese route from Porto. I started 30.06 and it took me 6 days to complete at Santiago. Long sunny days and 👣 from AM till late PM. Now I know that next time will walk little bit slower, less kms per day but visiting more places :)
Thanks for sharing Dorota! this is a common thing with all! We arrive from the busy live, busy streets, metros.. and then jump into the Camino! The one thing I recommend to everyone- for those who read this message before preparing for the first Camino- is to spend a day in the place where you start, sink into the tradition, culture. Synchronise with the Vibe of thee place and the Camino itself! When is your next Camino Dorota?
Good morning, we did the Camino Ingles from Ferrol as our first (August), and I thinner for us as a family (3) it was also very good and not to expensive with enough accomodations. I thinner the next one will be Sanabres or Portugues. Greetings from Belgium
Hey Team! * Walking Camino in family is a great joy! * I have friends who work and help( hospitaleros) on Camino Ingles and they recommend it, however it has a lot of asphalt, not as much pure nature, which could be a problem to some! Thanks for great feedback and let me know about your plans!
I'm planning on doing the Camino Frances in September, starting in Burgos. I'm going to take the whole month. Your videos have given me a lot of information for preparation. Thank you for everything.
Thank you so much! Those messages are motivating me to share my experiences and help others, Burgos is a great place to start, but if you can, consider walking from Pamplona ;)
I had my stomach removed due to cancer in September2021. I am finally getting my fitness level where I miss the Camino. We did the Portuguese Camino central in 2018 and the Frances in2016. I intend to do the coastal Portuguese on electric bike next year. Wish me luck.
David, you're truly an inspiration! We're confident you'll make it! Keep us posted on your preparation progress. We'd love to meet you-drop by our live stream this Thursday and 'say hi' - ua-cam.com/users/liveJmguVhaYUp8?feature=share
Thanks for the ideas, planning my first Camino which will be 12-14 days. Could you talk about the details of walking at different times of the year sometime? I plan to go in September. It's hard to find Camino videos specifically about walking in fall months instead of the summer (tips, clothes, albergue differences, etc). It would be a unique video I think
Hi! Thanks for reaching out, I'm glad that you are joining Camino family! Walking in September hugely depends on how hot is the summer, and how long does it last for, but in general you have to be prepared for more rain( ESPECIALLY Galicia) and lower temperatures on higher Altitude( O'cebreiro, Foncebadon). The humidity will affect the field of view, as fogs will apear so a headlight is a MUST! Days are shorter so maybe don't start to early as one "Old Timer" once told me- Why would anyone walk in Galician Forests in the dark? I will be making the video about that in following weeks, so stay connected ;) hugs
Hi, thank you for your video and your pronunciation. I am French and I am learning English again. So I'm looking at your sharing of tips to reconcile studying and remembering my Caminos. I would have put the Camino Inglés in your list too. Thanks again and Ultreïa e Suseia. Buen Camino.
Hi Ricky, Thanks a lot of your videos, really helpful and...spiritual chanel, as well as funny! 🙂 Considering to do the Camino del Norte, from Bilbao to Santander, perhaps at first week of September. If there is a video of this trail- can you please direct me here, in reply, while I'm currently watching your other videos. Thanks mate! 🤝
Short update- just found your Live Stream, perhaps there will be some info regarding my questions. Thanks again for your efforts, greetings to Erica- Happy International Women's Day to her! 😘
Thanks from both of us :) I doliente publish route videos from the Camino del Norte, not vlogs, as when I did it, my intention wasn’t to actually make videos! I think if you look into videos of ginger vicar- he is publishing some things about the Camino del Norte. However, I can give you some good feedback if you have specific questions, any time! 🤗 hugs
Thanks for the tips. Btw.the translation on You Tube was activeted when the video started, despite that your english is very understandable for a norwegian guy like me. Until you said: -the Portuguese Camino.... Translation: the poetry is camino..!! After a good laugh, i shut it off. ;-) Poetry, yes, hehe, but my main expectation is so much else, if and when i manage to make a decision, which Camino to choose, as a beginner. 🙂
The French Camino has two or three places pf higher hills but they aren’t dangerous cliffs. If you prefer something much easier, Portuguese way from Porto has only one hill, in ponte de Lima, but it’s barely 30 min of climbing. Totally plain would be a English way! Hugs
Hello please can you do a video about your book I am interested does the book cover all the casino trails how much does your book cost I love your videos best of luck from Ireland 🇮🇪 😊
Shortly before March, we hope to publish a video about the journal. For now, if you wish to get it, it's called 'The Journey Within: A Journal for Camino de Santiago.' Hugs.
My concerns will be the bedbugs I hear so much about. I have a bug phobia. Some say they have not experienced bedbugs, but some have. Not certain if it makes a difference where you stay. People carry them from place to place.
Hello Emy, yes some people never experienced it (Erica for instance), it's not so frequent, but when it happens usually they close the place where it happens to disinfect everything and avoid it spreading more. Even if it happens is not fatal, just follow all the instructions to remove it from your clothes and backpack!
Good insights based on experience. Perhaps the question might be which Camino choses the person. I always felt a pull or thread of connection that attracted me to walk my Caminos and when the time was right, I just packed my rucksack and off I went. To be fair, it's much easier for me because I live in Spain.
It reminds me of the movie 7 years in Tibet, when they are choosing the New Buddha, depending which object he takes from the table. Maybe the election and the decision is made from two sides- object and Buddha?! And in this story you seem like a lucky one if you live in Spain ;) hugs
Really enjoying your advice and site! I am planning my first Camino the second week in September. How have prices changed in 2023 on the French Camino. I am flying from Colorado USA so what are your thoughts on where I should fly to? I will finish in Finnestere.
Just returned from Santiago today and thinking about the next one. I made the Camino del Norte and got a bit annoyed by the masses of pilgrims after Arzua. Especially the silly ones on E-Bikes. Porto-Santiago-Finisterre-Muxia would be now my dream camino instead of the francés.
Hola, I want to do the French camino of Santiago alone , thinking about mid december to start. Do you think it will be too cold or I will encounter snow?
Jacqueline! how are you? Every season is special, and winter is more solitary and phisicly more demanding( could be). Will you walk French Way? the Pirenees pass will be probably close so you will have to walk around. Many of the albergues will be closed but it chouldn't disencourage you, as it might actually be a positive thing... but yes, snow should be there.
Hi Sabine! First and the most important reason I didn't include this Camino is ... that I didn't do it personally- which leads me to the second point- most of the pilgrims complain about the excess of asphalt road... Let me check it on my own and I ll make a new vid. What is your experience? any advice?
@@caminotellers Very true ! There is a LOT of asphalt, but as it was my first I didn't have anything to compare it to. And if you look, in places you can find side roads running parallel that are much quieter, but without really adding much mileage. Plus, the first suggested section - to Neda - is really short and easy, a great way to start. I hadn't seen your or Nadine's (Nadine Walks) channels then, I've learnt a lot from you guys - thanks!
