In episode 63 of Whisky in SV, I did a blind tasting of three special Redbreast Irish whiskeys: the PX, versus the Tawny Port vs the 19 Year Small Batch which was a special from The Whiskey Exchange Store in London UK. Despite the heavy price tag, the 19 Year did not do very well because it had some harsh acidic and bitter characteristics which I did not enjoy. The PX and the Tawny Port were neck and neck and even though the Tawny port edged out a win in this sitting, I usually find myself enjoying the PX more. Luckily both of these have been relatively available and affordable recently so they are definitely my two go-to Irish whiskeys. That's interesting. I got a completely different impression from the 19Y small batch. To me it taste more like a nicely aged cask strength version of Lustau.
Always interesting to see how other people taste, thank you for posting! Looks like you have a great collection!
