After making a few of these now, I’ve become convinced that a major factor besides how the heat is applied is the brand of ink used. I personally get the best results or the wispiest results with Marabu vs all the other brands I’ve tried. But that’s just me. I know Christi Brown gets amazing results with Ranger and Copic brand inks. 🤷♀️ I definitely encounter more frustration with the big-bottle brands like Brea Reese, T-Rex, and Woodes Goodies. I was hoping the speed thing would help, but that doesn’t seem to be the issue.
I love watching your creations, they always come out beautiful. I know I have been watching your older ones as well as your newer ones but I can't help it they are absolutely beautiful 😍.
I like how you can rework it if you're not happy with it. In the end, it turned out great. I just bought a 15x speed motor, will be installing it today. I ordered a potentiometer to control the speed, will install that when it arrives. Can't wait to see what it can do.
Love your cups. They are so pretty. When I do this technique, I put an aluminum pan under my cup to catch the extra alcohol ink. It mixes together to make another color of ink. I put in a container to use for later. Thank you for all your videos.

@@denabusbey8576 on Amazon. Love the gnomes super cute cup. The fast turners are great for the ink serape style cups! You know I future with my waterfall cups forever sometimes has to be done ✔
I have this turner and have a love/hate relationship with it :( Worked fine the first couple of times and later it began to "jiggle" on me, shaking the cup. I've even had a cup fall off. I wish you the best of luck with the turner.
The arms for this turner fit snugly into the collar piece that’s attached to the motor, so it’s sort of a twist-push to put it on, then a twist-pull to take it off. The arms provided work fine, but I already have other arms (same diameter pvc) with footballs or foam attached, so it was just quicker to use one of those. Many of the turners have interchangeable arms, which is helpful sometimes. I just reopened my Etsy store (www.etsy.com/shop/LuxindaSwirl) after Christmas, and a few of my recent-ish cups are there. I don’t list everything I make, just because of the extra time involved to shoot all the photos and create the listing. I may start selling the one-offs on FB, I guess. It’s a little easier. Thanks!
@@Luxinda Thank you so much, for responding. I was watching your video and it had those coloured PVC (I assume) and then BANG it's your old PVC. Thanks for all you do and have a merry day!
I luv the dimensions you get from the ink. I’m a fan of the brown gold tones. The vinyl was cute, for me, my preference would to Have it on both sides.
I really like this technique and I’ll have to try it. But on a side note, I kept rewinding to the guy who says “11”. I could have sworn it was Joe Lynn Turner from Rainbow but it’s not! Christopher Guest from Spinal Tap is Mr. 11. Took me 22 minutes to completely finish the video from all the rewinds I did.
Thank you!! I have to admit I’ve never heard of Joe Lynn Turner. I’ve been a Spinal Tap fanatic since the movie first came out. I love every movie Christopher Guest has made, like A Mighty Wind, Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, and most of all This Is Spinal Tap. He’s amazing, and his timing in this one tiny little clip is perfection 🥰
I love it, Cindy. You're stickers are so cute. You do this technique so well! Honestly, I couldn't tell much difference in the results of the turners, but, hey, who am I? I'm not really seeing much brass. Too bad, because I really like the effect of it on resin and alcohol ink cups.
I tried your method for one of these tumblers and cringed from the amount of alcohol inks used. So I put down a $ store baking sheet and plastic wrap and reused the ink to make a separate tumbler. Worked out good for most of them.....😛
Thank you!! I prep cups by sanding with an 80 grit (but any grit will be fine) sanding block, wiping it down with 50% isopropyl alcohol (any % will work fine), then spray painting usually with 2 layers of whatever color I want (I tend to use Rustoleum brand, but any brand will work fine). For this particular method, I would use matte or flat finish spray paint, not glossy, just so the alcohol inks have something to cling to.
They are both lovely, but I like the Green one the best. Could the wispyness" on the blue cup be due to using the Marabu? They are less pigmented and wonder if that had something to do with it. The Gnome Cup is adorable and love the reference to another of my all-time favorite movies!
Thank you!! 😊 Yep, I definitely think it’s the Marabu. I thought maybe speed was the issue, but after this experiment, I’m pretty sure my best results come from using Marabu inks. Other people may find other inks behave better for them. But the “big bottle” brands like Brea Reese, T-Rex, and Woodes Goodies definitely behave differently on the alcohol base, and the watery Marabu just spreads out faster.
Thank you!! Things go unavailable on Amazon frequently, especially with the current supply-chain issues. But I have no doubt the turners will be back, so keep checking 😊Thank you for asking about the artwork! This technique gives me such anxiety. I was so engrossed, my coffee cup started slipping from my hand. No joke🙄 How did you like the speed, for your epoxy application? I run the 5-6 rpm motors and often wish it was faster, for the epoxy application. Love your realism🙂💜
Oh my!! I hope the coffee survived ☕️😊 I think once I get used to applying resin at the 9 rpm level, I’ll like it a lot. Right now, it’s a little too fast. But that’s hopefully just a learning curve thing 🙄

Yes, the turner shown in this video is currently unavailable, but all I can suggest is to put it on your Amazon wish list then check on it periodically. It seems that most of the turners I recommend are unavailable right now, so im guessing it’s part of the supply-chain problems many importers are having. And the video for the fireworks tumbler is here: ua-cam.com/video/-WsANMW_f94/v-deo.html Im sorry I couldn’t be of more help!
Curious! If you do an alcohol ink cup with decal do you usually just typically do 2 layers of epoxy or do you do more? Just wondering if 2 layers is good when you don’t use glitter and just inks or paint?
Beautiful, I am looking to buy my first turner, unfortunately this one is unavailable at the moment, can you please let me know how much it costs? I am new to all this.
I hope it is not a speed thing! I want to try this, its a different visual texture that I really think some of my customers would like. Your turner is no longer available on Amazon. I tried several searches with 11 rpm but I am only finding the 5-6.
