Thank you for making this video! The only thing I did differently is flip the Lagkapten table surface and and install the Alex drawer upside-down. That made it so that I did not have to tape the screws once I navigated the connector holes, but it did add extra steps for flipping the desk back over again. It also made it easy to bridge the gap as I screwed it in, because the weight of the Alex kept it firmly flush with the underside of the tabletop. So glad I made the choice to upgrade my desk!

I have no idea what to do as I have built everything up until you add the drawers. But now I have realised that the railings don’t allow for all 5 drawers to fit and I don’t know why
Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. The reason why the drawers won't fit is because you built the unit upside down. You probably need to flip the side boards around on each side so the railings with the smaller spacing is on-top, bigger on bottom. I point this out at 10:38 of my video. Also make sure the board with the holes are on the top of the drawer unit. It's a quick fix to get you back in the game. Hopefully that helps, thanks for watching and the subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾😊

It’s odd how my top drawer is not coming all the way out like yours. How come I fix that? I notice that one metal slider comes out was compared to the other one
Hi there,. Thanks for watching my video and the feedback question. Yes that is odd, to possibly fix check the side boards to make sure the space between the sliders is the same on both sides. If not one of the sides may need to be turned upside down. However, that would mean taking the unit apart,😟. This may also solve the slider problem. Hopefully that helps. Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾
Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. By design, the big drawer has to go on the bottom. They will not fit properly if you try to put them in the other way. In order to do what you are asking you have readjust the sliders eith new holes on the sides to allow the fit, this might be a little tricky 😄 Thanks again for watching and the subport to help me grow my channel👍🏾
Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. If you are familiar with the process this should take an hour. You just need a standard screwdriver 🪛 and a soft hammer. So, I have an alex drawer and decided to make it as what it is, the only thing is that the bottom panel (where the legs are) has the holes in it. Do you know anyway I can disassemble it?
Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and the feedback question. To disassemble the unit you normally look to the sides for the connecting screws caps and undoing them that connects to the screws in the bottom/top boards. At the same time you need to pay attention to the direction on the side panels to ensure that the draws will fit properly. You may need to flip these also. Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾😀
Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. The reason why it doesn't have the 4 holes on the top because its on the bottom, check. If you followed the instructions that's what happens. The instructions in for when you do not have a tabletop that was just recycled. There is an error in the instructions and I pointed that out in my video. Take the sides apart and switch the top and bottom boards. Good luck. Thanks again for watching and the subport to help me grow my channel👍🏾
HELP! The screws that attach the drawer cabinet to the desktop aren’t working. They leave about 1/2 inch hanging out that will not go all the way through. Yours went in like a piece of cake. It seems the pre drilled holes in the desktop we’re not deep enough. Should I take the screws out and pre drill the depth of the holes in the desktop a little deeper? I’ve looked at other videos and nobody addresses this issue. Is mine just a feral problem?
Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. Stop!! Before you do anything please check ✔️ to make sure you are using the right screws. The correct screws should work and not leave such a gap. Please review all your screws. Try this before you do something that may ruin your purchase. Take a screw out and measure it from the outside of the unit (drawer and desktop together) to determine even if you drill the holes further if that will solve the problem and to see the actual length of the screw. Good luck😀 Thanks for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾
Thanks for your response. IT means a lot when I get a response. That doesn’t always happen. Anyway, I took the existing screws out (they are the correct screws by the way) and checked the holes in the table top. There didn’t seem to be any more reason for the screws not to go all the way through. So, I went through heck trying to realign the holes again butbut I finally got that done. For whatever reason they went through properly this time. Go figure! The job is complete And just FYI I am a 67-year-old lady, and did it all by myself. Thank you so much for your video.
Hi, thanks for the video. I’ve inserted the draws but now I can’t take them out! The rails don’t detach from the draw when its pulled out so I can’t take them out. Any suggestions? TIA
Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. I would suggest that you focus on getting only one out. You may need to use focused force to rattle it free. I have a question. does the alex drawers have holes on top or do you have to make them? If i order each piece by itself instead of the whole set (just to mix match some colors)
Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and the feedback questions. The Alex always comes with a board with the holes. If want to make it a stand alone unit e put the board with the holes on the bottom. If you want to attach it to a tabletop you put the board with the holes on-top of the unit. Hi there, Thanks for your feedback question. Without taking the unit apart you will need to drill your own holes through the desktop and table top. Use screws that are long enough to connect both pieces. If you want to use the current screws you have to use a big enough drill bit but not to big to make the holes useless. My advice would be to quickly take the unit apart especially the side boards and flip them around. It's quicker without a lot of improvisation. Hopefully that helps. I am thinking of getting the same desk but the 200 in dimension one (the largest one in their showroom) but I have a monitor that’s 34” curved will it fit on the desk? And is the desk width large? Cause I have the exact same one as yours 140x60 and I find it too small for my monitor and iPad and ps to be on the table. I have a lot of stuff on my table and I would like to have more space so if you guys can recommend a desk for me it’d be appreciated thx
Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. You can try another Tabletop which is bigger. www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/lagkapten-tabletop-white-10508220/ desk from IKEA. It's 80x160 cm in dimension. It's a little bigger. You should get two or 4 legs depending on whether you are going to use the cabinet drawer but may need to use self tapping screws and washers to attach the unit (if use 2 leg). If You use 4 legs, can use the same cabinet drawer and just slide it under the tabletop, it's up to you to determine if you want to attach it as described above. Let me know what you think. Thanks again and subport to help me grow my channel.

Hi there,
thanks for watching my video and the feedback question. Yes you can add 2 Alex Drawers on both sides. The tabletop has holes on both sides to allow this.
Thanks again for watching my video and subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾
I have no idea what to do as I have built everything up until you add the drawers. But now I have realised that the railings don’t allow for all 5 drawers to fit and I don’t know why
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback.
Ohhhh makes sense now. I’ve already drilled the board with the holes on my upside version. Not too sure how to take it out
@@Luvemma07 I'm not sure what you drilled.. and where you need to take something out..? Would you not just reverse what you did?
Can you put the draws/ legs on the opposite side of desk?

It’s odd how my top drawer is not coming all the way out like yours. How come I fix that? I notice that one metal slider comes out was compared to the other one
Hi there,.
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback question.
Yes that is odd, to possibly fix check the side boards to make sure the space between the sliders is the same on both sides. If not one of the sides may need to be turned upside down. However, that would mean taking the unit apart,😟. This may also solve the slider problem. Hopefully that helps.
Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾
Is it ok if I want to put the bigger drawers on the top layer instead of the small ones?
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. By design, the big drawer has to go on the bottom. They will not fit properly if you try to put them in the other way. In order to do what you are asking you have readjust the sliders eith new holes on the sides to allow the fit, this might be a little tricky 😄
Thanks again for watching and the subport to help me grow my channel👍🏾
How long did it take to complete the installation? What tools do I need? Will it be okay if I don’t have an electric screwdriver? Thank you.
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. If you are familiar with the process this should take an hour. You just need a standard screwdriver 🪛 and a soft hammer. The drill is for power hungry folks.
Hopefully that helps.
Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel👍🏾
Hi there! I was wondering if I can attach the drawers on the *right* side of the desk instead of the left. Is that a possibility? 🤔 Thanks!
Hi there,

Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help grow my channel.🙂👍🏾
@@TowneBlvdTiy thanks a lot!
So, I have an alex drawer and decided to make it as what it is, the only thing is that the bottom panel (where the legs are) has the holes in it. Do you know anyway I can disassemble it?
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback question.
Why my Alex Drawer does not have 4 holes on the top?
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. Good luck.

Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback.
Good luck😀

TIA
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. I would suggest that you focus on getting only one out. You may need to use focused force to rattle it free. Since I can't really " see" what you are up against that's all I can suggest. Good luck with things.

Is it possible that the drawer can be on the right side? TIA
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the kind feedback. YES it's possible to put the drawer on the right hand side. The tabletop has the holes on both sides to allow for the installation of your preference.
Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel👍🏾😀
Hi there , can i install it the other way around ? like the alex drawer on the left and the feet on the right? thank you.
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. Yes, you can install the drawer on the other side. There are holes on both ends of the tabletop to allow for either end installation. You just have to put the legs on the opposite side also.
Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel possible.
Does anyone know how to detatch the drawers from the tabletop? I'm moving soon and it'll be impossible to move otherwise!!
Hi there thanks for watching my video and the feedback question.
In my video I show how to attach the TableTop to the drawer. Basically you have to remove all the drawers, on the top of the drawers you will find several screws, those will be loosened up and or removed.
Hopefully that helps,

Is it possible to make the cabinet on right side instead on the left side?
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. Yes it is possible to put the cabinet on the right hand side as the table top has the holes on both sides to allow the installation.
Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel 😄👍🏾
I have a question. does the alex drawers have holes on top or do you have to make them? If i order each piece by itself instead of the whole set (just to mix match some colors)
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback questions. The Alex always comes with a board with the holes. If want to make it a stand alone unit e put the board with the holes on the bottom. If you want to attach it to a tabletop you put the board with the holes on-top of the unit. I'm not sure if you can order individual pieces unless you are replacing a part. Hopefully that helps.

Can the drawers go on the ride side ?

So do you need a power drill for this?
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. You can definitely do it without the cordless drill. The drill is just a way speeding things up. A manual wrench/screwdriver will do just fine 😊

Best video and a great guide! Please do you have a link to this table? Also can you reach to do someones nails with this size? I was told to get an 18 inch depth only. I'm a nail enthusiast so I won't be doing too many people...lol

Thanks for watching my video and the super kind feedback. I'm not really sure about the comfort of doing other's nails, lol.

So what size table top is that?
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. The dimensions are as follows, LAGKAPTEN / ALEXDesk Tabletop, 55 1/8 x 23 5/8 " (or 140x60 cm). Hopefully, that helps.
Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel👍🏾😀
I followed the instructions and the table top holes are on the bottom. Is there another way to secure the desk without taking it apart?
Hi there,
Thanks for your feedback question.
Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾
Thx for video brother, i was little bit confused when they showed in the plan that the lower desk should have holes in it.
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the kind feedback. Yes, I had to clean up the picture provided in the instructions as was just a recycled version of when you build cabinet as a stand alone unit. I tried to emphasize this difference multiple times.
Thanks again for watching and the subport to help me grow my channel👍🏾
What kind of bit did you use for the drill???
Hi There,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. What I used for the screws was a medium Philips bit, for the clamps on-top of the screws I used a medium flat-head bit.
Hopefully that helps.
Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾😀
Hi, wondering if this can be done without an electric drill?
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. Yes you can definitely do it without to the cordless drill. A manual
screwdriver will do just fine 😊
Thanks again for watching and the subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾
There's no holes on the top of my Alex Draws? They are all on the bottom???????
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback question. Yes, you have the top and bottom in reversed, you'll need to undo both and flip them, whilst you are at it please pay attention to the side boards to ensure those are also on the correct sides and the rigt spacing for the drawers to fix properly. I point this out briefly in my video. Good luck with your project 😄

@@TowneBlvdTiy okay thanks.
I did the same thing because I followed the instructions. I dont really get hom im supposed to attach the wheels then because the wheels are clearly only on one side...and I need that side on both top and bortom
@@Nevolet hi there,
The thought Is that If you are going to attach the TableTop then you don't use the wheels as the unit becomes unbalanced. Or the legs of the tabletop is designed to work or hit the floor with the desk without the wheels. Therefore you don't need the holes on the bottom. Hopefully that helps
Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾
@@TowneBlvdTiy yeah I just realized it was different options and if you have a top then you can't use the wheels. Luckily it was a quick thing to fix. Thanks for the quick response.
Is a drill necessary?

I believe it makes things easier with a drill but do you think it is possible without a drill? If not ill just learn how to use my dads drill😅
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. No, you do not need a drill to do this task. It's only a preference to speed things up for those who like power (tools), lol. A manual screwdriver will do just fine.

Am I just not strong enough to get the screws in?? 🙄😅

Thanks bro, instructions aren’t clear around the feet part
Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the kind feedback. Yes, that's a pitfall with the IKEA instructions which they missed or not aware when they recycle stuff.

Hi there,
Thanks for watching my video and the feedback.

@@TowneBlvdTiy thank you so much for your fast reply. I will give this one a go, 80 seems big enough. Thank you kind sir!
