The wize bulbs, outlet, motion detector and switches are very nice for automating things like hallway lights or stairwell lights. Or triggering all cameras to record no matter their motion status ect.

Hey David - Thank you sir! If you're after JUST SD Recording, then you want to turn on Continuous recording and turn off all event recording settings.
As soon as you turn on any event recording, it goes to the cloud.
And this is where it gets complicated. Even recording turned on and SD recording on "events" records to both the cloud and the local SD card.
I just finished moving everything to the V3 hub. Luckily all my old smart apps where still built in IDE. I didn’t really have a single issue except the new garage door tilt sensor acting weird.

Thank you for all your great videos and how too. I have two wyze cams but can't seem to keep them connected to my Google home Displays. I on install them and re install them a few times and they connect but take very long. Would love any heads help that you could give me thanks. Also would like to mention I have no problem getting the cameras to work with the app it's only when I used the Google home displays.
Hi Michael - This is something going on with lots of users right now between Google and Wyze. Unfortunately, we just have to wait for a bit of an upgrade between Wyze and Google right now. It's very annoying though!
Try Tinycam on an Android device, maybe a Fire TV and I think you'll be very happy with the results!
Just wanted to make sure I got the information correct. I work a rotating night shift schedule so my days off change every week. I want the camera to send me notifications only while I am away from the home so the best bet would be the life 360 app which would allow me to only get notifications when my phone leaves the area of the home?
Hey Joe - You only really need Life 360 if you're trying to manage for a family. Then you need IFTTT and Life 360 (and IFTTT only offers 3 applets now per free account). Otherwise, you can use IFTTT period to set a location based trigger on/off for notifications.
There are other workarounds with Alexa/Google in conjunction with Wyze too.
Hey Brian it's Mike from Portland Oregon I just got the wyse cam v3 I got one on the pre-order for Christmas I used it three days testing it out limited use fourth day I plugged it in and it won't power up no lights no sound. Have any idea what the issue could be I checked the forum and comments for troubleshooting and there's not much about the V3 yet. I left the message for their customer service we'll see how busy they are. You have a great channel my friend do you ever review 360 cameras or mini or Pico media projectors I'll be checking out more of your content 👍❤️😎
Another fantastic video! I've now got Wyze cameras at 6 different locations and am sharing access to some of those with 3 relatives. No issues so far. I'm still desperately waiting for the outdoor version... I don't suppose you have any rough estimate of when they are supposed to be available? Hope you and your family are well and staying safe!

Hey Mark - So, the reason is just that I've seen a lot of SD cards fail in these cameras. There's some heat generated and then you're out big money if you've gone too big. Plus, Wyze is pretty clear on their recommendations being under 32 gb for maximum compatibility. :)
Thank you for explaining so well. I seem to have app issues. Settings seem to be reset or changed without me doing this. My password is secure. I had no issues with event recordings with two camaras. Now one Camara does not have any event recordings. All the settings are on for this, and the same as my other Camara that has working event recordings.. I feel like the app is the biggest problem. Any suggestions on what to do when event recordings are not working, but everything is showing they are on? And is the app test button something I can use to fix problems like this when I am not near the Camara to do a reset from home?
Ok, so they recently made a change where you have to sign up for Cam Pro Lite (in the account, subscriptions). You can choose to pay 0 / month so do that if you want and then you should get event recording again.
Brian I am finding the current person detection is better than the previous outside provider person detection. I would be interested what others are seeing.

The app I like is called Tiny cam. If you have a smart TV you can download Tinycam on your smart TV and watch all your cameras at once on your TV. You can also have it on your smartphones and computer.

Have v3? Flood... Installed two more v3 single cams. Have lost sound notification for flood light motion. All sound settings on but no audible notification. Why?

Now that Life360 dropped ITTT support, are there any other alternatives? Only real downside I see with the Wyze V3 is the lack of automatically arm/disarm.
Right now, it's pretty tough. You could go through SmartThings and their ability to know all phones are out of the home... That can go through IFTTT
Great Video! So I'm still wondering what the Wyze definition is for "Interval" on the Outdoor Cam when using Time Lapse Recordings. Can't find the meaning of this term on Wyze's support site. Does "Interval" refer to the time span between each recording clip when nothing is being recorded? Or is it the length of each recording clip? An a related question ... how long is each recording (or snapshot)? Is it a still shot? Many Thanks!
Interval with the cams is the time between snapshots. They just do pictures over a time lapse. So the length of recording is a frame :)
How do I change the display orientation to horizontal on the app. Customer service doesn’t seem to know how to do it. They help me in the past with this issue but for some reason it is going back to a portrait display this is an iPad 10.5
It should just flip. Probably a setting inside of your iPad to not rotate?
Brian have you used or heard of the $20 1080p merkury innovations camera? Just wanted to hear your opinion on them?
Heard of them! Not something I've used personally though! I have used the EZVIZ C1C and did enjoy that camera too. :)
In general though, I trust Wyze more than the average $20 camera because of how the product was developed. Software over top of an already existing inexpensive design. That means security can be focused on. Whereas many cameras at $20 might not have been built that way...so I'm cautious around recommending it!
I live in a condo. Someone is throwing food onto my balcony and rats and other unwanted animals are appearing. I live on the main floor and I have set up the video cam to catch whoever is throwing the food. I have a camera focused on the tower and have a good idea who is running the food but I need to catch them in action. I would like to focus the camera on two or three floors and have it give me a notification when it sees someone throwing food or objects. Any suggestions how I can set up the camera to do that? Hi Loulou - I'd need a bit more information as to what you're trying to do here. With no electricity, it could be tough to do much outside of what a Trail Cam would do.

With the local SD card recording, I understand that it's 1 min increments and will cont to record when there's motion vs 12 sec cloud clips. With the 12 sec clip there is a 5 min cool down period. Is there a cool down period for local recording? Thanks
There is no cool down for local recording to SD cards Kenneth! That's a major component of the versatility of these.
@@AutomateYourLife For some reason Wyze support could not answer that question. So, the Complete Motion service add-on is the same recordings as local SD event recordings but just in the cloud.
My Wyze PTZ , which I have outside, follows the rule that I only receive notifications from 11pm to 7am next morning. I setup the same rule for Wyze v3, which looks at my driveway, but it doesn’t follow any rules. I even tried deleting the rule and turning off V3 notifications but it still doesn’t follow rules. I have two Wyze v3 with same problem. Any ideas?
The only idea I have there is to chat with Wyze support! Odd one.
I plan to buy the Wyze starter pack and a Wyze cam pan at my rented apartment, so not too many devices. Would I need a hub like Smartthings (at least to invest in the future)?
You don't NEED SmartThings, but I think you should definitely stick with us for a bit and watch some of our SmartThings content to find out why it's so powerful. In a lot of cases, much more powerful than Wyze...but definitely a bit higher in terms of price. :)

I just purchased an Wyze Cam Outdoor v2 and I'm having a. hard time finding the schedule part. I have a plug in wyze cam v2 and it's under the event recording tab. Can I schedule only night time with the Wyze Cam outdoor v2?
I don't have that camera, but I wouldn't imagine that they'd only allow you night schedules. You could use rules to turn on/off the camera and/or event recording I believe. Try to hit the plus on the main page.

It sounds like in both cases you should talk to the Wyze support team.
With the card, I'd pop that in a computer and see if you can grab your files and then if not, try to reformat the card in the camera

You can do that with the Wyze Cam V3! Feel free to do that with that camera as it's made for outdoors.

Nope! You'll get 12 second recordings to the cloud no matter what. Sounds like something's wrong John...maybe it's time to talk to Wyze's support team.
How do I turn off the 5 min cool down. I would like notifications regardless of lapsed time between events.

if you have a memory card you dont have to use app, only to hear sound , if u have a memory card reader , it has it sorted in files u can review . u dont have to use the cloud . if u dont mind going up to get memory card when you notice somerhing strange or want to view that bad

Hey up Yoof! Off topic question. Do we know a cheap solution to having an automated smart ceiling bulb in a bathroom? I'm just not willing to pay Philips Hue water proof bathroom bulb money on moral grounds. I have 6 bulbs, 2 sensors and two light bulb remote controls of theirs already and I don't want to give the ripping off b-stards any more of our money. What I ideally want is what we have in two rooms already. Just walk in the room and the lights come on due to the movement sensor and depending of ambient light and time of day they then they go off after a set amount of time if there is no movement detected. Obviously the Philips sensors I already have are not water proof (steam) and therefore can't be used for the job. I could just get a simple microwave sensor/bulb set up but whilst they are functional they don't fit into the home eco system and just stand alone. Many thanks Yoof. This is always tough, because I don't trust things enough to give you a good experience...
What I do in my smart home is SmartThings (or Hubitat) and then I can use...Ikea bulbs, Sengled bulbs, Samsung bulbs, or really any generic zigbee bulb. Then, I can use a SmartThings motion sensor and I've got the whole setup working and it's $10/bulb tops and $20/sensor.
The other thing you can look at is just an actual light switch with the motion sensor. Those are always good for those situations. Simple, effective, and then you can use most bulb types.

I want to purchase the Wyzecam for my cabin to simply take a "snapshot" twice a day to view my furnace/surroundings, and a second camera to make sure a tree smashed my roof. There is nothing to steal so I do not care about movements or noise. With that said, ALL I have is my HOTSPOT. Once I depart, with my cell phone, ALL that will be there are the cameras and the HOTSPOT. My question is, will it stay linked, if so, will it suck up data, and can I use my phone app to MANUALLY view my cameras? I do not require an SD card, either. I just want to know if I can get data, manually, solely using a HOTSPOT? OR would it be beneficial to have a continuous SD card recording for me to MANUALLY view. I do not require a cloud either. I'm just hoping to hear feedback on this sole HOTSPOT connectivity plan.
Hi John,
The ability to stay linked is going to depend on the reliability of the hotspot connection out there. Wyze Cams are going to, in general, disconnect from weak connectivity on WiFi so you need to make sure the gear out there is good. I've had AMAZING results with Wyze and Nest WiFi.
From there, if you turn off the motion/sound recordings, it won't suck up your data. You just put it on continuous local recording and you should be good to go. Then you can manually view your cameras anytime, but that will obviously use data.
Otherwise, if you don't use an SD card then you will use data because you'll have to turn on motion/sound events and then it will record a 12 second clip and send it to the cloud.
I'm looking for a video to help me get my camera to record an event. It just stopped working. Tried factory restore and update. The camera works just event record doesnt work.
If you have your sensitivity settings right, then you might have a problem with the physical camera. You might want to talk to Wyze Support at that point.

If you just want to see what's on the camera, just tap into it from the main page. So I'd just open the Wyze app period.

Great video! For some reason I get no notifications at all. Sound and motion detection are on, as well as notifications on both the wyze app and iPhone settings. What would you advise to do?
That's an odd one...I would test it on another tablet and another phone to maybe see if the notifications are getting out of your network. The tablet would be inside your network so that's a good test to see if it goes there, and then the phone is a good test to get out.

Maybe it is not absolutely complicated, but for me it seems way more complicated than it need to be. I just want it to:
If event, then capture 3 seconds before and 3 seconds after the event (3 seconds before because it is always recording, and would only 'save' a motion event.
Then just log the event in a list ( and notify me).
Then let me click through the list of thumbnail snapshots at relative time=0 for each event, and optionally play the whole 6 seconds.
That's it. No subscription, no cloud, no cool down, no privacy concerns (all on the sd card). Done. Can't it do that?
Added a WYZE sd card but it says I don't have a sd card inserted and now I can't get the card ejected

Have you tried setting up some zones? That might really help. It also might help to move it in that case.
My playback recorded to my SD card has gaps of time where no recording is available. What could cause this?
So I've heard many Wyze Cams struggle with this. Sadly, I think the reason there's no "this is the problem" is because it can come from either the camera or the sd card itself. I'd try a brand new sd card and see if it continues...and then talk to Wyze's support. Or you could talk to Wyze support first if you don't want to spend!

Yes. I have had same issue on numerous occasions. This has happened a few times for a week on all 6 of my cameras . On other times, the SD cards have been completely wiped out. Clean as a 😙 whistle.
Well another Wyze mystery ! None of my 5 cameras are sending notifications to my phone ! I checked everything, the cameras one by one, the events are recorded, the phone is ok with all permissions, emptied the cache, contacter wyze but for nothing helpful they just told me all the steps I already did. My only explanations could be that the cameras are stuck in google home. I noticed my Aqara G3 was appearing as "busy" after using it in Google home and not returning to the "wait" position, so it could be the same for the wyze cams, although I dont see why this would stop the notifications to the phone. Any idea ? I do have CamPlus on all of them.
I heard this about Wyze last week with a few folks.
I don't think Google has anything to do with it though.
One question...any network changes since you last saw good notifications?
@@AutomateYourLife the only change I did was to put each camera in a fixed IP address instead of free DHCP because some cameras would randomly get offline. This should not affect the notifications I think. They all received a wyze update last week also. Funny enough in the app and in each individual cam setting everything is fine for notifications. They all record and register events too. The android phone is all set up to allow notifications from wyze too. It's really a mystery. Also, wyze do send the 2 factors authentication to my phone so the number at wyze is correct.
@@AutomateYourLife And you know what? I Just transferred my SIM to an older phone (S 20 VS S23 ) and there it is working !!!!! So its seems it has to do with Android and One UI !!!!! DAM !!!

Are there monthly fees
There aren't for the basics, but nowadays if you want some features there is a cloud service. For example, Person Detection and cloud storage of greater than 12 second clips every 5 minutes.

Been burned to many times by Wyze updates so I refuse to update because the updates always break things.
You know...I feel like the latest update is OK now. You get person detection back and I haven't found anything of issue yet Jay. Might be positive to go forward with now.
I own several different Wyze products. I have the V2's at my wife's house and the must recently like two weeks ago said it's going to update so I did so. After updating now all four of my V2's are 180° out and upside down. Well there's a button you been toggle specifically for flipping the cameras 180° if you will not or not able to mount them right side up due to space restrictions and dot on. I have tried everything to remedy short of discounting and remounting all four cameras because I was hoping that Wyze Customer Service and the Support Team could address it and they initially respond and then they apparently don't give a shyt because they quit responding. Any help with this matter would be great! I have uninstalled the app, forced it to stop at Wyzes request and notta! I know it is related to the most recent Firmware update and I refuse to update my camera's period anymore. I am just about ready to pull the plug and find that has everything equivalent but BETTER SUPPORT when needed. PLEASE HELP
@@iloveeatingbox This is why I don't update. It's best to read the comments on ALL updates before downloading, regardless of the product. Maybe a factory reset or if you can try to reinstall the previous version back somehow.

turned off or on? I think you mean the Complete Motion Capture and you're right. In this video I even showed that up on screen because they're having an issue right now with those two things working together.
Automate Your Life Yeah. I’m in the deciding dilemma of keeping CMC on all 4 cameras and not having person detection or getting rid of CMC so I can have person detection. But I don’t have cards in any camera so I’d be back to the 12 second record/5 minute cool down. Bummed at what I’d have to lose either way.

Without a good working person detection, this cameras won't be more than nanny cameras. Hopefully they come wit a good solution to fix it soon.
Some folks are reporting that the new one is better...Personally, it's been OK.
@@AutomateYourLife it doesn't make me feel better or change the fact that all of mine are very erratic despite adjustments to the sensitivity spectrum and trying different settings. You say that some people claim it to be better than the previous one but you need to consider also that more than some people are experiencing the same pitfalls as me. It is evident there are serious inconsistencies issues that need to be addressed rather sooner than later.

It seems you cant create a « home » with a canadian postal code. The range between the router and the hub is not on par with brands like Hue or Kaza. The response is slow and notifications are random when even sent. Set up took a few tries before working.All in all so far not a great experience
I imagine that will be coming Philippe. They're just working into the Canadian market.

You failed to show how to get to the settings to set and configure. In your how to videos you are consistently leaving out steps you take for granted that someone who has no knowledge of obviously does not have a clue what your referencing and or how you got to where you are etc!
Hi Todd - I hear what you're saying! Did you notice the full app walk through video that was referenced? It's meant to give you the ability to find everything, and not just the one setting. This is a series that's intended to bring you up to speed 100%, so I hope you can use it.
