    Nice job, Brian. One of the things I like that isn't talked about much is the ability to share a single device with another user. They don't have your account password but use theirs. This not only includes cameras, but also their contact switches, motion detectors, plugs, and bulbs. The use cases for this include using them for caregivers, for relatives, for friends and others. Some folks are uncomfortable giving access to cameras or having access to someone else's cameras, yet with access to a simple motion sensor, they can incorporate that information into monitoring for either desired motion (folks are moving normally inside their house) or motion that isn't desired such as an intruder.

    That "maintain previous state" on the bulbs was really well hidden. Each bulb has to be changed. We get frequent (monthly) power failures here and this will help. Wyze is the best! I hope that Sengled will do the same for their bulbs. Thanks for the heads up, Brian.

    At 1:52 -- Please use the feature at least once before rushing to make a video. "Elect SD Card" is the same as it is on any other device, in any other operating system: it unmounts the card and closes any open files to prevent possible file corruption. It does not shoot the card out of the camera at you.

    I love 💗 Wyze products (from what I’ve seen here on UA-cam) but had a feeling that they wouldn’t expand outside of mainland North America for a couple more years yet. But when you said that magic word “International” my ears pricked up and I honestly got a little excited 😊🥳🎉🤩, but how much international? Just Canada 🇨🇦 and Mexico 🇲🇽 or will they go further? Tried using the Wyse sensors for my fridge, that sit open accidently if you don't close the right door before the left. Have gotten nothing but false alarms constantly, I run Samsung mesh Wi-Fi and don't really have problems with my Wyze cams for what I use them for. Think I'll stick to that, redundant indoor cameras from wyze pointing at my entrances / watching my dog.

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  4 роки тому

      It might be the fridge actually causing some reflection of the signals there...that might be for some reason a tough situation for them to be accurate in. Just a guess Nate...I don't know cause I've never really kept them on my fridge for any length of time.

    Thank you for another informative video! I'm glad to hear Wyze is working on a doorbell. I've been wanting one for some time but up-front cost and monthly costs for the current 'good' devices have made them unattractive to me. I did recently get one from Energizer which has some really nice features, including working with my existing chimes and a really attractive price, but unfortunately a poor camera. Clarity is good but contrast is terrible - I just get video of silhouettes coming to my door, so have to view on my other camera. Also, the vertical angle is poor - I can't see the area in front of the door and the person's head when at the door. I'm expecting Wyze will not have these issues but still be a budget price. Looking forward to your review on it when it does arrive!

      Al Brettnell I’m hoping for a dual camera (like the Maximus Answer dual cam doorbell) that would eliminate the poor vertical angle problem, but I’m not holding my breath as the cost of two cameras would probably be too much. Although if anyone can do it, Wyze can!

    • @albrettnell
      @albrettnell 4 роки тому +1

      @@AutomateYourLife - Yes, I did. I did not consider that one, though, because it does not work with my existing chimes. And have you looked at their site lately? Hi Brian, As to Wyze coming out with an outdoor camera, I've been using three Wyze cameras outdoors (in enclosures) for over a year now, without any issues whatsoever. All of them are mounted under the eves and are protected from most (if not all) bad weather. I've become less impressed with Wyze as a company in general in the past year. Along with the three cameras, I also have Wyze contact and motion sensors. They are all very unreliable. When an event occurs, like open/close, or motion, there will typically be anywhere from a 4 to 10 minute delay in getting notified of the event. This makes these sensors totally useless in any automation or security setups. I've now turned to Samsung Smartthings where I find a variety of way more useful and reliable smart products. Thanks, as always, for your informative videos Brian!

      My Wyze contact sensors are dead on quick after 4 months still always perfect

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  4 роки тому +1

      You know Andy, I've been putting together my thoughts for a troubleshooting type of video for Wyze and their products. I feel like in a lot of cases, that kind of a delay is more based on something else going on. The sensors themselves, just so I'm as clear as I can be, have definitely instantly reported the event. Otherwise, you wouldn't receive the event at all. They don't have any storage space or storage buffer at all.
      So it's getting to your camera...from there, maybe that's where we need to start diagnosing. 4-10 minutes feels like it could be held up somewhere locally waiting for a device to respond like a router. I can't remember though...what's your router/wifi setup like?

    Hi! Love the Wyze products so far, but I have 2 questions:
    1) When will the Wyze Lock get compatibility with Google?
    2) Will they ever have a side entry Plug? I have some that are located behind furniture, and the additional space the Plug takes up makes the furniture stick out further from the walls than I would like.
    Thanks in advance!

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  4 роки тому +2

      1 - That's a tough question to answer. To me, the integration will be much sooner with Alexa. Wyze and Amazon have appeared to me to be partnering much more often. Also, Google's been adjusting to the Works With Nest program, so if I had to bet, it'll start to come in starting in April/May.
      2. I haven't heard of anything from Wyze on a different plug and I get the sense that no...they won't. :( They take product suggestions on their community boards though!

    Great Cam... I've had mine for about a month now. The sad part is I shut it off 90% of the time. The ''Detection Zone'' zone doesn't work with a shit. I've moved the camera 2 times already. ANY motion within the cam View will trigger a notification. I've even tried the ''Detection Zone'' and turned the sensitivity to low on just the hood of my car but it still sees a car drive by 50 feet away and send an alert.

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  4 роки тому

      Yeah...that's why the outdoor camera is being delayed here. There's really not a good way to configure these outdoors, at least not if you have a view of the road or have lights going by.

  • @tomrum42
    @tomrum42 4 роки тому

    I've had a WYZE cam for about a year and loved it when I first got it but it seems that Notification time are getting longer and longer. As an example, and event triggered my cam at 7:03am and I did not get the notification until approx 7:41. Notification times have always been 5 to 15 seconds longer than that of a lot of competitors but had always been within 2 to 3 minutes. Almost 40 mins to get a notification is useless IMO.

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  4 роки тому

      Totally useless. The one thing I'll say is that delay in notifications aren't usually based on the actual cameras. They can't really store notifications so much as they can be delayed by the network and the cloud service. The cloud service is definitely being worked on by Wyze as a major issue with their platform right now, but sometimes we have to look within our own network!

    I wish Wyze would start selling their contact sensor starter kits at Home Depot. And I also wish they would just start selling the Contact Sensor Bridges separately on their website. You need one on each level of your house to get accurate smart home control, but it’s annoying that you have to keep buying starter kits just to get them.

    • @sliderALT
      @sliderALT 4 роки тому

      Automate Your Life Yeah, I’ve bought the Wyzecam/Wyze sense kit before from Home Depot two times, I think. Now I don’t really have anymore need for extra cameras (until they come out with outdoor ones) and just need one more bridge for the kitchen and maybe a few more sensors. Pretty much got all the indoor area cameras I need. All the public areas are covered now. Don’t need more because the only areas left are areas where family needs to sleep or change and don’t want to cover those areas. But yeah, it would be nice to just quickly grab the contact sensor starter kit at a Home Depot and not have to wait for shipping. If not at Home Depot, they should at least put them on Amazon so people can get next day shipping. With my messed up work schedule right now, I hate ordering stuff and then coming back at night when everyone’s trying to sleep and not being able to set up things the way I want for 4 whole days till my off days arrive again.
