I'm not totally sure but after editing this I think the 10-20 might be a tiny little bit sharper, not 100% sure tho 😅

Really appreciate your videos, I’ve picked up my first digital camera a ZV-E10, I was thinking about the Sony 11mm or the 10-20mm, but after watching your video, I think I’d prefer the OSS on the older lens.
Last time I was into photography was in the 90s, when I had a contax slr with a 50mm prime.

Sony A7iv +10-20 goes in apsc mode cropping in or you can remove the black vignetting just zooming in?
There are slight differences in color rendering. And I think that you did not unlock the full potential of the 10-18mm on the ff body, you left it on auto and the camera automatically uses apsc crop mode. It should be set apsc off, and then you zoom to 12-13mm to get rid of vignetting, and than you will have a crazy wide angle.
THIS is the killer app of the 10-18mm 👍 AND you get OSS to boot…🎉
yep i tried the 10-20mm on a7s3 and at 10mm the black vignette is crazy and unusable
@@ikkiandroid1322 I would like to have a 10-18mm but it is expensive used 500 euros (for me), so I decided on a Canon 10-22mm for 180 euros (+40 euros adapter), I use it in the range of 14-22mm without vignetting on the full frame (A7C).
@@ivandj707 i have a canon 8-15mm fisheye i mainly use on my a7s3 with a metabones adapter..no one will tell you that the autofocus doesnt work on video mode, i mean its perfect while on photo mode though..so keep that in mind when choosing to convert lens
@@ikkiandroid1322 You can remove black vignetting in your computer or camera! This is what the camera does in automatic crop mode.

Great comparison! To be honest, through YT I couldn't tell a difference, might be harder on a smartphone.
But if you mix in the Tamron 11-20 2.8 into the mix, the choice gets even harder :D
THANKS A LOT for your videos! I am doing research on my "new used" gear and I think I just found the last piece of equipment that I need for vlogging and for some outdoor walks, talking head video, interior and food photography. I think I'll go with this 10-18 f/4 as this pre-owned lens is 50% cheaper than new 10-20 f/4 that I cannot find anywhere pre-owned. Will also buy Tamron 17-70 f/2.8 (difficult to find a good deal for pre-owned) so probably will go with a new one or will wait for some deals. And with body I am fighting myself to buy used a6300 instead of a6400 which cost 50% of the latter. For the saved money I'll buy some nice gimbal for in-move recordings. Thanks again, great content here, learned a lot!
The 10-18 will be great on the fx30 too!
I think as a vlogger the lack of OSS on the 10-20 is a deal-breaker. The bonus is that the 10-18 will be cheaper.

Did the 10-20 actually work on full frame in full frame mode? Not cropping in? Looks like you were in crop mode? The 10-18 still works full frame mode from about 12-18. Can you confirm if the 10-20 works at all. Especially with the A7IV 10% active steady shot crop, wondering if it’ll stay full frame for any portion.

I didn't see any vignetting when you used a full frame camera. On other posts I've seen vignetting at 10mm, as well as 20mm with a range in the middle. I'm trying to figure out if the vignetting is worse on the new PZ. I've also noticed the older 10-18 has a slight yellow cast.
Purchased the power zoom version last week because of the short focal range for up close and personal floral videos for my UA-cam backgrounds. Works great. Thanks for checking out if it works on full frame...that is great to know! Thanks and till soon, Marcus

Is the 10-20mm compatible with the A7iii?
But does the new 10-20 work on full-frame WITHOUT the crop? While not the best, I do LOVE the fact that the 10-18mm does work on full-frame without the crop from about 12mm.
I think so, I didn't see a big difference from 10-18 to 10-20 on the FF, so I guess the 10-20 didn't crop in - and yea I agree I like the fact that the 10-18 works on ff too

To me, the 10-20mm looked crisper, with more punchy colours but the 10-18mm looked to be suffering slightly less distortion.

Argh so hard to pick , it’s a shame still no camera except gh5 has great video stability similar to GoPro .. but what you think of 11mm f1.8? I worry shooing on fx30 4k60p would be too cropped 🤣
oh the 11mm f1.8 is awesome. i bought mine and it is worth the money.

For everyday photography and full person subject with blur background street photography and rare occasionally shoot video on it plus slow motion?
I like the Sony 4 ways screen, I think it will be nice experience to have the dedicated tactile photography dials on the Fuji and Panasonic setups will be the lightest and 300 fps plus my favorite color is yellow hence I like the Panasonic menu aesthetic! I want my picture to looks realistic and want to shoot JPG/HEIF mostly hence I no longer really into the Fuji film simulation.
I into ultramacro but I not sure should I take it into consideration because you can just google them as they mostly looks the same. I consider full size body or actual pocketable camera because camera in between don't provide good handling yet still need a bag to carry anyway, since RX100 can't provide all what I need, I will just use iPhone 15 for pocket camera. I'm not a bokeh person but want everything in focus with story and creativity and just has few projects need blur background.
I have the 10-18mm f4, 11mm f1.8, 20mm f1.8 G, 16-35mm f4 PZ, Tamron 20-40mm f2.8, and Voigtlander 40mm f1.2. That’s how I put together a kit for wide to normal for APS-C and full frame. Three of these I bought used from my trusted source in Japan.
If you could only have 2 what would they be?
@@v3zMedia For my needs APS-C 10-18mm f4 OSS and the 20mm f1.8. For full frame the 16-35mm f4 PZ or Zeiss ZA earlier version and the Voigtlander 40mm f1.2. If only one on either APS-C or full frame then the Tamron 20-40mm f2.8 is the Jack of All Trades if I can only take one.
@@bradl2636 Nice I appreciate your break down. I'm looking for a good light vlog lens for my A7IV. I already have Sigma 24mm F1.4, Sigma 40mm F1.4 and Samyang 135mm F1.8. So far I'm torn between the Zeiss 18mm F2.8, Sigma 17mm F4, and Sony 10-18 OSS F4. I want good image quality with the least amount of headaches. All are within a $200 differences in the used market right now.
@@v3zMedia Vlogging? Get the 10-18mm f4 before too many folks realise its secret sauce on FF and prices go up. Its good from 13mm on up to 18mm.
how is image quality compared with 10-18mm f4 oss and 11 1.8? i am struggling to choose from 10-18 / 10-22 / 11 1.8, i just want to pick the sharpest one

Man, I love the 10-18 working on my A7IV without the crop. And still being a wide angle 15mm equivalent in 4K60. Plus add that to the lens OSS, and I think the 10-18 is still the better choice here.

This info is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I’m thinking of getting the A7IV and the 10-18mm.. Bhargav, if I’m using the 4k60 mode, the camera crops 1,5x .. does that mean it’s 15-27mm in that mode ? Or is it still 10-18mm because the camera already cropped 1,5x in 4k60 ?? 😅

7:00 - NO, fail. both these lenses do not fill the frame on 35mm. you simply have your camera going into aps-c mode automatically. You're really screwing people here into thinking these lenses fill a 35mm frame.
12mm to 18mm with this 10-18mm no need mode apsc he fill the frame on 35mm

The least he should do is tell us which one is sharper. Both lenses will fill the full frame from 12mm, this is basic. But he does not tell us. Don't ask us which is sharper, that is the purpose of the comparison!
