I am honestly dumbfounded at how many shots of his some of his opponents were able to take and keep fighting... The fact that some of these fighters were able to go the distance and make it to judges decision after getting hit so many times is absolutely mind boggling

Always good to be reminded of how well schooled and conditioned the young Mike Tyson was. This is pure boxing - combinations with bad intentions. Mike's left hook looking for the kill.
His punches are so tight. I mean the force he must have been able to produce with such a powerfully smooth hook with a snap at the end, its unreal. And he had a basket full of position moves, that are near impossible to duplicate without that speed. followed up with an array of combos, of which my favorite was that body shot and uppercut with the same hand.. amazing how many times he was cashing in on that one.

It's a shame how Tyson's life got out of control like it did. In 85 when he was starting his rise to the top, he was literally the best boxer in the world. He was explosive, calculating, technical, well trained and disciplined. He got a feel for his opponent very quickly and adjusted his technique and threw his punches accordingly, making quick work of them. He undoubtedly had power in every punch and jab. He combined expertly placed combinations with lighting speed and had the footwork to keep him balanced and rock steady at the same time allowing him to land powerful blow after powerful blow. Early on, he showed great sportsmanship, always helping his opponent back to his feet, and went to a neutral corner as soon as someone went down or the ref stepped in. I think he lost it when things got too much for him after realizing how badly he was being taken advantage of and seems to have lost guidance from people he trusted and depended on. After seeing him go to work in the ring, it's amazing that anyone in their right mind was willing to get in the ring with him. They were either really brave, really stupid, or really overly confident in their ability to not only throw a punch, but to take one!
Well said. When I think of Tysons career I can't help buy feel sad because he didn't live up to his potential and really prove his place amongst the all time greats even though he had the ability. He still had a great career but not on the level of the best of the best. If he had beaten Holyfield that would've gone a long way towards his legacy
Just look at Tyson's foot-movements to find better angles to deliver the knockout blows. This dude is so underestimated. A majority of boxers don't pivot like this and, stay in one spot throwing punches. A technician, indeed, this Tyson!
Tyson's prime was 85-88. Lots of variables can be considered when something is in it's prime, age is just one of them. The day Don King fired Kevin Rooney In 1988 was the day Mike Tyson's career ended. The trainers Don King hired were sycophants who turned Tyson into a head hunter who was encouraged to take short cuts just because he was 'Mike Tyson'. Rooney would have never allowed Mike to Slack off like that. Out of the window went Tyson's lethal combinations, his elusiveness, his head movement, his footwork, his unbelievable work ethic, his overall discipline, fitness and not forgetting, his mental health. Mike Tyson never lost a fight with Kevin Rooney as his trainer. Don King was an evil blood sucking narcissist leech and Tyson was an extremely troubled RICH young man who was very malleable and open to manipulation. Don King KNEW this and did EVERYTHING in his power to bleed him dry. Kevin Rooney on Tyson's Decline: " Because Mike has had no guidance since he left me, he just does what he wants, His mind set is 'I'm the man.' But, a lot of fighters get like that. They forget the training that was there when they were just a little pup. Mike won't listen to anybody! If he felt he was in shape and needed to take off 5 or 10 pounds, he would just dry out. When I had Mike, he worked out. There was no need to dry out! He work out hard! That's what made him the best fighter and youngest heavyweight champion in the world. Mike didn't respect those guys. He knows more than them... and he knows it too. Those trainers that he's had, they don't know anything! Mike couldn't pull that shit with me. When it came to style, technique and all that, he couldn't go head to head with me. When he had those other guys, they didn't know what to tell him". The Tyson of 85-88 is technically the BEST heavyweight there's ever been and ever will be. The combination of natural talent, his genetics, SPEED, FREAKISH POWER, WORK ETHIC, Great punch resistance, Punch leverage and amazing DEFENSE with his constant head moment will NEVER, EVER be matched. He was a MACHINE. With the classic tyson, 85-88 (his prime) if he found you, you lose, it's that simple. In that period his defense was superior to anyone and Tyson in that young classic era had 20 rounds of stamina. Tyson barely lost a minute of any round for 4 years. He possessed the fastest muscle fiber twitching of any heavyweight since Ali.You cannot compete with that force of nature. 85-88 Tyson had the perfect balance of speed, power, stamina, conditioning, knowledge of the fight game(having watched over 2000 films of past champions) the best corner, the best fight ideology for short fighters. A concrete chin. Tyson post 88? forget it, not the same fighter, didn't train, took coke, weed, crack, you name it, not even the same person as the Motivated pre 88 Tyson who LIVED in the Gym. Why do you think people say 'Ali OR Tyson?' and not Ali OR Lewis, Ali OR Holyfield, It's always "Ali OR Tyson" FOR A REASON.
You're absolutely on point. Don king ruined Mike Tyson's career. If not for Don king ,Mike Tyson would've become the undisputed heavyweight boxing champion of all time. It was hurting to see such a talent cut short and wasted at his prime.
Emerald City /yours were the most insightful, intelligent incomplete comments about Tyson. Your analysis really touches my heart and said exactly what I feel. You’re very smart and said it correctly. Thank you

Great video, thank you so much for making this, awesome footage, the ear chomp in the Holyfield rematch, and the losses, just great moments to relive. Thank you.
Peak Tyson would have beaten peak anyone. But off peak he had deep weaknesses to character. I think he would admit that himself. The most impressive thing is how Mike has reinvented himself and seems a genuine caring likable guy
Tyson 84-88 was a beast.....fast ,nasty, aggressive, elusive, powerful and hungry.....at this time in his career he'd have troubled ANY heavyweight in ANY ERA....
People can say all the negative things they want about Mike but you have got to admit the heavyweight division hasn't been the same since he's been gone everyone knows in Tyson's prime he would have beat any boxer from any era even some of the greatest boxers have said so just give him his credit he was amazing great video

One does certainty AGREES...... GO ENJOYING MIKE'S LEGACY.... "ANOTHER HUGE RIGHT HAND" TYSON VS FOREMAN,ALTA MATE HEAVYWEIGHT SHOWDOWN, 2 KILLER'S......GEORGE FOREMAN,ANOTHER KNOCK OUT specialist.......... DON'T YOU AGREES.....
Bascorasco Definitely not, Tyson was the most aggressive and hard hitting boxer of his time and considering the fact he is high on coke appearently in some of his fights he would pose a very real threat to Ali
cran vine it's easy to look amazing when you are fighting bums and has beens like Tyson did. The second he fought quality opposition he got his ass kicked. Tyson had absolutely no character, psychologically weak, no class, no brains and no heart. Ali would mind fuck him before the fight. Tyson was a bully, he didn't stand for anything and if he fought someone who wasn't afraid of him he crumbled. Tyson is one of the most overrated fighter ever. Ali the great would destroy Tyson in 8.
Bascorasco Whoa whoa whoa, what are you talking about? Absolute madness. Bums and has beens? The competition he fought earlier in his career were far from has beens. He does have an interesting character, in recent years has reflected on his mistakes and showed considerable insight and maturity, is a true boxing historian - his knowledge of the sport is the stuff of legend praised by many iconic boxing historians thanks to Cus D'amato's teaching, he is actually quite intelligent (his break downs and play by plays of his successes and mistakes in earlier fights makes your statement false) and far from a bully. He was a competitive boxer that, yes, used intimidation (isn't the first nor will be the last) to unnerve opponents and lost his way after the death of Cus D'amato. Buster Douglas was a has been that Mike shouldn't have lost to. Mike went astray following Cus' death and allowed bums to beat him by getting involved with the wrong crowds, being manipulated and robbed by Don King. Cus D'amato was the nurturing figure that took a shy kid out of shitty circumstances that would cry when bullies killed his birds, took him in and turned him into a true boxer, but wasn't around to keep him from becoming a monster for a brief period of time. Had Cus D'amato lived longer, many argue Tyson would have held the belt for much longer. Tyson does belong up there as one of the best of all time.. Note "one" of. You like many others took his theatrics too literally, fail to realize this is a man that did his time, made mistakes and has fessed up to it - being more self deprecating and apologetic now upon reflecting on his mistakes as an older wiser individual. The current "Tyson" was always the shy kid always present in the past even during his monster days.. While I agree Ali is great, your attempted takedown of Tyson shows a true lack of respect (dare I say due to ignorance of the man's true history and informed by tabloid theatrics) of the road he walked and how far he's come.
Tyson with his head movement, uppercuts, left hooks and short right hands, body punching he was lethal, if he carried on fighting in the same way, he would've been unbeatable but somehow his fighting skills have changed later on. Against Douglas, the referee was taking his time to count when Douglas was knocked out, and saved by the bell, by then Tyson ran out of steam really.
Yes he was the best. Get over it. Some Tyson haters say he didn't defeat any top champ, only ordinary boxers... No, this is not true. The point is that next to Tyson EVERYONE seemed run-of-the-mill fighters...
@Joseph if you think Tyson was just a brawler you're blind. Evander was a great fighter but overall Tyson is levels above Evander. You act like nobody knows about jabs. You know that damn near all of the fighters he went up against had a longer reach and tried using the jab to keep distance. Every fighter knew that it was over if he got inside. This is basic fucking boxing knowledge.
PS. Well I hope Mike's at least happy and more in peace with himself now, when he stopped boxing than when he was on the ring. Damn - what a life, man!
O yeah,"swinging an missing Mike Tyson"Tyson v Buster Mathis Junior. Was so so excited when Tyson came out of prison, win's WBCouncil Championship, 3rd com we back fight,4th match win's WBA TITLE ALL WITH IN A YEAR,HIGHLY IMPRESSIVE. Not nearly, that's absolutely incredible, considering some of the greats he at time's PLAYED WITH...
You watch this legend and you have to say nobody has ever, displayed the punching power like Iron Mike Tyson! What a chin from Tucker,Ruddock, Tubbs and Holmes.Douglas what a ko.
Mate, I straight up had a fly buzzing around me & when I swooshed it away & looked back up on my 60" screen across the room, I was like, "That's a bigass fly & how the crap did it get over there already?... No, wait What?" Hahahaha
I remember a Tyson fight on national TV. Thought let me quickly take a 1 min shower before the show......and Dad told me the show was already all over?? WTF!
Mohammed Ali never said that he could be defeated by anyone except when he was asked about Mike Tyson. Tyson was a beast before he went to jail, and no one ever dared to explode in the ring in front of him. His opponents always tried to calm the fight down. Many boxers like Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield only showed up after he went to jail in which he lost his skills. He will stay one of the few distinguished fighters in the history of boxing, and apparently the toughest fighter ever. PERIOD.
Headbutter was so juiced up it was unreal look at him vs buster Douglas then a few others then tyson god he was so juiced up when he used to take a beating he would cum back at u stronger as that's what peds do u recover faster
Kudos for an amazing, comprehensive compilation put together artfully! How can you not love and respect Mike Tyson, even with the hyper-aggression and unsportsmanlike behavior in the ring (although it is probably this very aggression which propelled him to the top of the mountain)? Also amazing to see how much Mike evolved as a human being post-boxing.
Unsportsmanlike behavior? You mean like hitting opponents on the hip? Using his elbows or forearms? Using his head? Or at the end of each round trying to get himself in position to throw a shot after the bell rings? And referees consistently let him get away with it. Somehow boxing fans never held that stuff against him.
@@rudimwongozi2169 I watched the whole video. Tyson did have a bad habit of throwing shots after the bell. And the bad thing about it is that he didn't need to do that. He was going to win most of those fights anyway. But I was analyzing the Holyfield fights, and yes I know Tyson lost his mind biting Holyfield's ear, but Holyfield was headbutting the man. I suppose you can call it karma for all of Tyson's shots after the bell though. I don't know if he had a chance against Lewis anyway, but he looked like he took a lot of unnecessary punishment. He looked like he wasn't using that great ability he had to evade punches. I don't think his heart was even in boxing at that point.
Great video! Young Mike Tyson is my favorite boxer ever and a huge inspiration to me. Also, thank you to the person who put all the time and effort into making this video :)
@@jonfred9675 Who was Tyson supposed to be fighting then? Not his fault the HW scene was lame back then. I don't think Razor Ruddock was a bad fighter.
@@jonfred9675 I'm not sure what your definition of a proper fighter is. If you consider it as anyone who's ever beaten Tyson, your biased and ignorant hatred of the man shines brightly.
Yeah, how could you not great him beforehand lol? I mean, these guys have already seen what he's done to other guys. Plus, when they get in the ring, Tyson's looking at them like a lion eyeing a gazelle on the Serengeti. Go back and look at the referee giving instructions before the Tyson-McNeely fight. Mike looks like he's about to eat McNeely.
Tyson didn't even come to fight Buster Douglas. That entire fight he looked as if he was somewhere else. And, Holyfield was headbutting the Hell out of Tyson lol. At the end of the day Tyson should have stuck to the peek-a-boo style that Cus taught him because no one had an answer for it. Once he began to tweek it, his downfall began. However, from the 7th through 37th fight he could beat any fighter in history...Ali included.
There were almost THREE Tysons, the one Rooney trained ,The Decline pre-prison was 2nd then POST Prison the 3rd.The First Tyson was awesome, one of the greats, the 2nd was a man in turmoil who won by his power, until he didnt train for Buster(whom he KO'D in reality)then the post prison Mike was a shadow of his former self.SAD .You were GREAT MIKE
2:40 I wonder what reaction Michael Buffer would have had if someone told him that night that 35 years later, he’d be interviewed by Mike on his podcast while Mike sat around getting high and that it would have over 785,000 views on peoples’ phones and computers.
OK, *this* is the fight I remember watching years ago when Tyson knocked out his opponent while he was in full guard position. It was Tyson Vs Benjamin and you can see it at 8:10 . Boxers typically guard themselves to rest and buy time. It is almost unheard of for a boxer to be literally knocked completely out while keeping his head under his arms for protection. This is a testament to Tysons power but also his incredible skill to get his devastating punches to land in between and around Benjamin's arms. Absolutely amazing.
Tyson was a hard-punching quick-moving little guy that hit with authority and was probably the best fighter pound for pound there had been for a long time and if he had kept his eye on his boxing and hadn't got into trouble would have been the greatest boxer of all time. I think he was the greatest. What a record.
@scarface 38 That's calling the kettle black. Tyson was a dirty fighter. Bit Holyfield and tried to Break the arm of the guy from Ireland. You know, the guy who Tyson refused to continue fighting. The guy who retired Tyson... The White Man, remember?
And usually Tyson was angry at the refs for making him finish guys off. He was really upset about the referee making him finish off Larry Holmes he had a lot of respect for him.
Yeah, his defense and head movement get overlooked quite a bit because his punching power takes center stage. He used to make guys miss a lot and if they got off balance or left their hands down, he was on em.
I see what you mean, but it was a hell of a run, and NO ONE stays on top forever, we just aren't built that way, but yes what a great fighter in his prime, IMO the best HW ever, the power is just astonishing to watch, love IRON MIKE

EVERY 6 TO 8 MONTHS I WATCH A BUNCH OF TYSON VIDS

In so many of Tyson's fights you can spot the actual moment when the other guy figures out he doesn't want any more of Tyson.

A boxer who devastates all opponents with the same style, aggression, power and speed with precision, the best of the box
Just look at Tyson's foot-movements to find better angles to deliver the knockout blows. This dude is so underestimated. A majority of boxers don't pivot like this and, stay in one spot throwing punches. A technician, indeed, this Tyson!

Who is Mike underestimated by? You?
Kevin Rooney on Tyson's Decline:
" Because Mike has had no guidance since he left me, he just does what he wants, His mind set is 'I'm the man.' But, a lot of fighters get like that.
Absolutely right
You're absolutely on point. Don king ruined Mike Tyson's career. If not for Don king ,Mike Tyson would've become the undisputed heavyweight boxing champion of all time. It was hurting to see such a talent cut short and wasted at his prime.

Peak Tyson would have beaten peak anyone. But off peak he had deep weaknesses to character. I think he would admit that himself. The most impressive thing is how Mike has reinvented himself and seems a genuine caring likable guy

Informed that to those Ali fans who think a young Tyson would lose to him.
Janette Fujiwara Ali would kill him.
Bascorasco
Definitely not, Tyson was the most aggressive and hard hitting boxer of his time and considering the fact he is high on coke appearently in some of his fights he would pose a very real threat to Ali
cran vine it's easy to look amazing when you are fighting bums and has beens like Tyson did.
Making rag dolls out of man since '85. To Mike!

That was the first fight I ever purchased on PPV. I thought Tyson won but the count was way off.
Thanks for sharing this was a great vid to watch, brought back some great memories from back in the day.

Рядом с тобой Привет из России Майк
