    great video.my wife wants that lite bar on her new jeep. one word of advise, your last step when you wire tied everything, instead of tying up tight in a figure 8 pattern, wrap and tie excess wire in a circle.over time the current could short out and cause an engine fire.I am a firefighter and have been for almost 20 years.same principal as wrapping alight cord around the base of a lamp and plugin it in.

    Thanks for this video. Wasn't quite sure how to wire this under the hood and where to feed through the cab of the jeep. Video was very helpful as my light bar came with no instructions from the manufacturer of vendor. Installing today, this helps a great deal.

    I just saw your video. I purchased one of those $200 light bars and was surprised when I received a newer bar (where the power cable is routed towards the rear). In no way will it interfere with the light bar mount. I am having the light bar painted, like you did, for that finished touch! I am also getting tabs welded on the posts for pillar lights first. Nice demo, keep it up!

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  9 років тому

      Thanks for the comment! Barry Grauel No way, that is awesome! Am glad you were able to take advantage of that great sale price plus you received the newer light bar! Cant do better than that! Please send me a photo of how it turns out I would love to see. Also, I am not sure what you mean by "getting tabs welded on the posts for pillar lights first"? Thanks for your encouragement! I just purchased and installed a gibson exhaust system, I will be bringing you that video shortly. Feel free to subscribe to stay tune. Thanks

    • @barrygrauel9321

      AdventureDex I will get some photos of the end result! I currently have some KC Hilites mounted on the lower part of the wind shield. I am having similar tabs welded onto these LED Light bar mounts so I can keep those lights at the base of the wind shield. I actually purchased the LED replacement bulbs for the 130W spot beams I use now.
      Also, a few months ago I updated my exhaust with a Borla system...very nice upgrade. I can't wait to see your new exhaust system on video! Keep Jeeping it up!

    great video bro!!! just wondering if you could flip the light bar around so the wire would be on the passenger side and looks like it would clear the bracket.

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  8 років тому

      +Rob Vaz Thanks a lot bro! Yes, it doesn't matter which side you wire the light on both brackets are the same. The only factors to keep in mind are the battery is on one side and the drivers location is on the other. So check your wiring harness before you install your light bar! Thanks for watching!

    Great video bud. I wish I found this sooner as the Rough Country discontinued light bar is no longer on Amazon.... I can't spend $500 on a light bar, so I may go with one of the cheapo ones on Amazon. They have pretty decent reviews and quite honestly, they all look the same. But thank you for video. You did a great job of hiding the wire and exceptional work!.

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  9 років тому

      Thanks for the comment Diesel Mike Yeah, its a bummer that they only had a limited amount of the $200 light bar it was a steal of a deal! As for choosing a cheaper option, I have a friend who works for an LED light company and can probably hook you up with a light bar at a good price! As far as the difference in quality between the big name brands and the new upcoming LED companies is really only the name. Pretty much all are made in China lol. Email "sales@mail.Oslamp.com" ask for "Zac" and tell them "AdventureDex from youtube" sent you and they will definitely take care of you! Thanks for watching! Let me know how it goes!

    I must say first off bro get some open end wrenches for your battery connection. lol I was waiting to see how you got that wire harness under the body near the drivers side mount. Where you put the wire into the engine compartment. Other than that it looks cool.

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  7 років тому

      +thorntonater Thanks a lot bro. Sometimes you just gotta use the tools that are laying around the garage! All the wires are ran through the firewall under the drivers side dash. Thanks for watching!

    • @thorntonater
      @thorntonater 7 років тому +1

      at 11 min 35 seconds you put wire under fender upper wall near the wiper. how did the wire harness get past there. You kinda skipped that process.

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  7 років тому +1

      Once you unscrew those 2 bolts no the panel above the wipers, it will lift up and you can get the wire into the engine compartment. Hopefully that makes sense.

      Thanks for your comment Alan Shapiro I had to get the windshield mounts painted by a local auto body shop. I wanted them to color match my smooth gloss paint on the Jeep so they sanded, primed and painted them. It cost me $30 dollars per mount. The $60 dollars they charged me was well worth the outcome, I love how they look when they are color-matched. You can find the exact color of your jeep on the inside of the drivers door! Hi. I'm looking at the same light bar. I believe it's also branded "Cree" and others depending on the seller. How are you liking it so far? How does it perform in wet weather, any leaks or lens fog?

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  9 років тому

      Cowboy Boots Thanks for the comment! This is my second LED "Cree" Light Bar from Rough Country and I am very pleased with their product. I was lucky to be able to purchase this Light bar discounted but its worth every penny! I have had zero issues with wet weather, there are no signs of leaking or fog on the lens. The only complaint I have is that there is a minor whistle at speeds over 40+ MPH but besides that I would highly recommend because this light bar is super bright and build very well! Feel free to subscribe and you will receive a notification when I post the review video on the Light bar. Thanks

    Great video. One quick question. When you passed the wire underneath the support bar on the driver side did it affect the way the support bar fitted on the jeep? did it squeeze the wire? Did it end up changing the allignment of the bar to the light is directed more to the right of the vehicule?

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  8 років тому

      +eric Trudel Thanks for the comment. I am assuming you are talking about the 50" windshield brackets. Those are made to have a wire run down the inside of them between the body of the Jeep and the bracket. It is a tight squeeze and you do have to be patient because it can be frustrating to get it perfect but it will fit if you take your time. I have not noticed any side efforts from running the wires this way. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

    In my second firewall I believe there is a clutch pipe or something like that , because my jeep is a stick shift . Is there any way to work around that ?

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  9 років тому +1

      Drew Trice There should be enough room to squeeze your cables through there otherwise there should be a second firewall plug higher up which you can located form inside the engine bay. If you make a small slit in the firewall it should give you extra space without compromising its strength. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the tips. Buying mine tomorrow but it only comes in a rough flat black. Would like to make it glossy. Some have suggested Plasti Dip. Don't know if that will make it glossy though. I live in Dubai and am sometimes limited to what I can find out here to my taste... Any suggestions? Did you order yours white to match your JK or did you paint them?

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  8 років тому

      +Jose Rodriguez Thanks of the comment bro! My brackets came in a textured black finish and I also wanted to change the color of the brackets to match my Jeep. I took the brackets to a local auto shop and asked them to sand them down a little bit and spray them with auto paint to match my white Jeep. They did it and charged me $60 for both sides. It shouldn't be too hard to find someone who could paint them for you! I hope that helps! Be sure to use the links in the description for exact products seen in this video. Thanks for watching!

    Question, where you ran the switch threw, I do not have that hole, New 2016 willy. Any advise, I don't want to drill if I don't have to.

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  8 років тому

      +Philip Haigh Thanks for the question! You don't have to drill a hole, every Jeep has a firewall plug. It might be relocated on the 2016 willy but it has to be there. It is the same hole that the factory used to get wires from the engine compartment to the interior. The best advise I can give you is use a flashlight and look for a rubber grommet on the firewall. If the hole is too small you can cut a slit in it to fit more wires through it. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

    I'm planning to buy an 50" led bar for my truck and a pair of small fog lights also. my question is can a wiring harness support both led bars or ill have to buy each led bar the 50" and the fog lights each wiring harness?

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  9 років тому

      Rey Martinez Thanks for the comment and question! It all depends on how you want them to be controlled. The easiest way to wire them, would be to get 2 separate wiring harnesses for like $15 and they come with the relay, fuse and switch all pre-wired. Run them to the battery and each light and your good to go. So you will have a serape switch for those light. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

    Are you having any whistling on your light bar? I installed one on my Jeep and it’s making a whistling noise and I’ve tried different ways to get rid of it and nothing has fully worked. I’ve tried some trim and I’ve order 3 different brands of silencers for light bars and nothing has worked. If your light bar whistles what do you do to get rid of it?

  • @josh11513

    how did you connect the switch? did you drill into the dash part, or use adhesive? also how did you hide the wires once in the cab?

    • @adventuredex
      @adventuredex  9 років тому

      Thanks for the comment joshf 22 The wire harness (switch) that came with this LED light had an adhesive sticker on the back of it. I ran that switch from the wire harness through the firewall which is located under the drivers dash (at the top left) and then I ran the wire up behind the steering column and out through the side of the steering wheel and then just stuck it to the side of the steering wheel. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

    Ok, so I'm installing my Rough Country windshield light bar brackets and Rough Country light bar....my concern is tucking the light bar cable behind the driver side light bracket....doesn't it leave a big gap between the bracket and pillar? ...AND couldn't tightening the bracket down with light bar power cable be damaged when tightened? What about light pattern being more to the right (passenger side) since the bracket would stick out more in the driver side because of the power cable.

    • @adventuredex
