The problem with arena fighters imo is that they found a formula that worked and now they reuse it for just about every anime and their sequel. It doesn't have the same flare that it use to have and the same can be said with musou games.
Anime fans will buy any game that has their favorite title on the cover regardless of quality. But tbf as a developer, most shonen anime has fighting in it so making arena fighters is the easiest route and profitable as majority of gamers have a hard time with traditional fighting games.
Fist of the North Star lost paradise was actually pretty great same with berserk and the band of the hawk game then again bandai namco wasn't in charge of those two which bandai namco has a hand in most anime games being made
Those devs are just lazy, it's that easy to make a good anime game: Demon Slayer - Skyrim Bleach - Devil May Cry 7 Deadly Sins - God of War One Piece - GTA
Oh dayumm yeah a dmc styled bleach game actually would kick ass. I can actually imagine combining with rukia’s shikai or byakuya using senbonsakura to stun the enemies to get up to them and beat the shit out of them. And bankai can just be the replacement for devil trigger
You think there'd be enough content in an anime series to put out some entirely original stuff, yet from DBZ to Naruto to Demon Slayer, they just follow the story from the actual series multiple times and bring them back over and over again with each entry. At least on the DS, Yugioh 5D's took the plot of the three series and found a way to put the player in there without just replacing Yusei each time - they even introduced brand new characters to feel like the player exists separate enough from the main characters and have their own story happening before it converges with the main anime story arc - too bad there wasn't anything else that wasn't just a card game simulator until two years ago with Yugioh Sevens where they just have the player retread the anime's plot *_after the events had already happened_* without anything actually original to make it feel unique. The only unique game, Saikiyo Card Battle, was exclusive to Japan, and not only have they kept the Rush Duel DLC Japan only, but the follow-up for Go-Rush is nearly over and hasn't received any news of a dub - instead Konami just keeps being Konami and only gives updates to their free-to-play pay-to-win games, Duel Links and Master Duel, so it's clear where their focus lies (it's money, it's always been about money.)
Okay your take on xenoverse was kinda iffy tbh. Like you realize that saibamen and those frieza force members are only in the game to pad out parallel quest and story content, this isn't to say that the other characters shouldn't be involved but they still have a lot of characters in the game. Not to mention the appeal of Xenoverse is creating your own characters, which they definitely nailed better than any other anime game would ever hope to achieve. The base story is whatever but the dlc story has been pretty good especially with the recent stuff they added. Also in comparison to bt3 xenoverse there is more stuff to do like raid battles, you yourself can even be a raid boss. They have a card game in the game as well, with world tournament things occasionally along with monthly raid bosses that give you medals and unique keys you can use to unlock and customize characters like ssj4 gogeta you get the picture. TL DR: Im not saying Xenoverse 2 is the best db game (I personally think it's fighterz cause I like traditional fighting games) but lets not act like xenoverse has nothing to offer when if you look at the other anime shows and even some of the other games in the db sphere the xenoverse is pretty solid especially if its sold 10 million copies along with fighterz

At least OPMs Avatar Customisation had better options than Jump Force... which says more about how bad the customisation was in Jump Force rathee than that there were neat ideas in OPMs. I don't know if you checked it out, but one of the things you could do is pick an item and change it's position, size, rotation etc. And having up to 8 Accessoires that you can edit to fit as you want them to, it allowed for really cool and really dumb stuff to be made. Also, Bruh, Attack on Titan is the least "Warrior" game made by Koei. Also also, Pirate Warriors was so good! Each installment getting better, peaking at 3... before the AOT game Director said "Let's add big guys and destructible environments." and shat all over the core gameplay 1-3 established. And yeah, the Beserk game had its issues and I can see how people are disappointed with it... but it's still better than PW4. Just don't say that to people who are strong One Piece Fans, because they won't shut up about how cool it is that Whitebeard has the right size now and how cool it is to play as Big Mom or Kaido... But that's just like Anime games in general. Give them the popular picks on the Hero and Villain side to play and whatever slop you produce will sell. 100%.

It's a bit basic, but it gets the fun to play part down.

I hate how majority of the anime shows based on manga/light novel made into a game are usually FIGHTING GAMES. And what's with these PvP anime games? Why can't they make single player PvE games? I don't mind coop in it. Oh, it's because of Naruto Ninja Storm and DBZ Fighterz. I honestly thought One Piece Odyssey was alright, One Piece Pirate Warriors was alright, and DBZ Kakarot was good. I also thing some of the non Fighting game on the GBA/DS were good like One Piece GBA, DBZ Legacy of Goku, Naruto Ninja Council, and Naruto Path of the Ninja. I think these anime games would be decent as a PvE "Arena Fighter" game similar to Granblue Fantasy Relink.
I played SAO: Fatal Bullet for 26.7 hours it says, enough to be in new game plus. Everything about that game that isn't SAO is great. Everything that IS SAO just gets in the way and ruins it. Although, I know next to nothing about SAO
There are a few exceptions to the rule. I'll just list a few off the top of my head. Okay, these aren't modern games, but if you have the budget its worth the price. Bleach the Heat games. I recomend number 6. It wasm fairly balanced and a solid fighter. The computer player set on the highest difficulty was a real challenge (for me). It was a ton of fun. Jump Super/Ultimate Stars. Both games on the Nintendo DS were great Smash Bros. like fighting games that pulled from popular shonein anime fromn roughly 15 years ago. Nintendo DS and PSP Yu-Gi-Oh! games were peak Yu-Gi-Oh! single player games. Okay, you don't have all the new mechanics and cards, but if you just want to play against computer opponents (and honestly there are times where I want that simplier expperience), these games have you covered. Also, to those that argue if these are anime games, the card game came second. The original manga and anime well known as season 0, the card game wasn't fleshed out and wasn't the focus of the show. It wouldn't become the main aspect the show was based on till the second season which also changed some events and dropped characters like Miho.

I agree with you both of the South Park games are amazing. Proof that licensed properties can have good games. They managed to make the games feel like your playing an episode of the show. It helps that the creators were directly involved with the development of the games too. We need more good licensed games like those.
Layman's terms: STOP BUYING ANIME GAMES!!!!!!!!😂 Unless they're being made by reputable, big name, top tier developers like Arc System Works! Dragon Ball FighterZ broke the curse.
Heroes was before Xenoverse. It's an arcade game and have limited movements of course they can do more. Kakarot is soooooo much better than Fighterz. I beat the Fighter story played it for a month then only checked in on DLC characters. Kakarot has lore, music, places from the series all sorts of things made me so nostalgic. 2D fighters are so limited espicially for series like DBZ. Also yeah Chiaotzu is missing but were you seriously going to play as him? Also those grunts are enemies in game and it'd be a waste to have them in but not playable.
Yeah kakarot has more content than fighterz but fighterz is an actual good game lmao Fighting game "content" is the depth and the knowledge learned from playing it with others, kakarot was dogshit and forgotten after the last dlc meanwhile people are still playing (and praising) fighterz to this day lmaooooooo
Naruto Uzumaki Chronicles 1 and 2 are extremely underrated game that keep the vibe of the show, are distinct from the show, and are fun. I remember playing Ninja Storm on the PS2 and kinda enjoying it for the one-to-one adaptation from the show but found it overwhelming and not as engaging. Anime games have great potential, but it seems that publishers are obsessed with chasing trends and "desired" components and try not to deviate from the show too much. In Uzumaki Chronicles, the first game has you eventually coming across the aftermaths of Orochimaru's experimentation on isolated towns and villages dealing with biological weapons and animation/brainwashing. It becomes very dark and unnerving, which contrasts with more silly funny moments that is the game's opening tone. The sequel has to deal with Puppet Master Ninjas (or whatever they are called) attempting to bring about the resurrection of some ultimate "Puppet", which is more of a self-aware and sentient large mechanical puppet on par in power with some tailed beasts of the show. It is sad that this game is almost forgotten while Ninja Storm is still being made and is more less a rehash of the anime.
I do agree that the MHA game had waaaaay more potential, but the game by itself is pretty fun! I also like how the 2nd game feels like an actual continuation, improving basically everything about the game and just making it the better option entirely. Even if you disagree with me (which is understandable), you gotta admit that the music (at least for the first game) was pretty solid! As for the new battle royale game, I don't see the reused models as a bad thing. The models honestly look very good and it's nice to see the change in gameplay that is closer to the ideal MHA game than just another arena fighter. What are your views on the mobile game though (The Strongest Hero)? I don't have much to say since I haven't played it, but it looks cool. Surprised you didn't talk about Jump Force though. Though I would understand since there's not much to add from what everyone else is saying, I kinda expected that you would even hint it. With all my points aside, great video! The other comments pretty much sum up how I feel about it. Keep going strong dude!
First off thanks for watching and listening to the video! As for the 2nd game I think there a improvements but it feels like they dev team could have been given more time to do so much more. I haven’t play the mobile game so don’t have much an opinion, besides the fact that I’m not huge into mobile games. I was debating on mentioning jump force but I felt like I’d just be treading same ground, saying a lot of what I’ve already said. But thanks for the genuine comment and respecting different opinions. I love the comments that keep the discussion going on after the video. Finally to end my longest response to a comment thank you again for your support!
Also you nailed it with dbz. I always buy the games when they release hoping to get one that can hold up to budukai and tenchiechi but... well you said it
Anime games suck in general, the story may be interesting but the dialogue is so unrealistic, fake, repetitive, and cringe, how did a grown-up had written that?
First off, you're folks were OK with you watching gratuitous violence via dismemberment and obliteration by energy blasts, but they draw the line at SpongeBob saying "shut up" Yeah, kinda wierd ngl. Lol Second, yes I very much remember the constant downpour of licensed games based on popular cartoons. Granted, there are some gems here and there, but a lot of them are just plain shit. Speaking of, surprised you didn't mention DBZ Sagas. That was a legendary stinker right there.
Yeah it’s still really weird to me that SpongeBob was on the “no watching” list. I was gonna talk about DB Sagas but I felt like I was already rambling on for too long lol. Hey but thanks for watching the video it means a lot!!
Even I can see how anime games can suck! which seems like anime games now are just the same! aka arena fighters that just play the same like the rest! Which seeing with anime games before there were so much cool anime games that give such original ideas! but since now there are hardly any newer anime games. That give newer ideas which it's sad at this point while! I also find it sad how one of my favorite anime series that I watch when I was a kid and that is called bleach Finally gotten a newer video game! which was cool that bleach finally gotten a newer video game that isn't a mobile game but only to heard that it's just an arena fighter. Like ON COME ON! WHY NOT MAKE SOMETHING NEW INSTEAD OF MAKING THE SAME THING SLAP WITH AN ANIME SERIES CALLED BLEACH ON IT THAT WOULD JUST PLAY THE SAME LIKE THE OTHER GAMES!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! 💀like damn I think it is just ridiculous since they decide just to make an unoriginal anime arena fighter game. Of bleach but yet they still haven't make a remastered for bleach soul resurreccion! to be on the modern consoles and even on pc too! aka on steam which I find it ashamed! That bleach soul resurreccion is still stuck on the ps3! which the only way to play that bleach game is on a game emulator which can be a smart thing to do if you want to play it. Since old games nowadays are getting more rare and expensive to get nowadays which game emulators can be a good thing for you to play those older games that never got to Be on the modern platforms but it is a shame many of those game emulators sites get taken down by game companies aka nintendo since they will take it down for game privacy. But yet they don't even bother to sell those games anymore? like why bother take a game emulator site down even when they ain't stealing money from you though when those Games can't even be bought no more.. but damn it's just unfortunate to see that an anime series aka bleach finally gets a newer video that that is just an arena fighter though. While bleach still has a cool video game that deserve to have been free from the ps3 but they still decide to let it be trap on the ps3 while make something so unoriginal as heck! Which I can see how anime games suck seeing how they are all the same! every time we would get a newer anime game it's just going to be an arena fighter which it's just the same Game over and over again which just as same as the lego games that are the same thing too which both can just suck as heck.
The problem with arena fighters imo is that they found a formula that worked and now they reuse it for just about every anime and their sequel. It doesn't have the same flare that it use to have and the same can be said with musou games.
Exactly, I can't imagine how it feels to work on a licensed anime video game.

Just started watching your content and it's great.
Also you nailed it with dbz. I always buy the games when they release hoping to get one that can hold up to budukai and tenchiechi but... well you said it
Thanks for checkin out my stuff! I hope you stick around to see more! Also fingers crossed for better DBZ games in the future heh!!
Anime games suck in general, the story may be interesting but the dialogue is so unrealistic, fake, repetitive, and cringe, how did a grown-up had written that?
Too fucking true!
Yes u r right anime game sucks....that's true😭
It’s a cruel fate! And thanks for watching!
Woah!!! Someone else who dislikes sao?? Crazy.
Indeed a very original and not common opinion.
Genshin Impact is a Chinese game xd
Sparking Zero>>>>>>
its not even out man
Can't wait to pay 100 for reskins in the ultimate edition
Type Shi bout to be peak tho
First off, you're folks were OK with you watching gratuitous violence via dismemberment and obliteration by energy blasts, but they draw the line at SpongeBob saying "shut up"
Yeah, kinda wierd ngl. Lol
Second, yes I very much remember the constant downpour of licensed games based on popular cartoons.
Hey but thanks for watching the video it means a lot!!
dude your just admitting that you enjoy watching cartoons what's the big deal?
Even I can see how anime games can suck! which seems like anime games now are just the same! aka arena fighters that just play the same like the rest!
Which seeing with anime games before there were so much cool anime games that give such original ideas! but since now there are hardly any newer anime games.
That give newer ideas which it's sad at this point while! I also find it sad how one of my favorite anime series that I watch when I was a kid and that is called bleach
Finally gotten a newer video game! which was cool that bleach finally gotten a newer video game that isn't a mobile game but only to heard that it's just an arena fighter.
Like ON COME ON! WHY NOT MAKE SOMETHING NEW INSTEAD OF MAKING THE SAME THING SLAP WITH AN ANIME SERIES CALLED BLEACH ON IT THAT WOULD JUST
PLAY THE SAME LIKE THE OTHER GAMES!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Since old games nowadays are getting more rare and expensive to get nowadays which game emulators can be a good thing for you to play those older games that never got to
Be on the modern platforms but it is a shame many of those game emulators sites get taken down by game companies aka nintendo since they will take it down for game privacy.
But yet they don't even bother to sell those games anymore? like why bother take a game emulator site down even when they ain't stealing money from you though when those
Games can't even be bought no more.. but damn it's just unfortunate to see that an anime series aka bleach finally gets a newer video that that is just an arena fighter though.
While bleach still has a cool video game that deserve to have been free from the ps3 but they still decide to let it be trap on the ps3 while make something so unoriginal as heck!
Which I can see how anime games suck seeing how they are all the same! every time we would get a newer anime game it's just going to be an arena fighter which it's just the same
Game over and over again which just as same as the lego games that are the same thing too which both can just suck as heck.
