Hey mate, thanks for the video, first video on UA-cam I've seen of a real test. I should have my car in a month so this is reassuring. Also good to see a local (I'm in Forde)!
Thanks for the kind words. That video was filmed only two days after receiving the car, can say my technique has improved even more since then and I really like the buttons much more than stalks now. Congratulations on the purchase, you will love it, the new Model 3 is a fantastic car.
I haven't any experience with this, but the fact that the car was initially pinged for not having child seat restaint points by the authorities and nothing was ever said about this means it's considered a valid way to indicate as far as they are concerned. If it was unsafe, the cars would not be on our roads.
Yeah, correct. The middle tether was an oversight and wasn't in line with the design approval but the indicators have already been passed by regulators all around the world (Model S and X refresh has had the buttons for some time)
As a BMW driver, I've never seen this feature, but after checking my owners manual apparently this function is integrated into the stalk which tells other drivers to get out of my way. Not quite sure of the point of the function, doesn't seem to help me at all.
Yeah, to be honest there isn't much difference between EAP and FSD here at the moment. If you are buying it for what is currently available my honest advice is not to buy it. I saw it as an investment as I believe we will get FSD supervised at least to the level that the US has within the next year or so and I believe that the price will go up at that point. That's purely my best guess and not financial advice though, so it's really up to each person if they want to take that risk or not.
When I test drove this, I had the mindset I was going to hate the indicator buttons on the steering wheel, but I had quite the opposite experience. Only after a few minutes of driving, I found I actually liked it, and you get some nice haptic feedback from the buttons. I also like that it switches off automatically after a lane change, which I wasn't expecting. @@Tesla-Red
Yes I've found most of those who go on most loudly proclaiming that they would be impossible to use on roundabouts etc have never taken one for a test drive. I also love how it cancels automatically changing lanes but is also smart enough to recognise a turning lane and keep it on when you change into one until you turn.
@@Tesla-Red awesome. I look forward to it. About to order a Model 3 in the next 4-6 weeks. Great channel, love the detailed explanations. Greetings from Brisbane.
@@Tesla-Red We are actually moving to Adelaide at the end of May. So was already really interested in the road trips from and to Adelaide (Barossa). I look forward to the Brisbane trip report. I think there are plenty of superchargers along the coast so curious to see how you may travel. Let me know if you come to Adelaide again. :-)
Yeah, I do the BNE trip quite regularly, it was my "test case" before I bought the Tesla. Hired one for my last trip and decided then and there I'd never do it in an ICE again. Was so much better.
Great video , really busts the stalks myths and to be honest on NSW a lot of roundabouts are being replaced by lights anyway. Also in NSW it is not 100% mandatory , but more courtesy than anything.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, even states that have the indicate on exit rule, there is the "Where practical" clause, which accepts the fact that it isn't practical with stalks in all circumstances and means that the rule really isn't enforceable. That said though, I always do indicate as a courtesy, but I never trust an indication, so many times I see drivers indicate left as you are waiting to enter but then they keep going round and if you'd trusted them you'd hit them.

Each to their own, drive by wire certainly would make it even better, but most Highland owners are saying that they found buttons better than stalks within a week or two.
really really unintuitive to have to 'track where the button is' if you might have your mind on a busy multilane chockers roundabout or are distracted in *any* way. hate this and if it comes to model y i'll never get a Tesla!
Just did a test drive, really easy to get used to, was good to watch this video first, thank you!
Glad it helped!
A great example on how to use these indicators. Thank you
Thanks for watching!

lol, well played Sir
I’d love to see more FSD (Australia) videos. I’m still not 100% convinced to spend those $10,100. Cheers.

@@Tesla-Red Fully concur with your statement.
Not an issue in Melbourne, don't think I've ever seen anyone indicate when leaving a roundabout.
Yeah the laws vary from state to state. Not sure if it's required in VIC or not but you are right, most don't bother.

Agree 👍

Thanks Ryan, really appreciate the comment, nowhere near the standard of yours but hopefully I'll get there one day!

Not impossible but I still prefer the stalks. Should have waited for drive by wire before deleting the stalks.
Each to their own, drive by wire certainly would make it even better, but most Highland owners are saying that they found buttons better than stalks within a week or two.
Now you need both hands to do something that previously needed only one hand
Not following your logic there. You should be using both hands on the wheel. You just need to use one thumb to activate the button.

Really takes zero effort, but each to their own
TeSla, not TeZla.
haha, can't say I won't keep pronouncing it like that, it's just how I and every one I know says it. I know you are techinically correct though.
