Incredible work as always, I hope I can someday get to your speed and efficiency, currently a single knife takes me an unholy amount of time, but I still make it work, sending well wishes from Ontario!
I love the blade shape, but gluing instead of making the end a little bit longer and hammer it down in handle makes it much less durable, especially in the cold climate, where glue cracks really fast. Nice video as always, i like shots of anvil ;)
What steel did you make these out of? I have a bunch of leaf springs in my basement but I thought about maybe turning them into swords but knives sound much more manageable
Leaf springs are generally 5160 or something similar, makes a serviceable knife and a good sword, but if youre thinking of selling them just buy some steel so you know what it is, and you dont get burned by a microfracture
They're made of 1084. Like choccymilk mentioned spring steel is usually 5160, it's decent and will take a nice edge but definitely more suited for larger blades as it tends to be a bit softer. For smaller knives something like 1084, 1095 and o1 are all very good carbon steels for smaller blades.
You should attempt a gladius blade if you have some spring steel. I used to have some myself and did a bunch of research, figured out any variant of a Roman gladius would be a good starting point for me. I wish i never slept on the project. Now i have no access to anything i could use to even get this spring red hot 🤣
Looking good there young man something you might put in your memory bank ,this was a hard and expensive lessen . Never us Fiebing's leather PRO dye on any sheath that is to come into contact with brass it will turn it green . Happy trails
I use it almost every day right now as it's very warm, and I'm always in a t-shirt. Mostly just for a quick measurement, nothing precise, but nice to have as it makes me pay a bit more attention the length and width of things, as I often tend to just work by eye. Also very useful for when reading stuff online that describes sizes. Quick look at it and I have a better sense of dimensions. Of course I could just use a measuring tape but it's not as fun ;)
When the high pitch, sped up striking starts - that's when the real video begins
I really don’t like the video to be sped up I would rather watch a several hour video
This ladies and gentlemen is what a real craftsman at work.
Thank you! appreciate it :)

I got a steal on the first batch. These look great, though!

@@MakeNCreate silver steel also makes a cracking knife and is easily available in round stock, alloy is 115CrV3, gets screaming hard in fast oil

I think it would be good to make a sharpening choil on the knifes ... more sharpening friendly for those which do not have a belt grinder ..;)
Nice
Thanks!
Very nice 👏

Noted! I don't worry too much about that stuff though. I like patinas and the natural way of things affecting each other. Thank you!
what's up with the lengthy sheath? Gotta use 2 fingies to nab that out
One of those on my belt would make me look bad ass!!!🤣!!!!
Sounds like you need to get you one then ;) Thanks mate!
@@MakeNCreate you know it!!
I’ll be picking one up soon💪🏼

How often do y'all think this guy measures things with his arm?
Probably alot
Ye said he uses it quite often actually.
@@erikcourtney1834 really? Thats pretty dope
James Brisendine yes sir. I asked the same question a year or so ago.

Mind if I ask what brand of butane torch that is? We have a couple but they don't look as well made as that one.
This one: www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07VPY1LMG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Works like a charm.
@@MakeNCreate Thank you!
What grit belt are you using on the knife sheath
I finish the edges with 220. I start with 36 grit though.
👌🏼👊🏻
I have a question, I noticed these knives do not have pins in the handle just epoxy? do you ever have any problems with the blades coming loose?
Never had any issues. Epoxy holds extremely well if everything is nice and clean beforehand.
@@MakeNCreate Thank you, These are some amazing knives!
What type of steel are the blades?
1084.
Do you worry about the 1084 sitting in a leather sheath rusting?
@@hawk5148 Nope. If the sheath is nice and dry it won't rust. After wet molding I let them dry a day or two before they go in the sheath.
