Yeah…I’m a pretty new BLM player, I fell in love with it at the end of Shadowbringers and finished all of Endwalker with it. I love how the rotation feels and I’ve never felt so good playing a class and successfully dodge an attack (god bless slidecast) and I’d love to keep playing BLM even later on (savage and such) but everyone keeps telling me I shouldn’t do that, it’s just not really viable currently - fights are to difficult, your party needs to work around you and the fact that you are a BLM too much etc. Now I’m extremely conflicted because I’m a huge people pleaser and I don’t know if I should play the class that I play and be potentially useless or should I keep leveling other classes (currently sage and dragoon)…

    • @NakedRadish
      @NakedRadish 2 роки тому +17

@@nanamioyu6056 BLM is very much a viable job for savage content, only thing it needs is for you to take a couple more runs to find out where excactly you can get away with what. The fights are designed in a way that every job can handle them and BLM is one of the strongest dps if you can play it well. There is a lot of movement which makes people think that it's bad for BLM, but if anyone actually looks at BLM's toolkit there's plenty of options to allow movement, you just need to utilize them right. I have cleared the current tier to the end of the last one on BLM as well as done the new extreme trial that people say is a nightmare to BLM. Do not let other people tell you what job you should or shouldn't play.

I just want to do a quick comment for anyone who might love dancer mobility and say that if you like a lot of mobility specifically, you might like ninja a lot. At level 90 you get two charges of a targeted teleport on a 60 second CD, but every raiton you do adds another charge, and you do 7 raitons every two minutes, so if you used every charge that's 11 teleports. Btw, did I mention that every raiton you can also use as a targeted enemy dash immediately after? Which means you can potentially have 18 dashes every two minutes? And you have a couple decent ranged up time options. It can be a complicated job and has some very busy burst windows, but if you really like mobility, try ninja.

As for favorites, I haven't played all the tanks and healers yet, but my favorite DPS are Samurai, Red Mage, and Dancer. So far I think Astro is my favorite healer and Paladin my favorite tank but They're only about lvl 50 so I still have a lot to learn.

  • @Castersvarog
    @Castersvarog 2 роки тому +35

    Personally from what I’ve leveled:
Tanks: Paladin, I’m a sucker for the sword and shield combo, I really am. I just find it really fun, especially with the Endwalker additions.
Healer: Don’t have a particular favourite. But if I had to choose 1, it would be White mage. Holy is just, so good. The free stun is honestly amazing, and the Lillies are always helpful especially with the buff to the Blood Lily.
Melee Dps: Dragoon, no questions asked. I love this job a lot, I love the aesthetic, the glam and the rotation is such fun. If I didn’t main my main Dragoon would be my main.
I am wondering what the 6.2 changes are gonna be, and I hope it’s more of a QOL type instead of a significant rework.
Ranged dps: It’s tough to say, but if I had to choose just one I would go with Bard. I do quite like the glamour options and I just think it’s neat.
Caster dps: It’s not even a contest, it’s Summoner, and by a lot. It’s the first job I picked when I started, it’s the job i went through the entire story with when I started at the tail end of ShB, and the first I got to 90. I’m especially liking the aesthetics Endwalker added, I love the rotation, it feels like a constant burst, and I always love the summoner archetype.
My only issue with the job is it’s a little to simplistic for its own good. Maybe add in more oGcds, or dots, I don’t know, just something to help spice things up.

      For me personally:
For a tank, its Warrior. I've always loved WAR, from when I started the game up until now.
Although, I don't just default to warrior because that's what I started as, I genuinely dislike DRK and PLD's rotations and DRK is currently the worst it's been for a long time for me, and especially experience-wise, you just spam TBN, it's the worst for dungeons and the least fun tank for most people currently. GNB is busy, and I like busy jobs, so it's a close second to WAR, but WAR's self-healing is amazing to use, and I love the style of the job.
For healers it's SCH. SCH is on the same level as BLM where you need to be a masochist to enjoy it. But its super satisfying to use the toolkit they have effectively, Deployment Tactics, Emergency Tactics, Recitation, Expedient and Protraction all feel amazing when you get great value out of them, and to get great value out of them you need to know a fight, so it pays off to replay content more as SCH than other jobs in a way. It feels more rewarding instead of healing by pure reaction like WHM. AST is a close second though, because like I said earlier I like busy jobs.
For Melee DPS: Ninja. I preferred old Monk (I know, criminal) so I'm in a bit of a weird spot right now. I enjoy reaper, but it does get boring for me. I understand the rotation for every class is the same. But for Reaper it feels especially repetitive for me. I enjoy Ninja as it's busy and from time to time you need to change your rotation slightly to adapt to the situation while managing mudra charges. So that would be my favourite right now.
For Caster DPS: BLM, nothing compares to playing BLM well in a fight, it means that your planning for mechanics paid off, and also that you were still able to completely manage your rotation while avoiding everything (usually). BLM feels as rewarding, if not more than SCH for me.
For Ranged DPS: (Probably) Machinist, very busy, and I like the burst-window style of it. I don't mind Dancer, but I've never enjoyed Bard. I haven't played them for little while, but I disliked the proc-chances, it felt super annoying that my DPS and rotation was decided on if those randomly procced or not.

I just can't decide between Paladin and Warrior. I played both to around 35 (yes, pretty low, lots of skills missing, but that doesn't matter here) and while
i'm normally a Pally-guy in MMOs, the Warrior has somehow the better feedback with his skills.
With the Paladin it feels like "whirling" around with the sword, and the Warrior is just BAAAMMM...so satisfying 😅
MSQ is at around 45, so i just wait for Dark Knight 😁

    • @scotch1148
      @scotch1148 2 роки тому +1

@@christianstachl I have to say, since making the original comment, my opinions on jobs have definitely changed a lot. I'm only going to talk about tanks though because my comments are always way too long.
Favorite tank now is definitely, by far, GNB. After replaying through all of Endwalker on an alt as GNB, and doing most raids, GNB comes out on top. Warrior is still the best for dungeons, but I find GNB more fun. It feels like it has way more mitigation options than the other tanks, (even though they don't really, maybe one or two, but they just have some really short cooldowns on skills) which makes dungeons super fun and not as boring as they are with WAR for me.
The job especially stands out in raids and trials though. The burst window is super satisfying to get right, getting all of your DoTs and cartridges used up before it ends is super exciting, tense almost, since the time window can get super strict. Managing your cooldowns/party-wide mitigation makes for decent filler between burst windows too. After raiding a bit on my main as Warrior I realised how repetitive it actually is.
I mean of course it is, but you're really spamming a 3 hit combo and fell cleave and that's essentially it. You get extra moves that proc when you use the upgraded version of berserk (Inner Release) but the burst window itself is pretty much the same from 70 onwards. The satisfying aspect of WAR's heals and large-number burst window wore off for me. And I still have the same problems with Pally and DRK.
Dark is pretty much the worst tank up until they get The Blackest Night, which is why you rarely see them in content below 70 or whenever they get TBN. And I don't really enjoy how much the rest of DRK's kit leans into it. Pally can get massive numbers, but they still don't do that much damage. Their rotation is also super unforgiving. As GNB if you miss something in the burst window you can still continue pretty well. It's much more difficult as a Pally. Pally's also have a lot of party protection, but GNB arguably has more since they have cooldowns with pretty short timers or multiple uses they can use on allies to protect/heal them.
Gunbreaker is just more of a continuous string of large strikes that your character is really leaning into, as much as they can. Like a series of THUNKS each followed by a BAM from the Gunblade itself actually going off and expending the cartridge. Sounds silly, but that's honestly the best way I can describe it to the "BAM" feeling of the single-hit power of WAR haha. The entire 9 second window of your Cartridge combo is suuuuper satisfying. I'd argue it feels better than WAR using their beast gauge with Berserk active. Once you get continuation you're quite literally doing 3-hit combo inside of another 3-hit combo.

I agree with White Mage- it feels like exactly what a healer should be. It's the perfect encapsulation of that role.
I have never played tank in this game, so I have no opinion on them
Dragoon is the only melee that feels like I can actually keep up with it, because it's so slow and rhythmic compared to the other melees, and the cyclical rotation is extremely satisfying to execute.
So far I haven't gotten Black Mage or Summoner to 90, so Red Mage wins by default for now, but if summoner ever gets a Shiva summon I will play no other job until that ability is removed.
And my ultimate main is Bard. I have archery brainrot because of Katniss Everdeen and Legolas, and I also absolutely adore music, and just like with Dragoon, the cyclical gameplay of the songs is just extremely satisfying. I also love Bard because of how much support you give your team; even if you yourself aren't doing very well, you're still probably contributing the most of anyone in your party because you can buff literally everyone the entire fight. Bard is my comfort class; I never feel useless when I play it, and that is what makes it my favorite job in the game.

I'd recommend trying tank as a person that originally hated it. But since 5.0 Shadowbringers launch, they revamped tanking entirely. Just having tank stance on dealling damage enough to keep aggro on enemies.
Prior, tanks had a dps combo and an aggro combo, also their tank stances reduced dmg dealt as well recieved, well not anymore of dmg deal debuff, its much easier to do so now and dmg reduction became a LV1 trait all tanks have.
If you wanna try, I'd suggest Warrior. My fav Dark Knight tho that one still kinda sucks I love it lol.

Reaper as well, Red Mage, Sage & Dancer. I used to be a Bard main but i expanded out after ShB

For me I would go with:
Gunbreaker (tank) : Visceral. Gnashing fang + continuation combo is really satisfying!
Astrologian (Healer) : The class I spent the most time on when I was a free trial player which was over 800 hours.
Dancer (Ranged) : DNC is the second reason why I switched from free trial to a sub player. Love the dancing and the mobility.
Reaper (Melee) : New class. Voidsent form. And you have a scythe!
Summoner (Caster) : Wasn't a big fan before. Endwalker changes made me try again and it was a blast to play with!

I don't mind having a more complicated rotation so long as it feels satisfying. I also like jobs with a certain aesthetic. So here's my favourites:
Tank - Gunbreaker... because as hella impractical as a sword that is also a gun would be IRL, that's some Rule of Cool going on there.
Healer - Sage... because... lasers. Also Discipline was my favourite spec of Priest back in WoW and this kind of plays like that.
Melee DPS - Samurai... the whole 'Wandering Ronin' vibe is something I really love and katanas are my favourite type of sword aesthetically.
Ranged DPS - Machinist... guns and droids... Much as I love fantasy, I like sci-fi a little bit more.
Caster DPS - Black Mage... Mage was my second favourite class to play in WoW, so I never struggled with standing still in order to pew pew.
    Honourable mentions, though:
    - Paladin... because my main in WoW was a Paladin and it was my first job in FFXIV too
    - Astrologian... Astrology isn't exactly my thing IRL with my secular mindset, but I love stars and constellations and they add something special to a fantasy setting's worldbuilding.
    - Bard... because you can LITERALLY PLAY MUSIC as a Bard.
    - Dragoon... Because historically speaking, spears and lances were the superior weapon on the battlefield... there is also Estinien to consider.
    - Red Mage... It's quite unique... I haven't played around with it much yet, but I fully intend to at some point. I also like their lore.

    For me:
Tank: I don’t know yet because I haven’t played enough of any tank to know which one I like or not. Tanking is not my to go role.
Melee: Samurai so far, I still need to play more of the other melee classes to give it a more fair chance, but I really REALLY love Samurai. The effects are so pretty with the cherry blossoms, ice, and moon. And it’s just feels so smooth and good to play.
Physical Ranged DPS: Dancer, hands down, no questions asked. Dancer is also my favorite class in the game and my main. As a dancer myself, I was INSTANTLY attached to this class. It’s so elegant and pretty. I love the mobility and it’s it feels good to play.
Magical DPS: Red Mage. Red Mage is the perfect balance of melee and magic and I LOVE it. It feels so good to play and I love flipping around. I will never forget when I was doing a trial rue, it was Bismarck, and when I was done with my melee rotation and jumped back, I jumped, fabulously of course, off of the edge 🤣 and the rest of the DPS were dragoons and they were mad I took their job 🤣🤣🤣
Healer: it’s a tie between Astro and Sage. Astro is SO pretty and I love the look of it. It’s so sparkly and shiny and it’s right up my alley. Sage is also fun and my main healer atm. I love the shields and barriers and the LASORS. It feels really good to play also.

    For me it's
Tank: Dark Knight. Gunbreaker was my favorite when i was playing through Shadowbringers and raiding, but both the Dark Knight and the Warrior (The job i started with) always were there, poking. So, when i decided to dry Dark Knight, the aesthetic, the lore, and the gameplay started hooking me more. And, now i love the Job in PvP, plunging someone and then starting to use your own health for skills, i like how aggresive you can be, and the crowd control with salted earth.
Healer: Astrologian. I like the versatility and more miscelaneous components to the class like the cards. Not much to say here, since im not too much of a healer player in XIV, but it is my favorite out of all of them.
Melee: Ninja. I love how fast it is, the glamour can be fantastic (there are some amazing knives out there) and i like how it breaks apart from other jobs with the ninjutsu system. (I also love Monk, but ninja is my fav melee)
Ranged: This is a tough one, but i'd say Machinist. The "Gun class" archetype always goes to extremes with me, either i love it or i find it extremely boring. Luckily, XIV's take on this archetype went to the first. The firearm glamour is fantastic, some armors look amazing, the use of diferent gadgets and weapons feels good.
Caster: Black Mage. Another tough one, i absolutely adore Red Mage's aesthetic, and i will probably go back and forth between these two. But i find the gameplay of black mage an interesting challenge, you need to pay atention to your own things, while paying atention to the fight to maximize your damage output. Black Mage always puts me to think when i can squeeze that extra spell, when i can stop to begin casting again, or how i could save a certain cooldown for a moment of the fight.

    In the order you covered:
Gunbreaker- came from DPS and I love the DPS like rotation
Astro- First healer I've leveled... Still working on the others
Dragoon- this was my first job it's nostalgic and I love the jump abilities... Also one of my favorites from classic FF games
Red Mage- another of my favorite classic FF jobs... And I have a tendency to play jack of all trades classes in RPGs
I actually don't have one for ranged... Yet still working on bringing one up Bard is tempting for the perform action, Machinist gives a nice amount of steampunk goodness, and dancer is so pretty

One of the big advantages to Summoner - and I know Zepla mentioned this in previous videos - is that the huge simplicity of the job allows you to focus on other things. There are no procs, buffs or debuffs that you would need to pay attention to, so you can basically automate the playstyle. This is great if you're either the raid leader or you're trying to learn a new [difficult] encounter and want to focus on the boss mechanics.
In exchange it almost requires you to have a second monitor, because once you learn the playstyle and you know the encounters, it becomes fairly boring and you need to watch some videos on the second monitor to keep you entertained.

I think I coincidentally followed your path (mostly). I started as Paladin through ARR, switched to Samurai at lvl 50 to go through HW, SB, and ShB. Then I leveled Summoner to 80 so I could main Summoner through EW. Now I've switched to Dancer and I love it, same reason because I can move around SO MUCH. I'm going to use Dancer to learn the mechanics of all the hard content, then I'll feel more confident to try it with other jobs.

Now, I'm forseeing a lot of free time for me in the future so I've been looking up what the jobs do now. you still have to be in melee range. Melee has low mobility because it is restricted to be in melee range of the boss, restricting the places it is able to be in most fights. A dancer can move at max melee, pre positioning for mechanics, etc..

    • @scotch1148
      @scotch1148 2 роки тому

@@zazethe6553 Not all the time though, NIN still has Mudra for range and they don't always need to pre-position because of their dashes. They also get dashes by using Mudra, so you can use your Mudra, e.g Raiton, when you can't be close to the boss, and then you can dash back immediately, multiple times, because NIN gets a stupid amount of dashes.
Even ranged DPS should usually be on at least the border of melee range, they really shouldn't be super far out anyway, since buffs and AoE heals will be given out near the tank and melee DPS. NIN takes the main downside of being a Melee class and pretty much ignores it compared to others, being stuck in melee range isn't really a problem at all for Ninja.

Tank - GNB: Pressing 578924 buttons and weaving mitigation make brain go happy. Also the sound effects are just so damn satisfying. It's my main job and I love it to bits 🥰
Healer - WHM: It's the only healer I've really leveled so far and for the most part I really enjoy it, and have been taking it into my roulettes more than other jobs lately. I think if lilies were oGCD I'd looooove it!
Melee - RPR: Just so damn smooth to play, and the aesthetic as a huge Bloodborne fan hits the spot perfectly.
    Caster - I haven't touched casters yet 😅
Ranged - DNC: I have to go with dancer as well! Bard was my starting job and first one I got to 90, but I dunno, I fell out of love with it with Endwalker. I still have a soft spot for it, but dancer's procs hit a similar spot like GNB does. It's busy and mobile and I can buff the party, it's great! Probably my second job in the game so far 😊

I've dipped into all the classes and got them to 90 and I'm in that period of changing my favourite classes constantly cause they're more fun than what I'm playing
Tank - As crazy as it sounds, I'm loving Dark Knight and ever since the Living Dead change, I've enjoyed it even more. It may not have Fell Cleave, but you get a buddy.
Healer - I've been changing like crazy. Started as Sage, loved it. Went to Scholar cause I wanted to get better, loved it more once I improved. Went to Astro cause it was a class I wanted to tidy up a little, ended up being really good from the off and now it's my go to.
Melee - REAPER. All I need to say
Ranged - Not been playing these as much but for me, Machinist just takes it for me mainly cause it is super easy to play. But I do enjoy Dancer a lot so it's a toss up between them
Caster - Gotta be Summoner. It's went from a decent class to an absolute powerhouse and it is so easy to play now

    Favorites so far:
NIN - Mobility and you have something to do; coming from faster MMOs like GW2 (Raiding), BDO and B&S, most classes feel „slow“ and „boring“ because I only need to press a button roughly every second vs. every 0.3s x‘); this class offers some respite, with all the Ninjutsu, TPs and a bit faster avg. Combo-Speed.
SCH - Just for the fact that I can click follow and go AFK with fairy out in Dungeons < Lv30 in daily roulette is great. Also, I get a book, shield and healing with a fluent combo? Not as rough as AST (though that is fun, too!), but quite competent; a good middle ground between aforementioned and WHM, which is just … too easy?
RDM, SMN, DNC: Each of those have something in common, and that is their rather straightforward combos; RDM probably the „most difficult“, but throughout very consistent and easy to learn - thus great to get into new Dungeons with. Additionally, all of them have the option to deal DMG while moving to some extend (Dual Cast on RDM gives 2.5s time to move, DNC can 24/7 move around; SMN same outside of Ruby-Ruin. Huge plus for SMN, that I can level it through SCH (aka. Skipping the Queue).
Last but not least, for Tank, I‘ve only tried GNB and PLD. I don‘t like Greatswords and the playstyle of DKN, but I still got to try Fell Cleave … once I got all my „main“ classes to 70 (the one‘s aforementioned), might try that (that is only 5 levels on DNC and GNB left); since I only got to Stormblood so far, still got a lot to do :D

I love MCH. A lot of it is because the class fantasy of "Gun" is very fun. I like my stupid cowboy glam and my rooty tooty point and shooty, but I think what I really like about it is its simplicity.
I feel like all the other classes I play have cooldowns and resources to manage, and then you have to coordinate using your abilities with the party for the group benefit. But MCH is really just "Hey do I have 50 heat? Are Drill/Air Anchor/Chain Saw over 8 seconds cooldown? Okay cool, I blast now, and "Oh reassemble, my big damage button, is off cooldown, okay I just use it immediately with my next Drill/Air Anchor/Chain Saw". There's no other button I have to optimize hitting. I never have a "Oh this damage buff is up, but I need to hold it for burst" moment, I just hit the buttons as soon as they come up except for when the next potion window is getting close, and that's been really conductive to learning.

I still haven't worked on my tanks much; the only one I've leveled considerably at all is gunbreaker, which is still lvl 80 for now. But I'm really glad I gave it a shot because it's been a lot of fun! Continuation feels AMAZING to do because it's basically a six-part combo, and is just so satisfying.
I started the game as a white mage, and I'm enjoying that well enough, but my favorite healer has been astrologian ever since they added it way back in HW. The aesthetic and animations are just so incredibly gorgeous, and I love the whole theme of using the stars and tarot.
My favorite caster is red mage, and this has also been my main since Stormblood. After I got burned out on white mage, I decided I needed to level a DPS and immediately went to summoner. I still love it and I'm so happy with the changes (even though there is a lot of room for improvement still), but red mage was one of two jobs I'd been hoping for ever since the game first started. (The other was dancer, and I got and love both my jobs!) Red mage just feels absolutely amazing and is ENDLESSLY satisfying for me. I love the idea of balancing white and black magic to keep each other in check, and then rushing in with you sword because you're not just a mage, you also have sword skills! The rotation is just so much fun to me. Black mage is something that I don't think I will ever get used to.
Obviously my favorite ranged is dancer, but it actually used to be bard until Endwalker! I played archer back in the beta and didn't get back around to it until during Shadowbringers, but I really loved it and was sad that I didn't like dancer as much as I was hoping I would. Dancer just felt too simple and dull, and it felt like something was missing for me. The subtle changes it went through for EW finally made it click into place for me, and pairing that with the changes for bard that I'm less than a fan of (the dots are completely pointless now since they no longer proc your songs! Now is the time for a bard bane!), dancer completely beats that out. I do absolutely LOVE machinist though, and I've always been a fan of it even back when we still had Gauss Barrel. I love all three ranged, but dancer wins it for me here.
I only just got reaper up to 80 so I don't think it's had time to grow on me too much yet, but I'm still enjoying it well enough. It feels like a better version of dragoon to me, which is a job I've got kinda mixed feelings about. My favorite melee is actually monk, which is strange because I like NEVER see anyone else playing monk lol. The endless rotation has always been a lot of fun for me, and it feels so fast-paced so I never have a chance to get bored with it. And then with the addition of the beast chakra, I'm just in love with it. Once again, just such a satisfying job to play. They've still got to do something about Anatman and Six-Sided Star, though.

That's actually pretty crazy how you matched my favourites almost point for point.
My main is WHM. I started out as a Conjurer back in 1.0, and I'm sticking with WHM all the way as my number 1.
    Fave tank is PLD.
    Fave melee DPS is RPR.
    Fave magical DPS is SMN.
    Fave ranged DPS is BRD.
As much as I love DNC (I have all jobs capped at 90), my only lament is that for a ranged DPS, it's main AoE melee range only. This means rushing into a crowd, whirling like a dervish. It's great fun, but I trip over AoE's all too often in doing so. Much nicer to pepper them with arrows from a safe distance.

Healer - White Mage (I started FFXIV as an accidental White Mage now whenever new MSQ happens I play through it as WHM first.
Melee - Ninja (I picked NIN up after I had gotten Healers, Physical ranged and Magical ranged DPS jobs to 80 in ShB but now in Endwalker NIN has become the main job I play and it's been my favorite since pre-level 50 NIN) Side note, Monk is my second fave melee job.
Caster - Summoner (pre-Endwalker my favorite caster was RDM but I really like how much damage SMN does right now and it's super easy damage to put out. BLM is tough but man when I play it I love seeing the HP bars disappear!!!)
Physical Ranged - Machinist (Reassemble + Drill/Air Anchor/Chain Saw is my favorite combo to do in the game. I love seeing that big number pop up and that huge chunk of HP just disappear.)

As someone who usually plays tank, I'd like to point out the great ways in which FF14 utilizes the job's mechanics to incentivize you to actually behave according to your class fantasy.
    - The Paladin always looks for opportinities to support his companions and shield them from danger.
    - The Warrior takes forever to build up anger, after which you just *have* to release it on anything all at once like a mad raging barbarian.
    - The Dark Knight gladly jumps into harms way, using blackest night, just to hurt his enemies even more.
    - And the Gunbreaker is always watching his ammunition and always frantically reloading to make things go boom.

My first 90 and my main job is Paladin (got 90 2 days ago, I only started in February). My second tank jon is Warriot (lvl 80).
My healer is a white mage (level 70).
My caster job is a summoner (lvl 72) and my melee is a reaper (level 76)... girl... get out of my head 😅👏
Happy to see all my job choices so far in a single video.

WHM was my first role and is also my favorite healer!
I love the number of healing/recovery options. When my dumb butt gets killed and rezzed, I love the number of free healing buttons. Also, between Fluid Aura and Presence of Mind, it's very easy to recover mp or to instantly begin healing/rezzing after I've just been rezzed myself.
Though that all said, my other healers need levelling, so maybe my fave will change with time 🙂

I am currently going with the following:
    Gunbreaker
    Scholar
    Monk
    Bard
    Black Mage(Main)
I like Jobs which have an actual Skill curve in their Gameplay. The Point at which you feel that you got good at the Job instead of just moving left and right, dodging or performing Mechanics.

    for me my list is
Tank: torn between Gunbreaker and Dark Knight (GNB cause its pretty fun DRK cause it was the job that got me into tanking)
Healer: Astro (Its pretty fun and spell effects are so pretty)
Melee: Dragoon with Reaper close behind (always loved Dragoons in FF games and Reaper cause it so cool looking)
    Pranged: Dancer (its so pretty)
Caster: Summoner and Red Mage (love the aesthetics for both of them)

Guess I can reveal my favorites (and maybe some others too):
Tank: Paladin. It's my main and I love it. Why I main a tank? Well, years ago played SWTOR for about 2 years. My main was a Sith Assassin tank, and I absolutely loved it. So it was an easy decision. Also because my wife started playing the same time and she wanted to be a healer. As for Paladin, it has everything I'd expect from a tank and it's shiny looking. It's perhaps not the simplest tank to play, but it's not hardest imo. Love it, how it's Zepla's favorite tank too.
Healer: Astrologian. Certainly not the easiest healer to play, but I like it. I usually don't want things to be too easy. I don't play healer often, since my wife usually handles that, and she's good at it. The card playing with Astro is actually fun and its abilities look a lot cooler than other healers.
Melee: Dragoon. I've always liked dragoons in Final Fantasy. That's the only reason why I picked Dragoon as my main melee. Jumping around hitting enemies with spears never gets old in my book. Dragoon isn't the easiest melee class at any rate, but I like it how it practically forces you to be in constant motion. Theres' hardly any time for breaks if you want to keep your DPS going.
Ranged: Machinist. For a time I couldn't say if I liked Machinist or Bard more. But in the end, Machinist won. Putting enemies down with guns and tools is actually quite fun. It's somewhat unconventional.
Caster: Black Mage. In the older Final Fantasies I could hardly get anywhere without someone using black magic. That's why I chose to try Black Mage as my first caster. Learning black mage is hard, but once you get the hang of it in at least some fashion, it's fun, powerful and it really gives a blast. I still have trouble maneuvering it, but what does it matter, if you like it?

My favorite jobs for those roles are as follows (with mild explanation)
Tank: DRK (because I absolutely love the aesthetic)
Ranged: Dancer (Zep stated all of my reasons already)
Caster: Summoner (Easier job to do good dps with when I’m having an off day [absolutely no shade to actual Summoner mains who make big brain plays] or just want to farm)
Heal: White mage (BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD LILY)
Melee: Sam (because I’m hot weebo trash)

I started off as dragoon and got it to level 73. Swapped to DRK and been playing it since, maxed out sage and reaper as well as got machinist to 83 and I'm leveling WAR, but after trying out dancer I think it's my new fav job. It's so simple yet fun. No need for paying attention to multiple dots, self buffs as well as OGCD-s. It's just simple and fun.

Its PLD, WHM, DNC and RPR for me. Tank wise PLD is just the quintessential fantasy class. You cannot run away from the classic sword and shield and holy magic combo. A knight in shining armour will always be there.

So I think your list was... a list for sure! Most of those jobs I actually haven't tried yet! In your same role order my faves are: Gunbreaker, nothing yet, ninja cause I hate myself, red mage for sure, and lastly bard. I love big damage and pushing a lot of buttons. And bows. Having 1 arm irl I need to live vicariously though my bun XD

    Fave tank: Dark Knight
    Fave healer: Astrologian
Fave caster: Summoner (for better or worst)
    Fave melee: Monk
    Fave physical ranged: Bard
Fell in love with Monk and Summoner over time, was terrified of the jobs when I started playing this game all those years ago.
Dark Knight and Astro; really liked these two ever since their introduction in HW.
Hard as shit when first learning them back then. But glad I stuck with that process….a few xpacs later and feels good being able to comfortably tackle high end content w/ those 2 jobs. Other than just defaulting to the more popular/easier alternatives in the role.
Bard, mostly because this is what I started out in the game with back in the ARR beta/official re launch. Never forget how to really play it even if I don’t main it anymore.
Also like Machinist, but don’t list it as a fave cause don’t think I do that great of dmg with it like I should do.

Ranged phys- Bard I like the songs and the consistent buffing of my team.
Caster- summoner for the same reasons as you.

I've been a summoner main since i started playing at the end of Shadowbringers. I think i got to 78 before endwalker launch but i've stuck with summoner. I do kinda miss the DOT's and i agree that there is nothing to think about and it's the easiest job to play, however that's part of what makes me love it so much. Because of how simple and easy it is, i can focus on learning fights and mechanics with summoner so i can make callouts to my friends when we're playing and not mess up when i come back as a scholar, dark knight, or any other class

paladin and dark knight are my top two favorites (and tank is my favorite role) and i like them both for different reasons (feeling of rotation, glamour/style, and comfort as i played paladin the whole game), with samurai rn as my favorite melee dps, white mage my favorite healer (i Haven't messed with healers or casters much tho), machinist my favorite ranged (gun go boom), and red mage my favorite caster.
Honourable mentions go to reaper, gunbreaker, and warrior for being super fun
