My favorite Richie moment is his solo on Let It Rock. So aggressive and he really channels his inner EVH, if you know what I mean. On the lighter side, my #2 favorite by Richie is his solo on Silent Night off 7800 degrees Fahrenheit.
Dave from Y&T used the lick from you give love a bad name on their 87 album`s title cut contagious verses. Like most bands in the late 80`s, they were chasing Bon jovi train of music, hair and outfits.
Prayer.. keyboard intro... It's E add9 (or E sus2 it's the same chord). The bass note of the chord drops to C then up to D and then back to the E. After 2 passes of that phrase on keys, the bass comes in with the riff. The guitar joins (with mouth Wah) and then does the C to D to E power chords (no thirds) i did a JOVI tribute for years
Impress the ladies.... wait I've been married for 28 years. Little late. I did the impressing about 30 years ago. Anyway, awesome video Marty. Some good content. I'm a huge fan of blues sounding rock.
Wow what fun, Marty! Awesome stuff from you - as always! Makes me want to go grab my axe! This was such fun music. Still is, actually. And agree 100% - Richie could shred - but he was a blues player, and it was all based around that feel. Love it.
Thanks dude. They had some great production on this records as well. Man they invested a lot of time and effort into those songs and production. Richie had some excellent riffs an chops man.
Hey Marty! Thanks for these tabs man … when I get home soon I’m gonna break out my Kramer Jersey Star and run these kicks 🤘 as I said before, I was in a Crue band I guess about 13 years ago but it would have sweet to team up and do a show back then 🤘
Hey man! You're very welcome dude. There's a slight glitch in the prayer tab at the end but it makes sense. I wrote it down kinda late lol. It would have been fun to play!
Hey Marty really enjoyed this dude! Not a Bon Jovi fan as such but “Wanted….” has always been one of my all time favourite tunes….it just has everything and is always such a satisfying listen, it always hits the spot! The tone on Richie’s distorted chords is just killer and I bet everyone who loves the song wishes they were a rock star playing the electric guitar ha ha!! 😁😁 Great explanation of the intro dude, you really broke it down well and made it pretty simple….it actually sounds really good on electric as opposed to 12 string semi-acoustic! The best part for me is the solo though…..surely one of the greatest ever. Please could you break down the solo for us some time?? 🙏🏻🙏🏻 That would be awesome!! Cheers Marty!! 🤘🏼
Thanks for watching man! I should do a breakdown of the lead for sure. I gotta prioritize and get all this stuff in lol! So much to cover so little time. Haha. 😎🤟🏻
Ritchie actually plays it with 1st fret A string and 1st fret D string but I’ve always played it the way you do. Playing it true to form is really a tongue twister for your fingers
@davidtyler2012 the verse/main riff. Look at the One Wild Night tour when they played Giants Stadium (2001) I played it like you forever until I saw that
Thanks for watching man and for the support. It's one of my original tunes. I need to get a new recording of it... not too happy with my demo I did a couple years ago but plan on recording it for real soon. The intro is just the main riff of the song, then I turn it into Panama at the end with a Roth sample for fun (for the channel). 😁🎵🎵🎵🤟🏻
Please can you try to be a bit more inclusive? Female guitarists do exist, you know. I’m one of them. I love Richie Sambora, I didn’t dedicate hours and hours of my life to learning his techniques to ‘impress the ladies’, I did it to improve my playing and because I love the music.

Great Richie stuff man! He was very bluesy and soulful but could rip and keep up the best of em. And the songs were great, no denying it. 😎
Great lesson Marty. As always Thanks for sharing the love my brother 🙏
Fantastic lesson! Thank you! Always underrated Richie licks so much fun to play, cheers.
You're welcome man! So glad you liked the video. Keep rocking! 😎🤟🏻
Thanks Marty ! I'll try these on the octogenarian ladies that walk by my house every afternoon!

Also I was wondering - do you have any slight Chorus effect going? Awesome tone bro
I did put a touch of multi chorus on it yes! And delay and verb 😎
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker I always sprinkle some delay & verb on my cooking ;)

Dude we need to hang. I just built a Tele with buckers recently. Went with the Seymour Duncan Parallel Axis set.

@@Ranch5150SkinWalker Yes, and the Dave ending is brilliant. The intro riff is so catchy, that you can build something around it for sure:)
Tastey tele Man! Looks Rock Solid and choice of selector switch is rightous. I haven't seen an ugly guitar in your hands yet.
Dude thanks so much! I realized I need to play this one more often 😎
When you are playing the beginning licks of Living On A Prayer, all I can hear is Bebop A Lula
Haha! I hear it 😁
Marty are you speaking from experience 20 years ago? 🤣👍
Partially! They still love these songs!
Please tell me the exact parameters of the effects and amp settings you used to get that sound starting @ 0:25
