Eddie is the reason I became obsessed with guitar and began playing. I have always been afraid to try his stuff because there is so much magic that he adds to every song in between riffs, etc…thinking I would never do it justice. Your approach as a teacher is awesome…I recently purchased the Frankenstein replica that you are playing here and I am now motivated to learn as many riffs as possible. The guitar part can’t be heard, like a TON of Ed’s music, the commercial version doesn’t do it Justice. I listen to a lot of VH covers to actually hear what Ed is feeling. And it’s incredible! That's pretty cool man. I went to the Guinness world book of records at the half shell on Charles River back in 94 I think. Ben Orr was there playing the drums, I did get to meet him. and the guys that do dirty water love that dirty water. I forget the name of the band, everybody brought a guitar and it was the most guitars playing one song in 1 time for a Guinness world book record thing. I got a stand up cardboard silhouette of Ed and gave it to my daughter it's a shame but she lost it. Good times. There is a video on UA-cam I'm actually in a piece of it standing there watching on the corner of the stage right after meeting Ben.
I've had Some really good luck, I met Rodger Daltrey and John Entwistle i was only 13 at fresh pond in Cambridge Massachusetts. I saw Heart at the half shell on Charles River back in 77 don't remember the exact date but it was a free concert I met John Butcher, almost got into a after-party J.Giel. that's a story for another time. maybe a couple more but I can't think of it right now.
Thanks Marty I hope you're not going anywhere because there was a dude that was teaching Leonard Skynyrd guitar stuff from all of the guitarist from Lynyrd Skynyrd. the guy is a master at it and he left UA-cam to go teach golf,🙃 doesn't make sense to me, I think maybe someone approached him and paid him off to leave UA-cam. maybe Ronnie's wife?😂 anything's possible, he was a great teacher and I was learning all kinds of stuff from him not anymore. I found you you're a great teacher and I want to learn this stuff. And I can't believe that I am, being 63 years old and disabled i have old injuries to my forearm and hand and still do it. I cut a tendon in my right-hand when I was in my 20s and injured my left forarm really bad had surgery but it doesn't seem to be keeping me from playing guitar. I hope you're not going anywhere I can't afford to take lessons any other way.injurys are not affecting me, I'm not getting any issues from scarred tissue or any that s*** or nerves every thing it's fine I'm fine. And I'm learning an you're teaching me and it's great love you man God bless you keep them coming.😎 I think I might have told you ive been playing drums since I was 14 and those injuries don't affect my drumming either thank god
You're welcome! I use a fractal ax8 for UA-cam stuff. I record in stereo with pro tools. Friedman BE setting and Friedman IR's. I add delay and reverb in post just for more control. 😎🥂
Hey man! I run a stereo delay. Left side about 250-300 ms. Right side 500-600 ms. Just depends on my mood. I run it usually with about 25% feedback and 10-15% mix. Unless I really want it wet then I go about 20-25% mix.
Thanks Geoff! For UA-cam (and simplicity) I run a Fractal AX8 in stereo into Pro Tools. I have a Friedman BE patch I have tweaked just a little (eq and gain) and use 2 Friedman IR's I have loaded in the Fractal. It makes it sound huge when I run in stereo. I add the reverb and delay in pro tools just so I can mix it later (more or less) if I decide to change my mind once I'm done shooting the video.

I REALLY need to get pro tools...I have a bunch of Neural DSP amps that run through my monitors and sound glorious as well...otherwise for the time being I'm (stuck) running my HX FX through my SLO. (I know, woah is me)...I'm a big fan of F U C K and Balance tones.
@@GeoffSweet logic will work just as good and it's a better option I think. Take a look at that. Less expensive. I have a full version of pro tools 11 from a few years ago. I think now pro tools does subscription pricing. But logic is not. It's a great option anyways.
Very true. Plus Eddie's lead playing in the Hagar years became so slippery and chromatic. The bending and nuances. Eddie just makes it sound easy. His "voice" on guitar was truly unique.

Beginner question here. When you click on a pedal on does it override your amp settings? I know when it's off your sound comes from the settings on your amp. Basically does all the tone come from the pedal while engaged?
I always run high gain on my amp and just roll back on the volume to clean up. You can use a distortion pedal to do that but I find that an amp with a high gain setting sounds fuller when rolled back for a cleaner tone. I don't like overdrive pedals. I just like a warm and mid range high gain amp setting. (Brown sound as Eddie called it)
@@joebob344 if you have a clean amp a distortion pedal will do that yes. It will make the amp have distortion when on. Whatever setting the amp is on before you engage the distortion pedal will be there when you turn off the pedal. I just use the volume knob in my guitar to control all that since my amp has a high gain setting for distortion I like.
I would slightly change the view from Camara alittle upwards to see your fingers on the strings better. Just a suggestion from someone who probably doesn't understand yet the terminology of guitar talk.

These are great but I feel like my playing has hit a wall lately. Just started playing in December of last year.
I suggest to start playing leads and improvising over some jam tracks. Find some funk tracks in em or G Maj at about 90-110 beats per minute.
