3:10 technically this would make her more of a quartermaster than a co-captain, as it would be the quartermaster who actually managed the crew, especially whilst on the ship, with the quartermaster also being incharge of finances, so that's definitely nami's job.
plus to my knowledge, they could even overrule the captain's orders outside of battle, and nami definitely holds that power.

I really hope Oda expands on the thing where Nami was sick but still navigated storms like it was nothing and Vivi commented sonething along the lines of "damn this girl can really feel the weather, who is she?"

How would he draw Nami designs based off his wife when his wife was a cosplayer of Nami? That timeline doesn't add up... he had already designed Nami long before he met his wife, hence her being a Nami cosplayer.

Well, her origin story, as we know it, is perfect for something like that. All we know is that she was found by Bellemere in an island desolated by a recent battle and that Nojiko is not her biological sister either. So I am pretty sure Oda has something planned for her. Hopefully, it is not something like being the daughter of a Celestial Dragon, but SPOLERS:
Seeing how they apparently have the custom of having kids with their slaves and then casting them away and seeing Nami's natural obsession with riches and the good life....oh man, it would honestly make sense.

Iirc oda came out with an SBS quite recently (maybe after this video was written) that stated that zoro had the second greatest tolerance behind jinbe, with nami in third

As I've noticed like most anime enthusiasts, that Luffy is based off Sun Wukong (The Journey to The West). But this also implies to the rest of the Strawhats. In Nami's case, she has a staff like weapon and can summon clouds. This referres to the magic staff that Wukong had which was from the Sea Dragons, and the clouds are from how Wukong travels on a magic cloud. Or in Goku's case the Flying Nimbus.
Nami resembles Sun Wukong the most! There are much more things she have in common with Sun Wukong than that. She is like a mix of Sun Wukong and Aphrodite. Luffy is not Sun Wukong at all, he is kind of more simular to the monkey king of India, that have a real big appetite and also the sun plays a big role.
@@alvdansen7172 Luffy's design and personality ring bells, and his orign is more based off Hanuman, the Hindu Monkey faced god. Who was also the inspiration for Son Wukong.

Oykot is a very important name for a town. Dusk&Dawn explained, I think in his video about the Nami Princess Theory, that reversing Tokyo is a metaphor in Japan for a land of relaxed country life, an opposite of the high pressure life of Tokyo.

Also, 15:09 I don't know if Liam has since heard about this since he recorded that line for this video, but an SBS question answered who has the highest tolerance to alcohol, and it ranked Zoro above Nami, although Jimbei was number one. Oda does clarify that just because a character has a higher tolerance to alcohol that doesn't mean they enjoy it more, which he probably did to explain why Jimbei was ranked above Zoro (although I would think that it's Jimbei's size that would help explain his increased tolerance, though maybe not a lot of people know that?).
The problem with a battle axe is what Tvtropes calls the "Law of inverse utility and lethality". The more deadly a weapon is, the less likely anybody (especially named characters) will ever get hit by it. Zoro's swords are bad enough, but a giant battle axe like that would never be allowed to hit human characters because it strains suspension of disbelief too much for them not to get deeply cut with it. The clima-tact is a much better weapon, because since it delivers bloodless electric shocks, Nami is allowed to land attacks with it frequently, even on major named enemies.

It’s funny I saw a comment saying they’d be mad if Nami got a big reveal in the final saga, and another one saying they hope she gets a big reveal. She’s so obviously getting something huge in the final saga Oda has been alluding to the fact that Nami is special for 26 years now lol. The amount of times that characters have pointed out that Nami is “NOT NORMAL”, or that she has been compared to goddesses is actually crazy. I reread all of One Piece recently and this stuff was a lot more blatant to me than when I first experienced it. Also her backstory is super suspicious, and now that we know about all of these island whipping genocides leaving no survivors it’s even more suspicious.

@@anes-for-entertainment sry it took awhile before I saw this. I think she belongs to a sky race personally. More particularly Birka. Not all Birkans have wings as seen by Enel and the guy who trained Nami during the time skip (forget his name). Birka is tied to the ancient kingdom, Uranus, and Nika. Nami being Birkan royalty would make her a Goddess because that’s what sky people call royalty, and Oda has compared Nami to a Goddess A LOT. I like the idea that Sky people born without wings are seen as in a higher class, and it would actually explain why Enel had a god complex. Also if Nami’s weather predicting abilities are observation Haki like most people believe it lines up cause the Birkans we fight in Skypia are pretty damn naturally adept at colour of observation.

The entire idea of her being a typical fighter would be lame and her current version is way more unique and interesting, making her feel more like her own character.

Nami has been my favorite character since I began watching One Piece. I like her wit, the value she brings to the crew, and her fighting style. She uses brains and calculates her moves and is usually one step ahead of her opponent. I even told my wife that Nami is actually a more fitting co captain. She disagreed at first, but I later convinced her.
Not a Nami fact but a Bonney fact that I got reminded of because of the newest anime episode:
Bonney's crew is dead, probably killed by Blackbread because when she and Luffy fight the Kuma police on Egghead she cries
"He's the only family I have left!"
Implying her pirate family is gone.

#47 In the anime, Nami is show on two separate occasion drawing maps. It's in the filler episodes between islands so it's not cannon, but it should still be counted has Nami drawing a map. Also, both times, her maps get ruined by members of the crew and she has to redraw them.

The disappearance of Nami's scar confirms my head cannon the Luffy's fruit is affecting her and makes her super strong. Being a human human fruit it allows humans close to luffy to heal even scars.

first of all sanji can't not be 3rd despite bounties, i think him and jinbe are completely neck-and-neck equal in power and just as slightly below zoro as zoro is from luffy here
franky would be 4th imo, then it'd go robin, chopper, brook, and all 4 of them would be higher than they are here though still a good bit lower than sanji/jinbe, and much closer in power than this would imply (no chopper or brook being way lower)
then usopp should obviously be bottom since oda himself said he'd always be the weakest (until he achieves his dream and gains confidence anyway), but i'd like to have them high enough to at least cover up their own names, and not a huge step down from brook
obviously from a technical standpoint nami is probably between sanji/jinbe and franky in all honesty at this point though, but obv she's still only gonna USE that power in the most dire of situations
sanji is neck and neck with Zoro not Jimbe they both referred to as the wings of the pirate king, both beat a yonko commander with a bounty over 1.3 billion and they were both called the stars of the stage inside onigishima by marco
