Something worth bringing up about Sanji blocking Big Mom's attack and his "No hit women" rule is that he did something similar against Kalifa who was absolutely more up Sanji's alley. In fact, he not only blocked her attacks with his own but even pinned her down.
Now we need to see Sanji pin Big Mom down... On the other hand, no. No we don't. Nevermind. Forget I said anything. Pudding-chan, please remove this memory.

I was literally about to bring this up and, low and behold, here it is.
Sanji straight up trades kicks with Kalifa, purely defensively of course. So yeah. That happened!
Sanji definitely knows he can't harm big mom with just that. Not even Luffy in that arc would cause an injury to her.
I think Sanji's biast is more towards beautiful women
Should also point out that Sanji has a very supportive older brother dynamic with Usopp like Zoro does with Chopper.
Water 7 and Enies Lobby are a great example of that. Throughout the arc, Sanji is behind Usopp/Sogeking, and ideologically defended him when he fought with Luffy and left the crew. He went with Chopper to warn Usopp of the Aqua Leguna, and was practically cheering when Usopp sniped Spandam from the tower of law “yeah! what did I tell you?! That’s our Sniper, right there!” After having given Usopp the motivational speech he needed to find his self confidence in his own task
It's probably because he genuinely sees himself as usopp when he was a kid imo.
they both share self hate, they both feel weak and they are both emotionally driven characters. that's why sanji sees himself in usopp.
he finds his friend going through the same shit he's going through, and sanji being the kind hearted cook he is, can't let usopp deal with that alone.

The "continuity error" with Sanji having read the DF book and not knowing the weakness that alot of people call out, isn't neccesary an error. He read it as a child, not knowning if DFs really excisted, and what child remembers the bad things about cool things. Like many children will read books about dinosaurs, but how many will be able to tell you a single weakness of a dinosaur, beside the T-rex supposedly not being able to see creatures that stand still. I see Sanji not knowing the DF weakness in East Blue as nothing more than him not caring for that as a child and thus forgetting.
That makes a lot of sense. I hadn’t realized it’s literally just how children often retain info😄
Was going to mention something like that about the Encyclopedia. Sanji was reading it as escapism and entertainment, plus who's to say the book blatantly spelled out the weaknesses. It could've merely listed the fruits, descriptions, and cool pictures of demonstrations, with Sanji bringing up the info about becoming a hammer from Zeff (which he then learned during Baratie).

Cause I thought the contention was always the wording and how if Sanji never knew about the swimming curse in Baratie, how could he NOT have known about it if he had the encyclopedia.

Well hold on now. Sanji could of actually knew there weakness bc remember how fast he beat up the invisible lion. I think devil fruits just dont have the weakness to them all in the book. Some are maybe so strong the user of those fruit die from old age
@Leopard Tree We're talking being "hammers in the sea" weakness. Since in Baratie, Sanji didn't know that, Zeff told him, BUT people then questions how Sanji could have read an encyclopedia and NOT know that.
Fact no. 1 people should give Sanji a lot more credit for how great a character he is written 👏
Zoro is better though
He isn't a better character than Zoro. Zoro has subtle character archs while Sanji is so emotional he needed a full story arch centered on him. Zoro has simply did his own archs and worked them out with no outside help. He has also never betrayed the Strawhats in Canon.

It literally is destructive to the women in his life at times and nearly has gotten himself killed on several occasions. Even after wholecake Island, when Yamoto joined the boys in the bath... he nearly died while no other guy seemed that affected. Then, he is simping to Stussy. We know Stussy know how to wrap the average Jo around her fingers so she can do alot of damage to the man-child. Even with his powerups, they only fixed physical abilities. His worst character flaws still remain.

It's hilarious that Sanji's other brothers, Reiju and Judge relied on their RAID Suits while he trained his entire body to be this strong and formidable throughout his life as a Straw Hat Pirate member.

@@gabrielgoes0 I assume its in response to GLR stating Sanji's augmentations have always somewhat been in effect. Thing is, its a bit fuzzy. It seems like its a recent awakening, but its also hrd to say it was 100% never there at all since on one hnd, he's been super human (our standards) for basically the entire time we've known him. On the other hand, people like Zoro and Oden and Mihawk are prime examples of crazy super humanly strong humans with no fruits or genetic augmentations.

In my heart, I want to believe that Sanji got his hair not from his father, but from his mother, who was also blonde.
Its texture is a lot more like his mothers was. Judge's hair looks a lot more wild, but Sora's is more tamed and shapely, like Sanji's, so I sub to that theory.
It makes sense for it to be from his mother. He takes after so much from her. I also have my mother’s hair , so it’s more than possible for a man to take after mom

I agree, as Snaji's hair color matches his mother rather than his father, which could mean the drugs worked on Sanji made him human as his hair color matches his parents and his siblings that don't as the natural different colors because of the genetic engineering

Sanji is perhaps the most well-rounded Straw Hat Pirate out there. He can be serious and goofy, he can be smart and dumb, he can be flawed without being weak , and he's one of the strongest members of the crew. Sometimes I feel like non-Sanji-fans don't fully appreciate just how versatile the character can be.
because non sanji fans or zoro fans hate that sanji is a better character so only thing they got is gags not the actual empty and bland character zoro😂😂

Dupont literally means from the bridge indeed, but it’s a common surname which gives off immediately the vibe of vintage France. The brand wasn’t named that way to radiate this vibe though, it’s because the creator was actually named Simon Tissot Dupont.

My interpretation to the sanji reading df book and zeff explaining df weakness to him,
As a kid you wouldn't wanna read some boring disclaimer or extra stuff that are giving at the start or end of a book (where the weakness stuff wouldve been as its same for every df) and just exploring the amazing and bizzare power that one can get, also the fact that sanji is the "dreamer" just like luffy, and how one piece portrays them as not caring so much for the consequences. Plus it could totally be the fact that he just forgot about the weakness part lol.

I do too pretty much all the time except for when I say that I like both Sanji and Zoro in basically any sentence or statement because it ALWAYS results in people being absolute jackasses. As one of many examples, I just commented on joygirl's reaction to Zoro's big win in the anime that "Sanji and Zoro did great and I'm so proud of my boys, the wings of the pirate king" or something along those lines and MY GOD the backlash that ensued.
I want to live with the timeline where we have Ichdy, Nidy, Sandy, Yondy, and Reidu.

The funny thing is that even though Sanji won the death battle against Rock Lee, he still got screwed by the timing. The battle came out a few short months before he destroyed the raid suit, developed his new abilities and created Ifrit Jambe. If the battle had come out a bit later, the result would've been a lot cleaner.

What is your opinion on the current animation? I'm a huge Zoro Fan but I think they went over the top with the recent episode. The fighting was cool, they put a lot of effort into it, so credits to that. The problem is that was more like demon slayer than one piece. I miss the old school animation which gave one piece it's own charm. I read the chapter again and it was more entertaining than the anime. But I'm also in my 30's and I started one piece with the anime so it's probably nostalgia. 🤷🏻♂️

The problem with the anime now is that zoro fights don’t look like sword fights anymore it look way more like dragon ball with all the colors and lights it’s really stupid
In the anime there’s also a shot from Enies Lobby where you can see both of Sanji’s eyes. Right before they „jump“ onto Rocketman. Feels weird...

Unpopular opinion: Sanji was actually stronger than Zoro until he mastered Shishi Sonson in Alabasta.

We do literally see Sanji being demonstrably way stronger than Zoro in Arlong Park, to an extent that even Zoro looks at how much ass Sanji is kicking like "wtf is this guy". It's actually comical how much Sanji bullies that fishman once they're both on dry land again. There is also the weird question of whether Mr 2 Bon Clay is actually stronger than Mr 1, because he's the only one that doesn't have a partner. Sanji also did way better against Bon Clay than Zoro did against Mr 1 though. That's the weird thing about comparing Sanji to Zoro. Zoro's fights are always way closer than Sanji's, while Sanji tends to just steamroll his opponents, but there are a lot of implications that Zoro is fighting someone who's stronger than the guy Sanji fought.

I don't remember Zeff being a part of that arc, aside from flashbacks and mention from Sanji. Check your script.
There are 2 more games that I'm aware of that reference Sanji rule of not hitting women.
In the 3d fighter, Jump Force, all of Sanji's move get changed to him projecting hearts that deal no damage if he up against one of the very few female characters in the game.
In the rpg, One Piece Odyssey, if one of Sanji's moves were to hit a lady, the game cancels the command and prompt displays that "Sanji must never hit a woman!"
Another example of Sanji almost breaking his rule of not harming women comes at the end of Whiskey Peak, when he almost blasted Robin's head off with a gat... which would also break his rule of only using his legs to attack. Not that he would've been able to shoot to begin with.
Not sure if this happened in the manga, but it threw me for a loop when I saw the scene.

I love Sanji's lighter from St. Dupont, it's really pretty, and it has a pen that accompanies it. They even have a silver line that, while not as pretty, it's a little cheaper
Sanji also commits the cardinal sin of breaking his cigarette instead of putting it back in the pack.

I also think it's Sanji's smoking habit that makes him always get a pass from Robin and Nami.

Ngl Sanji is one of the more interesting characters let alone one of the more Interesting Strawhats. My head canon still says that before his official bounty poster reveal he sabotaged all attempts to get pictures of him taken due to high speeds or just jury rigging the camera before hand or just plain not being there or moving out the way. Do i say it was purposefully done. And when he finally got a accurate picture taken all Hell broke lose and he was identified as Vinsmoke.
As well as in pirate warriors, if Sanji tries to attack a female character, he just shoot love hearts from his body
