"Ode to the mets" is like a wine, getting better and better with every minute. I had the same reaction for the first 15 seconds. It's my fav song of the album, alongside "The adults are talking" and "Eternal summer". There aren't many artists that can convince me to listen to a whole album. The Strokes, Old Arctic Monkeys and Matt Maeson did it.

The American Viking I just listened to her album after watching Brads review and seeing your comment. It’s insanely good, never listened to Fiona Apple before this. The production is amazing, and I can’t say I’ve heard anything really as unique as the album in a long time. The only thing I will say is that there is this confident kind of bang on the wall, spit in your face kind of vibe with the album that I appreciate, but it doesn’t pull on the emotional heart strings like this new Strokes album did for me. But it was still a really great record.

Michael H. I'm not competely opposed to digital additions to rock/metal. Some tasteful samples can add a lot plus atmospheric synths and stuff, as long as people aren't copying and pasting other music and calling it "samples." But you're right, a lot of people can't just jump in head first into metal, some hard rock albums can be fairly universal tho and can serve as a gateway drug lol. I'm pretty sure metal is one of the fastest growing genres, so who knows, we might have a society of headbangers sometime soon. I guy can dream lol.

At the door is what got me hooked on The Strokes again and it was the song that broke my funk (feeling like I’d gotten bored of music) and then when I heard Brooklyn Bridge To Chorus, my jaw dropped. I felt like I experienced bliss listening to that song and I still experience it...honestly listening to the majority of this album.
From time to time, I keep coming back to this album. I mean, it takes me to a better place. A place where we can be happy, but also where we can appreciate being sad as a beautiful part of our humanity. It reconciles me with my own feelings time and time again when I feel conflicted, and I don't know if there is much else to ask to a music album.
Finally, someone who likes Eternal Summer as much as me. Best song on the album next to At the Door. At the Door also kinda reminds me of an early twenty one pilots song, at least the first half of it, for some reason.

3 years now and Eternal Summer is still phenomenal

Same with eternal summer man I have been looking for a song like that MY WHOLE LIFE
At the door is what got me hooked on The Strokes again and it was the song that broke my funk (feeling like I’d gotten bored of music) and then when I heard Brooklyn Bridge To Chorus, my jaw dropped. I felt like I experienced bliss listening to that song and I still experience it...honestly listening to the majority of this album.
From time to time, I keep coming back to this album. I mean, it takes me to a better place. A place where we can be happy, but also where we can appreciate being sad as a beautiful part of our humanity. It reconciles me with my own feelings time and time again when I feel conflicted, and I don't know if there is much else to ask to a music album.
Finally, someone who likes Eternal Summer as much as me. Best song on the album next to At the Door.
At the Door also kinda reminds me of an early twenty one pilots song, at least the first half of it, for some reason.
Definitely, both next level and mind blowing...the less they sound like their original sound, the better they get!
It kinda reminds me of Friend Please off of their self titled album

It’s interesting, I’ve not liked The Strokes more recent stuff and I didn’t like this album. But having watched Brad experience it again I’m thinking I need to give it a listen. Proof that you can listen to music and have it gradually grow on you
