This song was not only a love for the south it also gave a finger to the racists at the time in Birmingham. As well as Neil Young for calling all southern people racists. It was a very powerful hidden message from the band who stood against segregation and racists.
Lynyrd Skynyrd showed me the way. They helped me realize I could be against racism and hate and segregation (I never experienced segregation) and still be a proud southerner. They taught me they didn't have to be mutually exclusive.
Best southern rock song EVER recorded IMO. Lynyrd Skynyrd just embodied the heart and soul of the south and the music that it produced. They were all superb musicians, and even more importantly, they were so tight. Man , we all missed out on some awesome music after that airplane went down. Here’s a little hidden secret I don’t think too many people know about this song. If you listen very closely when Ronnie sings….”I heard Neil Young sing about her”, in your left speaker you will hear the producer, Al Cooper, sing the words “Southern Man” in a Neil Young like voice. I just found that out recently after listening to this song for over 40 years and never noticing!
You're right. But it's really faint, buried deep in the mix.
Gotta agree 100%. I mean no disrespect here, but, I also like the way Kid rock mixed it in with "all summer long". I'm a Michigan man, have been my whole life, never lived more than a 5 minute drive to Lake Michigan...brings back tons of memories, cheers!

These guys were just starting.....shame
Wow I didn't know that at all thanks for the fact
@@mikecaetano makes sense
One of Skynyrd's most underrated songs is "Coming Home". A smooth song that will make you want to go back home. Skynyrd is the GREATEST!
Coming Home is a great song
Another song that flies under the radar is “Am I Losin”. Ed King’s lead is awesome on it.
I love this song
Coming home has my absolute favorite guitar solo, and I'm a hard core Skynyrd fan, love every song, but Coming Home is just so smooth, yet with such amazing picking
@@larryponder6934 Agree.
Mr. Ed King counts "one, two, three" and starts this legendary song with his famous riff. Rock in peace! Cheers from Finland!
Yeah...old Europe sure knows about Lynyrd Skynyrd !...my favourite songs are "Call me the Breeze" (thanks to J.J.Cale) and "Wino". Cheers from Italy !
🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍👍👍👍
This is one of those rare songs that everyone has heard even if they don't they have, and it never fails to get a smile and feet tapping. Classic great music. Can't go wrong with Skynard.
Not only considered the top southern rock song of ALL TIME.. but one of the most played songs in history . . This will make every top 20 hits album forever ..
And the crowd at the Bama football game goes crazy when they play this. There are parts in the song...right after 'Sweet home Alabama' that you respond with 'Roll Tide Roll'.
“ROLL TIDE ROLL” 🐘❤️🐘❤️
I do it every time
Its a must rtr
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!
@@wendycalla4325 Rammer Jammer, forever.
Skynyrd was from Florida. They recorded for the first time in Muscle Shoals with "The Swampers". There are wonderful documentaries on The Swampers, they were amazing musicians who recorded an amazing amount of artists. Basically what happened was that after recording Skynyrd, the band tried shopping their demos to record companies. The tapes sounded terrible and Ronnie Van Zant was convinced the Swampers sabotaged their recordings. It turned out that the tape somehow got twisted so the wrong side was playing. Ronnie felt terrible about thinking Jimmie Johnson "sabotaged" their tape so he wrote this song.
I suggest everyone watch the docu "Muscle Shoals." What they did up there (northern Alabama) was beyond amazing.
Excellent commentary.👍🏻
Oh wow I didn't know that
Jacksonville right?
@@edwardmunoz7853 yep
The boys from Jacksonville, Florida singing about Alabama. And a dig at Neil Young! Gotta love it!
Duval County put out some exceptional musical talent.
Others who were from Jacksonville include
Allman Brothers,
Molly Hatchet,
Blackfoot &
.38 Special.
Cheers to you and Scotland, my fellow Rock-n-Roller.
🇺🇸🏴
It wasn't a dig at Neil Young. They were friends and fans of one another. This was a response to Neil Young's "Southern Man". They both said both songs were in good fun.
Young is a spoilt brat
Gov. Wallace, at the time made the statement that Skynyrd believed in segregation, or did not believe in desegregation, they were for all
People and all races and took a shot at Wallace in this song as they did Neil Young
The Governor he references is George Wallace of Alabama. The Skynyrd boys were often confused for racists when in fact this song and the line about The Governor bears the truth of the matter. "In Birmingham they love the governor (Boo-Boo-Boo)
Now we all did what we could do"
This song was written in direct response to a song by Neil Young called ‘Southern Man’ which you should experience for the context.✌🏻
@@liveandletdie7187 Live and let it die pal.
@@liveandletdie7187 Nope. Even the final line is a nod to Rosa Parks in Montgomery...sigh...
@@liveandletdie7187 Actually, I know the entire backstory of both songs. This is really Lynyrd Skynyrd saying, hey not all southerners are racist.
This is in direct response to southern man as well as the song Alabama by Neil Young. Not just Southern Man.
You, sir, are correct.✌🏻
I love how they dedicated a whole verse to Neil Young. They didn’t like Neil’s “Southern Man” very much lol
Actually I think Ronnie and Neil were friends. I heard somewhere that Neil thought the lyric was pretty clever…
They started the Southern Rock genre w/probably some help from the Eagles & Linda Ronstadt in the 70's/80's. There were a ton of great bands in that music type - Allman Brothers, Molly Hatchet, Marshall Tucker, Blackfoot, .38 Special & so on.
Allman Brothers started the genre but Skynyrd perfected it
@@jamestate5059 CCR and Allman Bros predated Skynard but thhey are the prototype
Wrong. The original Allman Brothers Band were THE Southern Rock band.
Skynyrd and the rest were imitators, and I'd consider .38 Special as the second best behind ABB.
Linda Ronstadt and a few skinny kids came to Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in 1971 along with an unknown BoB.seger. Maybe they were lured there because the Rolling Stones had slipped into the US and chose to come to tiny Sheffield Alabama instead of New York or california. Whatever, they all did ok I guess😁 the skinny kids would later become known as the Eagles. Funny things like that were always happening in Alabama. You really should watch the incredible movie, MUSCLE SHOALS. IZF YOU Haven't seen it, stop punishing yourself and watch it on UA-cam or Spectacular Blu ray. It's well worth it! Staring Mick and Keith, Aretha Franklin. BONO, STEVE winwood and many more!
That opening guitar riff from opposing leads starts it off . . . by the time the driving bass hits, the dance floor is packed and rockin'
One of the great rock anthems for a generation.
The song is about Alabama AND . . .
(Nixon wasn't impeached - he resigned before they could impeach him.)
I believe he was impeached by the House. He resigned before he could be convicted by the Senate.
@@julieanderson6463 Yeah - my memory of the time was a bit hazy ---- what I remembered was no formal vote to impeach. Checked back -- 3 Articles of impeachment were presented to the House but were never voted because he resigned.
You are correct that Article were presented.
Van Zant was saying that not everyone from the south was racist, and had no reason to have a guilty conscience, hence the line: Watergate does not bother me, does your conscience bother you?
The Swampers were a group of session musicians in Muscle Shoals. They are credited for launching many careers. There is a PBS special on them. Very interesting bit of rock history.
Netflix had a very in depth one a few years ago. Not sure if it still is.
The perfect Southern Rock song. Lynryd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker Band, ZZ Top, Almann Brothers, Molly Hatchet, all genius and true Southern Rock.
I wouldn't really call ZZ Top southern rock js
@@edwardmunoz7853 many of us from Texas like to distance ourselves from that “southern” thing. But ZZ Top will be near the top of just about any southern rock band list you can find. Blues were born in the south.
The reason Ronnie Van Zant put the line "in Birmingham they love the governor....Boo,boo,boo".Is because George Wallace was the governor of Alabama at the time(He famously stood in the schoolhouse door at the University of Alabama to prevent integration)and it was Van Zant's way of saying they weren't racist and didn't agree with Wallace.
“Call Me the Breeze”, is one of their best.
Sweet home Alabama came out in 1973, I know because im the biggest 70s Brat Ever lol
Its on my top ten list on my play list. Badass band.✌️🔥🎸
The Marshall Tucker Band is a very good southern rock band also, Can't You See, Fire on The Mountain, Fly Eagle Fly to name a few
Agree! Love their music!
You need to listen to their freebies medley. Its amazing
Oh yeah! Marshall Tucker Band is a must.
Thank you kindly for the Lynyrd Skynyrd reaction. They are imo the kings of Southern Rock.
Peace Out 😊✌
Why dd pres Nixon get impeached , Wile Biden gets a free ride on what ever he does ,, Its total BS
I always loved 😍 the ladies doing background vocals in this song.
Neil Young had a song called Southern Man where he painted the south as racist more or less . Skynyrd replies to him in the song with wording of a Southern Man dont need you around anyhow . Then the Governor reference is Governor George Wallace of Alabama who stood in a School house door in Birmingham to stop segregation .You will hear the lyrics say in Birmingham they love the Governor Boo-Boo-Boo .Then says we all did what we could do . Then throws watergate at the north as saying if everyone in the south is racist everyone in the north is ok with abuse of power stating does your conscious bother you about it?
Basically you cant lump all Southerners together as racist .
The song has deep meaning it sounds fun and upbeat but it cuts deep to the fact that people outside of the South view/ed the south as racist .Skynyrd wasnt even from Alabama but did record there for awhile and knew the area. And knew people were the same all over the south and up north worldwide even . Just people trying to survive and cant be lumped together as a whole from some bad choices other's make .At the end he says Montgomery's got the answer. Montgomery the capitol of Alabama . We dont have the answer to the problems but they do if they can see it.Again dont say the whole south is racist because of some others we can do only what we can do .
They just didnt appreciate the Stereotype the south was portrayed as.Cause they knew they didnt think like they were accused of.
Great analysis. But its the same today, the North has always thought of the southern states as second rate, racist and so forth. Don't stop them from moving down here though, sadly.
There views on race were more complicated than that though. While they weren’t for segregation they would absolutely hate what our country has turned into. Let’s just say they wouldn’t be BLM supporters.
@@mshat18 I doubt anyone regardless of region from back in the day would be BLM supporters. It's sad that any are today. But it's the state of the world we live.
A group of guys from Jacksonville, FL singing about Alabama; that works. You really should react to "Southern Man" and "Alabama" by Neil Young, especially "Southern Man." There was never a real feud between Skynyrd and Young, but boy, some great music!
Great reaction guys! "Call Me The Breeze" has amazing piano by Billy Powell! You should check that one out.
Yes most definitely!
Billy was a Roadie for the band. Then one day in Muscle Shoals (Sheffield actually) Alabama one of the Swampers, Jimmy Johnson, overheard the Roadie playing concert piano! No one knew he could do that. After recovering from the shock, he was immediately welcomed into Lynyrd Skynyrd! The rest was history!
The governor George Wallace was a segregationist and the song was saying so. "in Birmingham they love the governor, boo, boo, boo! Now we all did what we could do!" The song is not racist, the opposite. FYI. Love y'all!
Its meaning is ambiguous at best. Not exactly a resounding denouncement of the times.
Yep. The final line is a hat's off to Rosa Parks in Montgomery, etc.
You guys are just fun to watch. I actually enjoy you two for YOU. Just fun to watch. 👍
Billy Powell was trained in classical music. He wrote the piano intro to the live Free Bird version
Another great video you guys! Lynyrd Skynyrd is the epitome of Southern rock! Asia you brought up the lines in the song about the Alabama governor and about Watergate. They are two different subjects. Alabama governor lines: In Birmingham they love the governor. Now we all did what we could do”. That’s a reference to the integration of Birmingham, Alabama public schools in 1963 and the governor at the time, George Wallace, who was opposed to it. Eventually the Federal government had to call in the National Guard to force it. I’m sure you’ve seen the famous photo of the black children walking in line between two lines of armed soldiers just to get to school. Then the song mentions Watergate and how it didn’t bother the writer. Watergate was a break in by people in Richard Nixon’s 1972 reelection committee of the Democratic national headquarters in Watergate Hotel. Nixon didn’t know about the crime when it happened. So he wasn’t directly involved, but when he found out he tried to cover it up. Compare that to what they get away with today. That’s why they end with asking you to examine your own conscience. What have you done in your life?
Yep, true
This song was written for the Southeast. The Skynyrd boys were from Northern Florida.
Every song on "Second Helping" is a Classic. From Sweet Home to Curtis Loew to Swamp Music. Call Me The Breeze is the capper to end an exhilarating Album.
Neil Young and Ronnie Van-Zant were actually friends and had planned on writing together before the plane crash that killed Van-Zant along with guitarist Steve Gaines, backup singer Cassie Gaines and road manager Dean Kilpatrick, who had grown up with the guys. But Van-Zant and Young were friends and for those who don't believe that, look at the shirt Van-Zant is wearing on their final album cover, its a Neil Young shirt as a statement and there is tons of older photos of Neil Young wearing a Florida whiskey Skynyrd shirt as well. The whole Sweet home Alabama thing was never as serious to them as fans made it out to be. lol
The Later version of Skynrd played at Farm Aid, which was organized by Neil Young, Willie Nelson among others.
They played this song, and Neil followed them. No hate.

i was watching a Lynard Skynard documentry with the actual band members giving their memories of their journy. And they said that Ronnie Van Zant ( lead singer ) didnt write any of his lyrics down to any of his songs. He just made them up in his head when he heard the beat of the music. They had a little shack out by a little river that they practiced in. They said that as they were in the middle of a jam session Ronnie walked down to the river and started fishing. He he walked back up to the shack he had the song already written in his head and just jumped in singing to the music they were jaming to.
Merry Clayton, Clydie King, Al Kooper backing vocals. Merry Clayton also sings the second part on The Rolling Stones "Gimme Shelter". If you listen closely when her voice cracks on that song you can hear Mick Jagger shout "woah" in the background.

Lynyrd Skynyrd was the first concert I ever went to when I was 14 yrs old in 1976. I love southern rock and they were one of the best.
Singing about the SOUTHLAND, I love that line. I'm from FLORIDA ya"ll
Skynyrd's One More from the Road was one of the first three albums I bought, about 40 years ago. This live album includes long, almost too long, versions of the songs. :-)
Rockabilly at its finest. Their music catalog is deep and inspiring. The best songs are the one you don't hear regularly. Mr Banker, The Balled of Curtis Lowe, All I Can Do Is Write About It, Coming Home, Made In The Shade, Swamp Music the list goes on and on.
The writer was making a contrast between the president's role in the Watergate scandel while saying that the governor of Alabama was true to the people of the state. Being born in the state of Alabama in 1957, you two would not believe how many times I have heard this song since it was a hit in the early 1970's!
"Call Me The Breeze " is my favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd song. 💯💣💥
Those Jacksonville boys are the best. 🥰🎶🥰🎶
Let's see who remembers this: "Is that freedom rock?"
"Yeah Man."
"Well turn it up, man!"
George Wallace was the "Gov'nor." You guys should check out the documentary "20 Feet from Stardom" which features the Black singers who backed up Lynyrd Skynyrd on this classic song. Lot's of nuance here around one of the greatest rock songs in history.
Sending Love and Hugs from BAMA, to my FAVORITE couple!!!!!!!❤❤❤💜💜
I must confess. Most of the greatest r n roll songs came from the south, country legends as well. Their lyrics have no problem, givin u da business! Politics included! Yeah, the civil war was lost to them, from the ashes, musical legends r born.
George Wallace (8/25/19-9/13/98) was 45th governor of Alabama for 4 terms. A Democrat, he was a staunch segregationist and populist. Wallace ran for president as a Democrat 3 times, 1 time as an Independent, lost all 4. He opposed desegregation and supported Jim Crow during the Civil Rights Movement, declaring in his 1963 inaugural address that he stood for "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever". hence the lyric "in Birmingham they love the guv'nor, BOO, BOO, BOO!!!"
Thanks for the Information. I didn't know.
Great southern rock band from the 60's-80's. It is very sad what happened to this band in losing so many members. My favorite songs are "Simple Man", "Free Bird" & "Sweet Home Alabama". They had lots of great songs such as "Call Me The Breeze", "Tuesday's Gone", "That Smell", "The Ballad Of Curtis Loew", "What's Your Name", "Gimme Three Steps", "Saturday Night Special" etc.
This is a racist song from a racist band , listen to southern man by Neil young it will explain
@@terryhall7697 you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. In the song they talk against Gov Wallace of Ala and segregation
@@terryhall7697 I am familiar with Neil Young's music & his song Southern Man.
I saw them in 96 with Peter Frampton and 38 special in River Bend Cincinnati . They parted the waters of the Ohio River ! And saw them again in 2012 at Least Kentucky Expo Center in Pikeville Kentucky . And they blew the roof off of that place . Mr. Huey Thomason from the Mighty Guitar Army Of The Outlaws was playing with them in 96 and people I had the privilege of seeing Billy Powell and Leon Wilkison in 96 and so Thankful I did because Both of them along with Huey Thomason had passed away. I got a little nugget for some of the people that's not real familiar with all of the bands that's come out of Florida . Listen I don't know what the Hell they giving them people down there but I'm going to get me some of whatever it is because.... Skynyrd....Molly Hatchet.. Outlaws.... Black Foot and I could keep on going and going . This state has really produced more bands than any other state I know of anywhere. And I love everyone of these bands especially The Original Black Foot ! Damn Ricky Medlock is one of the Baddest Guitarists in the world . And the Outlaws was damn Beyond mindbogging with all of there guitarist. I was watching a reaction video of Green Grass and High Tides a while back and at the end of it the one of the guys reacting to it said I wasn't nothing but a hyped up song that really didn't show him anything 😂 Wrong words ! Damn if I didn't speak for the Whole Damn United States and he was American to and of course I told him his new home would end up right in the middle of Hell talking like that and I be damned if that didn't offend the Hell out of him and he sent me a pretty nasty comment back but he just lost his Ass in that battle because I just come unhinged and really said to much but F### these Jerks that's going to go slinging shade on The Outlaws ! Damn that's just about Treason where I come from so either way he got schooled from a Little Ole Kentucky Hillbilly and I never did hear anything else about the Outlaws or any other bands because I never watched another reaction on that channel .
Everyone always thinks Skynyrd was feuding w/ Neil Young, of course they weren't. But here's a cool little factoid for Skynyrd fans...if you listen close, I mean put your ear up to the left speaker right after Ronnie sings "Well I heard Mr. Young sing about her", you can hear producer Al Kooper (a noted singer himself) anyway Al sings, in what he calls a Neil Young imitation, "Souther man, better use your head." It's so quiet it's almost subliminal but it's there on the original recording on the Second Helping album. Al writes about 20 pages about discovering & producing Skynyrd in his great book, Backstage Passes & Backstabbing Bastards. He also writes about sneaking onto a Dylan recording session, debunks a few old rock n roll myths, talks about founding Blood Sweat & Tears...he's like the Forrest Gump of rock n roll. He was everywhere from the early 1960s on. It's the one book every rock n roll fan should read. Seriously. Check it out...
That Watergate reference was about the part no one remembers now. G Gordon Liddy and his crew broke in looking for evidence that prominent Democrats were running a brothel just a couple of blocks from the capital. All anyone remembers now is that Nixon had to resign.
You should also check out another southern band MOLLY HATCHET. A couple of songs are Flirtin’ With Disaster and Dreams I’ll Never See.
Believe Muscle Schultz is a recording studio in Alabama renown for recording many musicians, bands 60-70-80's. Creating some of the great music from the 70's someone knows more than I . hope they add to comment. Loved your reaction. Thank you
I remember when the plane crashed ! I was 13 I remember it came on the news I will never forget that! Years before when I was 12 I used to listen to Jim Croce and I heard the same thing on the news about a plane crash. If I leave here tomorrow will you still remember me,I Remember,!!!!!!
Produced by the legendary Rock icon Al Kooper (Blood Sweat and Tears, The Blues Project, Keyboardist for Bob Dylan when he went electric, Super Session, Gary Lewis and The Playboys and let us not forget "Who Wears Short Shorts") Kooper is the one that says "Turn it up" at the beginning of this Classic.
Ronnie Van Zant says turn it up! Kooper sings the phrase "Southren Man" in the background of the verse mentioning Neil Young. It's hard to pick up, but it's there. Ronnie said, "Turn it up," to the guys in the booth meaning the volume he was hearing, and they liked it and left it in the song.

This is one of my all time favorite songs. Love how Ronnie told Neil Young to shut up about the South. Wish more would have spoke up for us.

Muscle Shoals had the Swampers..they've been known to pick a song or two..
That is reference to Muscle Shoals studio..and the studio musicians..who played on many hits including early Aretha Franklin, Wilson Picket, Ottis Redding, and Rolling Stones flew from England to record there. Duanne Allman was part of the studio Musicians.before. the Allman brothers formed. Muscle Shoals was the Motown of the South in mid sixitie early 70s.
The Eagle's song Seven Bridges Road is another good song about Alabama.
'Watergate does not bother me, does your conscious bother you'. At the time government and its problems felt far away and shouldn't be of concern to the southerner, what should be of concern is your conscience (your own wellbeing).
Cry for the bad man , SEARCHING , GIMME BACK MY BULLETS . SOME GOOD ONES. The piano player was a roadie for the band they heard him play one day and he became a great part of the band .

Asia..the Governor of Alabama he’s talking about is George Wallace. Very controversial time in the 60’s. MLK assassinated then Nixon resigned over Watergate. Then Neil Young, a real arrogant piece of work. Great song!
The Band is actually from Jacksonville Florida. And a song to contradict Neil Youngs song throwing off on the Southern man. But in reality they were good friends . Neil Young went to Ronnie Van Zants Funeral. ✌️
Let your Soul Shine by the Allman brothers band! The Greatest Song!! Blue Sky another Great! Nothing against Skynyrd!
The lyric is “In Birmingham they love the the Governor, BOO BOO BOO…”
The lead singer Ronnie Van Zant had two brothers that were in bands. Ronnie was the oldest. Donnie Van Zant was in the Band called 38 special. He was one of the founders of 38 special. The youngest brother Jonny Van Zant became the lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987 when the band reformed. Both groups had some great songs.
Look up the connection between Neil Youngs Southern Man and the line in this song, "well I hope Neil Young will remember, a Southern man don't need him round anyhow"

Love this band. Have seen them in concert several times and always a great show. Neil Young made a song called Southern Man and that is what the band is referring to when they say A Southern Man don't need him around anyhow
On Neil Young’s album “ A Journey into the Past “ you’ll find the critical song “ Alabama” along with “ Southern Man “
Absolutely right Asia , this song is the face of Southern Rock.
So I know y’all reacted to freebies already a long time ago, but it’s absolutely worth it to check out the live performance!! Like every instrument gets their own solo and it’s much longer & just the energy from the crowd..👌🏼👌🏼🔥🔥 I’m telling youuu you’ll love it!! 🙏🏼❤️😁
My favorite song is -
That Smell! Awesome song!! The message in that song is loud and clear!!
Oddly enough, they play this song in the movie Sweet Home Alabama. Don't know who sings it but it's where I heard it first.
Fun Fact: Just into the piano solo, listen for Ronnie to comment about his doughnuts that the band is eating while he's recording his vocals in the studio.
2nd the encouragement to watch Muscle Shoals…, trust me, you will be glued to it!
George Wallace was a racist governor and in the song they said in Birmingham they love the governor, but we all did what we could do. All of their songs are soooo deep with meaning
George Wallace was a step away from being President before he did what he did.
I have a friend who always sings Sweet Home At My Grandma's.
Glad to hear you like the keys Asia. LS piano player is an interesting find. Billy Powell was a roadie for LS, setting up, moving equipment, but was a classically trained pianist-but didn't want anyone to know because he thought they would make fun of him, . One day the band went on break and Billy stayed behind and played "Free Bird" on the piano. Whhen the band returned and heard him play, they were amazed. It was immediately incorporated in the song and remains a memorable part of Free Bird, especially the beginning.
Being from California but loving this song about Alabama 🇺🇸
Hey y'all, Lynyrd Skynyrd named themselves after their highschool gym coach Lenard Skinner the Skinner family in Jacksonville Florida was a big dairy family anyways he did not like them cause at that time long hair was forbidden welp they named their band after them and the rest his southern rock history.. They all came from a part in Jacksonville Florida called Lakeshore in the late 70s they called it Shantytown and in the 80s we called it the Bottom and it lived up to both names.. Now in Sweet Home Alabama you hear Ronnie Van Zant give a shout out to the Swampers ( Muscle Shoals has the Swampers) the Swampers we're a house band at a recording studio who this house band back in the late 60s- 70s was in everybody's albums... Aretha Franklin went down to Alabama to record and she said she was blown away cause the Swampers we're all a bunch of white guys playing soul .... There is a documentary called MUSCLE SHOALS this was life changing for me as I am a huge fan of any genre of music... Jacksonville Kid by LYNYRD SKYNYRD is a really good one as Jacksonville Florida is where it all began for Lynyrd Skynyrd.... The Allman Brothers is a band you should look into as the Allman Brothers we're 1st and made a big push to help Lynyrd Skynyrd get where they got...
