To say we punish women for killing their babies is ignorant. For some stupid reason some stupid jackasses in the 60s got together and rulled that murder should be legalized. Lynyrd Skynyrd was one of the best rock bands of the 1970'a. Some great Southern Rock. Tragically some of the original band members were killed in a plane crash along with their manager and some other people. I remember when it happen. Sad day for Rock.

I had the pleasure of seeing them in concert here i Australia a few years ago and being a transplanted rebel from Alabama it was mind blowing to hear an arena full of Australians singing Sweet Home Alabama at the top of their lungs... just awsome...

Listen to Neil Young's "Southern Man" and read up on the segregationist Governor George Wallace of Alabama. There's lots of history in this song that someone today might not be aware of.
I caught what they were saying when they sang in Birmingham we loved the governor, now we all did what we could do. I was in my teens when I first heard it. They were talking about segregation. I have never really cared for this song for that reason. Just my opinion.
@@ruthacastelan8521 listen more carefully, what they say is "In Birmingham THEY love the governor", they hated segregation, there is a lot that is bashing the racism, but showing there is more to the south than that.
that line was over the fact not all agreed with the governor and they tried to vote him out, and then he wonders about the conscience of them for such hate, the poking at Neil and this was Ronnie trying to say not all whites was racist and he was mad over Neil basically saying they was

That's what this song is about, Alabama is a great place, despite it's troubled past.
