"Tuesday's Gone" is one of the best songs ever written. Metallica did a very decent cover, but it doesn't touch the original. Both versions are worth a listen, but Skynyrd's version (the album version) is never going to be topped by anyone.

I’m from Jacksonville Florida the home of Lynyrd Skynyrd. They were Simple Men. The Ronnie Vanzant memorial park is about 5 miles from my house. It has a fishing pond, kids playground, tennis courts and basketball courts. The rebel flag means the rest of the country thought poorly of the south and we were not going to be held down. We have a great love of family, we work hard, we’re independent And rely on ourselves, we’re good neighbors. Be proud you’re from the South.
Jacksonville, Florida native! This album cover picture was taken on Main Street in Jonesboro, Georgia. They do not have a single bad song!! Best Southern Rock group ever IMO.
Nothing beats the original! There's so much more Lynard Skynyrd to explore. Gimme 3 Steps, Call me the breeze, That Smell, Saturday night special and more.
As a lifelong Alaskan, I played this song while I was in hard labor with my son. The words resonated with me as a gift to my son’s spirit from my heart. He has grown to be a great man, lovely wife, beautiful children, honest, hard-working salt of the Earth.

This song hit me hard as a mother and one of my sons not doing right. It was basically my prayer that he'd wake up and do right. Unfortunately he died of a drug overdose 3 years ago. 😢
Born and raised in NY and lived in NC for 11 years. Southerners are proud people and the Rebel flag is not viewed as a negative symbol by most. It reflects a passion for living a simple easy going lifestyle. Work hard and play hard. Hunting, fishing, off-roading in the dirt, drinking at a BBQ, NASCAR!!! It’s not about race for most it’s about not getting caught up in the rat race like the northerners.
I was raised in Brockport NY and have lived in Lexington NC for almost 40 years. What part of NY u from? Let them know NY is a big state and a LOT of country! I worked and played on many farms growing up...
I’m happy I watched all the way through before I commented. I will say that my grandmother would teach me things when it was raining and we couldn’t work outside around the farm. Grandma was a great force multiplier to my grandfather. They both worked hard in their own ways. She would talk as we worked and she said this in her own words, to find what I liked to do and be good at it, learn it and protect it. Most of my friends went to summer camp, I when to grandma and grandpa‘s farm all summer. Thanks for sharing.
My only child, a son, played this for me before heading off for boot camp. He explained to me that this describes exactly what I told him again and again. He had just found the song. I had known it for decades. To be selfless, humble, kind, and love God is how I was raised. I just passed it down. It was so fulfilling to have my son recognize it in this song. Thank you for reacting to this.
Dude, you are experiencing time changing music with Lynyrd Skynyrd for anyone who was in the 70's for sure and they've changed people ever since. Their music is real and original. There is definitely tragedy associated with them but we are fortunate they left their music for us.

Never heard of shinedown or been on your channel before. Just surfing around for Skynyrd reactions. Been a fan since 73 and enjoy watching people react to Skynyrd for the first time (because I'm on my millionth time). Ronnie was a genius with his lyrics and how he allowed everyone in the band to shine. Best band ever! I enjoyed that you let the song speak to you. I've heard it 1,000 times and it still brings tears to my eyes. If I get on a rocket to Mars I'm bringing my Skynyrd collection and borrowing your speakers!
The day the music died, in my opinion. On October 20, 1977, a Convair CV-240 passenger aircraft ran out of fuel and crashed in a wooded area near Gillsburg, Mississippi, United States. Chartered by the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd from L & J Company of Addison, Texas, it was flying from Greenville, South Carolina, to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, crashing near its destination.[3][4] Lynyrd Skynyrd lead vocalist and founding member Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist and vocalist Steve Gaines, backing vocalist Cassie Gaines (Steve's older sister), assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, Captain Walter McCreary and First Officer William John Gray all died as a result of the crash, while twenty others survived.[5] The tragedy abruptly halted Lynyrd Skynyrd's career until Van Zant's brother Johnny reformed the band ten years later.
They crashed between Magnolia, and Gillsburg, Mississippi. There is a memorial near the crash site. It was done with all donations, it's really something to see. They were trying to get to the small airport in Fernwood, MS. They crashed 15 miles or so out. I'm from here, that's why I can get specific.
“Simple Man” was written by band members Ronnie Van Zant and Gary Rossington. Van Zant’s grandmother and Rossington’s mother passed away around the same time, so the two got together at Van Zant’s apartment to share memories of them. As they talked, the stories they passed back and forth suddenly began to form into a song.
Lynyrd Skynyrd's first LP came out in August 1973 and I was hooked on their music. The song Simple Man is one of my favorite and I have been listening to that song for over fifty years. Every time I listen it still brings tears to my eyes.
My son is 28 years old, I played this song for him when he was a child and always imparted this wisdom to him. This has always been his ringtone on my phone! I ALWAYS think of my son when I hear this and the life lessons that come with this song!!! Thanks for the reaction! Got to see Lynard Skynard about 20 years ago and even without Ronnie, they were PHENOMENAL!!! ❤❤❤
This goes on all the "Southern Rock" and "Classic Rock" playlists! The rebel flag just means we do what we want and we believe in freedom, independence, responsibility and taking care of each other. It means there's gonna be good music, tasty food, moonshine and cool people at the party that probably have black kids or grandkids and in reality are pretty cool with everybody...y'all it's 2024...it means we are OUTLAWS...not racists. Most of us...and we distance ourselves from the troublemakers.
I am hoping you wouldn't need that flag any longer..or perhaps design a new one, that flag is not a good symbol. I believe you are who you say you are and you don't need that flag... IMO
I'm a northern man from rural PA, but I sympathize with the true meaning behind the rebel flag as we in the "sticks and boonies" as they call it, have the same sentiment. In today's social clime where any decent and respectable culture is being suppressed and demonized, I have far more respect for those that still rock the rebel flag than those that demand they conform. Always found it strange that those that cry for diversity are also the same that won't be satisfied till all the crayons in the box are the same color. So much for live and let live.
@@morningstarart3480 its the same issue as the swatsika. Sure there are Buddhists that dont mean it in a hateful way. But if you see a guy with a Swastika tattoo they are probably bad news.
@@PillarOfWamuu I had just made that same statement but in a different way. Not everyone that flies that flag is in the Klan , however everyone in the Klan flies it.
I grew up in the 60s and 70s. The rebel flag for my generation had nothing to do with hate. I was part of the generation that was the first generation to attend integrated schools. The rebel flag for many of us was all about being proud of being a southerner. We were criticized and put down for being a part of something we were not a part of like the civil war and the hate groups of the times. We were called dumb, racist and the products of incest. I was in the deep south and in rural community. We had zero problems when integration came to our schools. None, nada, zip. We kids got along great. Played sports together and respected each other. There were bumps here and there. But minor ones at that. We figured out things one day at a time. And ultimately we figured out we were the same under the veneer of how God made us.
I also grew up in the South, but in the 70’s and 80’s. I had a slightly different experience. The racism was sometimes in your face and sometimes covert. I was surrounded by it. When I go back to my hometown now, it’s still there. Everywhere. And the people with those flags tend to be the worst ones. It’s amazing what people will say when they assume you think like them because you look like them.
I’m just always amused when people from other parts of the world tell us southerners what that flag means to us. I decided that people just like to bitch.
I'm 59 my Mom passed away when I was 14. My God how I've missed her. She was a simple woman raising her boys to be a simple men. Not ashamed to say tears come to my eyes still today whenever I hear this incredible song. God Bless
PURE SOUTHERN ROCK!!!!!!! Their "Sweet Home Alabama" is a MUST play in almost every country dance hall/honky tonk & biker bar in the South!!! RIP guys - we miss ya & still listen to ya!!!! The plane crash that killed all but one of this band was one of the ""day the music died" - Great music!!
This song makes me tear up when I hear it. Was very fortunate to see Lynyrd Skynyrd live in 1974 at Independence Hall in Baton Rouge, La. They were epic!!! Try "The Ballad of Curtis Loew." Great song!
I knew you would love this song. Hearing Ronnie Van Zant sing these lyrics is just one of the best things in music. A deep philosophy wrapped in the most accessible form. Life brings complicated challenges, but the most important things in life are very simple.
I was born in the late 60's. So I remember some 70's and 80's. For me we had the best music. I forget that not everyone lived those times with us. So I love watching your reactions to the music I love. Thank you for doing this.
Welcome to being a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan. Once you start the the path, you are going to like everything they put out. Since you like the lyrics, check out The Ballad of Curtis Loew by them. Anytime someone says Skynryd was racist for using the rebel flag, I ask them have heard this song. It is the story of how Ronny discovered his love for music and an homage to the guy who inspired him and it's another banger. PS when they say "dobro" it is a type of guitar.
Seeing them live in 1977 was the greatest thing i had ever been a part of . Being 67 this band has been with me for life and ill carry them to my grave . Once you go down this rabbit hole it changes you immensely so be amazed at this bands talent . One more thing Ronnie never wrote down a song on paper ever how many singers do you know who can do that .
You hit it out of the park!! The simple things in life are truly blessings from God. Your mother is delighted for the man you have become and always knew you are meant for great things. God bless you and yours. From East Texas

Hey Chelsea. My bestie here on BP’s channel you’re my Shinedown buddy. I think the recorded music video does no justice at all to how Brent smashes it now live and I love love how he always says. Do it for your daughters too. Just before iiiiiiiiiffff you caaaaaaan ❤❤❤
Sorry. I meant to say I was glad we have no seen original too. It’s funny cos when you think of aaaaalllll the shinedown songs and boy did we scream for it he chose , in my opinion totally the wrong song to start his Shinedown journey. And the ONLY cover they ever did. Plus all the Smith and Myers original stuff. To me if it’s not Brent singing live version it’s a pretty weak song of theirs. But yay the original is great 😊.xx
Thanks for going back to the original, Skynyrd's version is the best out there. Another beautiful ballad from them is "Tuesday's Gone", and a straight rocker start to finish is "Call Me The Breeze ".
My good buddy loved this band from day one. Simple man was his favorit song. He always said it was his life and we agreed it was. We played it on a loop with his favotes at his all too soon funeral. A good man taken to soon r i p
TIMELESS! I luv all music. But this one of my top 5 from the 70s and the lyrics are soul touching. I printed the words and put the song on a disc and gave them to my son!
They were a great band and the crash took them away from us way too early. Be careful with "never a bad song, or rather a "filler" cut ya know? All bands have a "eh" tune, lol
@@gregorylensegrav208 There is no "right or wrong" here man. Music is not a sport and nobody is keeping score. Music is made and written to bring the listener feel something. Anything such as anger, loss, pain, euphoria, dance, love, laugh and every emotion a person has. If you say that Skynyrd has made you love every single song then you are a lucky man. I have been a musician for over 40 yrs (mostly guitar) and I have yet to find any band that wrote only great songs and no "so, so" tracks. Actuially that would make them a bit boring after a while. Remember this too son, as you age you begin to appreciate some stuff you would have never touch in your 20`s. You are young. Your hardline stance on LS is admirable, yet stubborn as all hell. I had bands that could "do no wrong" and blast every other bands doors out. This will happen to you as well.
This song was written by lead vocalist Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Gary Rossington. The song came from conversations the two had about their mothers. They discussed the advice and wisdom their mothers had imparted to them, which they felt was valuable and worth sharing through their music.
I'm from the UK and I have to say that my own flag, the flag of St. George, is viewed by haters as a symbol of hatred, so I can well understand the pride the south has for the rebel flag and long may it continue
My grandpa was from Appalachia and every time I hear this song I cry, it just reminds me of the WAY that he was and the advice he would give me. Life is complicated enough, don’t go looking to over complicate it.
I drummed up enough courage to listen to your reaction. I played this at my first husband's funeral. There wasn't a dry eye to be found. Such a special track!
I grew up with Skynyrd playing in the house. My dad had this goofy ass little shuffle dance he'd always do to 'Gimme Three Steps' that I still smile over the thought of when the song plays. This song always reminds me of how my Mom raised me. She never pushed me into any certain direction and was content just to see me satisfied doing something I enjoyed. Everyone has their favorite picks for you to react to, so I won't toss another on the pile. It's your journey and I just enjoy getting to tag along and watch you take it.
I've been checking out some of your reaction videos to some of the music I grew up on. Charley Daniels & Copper Head row. I have to tell you this song saved my life. Picture a young teenaged kid so depressed because of an alcoholic mother & a neglectful father, contemplating the end of his life when this song comes on the FM Radio. I am now 64 years old, husband, father, & grand father, Lynyrd Skynyrd Simple man has been a guide in my life and a goal for true happiness. The simple concept expressed in the words are a basis for everyday living. I have also made put it in my will that Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd be played at my funeral.
Always remember there is a reason why a specific song is covered. The original deserves a listen just because it was covered. Lynyrd Skynyrd was my mom & dad’s favorite band and I grew up on their music. I remember seeing my dad crying when the plane went down and he wasn’t a cryer. The whole family saw them live when I was 12 and my sister 8. The smell of weed everywhere and us two kids front and center with people gawking at us because we knew every word to every song. One of the best memories of my childhood.
I’m 70. I’ve been to the concerts. They are from the south. The story and history is fabulous. Dig deep. It’s worth it!!! Dude watch the movie Muscle Shoals too!! Thanks for reminding me of the good ole days
Man there's so many unbelievable songs from the 60s-80s, they could have stopped making music. It don't and won't ever get better. It was meaningful and had a story line to it.
@@theodoreritola7641 I have no idea but from the 90s on, and especially after all that American idol crap where certain people in the industry built "superstars" in their own workshops to do what the industry wanted instead of people writing and producing "inspired music", it just went to Taylor Swiftless and Justin Beaver reeetarrrdeeed.
This is the song I played for my son as a lullaby. 35 years later I walked into my daughter's hospital room as my son inlaw was rocking my new grandson to sleep singing Simple Man to him ❤😂A memory I will carry in my heart for ever😊
They were from my hometown. When the Allman Brothers Band debuted in 1969-70, they were hailed for their dual lead guitars, but Skynyrd had three, because their bass player, Leon Wilkeson, played the bass melodically. It added a richness to their music. Southern rock became a huge genre in the '70s; most of the bands that played it went country after the original fad waned. All the band members were from working-class backgrounds on the west side of town, which could be kind of rough. They had played the homecoming dance at my high school at the beach one year, and within a couple of years they were on tour opening for Led Zeppelin, The Who, and other top international acts of the day. Ronnie was the ruler of the band; he would perform barefoot on stage, but he kept the other band members in line. Even though their songs sound like they're improvising in certain parts, they had specific notes they were supposed to be playing then. If one of them messed up their part, they could count on getting a whoopin' after the show from Ronnie! Supposedly, as the plane they were in was going down and they were all bracing for impact, Ronnie looked over at one of the other band members who survived and sort of nodded; he knew those were his final moments. Artimus Pyle had served in the Marine Corps, and where the plane went down was in a remote, swampy area that was very inaccessible. Artimus was severely injured, but he somehow pulled himself out of the wreckage and made it through to a nearby road, where he was able to get help for them from several local people who had seen the plane going down. When guitarist Ed King joined the band after Leon flaked out, a lot of things changed. He had previously been with a '60s band called the Strawberry Alarm Clock, and introduced them to a lot of the big producers in the music business. Those companies were run by lawyers, and they would use drugs to control the band members in their stable. The boys were kind of undisciplined and wild; there would be times they'd get drunk before the show and mess up - and if Ronnie's beatings didn't keep them in line, the lawyers were suddenly there to fill that gap. They'd been heavy drinkers and smoked some pot before, but they really weren't into heavy drugs before then. The plane crash in '77 was life-changing for those band members who survived it. All of them suffered from drug addiction and alcoholism for the rest of their lives. More casualties of the rock 'n' roll lifestyle!
Every time my mom would hear this come on the radio she would call me and just let the phone sit there while this song played sometime she would even leave it on my voicemail. Thanks Mom! Rest In Peace🙏🏼
The stunned look on your face at Ronnie's vocals is everything and it matches mine every single time I have listened to this song across my whole life. That band was so amazing - all of those guitars in perfect harmony with each other.
You nailed it, you feel the realness in the lyrics. Yes, be simple, find love and don’t forget there is someone up above you. Bless your heart, live how your Momma raised you. I can see in you that she did her job as Mother. She has a fine son to carry on her life. You are her legacy. God bless you and your family. Much love and respect from Southeastern Kentucky!
We're playing this at my brother in law's funeral next weekend. Last year he asked me to please remember to play it for everyone, while we were at his granddaughter's bday party. He knew his time was coming soon to be called home. I found your channel while helping my niece look for songs for his memorial. Its kinda helped with the grieving process. We also had my step-dad's friend's band play it at his funeral. Along with Tim McGraw's Live Like You Were Dying. If you sit and think about your mom passing and listen to this by yourself, its just good for the soul.
Sorry for your loss...prayers for your family 🙏. My uncle died in the 90s and the family played Freebird. There is a beautiful song I played at my mom's funeral little over a year ago called Scars in Heaven by Casting Crowns. Beware it's a tearjerker but worth the listen 🤴🕊️💜
I'm glad I played this for my only son, whenever we heard it after that we'd look at each other and smile, then turn it up. I miss him so much, it's been almost 3 years since he passed.. I'll never be the same and miss him daily. TY Black Pegasus for doing it .
Just a beautiful message in this song. Baby, be a simple kind of man. Be something, you'll love and understand. There it is. So simple yet so hard to live by sometimes.
My mother was 88 yrs old whenever she passed away 4 yrs ago, one of her fav songs was, "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. ❤. She also loved Bob Seger.
Now you're getting one of the true meanings of southern culture. There's nothing like the love and advice coming from your mama or grandmother. It is one of Skynyrd's staple songs that must be included in any backstory of the band's history.
Love how much love you have for your mother. I know that she hears you and understands what a positive impact she had on you. Every mother would love to hear this love, from their son or sons, but most guys never verbalize it to them. Keep sharing your heart with her; she is still feeling your heart in hers. You are a Simple and Wonderful Man. 🙏💕
Stumbled onto your channel this evening. 'Simple Man' is a profound song for me (coming as it did) at a major crossroad in my life. My Mother was very sick while I was in High School (due to kidney failure). She struggled for several years and got progressively worse as time marched on (My Father had died unexpectedly in 1976 when I was just 12). New Years Eve, 1980: I was home alone with her as the rest of my brothers and sisters all went out to celebrate the coming New Year. We were in the kitchen while she made some Tea. She filled her cup with hot water and, looking down at the counter, softly said out loud to me "This (coming) Year just has to be Better'. She was rushed to the Hospital on February 23. On February 25, 1981 she died while still in the Hospital as Doctors tried to save her. We all found out what happened when my Grandparents, Aunt and Cousin showed up at 6:30 AM to our house when we were all just getting up to go to school. My Cousin was a loud mouthed brat, but on that day, I watched him walk into the living room and sit down without uttering a word. I knew right then what had happened before anyone had said anything :( I had lost both my parents before I even graduated High School. Something snapped in me right then and I told the world to FUCK OFF right there! I NEVER wanted to go through that kind of pain ever again! 'Simple Man' was the one song I played the most as I grieved. To say I was just totally lost is an understatement. It took me years to come to terms with what happened (One NEVER 'gets over it'- You just make your peace and carry on as best as you can). Today, my wife and I have two adopted boys from China with Special Needs. The first one graduated High School in June. His brother is due to follow June 2025. In 2017, I was working at my shop late one night. I stopped work and earnestly prayed to God with a proposal, saying, 'Let me live long enough to see both of my sons graduate from High School, something my parents could not give me. In Exchange: When my second son graduates, You can tap me on the shoulder that very night and say 'Come With Me, it's time to go'. I won't argue, put up any fuss or try to back out of my deal. I'll simply rise to my feet and say 'OK'. And that will be that. Will He accept my offer? I'll find out June of 2025- Stay Tuned!

This was their first album and they had a well-known producer. The producer didn't want this song on the album. Ronnie led him from the studio to his car and told him they would let him know when they were done recording it. Ronnie could be a scary dude ... especially when he was drunk.
The guy on the far right (Ed King) had just joined the band and still felt like an outsider. He was a California dude and the rest of the band was from Jacksonville, FL which is practically South Georgia. In 1967 he had already been on a number one hit (Incense & Peppermints) with another band called Strawberry Alarm Clock. The band had taken numerous shots in this position for the album cover and on the very last shot, lightning struck right behind Ed's head and they used it. Moments after this final shot was taken, one of the other band members threw up. I think it was from drinking too much.
@@joewiley62he didn't say Steve Gaines, he said Ed King and he is right about Ed King. This song and first album was recorded long before Steve Gaines even joined Lynyrd Skynyd. Steve Gaines replaced Ed King after King left the band after a disagreement with Ronnie Van Zandt, who was a mean drunk, after Ronnie almost broke the fingers of Kings right hand becuase Ronnie was very drunk and said King had been playing bad after a concert one night. King also did not like the bands habit of after a concert getting drunk and starting bar room fights .
@@joewiley62 All the original band members pictured on that album cover were from Jacksonville with the exception of Ed King. Gaines did not join the band as a guitarist until years later.

AMEN to that
For most of us the rebel flag meant just that....Being a Rebel

@@sandralybrand9425so sorry for your loss. Mother's biggest fear to bury one of her own❤
Born and raised in NY and lived in NC for 11 years.
Perfect synopsis
I was raised in Brockport NY and have lived in Lexington NC for almost 40 years. What part of NY u from? Let them know NY is a big state and a LOT of country! I worked and played on many farms growing up...
Again, perfect
Amen.
It's not negative to you obviously. But if you could make a giant leap and try looking at other people's point of you, you might reconsider.

Check out ON THE HINT and THE BALLAD OF CURTIS LOEW. Although you can't go wrong with any Skynyrd song.
Lynyrd Skynyrd is the greatest Southern rock band of all time! 🐐 🐐
Even Skynyrd would tell you that's the Allman Brothers, but I grew up with Skynyrd and to me they're my favorite.
I'd say Allman Brothers, but I wouldn't argue too hard about it.
They were fantastic ❤

Love Skynard, but I'll take Bob seger and the silver bullet band over them 😮
“Give me 3 steps . Give me 3 steps mister “ hilarious song.
Worked in a bar where there was a band that would play this for me (Linda Louise)
Love that songs.
Skynyrd literally has zero bad songs, some are depressing, some are upbeat, but 100% are good.
Until about 1992...
The Most underrated band in American History.
Who underrated them? Same comment on every single older song. They were and still are superstars.
Underrated? Sorry, but NO! Greetings from Germany ;)
They get their due!
UNDERRATED BY WHO??
Thank you. I'm so tired of people telling reactors to listen to the shinedown version ( which is good) when the original is so much better. You'll also love Tuesday's Gone
If this song doesn't move you, you have no pulse. It is absolutely a beautiful, moving song with a timeless message.
hidden treasure...people associate LS with a "Rebel Flag" but beneath it...if you listen, well...auditory gold.
Tuesday’s gone and Ballad of Curtis Loew are MUSTS by LS

Chartered by the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd from L & J Company of Addison, Texas, it was flying from Greenville, South Carolina, to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, crashing near its destination.[3][4]
Lynyrd Skynyrd lead vocalist and founding member Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist and vocalist Steve Gaines, backing vocalist Cassie Gaines (Steve's older sister), assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, Captain Walter McCreary and First Officer William John Gray all died as a result of the crash, while twenty others survived.[5] The tragedy abruptly halted Lynyrd Skynyrd's career until Van Zant's brother Johnny reformed the band ten years later.
I had the great pleasure of seeing Lynard Skynard on August 25 of 1977 at the big A in California.
That’s beautiful. Thanks for the report.
What hurts is what happens to the band mates
Lynyrd Skynyrd's first LP came out in August 1973 and I was hooked on their music. The song Simple Man is one of my favorite and I have been listening to that song for over fifty years. Every time I listen it still brings tears to my eyes.
Tuesday's Gone is another banger by Lynyrd Skynard.
Yes!

I'm 57 years old. I never fail to get choked up to this song. Please continue to explore this amazing all-American treasure of a band.

I grew up In Kodiak Alaska in the 60s and 70s In had no clue what that even was. I JUST ENJOYED MY youth Huge in the 70s Best 10 years EVER
I’m just always amused when people from other parts of the world tell us southerners what that flag means to us. I decided that people just like to bitch.
Buckshot...that was beautiful...teared up a little.
Great explanation. It’s hard to describe to those who have been brainwashed.

I knew you would love this song. Hearing Ronnie Van Zant sing these lyrics is just one of the best things in music. A deep philosophy wrapped in the most accessible form. Life brings complicated challenges, but the most important things in life are very simple.
There's nothing like Skynyrd. True Southern Rock!

TIMELESS! I luv all music. But this one of my top 5 from the 70s and the lyrics are soul touching. I printed the words and put the song on a disc and gave them to my son!
They didn't cut a bad song ever. Just start at their 1st album and go from there. I promise you won't be disappointed.
💯💯
This song was written by lead vocalist Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Gary Rossington. The song came from conversations the two had about their mothers. They discussed the advice and wisdom their mothers had imparted to them, which they felt was valuable and worth sharing through their music.
Yes, she sees it. Plus, look at you! You’re doing it!!! That’s something to be proud of
I'm from the UK and I have to say that my own flag, the flag of St.
This should be the anthem for every young man who has lost their mother at a young age.
Bless Lynyrd Skynyrd .

Everything Skynyrd does is mind blowing!! You should try Tuesday's Gone by Skynyrd!!! Absolutely phenomenal!!! ❤❤
I saw this band many many moons ago. Might be my favorite concert ever and I've seen so many.

My mother was 88 yrs old whenever she passed away 4 yrs ago, one of her fav songs was, "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. ❤. She also loved Bob Seger.
Sweet Home Alabama is another song that meant everyone hit the dance floor.
Now you're getting one of the true meanings of southern culture. There's nothing like the love and advice coming from your mama or grandmother. It is one of Skynyrd's staple songs that must be included in any backstory of the band's history.
What a GREAT, POWERFUL song. Real stuff. Glad you like it.
I knew right then what had happened before anyone had said anything :(
I had lost both my parents before I even graduated High School.
This is a great song for sure. One of their other underrated greats also is "They Call Me The Breeze".
Ronnie Van Zant had a wonderful voice. Skynyrd was an INCREDIBLE band!!
The original and the BEST!
Not many covers get close, I think 3Doors Down did a good cover of "That Smell" live, not sure it was on an album, buts its out there.
It was on an album but that live version is amazing.

People forget that call me the breeze is a cover song. But they did it so well .
The best!!....Billy Powell on the piano is phenomenal!
“Southern Pride” baby…my favorite band ever 🇺🇸👍…this song gives me goosebumps EVERY TIME !
I love that you can appreciate the original and just how good they really were. They are the epitome of classic southern rock.
Classified as"southern rock"
Hence the rebel flag of the south
...absolutely No racism.
😂
They said they started to bring the flag when they became world famous an people in Europe calling them yanks an so they started rocking the rebel flag. Cause even in Europe they knew the rebel flag was southern.
Thank you! The flag is the blood of christ and the stars represent our states!
@@britneyfanvideosflleave your silly blood cults nonsense out of conversation. Jebus being a blood sacrifice for mankinds sin played out. If there was an all powerfull god, it wouldn't need blood magic to have the ability to forgive anything, it wouldn't need to come down as a ghost to IMPREGNATE one of its creations, more blood magic. That is absurd, deserving ot ridicule and contempt.
@jeromyaucoin17
Maybe keep your silly unrepressed hate and contempt for a huge portion of humanity and their beliefs out of these comments. Nobody asked you to be rude and dump on other people's deeply held convictions. Also forgot to mention that the person you 🤮 🤢 all your derision on was only explaining the authentic and original concept behind the flag. The op wasn't even trying to get into a religious discussion, 🙄 just explaining the origin of the flag on a thread about the meaning of the flag. Triggered much?😂
I went to the last concert in Greenville SC the night before the crash! It was heartbreaking! Gone but will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!
Curtis Loew is a good one, then you can't go wrong with any Lynyrd Skynyrd, saw them in 76 opening for the Doobie Brothers, great show, great reaction
50 years ago I heard this tune, I’ve sung this song as a cover a hundred times. This one still gives me goosebumps 😎
Tuesdays Gone, The Ballad of Curtis Lowe, Give Me Back My Bullets,Things Goin On, Saturday Night Special, wow just so many!! Gimme 3 Steps,. Best album, imo One More from the Road Live at Fox Theater!!
(Incense & Peppermints) Great song!
Gaines was from Oklahoma.....
Sweet Home Alabama, Tuesdays Gone, Gimme 3 Steps, That Smell, They Call Me the Breeze, are all legendary LS songs!
All amazing songs!!!
Been listening to this song for 40 yrs. It still tears me up today.
They were a southern rock band who developed their music in Jacksonville Florida. They have so much history here. These songs were all truth. Ronnies brother sings lead now. He lives a mile from me. Still singing and every now and we catch him at their favorite restraunt, Whitys Fish camp. I can tell you about anything you want to know.
Our friend has JBL 4311 Control Monitors in his house. My hubby still has his JBLs he got around 1977-1978 and they still blow the doors off the house. Who needs headphones LOL
Same
My plants would vibrate and fall off of them , had the same 👍
Fun fact I babysat my newborn granddaughter during the week when she was fussy this is one of the songs they calmed her down😂 why who knows but she had good taste in music.

Your Mom is still with you right now, brother. She's proud of you and She continually guides you and the lives of your beautiful family.
Your Mom knows... because She's the Light of your World.
Love & Peace to you and yours.
Lynyrd Skynyrd sing from his heart ❤️ I cannot get enough of his 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶
This song always makes me reminisce about my my son Reggie. He passed 2 yrs ago at age 53. Very hard to get along with at times when drinking. But a true heart of gold. I'm still awestruck at times that he was a part of my life for 53 years . I'm 72 and pray I'll see him again one day
God bless you!
“Give me Back Bullets” !!!!! Nasty song!!
Love it
