@@josie3028 I can't relate with Freddie as he died before I was born, but I do feel very sad that I didn't get to see him or hear him live, I do feel the same way about Queen Elizabeth and Shane Warne because I did see them. World isn't the same without all 3.
I saw Queen performing 3 times in Vorst Nationaal in Brussels late seventies and eightees, and I'm convinced there will never be a band that will perform like Queen did.
Interesting factoid: the next act after Queen was David Bowie. Apparently Bowie said to someone just as Queen were taking their bows, "How the FUCK am I supposed to follow that?" And Elton John went to their caravan afterwards, came in and said, with a huge smile, "You bastards! You've stolen the show!"
I am old enough to have watched it live on TV. Rami Malek's performance of Freddie in "Bohemian Rhapsody" was so spot on, I was floored and in tears because it was like God had allowed Freddie to return to us unworthy and humble humans once more.
I haven’t seen the movie yet and I’m honestly not sure if I can handle seeing it. I don’t know if I want to watch someone pretending to be Freddie, he’s just so magical and epic that I don’t know if anyone can do him justice.
The thing is, this was not even Queen's audience! Many different people came to see different artists, yet Freddie, Roger, John and Bri all rocked them and made them go wild!
Queen still uniting millions of people in unison whether it be clapping, singing, crying, we love Queen and miss our Freddie terribly. My heart is still gutted all these years later. 💔❤️😭
Freddie is unarguably one of the best singers, performers front men of all time. He's so good that people overlook how amazing Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor. Each have to be in at least the Top 20 of all time on their particular instrument just on their own.
They played short versions because every band on the day only had a short time slot. Around 20 minutes only. Lots of bands played only 2 or 3 songs, Queen understood and got more songs in by only playing a bit. That was one of the reasons they were so good that day, that and the quality of their music and performance. I remember the day like it was yesterday, was it really 36 years ago......
I think Roger And John deserves as much appreciation, Roger's back-up Vocals+ Solid Drumming and John's realiable Bass Playing is a crucial part of Queen's Sound.
John as well But I have a lot of respect for Roger for always being aware of Freddie He was meant to be backing vocals but if Freddie was struggling on tour he stepped up and supported him Giving Freddie chance to regain himself and carry on

Thank you so much for doing this whole QUEEN performance. They put their hearts and soul in this concert. QUEEN stole the show. The most memorable performance of all time even to this day. "QUEEN FOREVER"
Possibly the best concert moment ever...perfection. I still get choked up watching this after all these years. Thankyou for reacting to this masterpiece.❤
I actually believe this is the single greatest performance caught on camera. He HELD the crowd in his palm for 25 minutes.... this performance makes me always tear up due to the brilliance, the energy, joy and just utter utter magnifico performance.
When he passed in 91' it was the greatest lose in History. You can see and tell looking that Freddy LOVED being on stage and Preforming. He gave his all 100% and then some every single time.
Guys, luckilly i got to watch this live, but when ever i watch this Queen video live i always get goosebumps, it didn't matter who was the most famous star you were back then, 99% of all the stars will tell you who were there that day, they will tell you with no hesitation, Queen stole that show, not many people know this but Brian may and his father built Brians guitar from little pieces of furniture lying around the May house hold and now just like Queen themselves it's priceless, if only music was still made this way today were you needed a good voice, be able to play at least one instrument, the musical world would be a better place.
I'm sitting here smiling from ear to ear watching these 2 men enjoying something I took for granted in 1985 on MTV ! I was 19 and my life was just starting...... Sadly 6 years later Freddie was gone... RIP FREDDIE, ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS! Thank you George & Patrick NEW SUB!
I saw Queen 6 times from 1978 to 1983..... and I saw this performance on my TV at home!! They always performed a great great show!! Thank you for reacting to this!

I’m pretty sure if cellphones existed back then they would be doing the same lol people need to stop being so butt hurt over people doing things they enjoy doing. Some enjoy recording concerts for future memories. Nothing wrong with that. It is possible to enjoy a show and record it at the same time, boomer.
You have no idea how excited I was to see you all do this !!! I’ll never forget that Saturday I watched Live Aid on my TV. There were about 60 bands that day and my jaw dropped at Queens performance. They blew everyone out of the water. There were 72,000 at Wembley, 90,000 in Philadelphia USA and watched by 1.9 Billion on TV around the world. The song you questioned is Hammer to Fall.
No words are needed lads, I remember watching it live in 1985 and the Queen part blew me away. It was perfection personified. I have been a Queen fan since 1974 and that part of live aid is legendary, everything about it was just incredible which unfortunately we will never see ever again, it's a historic moment that is in every heart of Queen fans all over the world and made us British Queen and Freddie Mercury fans proud to be British. You could see that Freddie was enjoying his time on the stage and had a bond with the entire audience at the old Wembley Stadium in London. God we miss Freddie and the Queen band of that time. 😢😢😢😢💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
These guys all play like hell and can sing harmonies at the same time. Freddie? There has never nor will there be another person who can do every damn thing with such coolness and have every person in the audience feel like they were a part of the presentation!
The fact that Freddie and Queen still have this effect on people today is a testament to their music genius. Only two Queens can command such audiences. HRH and Freddie Mercury! This was the day the whole world knew that the UK had two Queens!! Seeing people still getting as much joy today really does choke me up. I'm not really tearing up. You are! Xx
In my opinion, this was THE Greatest MOMENT in Rock History! Now you know how Queen stole the show on July 13, 1985! I bought my 1st VCR the day before specifically to record the entire 24 hour performance. I bought the DVD many years later, so I have literally enjoyed this performance 100s of times, and for the last 20 years, I celebrate the anniversary by watching again every July 13 at the same time of day as their performance. Yours was the most joyful reaction to Queen/Live Aid that I've seen, and I knew it was going to be fantastic to share in your experience! Makes me feel like it's 1985 watching it LIVE all over again! Love how you guys keep it real! And I don't care what Wikipedia says, there just HAD to be 200,000 people there. Doesn't Wembley Stadium seat 80-100,000? The entire field was WALL to WALL people STANDING, packed together like sardines. I've been at a Rock Shows (Bowie, Stones) at 90,000 fans. This just HAD to be twice that! 🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦
Was the same at Knebworth in 86; the crowd reached as far back as the beer tents! Still amazing, in my top 5 bands i have ever seen and I have seen them all, pretty much.
As others have said. I remember this day. My husband had to work but I was in front of the TV most of the day. Each performer/band had 20 min. If they went over microphones were cut off. Queen wanted to give the audience all they had even if they had to shorten songs a bit. Imagine. Almost two billion people saw this live around the world!
You are the Best Thank you 😍 Freddie performed against his doctor's orders, He didnt want to let down the fans Also, that is not a Queen crowd but they became when He performed with the band. Long live his legacy
You guys should check out an audience waiting for a Green Day concert to start...all singing Bohemian Rhapsody. It shows that even beyond the grave, Freddie has complete command of the crowd. Music is a language everyone speaks...just some of us (like me) can't carry a tune, but appreciate it all the same.

Love this moment in rock history! Freddie never looked happier!! Roger stated it was Freddie’s day to shine!! Queen practiced for a couple weeks getting their 20 min set perfect ... with a giant clock to keep their performance in check!! Queen was added late to the artists list of performers. Most of the crowd had no idea Queen were gonna be there! My heart still pounds watching this!! 🥰
All the more remarkable as Freddie was sick and told not to perform and that was NOT a "Queen" crowd but they were one of 24 (?) Acts that performed that day but, as you saw, they stole the show :)
My disappointment in myself is immeasurable and no words can adequately express my remorse regarding my inexcusable faux pas. I am mortified that I got to make such a Schoolboy error and I only try to crave your forgiveness for my brief moment of total complete and utter insanity in making this mistake. Peter met Freddie briefly in 79 when he did a charity performance with the ballet peter was later offered to become Freddie pa At this point Freddie had been in a relationship with David for two or three years,he had a group of friends in the uk he referred to as daughters, went to gay clubs.. So I dont know what Peter is talking about He then dated joe for two years but again this is before Freddie met Peter Freddie and joe broke up because he couldn't cope with not having an open relationship with Freddie But that's not due to being ashamed.. There would have been pressure from the band and management. .to be vague about sexuality..relationships Brian said he had to have words with Freddie that his songs and style were starting to have gay overtones starting with dont stop me now

Because there were many other bands performing there that day to benefit Live Aid donations, every band was limited to performing 20 minutes. That's why some of their songs were cut short...... so they could play several of them. So many hits. Glad you enjoyed this. They were a fantastic band. Miss Freddie. Thanks for reacting to it.
I saw this live on TV i barely missed a band and if we had to go out we listened to it on the radio.Queen was a last minute additionbto Live Aid and they totally stole the show as you can see❤ Hey from Canada🇨🇦
Queen’s roadie Peter Hince (AKA Ratty) said he went out and bought a heap of alarm clocks and set them up all around their rehearsal area, because each band got a 20 minute time slot and then they’d turn the sound off. So Queen practiced for two weeks, condensed the songs down so they could fit in as many hits as possible. They were thoroughly prepared and it showed. Some of the other bands were woefully unprepared. Queen were always professional and wanted to give a great show to the fans. 70,000 people at Wembley that day and they weren’t even all Queen fans because the tickets had sold out before it was even announced they would be playing. And look at them all, clapping and singing along, waving like an ocean current. What a spectacular sight and Freddie had the best view of all. There was love flowing right back at him. Only Freddie could inspire such devotion. Loved your reaction guys. Please do some of their early work, Stone Cold Crazy and Liar
I will never forget watching Live Aid on the day 13 July 1985 on TV - I was probably in front of the box most of the day! It was all over the news of course and we just couldn't wait for the concert - we were so excited! I remember Status Quo starting the whole thing off with Rocking All Over The World and then it just took off. Queen's performance was certainly the star turn and I remember we all talked about it in the office on the Monday. And these many decades later when I also saw Status Quo's opening "Rockin' All Over The World, I had a twinge of sadness for them cause SQ were fabulous! Then I saw Status Quo interviewed and they piled praise onto Queen, acknowledged Queen was the best of all no matter how great many others were.
Love that you noticed Roger's backing vocals. All 4 were killing it that day. Brian's guitar was spectacular. Freddie was selling those songs like only he can. To go out there to that crowd and do Ay-O and completely command them is unbelievable. They rehearsed for a week with clocks. They had 20 minutes and if you went over they would cut the power. If you notice at the end of Champions when Freddie brings down his hand the light goes red at the front of the stage. It was timed perfectly. Great reaction even though you forgot you were reacting! Lol.
Got to give Roger a lot of credit for their 'to the second' performance. He kept the tempo of every song perfectly over a 20 minute set to allow them to finish on the second. Not many drummers can do that for the duration of just 1 song.

R.I.P. Freddie, we love u 💕
Don't forget John Deacon, he was hardly EVER heard of, yet he was the brilliant bass guitarist!! Loved them all ofcourse!!

Deacon was the silent one and by what I've read he liked it that way, but he's one hell of a musician and songwriter.
Almost thirty years without him and it hurts like he left yesterday. Some say time heals all wounds but not this one.
It doesn't heal. We just get used to the pain.
I agree...and I got so mad at the recent death hoax about Brian! That was terrible! No one in the Queen stratasphere is prepared for that😭 Rest In Paradise beautiful Freddie ❤️👑🎹🎤❤️

@@josie3028 I can't relate with Freddie as he died before I was born, but I do feel very sad that I didn't get to see him or hear him live, I do feel the same way about Queen Elizabeth and Shane Warne because I did see them. World isn't the same without all 3.
Absolutely, it feels like it happened yesterday. Rest in power Freddie ❤️
I saw Queen performing 3 times in Vorst Nationaal in Brussels late seventies and eightees, and I'm convinced there will never be a band that will perform like Queen did.
He wasn't just performing audience he was also singing for the ROYAL FAMILY
Interesting factoid: the next act after Queen was David Bowie.
Apparently Bowie said to someone just as Queen were taking their bows, "How the FUCK am I supposed to follow that?"
And Elton John went to their caravan afterwards, came in and said, with a huge smile, "You bastards! You've stolen the show!"
The best 20 minutes of music..... ever

Freddie can never be copied because he was a true master. We miss him.

Rami did a great job acting like Freddie in bohemian rhapsody the movie but no one can replace Freddie himself
I am old enough to have watched it live on TV. Rami Malek's performance of Freddie in "Bohemian Rhapsody" was so spot on, I was floored and in tears because it was like God had allowed Freddie to return to us unworthy and humble humans once more.
That made me cry what you just said! Really miss you Freddie!
I haven’t seen the movie yet and I’m honestly not sure if I can handle seeing it. I don’t know if I want to watch someone pretending to be Freddie, he’s just so magical and epic that I don’t know if anyone can do him justice.
I’m a grown man at 41 years old. It just brings a tear to my eye watching this. Only the good die young.
The thing is, this was not even Queen's audience! Many different people came to see different artists, yet Freddie, Roger, John and Bri all rocked them and made them go wild!
“Crazy little thing” was/is Freddie’s tribute to Elvis. 💕👍🏼
And written by Freddie in 5-10mins in the bath using only a few cords he knew ( at the time)on the guitar.
Queen still uniting millions of people in unison whether it be clapping, singing, crying, we love Queen and miss our Freddie terribly. My heart is still gutted all these years later. 💔❤️😭

No better singer or showman than Freddie Mercury. He was simply the best!

@@janicelindsey9557 Vocally, Mick couldn't hold a candle to Freddie. That is not even a debate.
Absolutly agree
For me is paul mccartney the best singer
Freddie is unarguably one of the best singers, performers front men of all time. He's so good that people overlook how amazing Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor. Each have to be in at least the Top 20 of all time on their particular instrument just on their own.
When I saw the movie and this part was shown everyone in the theater clapped along with Freddie. That alone shows how influential Freddie was.
It's so unfortunate that Rami Malek did not capture any of Freddie's nuances or ticks. Rami is very overrated.
Nah, can't be. I remember it so well. But I was 19 so...yes, a long time ago.
I was ten years old and it distracted me for twenty minutes from a summer day that was begging me to ride a bike or chase a frog.
I think Roger And John deserves as much appreciation, Roger's back-up Vocals+ Solid Drumming and John's realiable Bass Playing is a crucial part of Queen's Sound.
John as well
But I have a lot of respect for Roger for always being aware of Freddie
He was meant to be backing vocals but if Freddie was struggling on tour he stepped up and supported him Giving Freddie chance to regain himself and carry on

Throat problems were normal though
Even if there was clearer information he would have probably put that down to work
They toured over 9 months except for nov and Dec,I'm assuming thats when he finished his album
Even though he had been working for 9 months he had a few weeks to recover but maybe this wasn't enough
In earlier years he wasn't getting a real brake between recording and touring and caused damage so was always having throat problems,it didnt help that quite often he was competing with the band which strained hos voice
I doubt they would have been concerned over live aid
Magic tour he really steuggled and realised something was wrong
Brian said when he said he was done they just thought he was tired and in a bad mood, they didn't think much of it until they realised oh he actually means this
Apparently he first told them he had liver problems or something so maybe they were still hoping they would continue at some point even if theyre smaller tours
Their producer Dave Richards said during Innuendo Roger came to him asking if he knew what was wrong with Freddie
I think he only told them when he was really ill
@@dingdong-lt9rz I'll need to take more notice of video's,i had the impression that even though it was short that the magic tour was good and he was in form vocally,I haven't seen comments saying it was bad,but i I haven't taken much notice either
In heinsight yes the sore throat could have been a result of hiv
What i meant was there was no concern at live aid because he had toured 9 months...
It was after magic tour he realised something was more serious than normal fatigue
But the band still didnt realise it was serious just he was in a bad mood
Roger has said in heinsight freddie must have realised it was serious
He took a test in 86 which came back negative, retested in 87 also diagnosed with kaposi sarcoma skin cancer
But it was during innuendo they were told properly..

Sad thing is that nowadays half of the people in the crowd would be holding up their phones and not living the moment as they should..

I have been a Queen fan since 1974 and that part of live aid is legendary, everything about it was just incredible which unfortunately we will never see ever again, it's a historic moment that is in every heart of Queen fans all over the world and made us British Queen and Freddie Mercury fans proud to be British.

As others have said. I remember this day. My husband had to work but I was in front of the TV most of the day. Each performer/band had 20 min. If they went over microphones were cut off. Death on two legs is known to be about the Sheffield brothers who tried to sue them over it

And hes shown his arse to the crowd since that song
It would also make sense as a general message as he was treated badly by critics and press
If you have a problem with me you can kiss my arse..
What are you assuming it's about then? That hes gay so it must be sexual?
It's a line in the song hes done this gesture since that song I think its makes more sense
But any of our opinions are just assumptions!
@gigi v
Can you remember when Peter said or implied they were lovers
I have seen a few interviews by Peter but haven't seen that,I just looked it up now and wasn't offered anything
Peter does give a lot of opinions on things he doesn't know though
Hes saying he discovered life through Paul and realised it wasnt a sin to be gay...
Peter met Freddie briefly in 79 when he did a charity performance with the ballet peter was later offered to become Freddie pa
At this point Freddie had been in a relationship with David for two or three years,he had a group of friends in the uk he referred to as daughters, went to gay clubs..
So I dont know what Peter is talking about
He then dated joe for two years but again this is before Freddie met Peter
Freddie and joe broke up because he couldn't cope with not having an open relationship with Freddie
But that's not due to being ashamed..
There would have been pressure from the band and management. .to be vague about sexuality..relationships
Brian said he had to have words with Freddie that his songs and style were starting to have gay overtones starting with dont stop me now
I honestly believe that when Freddie bends over that's just his way of telling the audience that he likes them. Lol
There will never be another Freddie Mercury. There will never be another band as phenomenal as Queen.

Great reaction!!!! One of the best I've seen for Live Aid.
Your jaws hit the ground when he started his singing echo with the crowd, this became a routine since the late 70s so they knew what they had to do.
Freddie Mercury was incredible - you just couldn't take your eyes off him and of course as you can see the crowd just went mad. I will never forget that performance and it's so good to be able to watch it again on UA-cam. Thanks so much for reacting to this guys - I can certainly understand that you would have wanted to be there!

Yes! We had open house party all day and night. Greatest lineup ever.
8:54 Freddie's interaction withe the camera man. Absolutely carasmatic and so much fun.
