Hi, in my biochemistry book it says glycerol 3 phosphate is formed primarily by the reduction of DHAP synthesized by the gluconeogenic pathway and phosphorylation of glycerol. In your video, it says glycolysis. Also, you mention that adipose tissue is the major site of triacylglycerol synthesis but my book mentions it is the liver. Which then transports TAG to muscles for energy or adipose tissue for storage. Book I'm referring to is Biochemistry by Jeremy Berg and others.

M G hey there, isn’t adipocytes the place for triglyceride storage? From my understanding, I agree with you that Triacylglycerol should be syn. in liver. It then carried by chylomicron (with Apoproteins) to the capillary for fatty acids absorption.

DHAP is synthesized both in gluconeogenesis or glycolysis. It all depends on the state of ATP concentration in the cell. If there is a high amount of glucose, which usually happens after eating and insulin is produced, this means DHAP is coming from glycolysis, and if your body has enough ATP already, it can make the triacylglycerols for storage rather than continuing down with glycolysis. Or maybe your body need to make more membrane lipids/prostaglandins, then it will use the DHAP for this process rather than ATP production
