      I am just seeing this video and was thinking the same thing! I have a tiny garden but I have a huge flat bed cart so I can move soil deliveries and shorten the amount of trips I need to make. I am 58 and have mobility issues, arthritis blah, blah etc.. so I wouldn’t get anything done without the help of my kids and these modern contraptions 😂 I would just want her to be kinder to her body now so she’s still rocking with her garden well into her future. 💞🙏🏽

    I love that you get excited about the sunflowers. ~My Neighbor~ has planted his entire suburban front yard in mixed sunflowers. You currently cannot see his house. 😅 I am delighted by his antics. There’s gotta be 200+ 12-15ft sunflowers, all colors. 🌻

    Hi everyone! Becky corn is a heavy feeder! Yellowing tells me it needs nitrogen! Also the pumpkin plants in that same bed are way smaller than your other ones and might be struggling for the same reason! But everything looks amazing and I'm so excited for you 💚💚💚

    • @ndproducelady
      @ndproducelady Рік тому +11

      I was also thinking that they need more water. The corn and pumpkins look like they are under stress. So more water and nitrogen is a must.

      I was just about to leave this comment about the corn. A good layer of blood meal every 1-2 weeks will get them really nice and dark green. Pumpkins are heavy feeders too. And with them being in the same bed...more blood meal.

    • @crankiemanx8423
      @crankiemanx8423 Рік тому +1

      I came here to say exactly the same,they are considered "heavy feeders" in addition to your great suggestions maybe next year they need to be planted with a bit more space between them so the don't compete as much for nutrients.

  • @tamaraameling1289
    @tamaraameling1289 Рік тому +25

    Becky, you really need a rolling push garden cart to take to the garden with you to put those heavy filled baskets and heavy produce in to bring back to the house. I think it would make your harvest easier! Make sure it has the kind of wheels that roll easily over your gravel.

    The garden looks amazing!! Just a suggestion, use a wagon (collapsable canvas is what I use) to harvest. Have a bucket for chickens, one for compost, and your harvest baskets. You won't have to make so many trips up to the house and when you see chicken food, it is pulled right away so plants can reset fruit quickly.

    Now what you need to do is, grab a bunch of weather stickers - go through your seeds, find out what likes sun & what likes shade - place appropriate sticker on containers. This will make it easier to know if to plant on north / south side of beds.😀👍

    My grandparents used to have a rescued border collie that came from an awful situation. She was so sweet and so energetic, and also had that crazy collie intelligence. She would let herself out of 2 doors to get to my grandma's peas and beans and just eat every single pod that she could reach! They ended up having to let her have them as she would escape just to get to them❤

    A suggestion, get a pair of garden clogs so you are not tracking dirt into the house. The “baby” will be crawling soon and as you walk through grave and dirt and manure you are bringing it in. Think about the germs all over your floor and then hi putting his hands in his mouth. Clogs can be left at the door and hosed off. You also need a decent knife to cut your produce rather than yanking and ripping everything and stressing the plant.

    My husband ordered us a chamber vacuum sealer and I thought he was crazy. After two years of using it, I absolutely love it. I can vacuum seal multiple jars at one time, or I can use it to seal retort pouches for pressure canning, or mylar bags for long term shelf storage, or vacuum seal stuff for the freezer. I'm not sure how we ever lived without it. You are fortunate to have an extra room where you can keep yours -- mine lives on the end of a counter in the corner, and it's huge.

    Becky, I just wanted to say that whenever I'm feeling not my best or unmotivated, watching a good Becky video always seems to do the trick. I was feeling pretty discouraged over my garden. Its a new garden and there was so many things I wasn't able to plant because not all the raised beds were put together and we had to have compost delivered because we live on rocks. This is going to be a lot of work, and I'm getting older (will be 49 this year) and things have been tough. Just a tough few years. So thank you for the great videos. Your content is uplifting. Encouraging. I'm thinking next year will be great. I do have some successes... Just not everything. Some of my seeds were duds too.. And... Some of the seeds I planted grew something totally different than how it was labeled. I planted Chocolate peppers and thats not what I got. I have tiny cherry looking peppers. I'm trying to go with the flow. Happy gardening everyone and thanks again for the quality content.

    Becky , the Debbie Meyer green bags also come in container form. The containers last forever. Therefore you buy once and done. I use them and love them. Bonus the containers can be used for produce and baked goods and they work great.

    Hey Becky! I’m a long time subscriber of yours since you started your channel, so happy to see how far you’ve come you deserve it, you inspired me to start my own garden ❤
    I’m commenting because I think a reason why your yellow zucchini is coming in with hard skins is they could be cross-pollinated with a pumpkin!! A zucchini-pumpkin 🎃I heard about this happening to a gardening friend of mine so I thought I’d share

    Not sure if you know this or not, but you can hand pollinate your corn too. Just give the tassels a little tap and let the wind carry the pollen to the other plants. 😊

    What a bountiful harvest🎉, such a blessing! Jessica from Three Rivers Homestead eats the radish seed pods. She says her whole family loves them. Can't remember if she used them in stir fry or eats them raw. Something to consider. 💞

    It's as though all your produce banded together and wanted to grow, grow, grow to surprise Becky and they succeeded as your joy was priceless! You know what this means - you will have to take more little breaks as nothing was neglected. Your giant pumpkins are amazing. Lots of pumpkin pie in the fall. This means you have days and days ahead of you preserving this lot I loved that you grew eucalyptus so I went and bought some seeds with great instructions so roll on next March. I got dwarf Baby Blue as it only grows to about 6 foot as I certainly did not want a 30 foot tree, lol, as I will be long gone when it gets to that height.
