Good! Good for you to want to learn how to grow something honey. To watch something grow, to live is a beautiful thing. And after you harvest it, it will nourish your life! Watch carefully, she shows you how to take care of it all.
Good on you! In my town a little girl recieved a cabbage seedling in school when she was 9 yrs old. She took it home, planted it, and it grew to 40pds so she donated it to a food bank. That cabbage helped to feed 275 ppl and it inspired her to start a full food garden. She's is the founder of a charity called Katie's Krops and she feeds people all over the United States now. Growing food is a great way to, not just feed yourself and your family, but others too! Find your passion, young lady, and RUN with it!
When you stuck that knife inside the food processor to cut those tomatoes I laughed out loud because that's absolutely something I would do to keep from having to empty it again.😂 Thank you for keeping it real!
I don't know how you do it. Between recording multiple videos each day on recording days, keeping up with Baby Acre and Josh, your garden, your chickens and just life in general, you are one busy woman. I love watching your videos Becky. You're sweet, kind, funny and most of all you're not aftaid to show us the good and the bad of homesteading. Your comments about "I'm not perfect, I'm just trying my best!" really resonate with myself and I'm sure many others. I think so often we get lost in trying to make things perfect and forget that it takes time, patience and sometimes things can get messy and a bit frustrating after a long day. Much love to you and your family. Bye Friend! ❤
Came here for postpartum freezer meal ideas, now my baby is almost 9 months old and im still here every time watching you garden, which I never thought I would be enjoying!
Very good reason for being here, can you tell me what I am doing here? My children are 19,19,23 I don’t garden,I don’t like cooking very much and I certainly don’t can any😂😂😂😂😂
I'm 58 and my kids are grown as well. I don't garden or cook or can. I want to but I'm disabled and it's hard for me to get around. I LOVE watching her videos, they are just so informative and heartwarming. The world is a rough & negative place right now, and her videos take us all away from that for awhile!! That's why I'm here anyway..lol😊❤✌️
I would have thrown that food processor across the room by now…🥴🥴 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve done the same thing..over and over..😤..and this is exactly why we love your channel so much…you’re keeping it real and we’ve all been right with you…more than once. 🥰
Good afternoon, Miss Becky. My name is Debra, and I am saying hi! to you from Temple, Texas. I am not sure when the "NEW" Scratch Pantry went "live", but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the new website, and I can not wait to print off your recipes. I think I might print all of them off and turn them into my very own-"Acre Homestead" Cookbook. I always look forward to your next uploads, and can not wait to see what you come up with next. Thank you for all that you do, and keep up the good work. Best wishes from Debra, Bruce, and Iris. P.S. Iris is my Labrador & great Pyrenes dog that actually watches you when I put UA-cam up on my living room tv. I have been trying to get a video of her, so I could send it to you, but when she sees my cell phone camera, she puts her head down. Lol, Thank you again.
You can harvest your own petunia seeds. I did that and this was the first year I had blooms. At the end of the season, let it dry out. Get a piece of white paper, fold it twice and then shake the stems over the paper. You will see tiny flakes (looks like pepper), that is your seeds! Amazing!!!
Oh wow, again! I tell ya, I always learn something from the comments. I was wondering about this as I dead headed mine this morning. But I didn't know how to do it. Thank you!
@@AcreHomesteadyes, leave the blooms n a little wooden pointed pod will have bunches of very small black seeds in them n some will look cracked open as they're ready to save 😉❗
I suspect a lot of growers like Proven winners uses plant cuttings rather than seed. That could be contributing to why you aren't seeing seeds. Many are bred to be sterile so they keep on blooming.
Becky, have you ever considered, that since you already have the tarp laid out, maybe just dump all the soil in the center of the tarp from all the tiers of the tower. Then amend the soil, then put it back in. It just seems that it would be easier and quicker.
You do more in one day than I can do in a week! No wonder you are tired. I'm so glad that Josh still puts a little sparkle in your eyes even when you are tired. ❤
Becky a tip I learned a couple years ago for seed saving was to let the seeds dry on wax or parchment paper instead of paper towel. I found the paper towel tends to make them shrivel and stick where the wax type papers don't stick and the don't shrivel. Also if you want to save cucumber seeds it is best to ferment them for a couple days. All you need to do is place the slippery seeds in a bowl of water on the counter. After a couple days they will slip out of their slippery pockets the are in. Once you are able to get them out of those pockets allow then to dry close to a week (until they don't clump together) and then store for winter. Hope that helps you. It has been HUGE for us
Came across a video about chickens and fell in love with her ❤....that was about year 1 for her I think 😊. I just did my 1st pressure canning day! My shelves are slowly getting stocked. Thank you for everything!!!
You are such a blessing! I have had a food processor for years and just gave it away. I never used it. Watching you has taught me so much about gardening. Finally after 3 years we have been able to harvest. We have so much coming in that I was sick of chopping and shredding. Lol 😂 I got another one and I love it. You look so tired at the end of the video. You were so busy all day. Thank you for all that you do. ❤
Becky you are the best.. I love love watching every day with you I've learned so much from you in cooking and gardening. You make it look so easy and you have so much energy. Keep up the good work. I'm 74 and I love you working daily. ❤❤❤
You are absolutely delightful to watch! I had to smile when you were working with the food processor. I felt like a crazy woman last week while slicing pickling cucumbers. It was like a Lucy/Ethel skit!!! Your garden looks so neat and well-maintained. Mine would be a jungle!!!
You and Rachel are my two favorite homestead, garden, cooking and canning lady's. I learn so much from the both of you. You are so calm, sweet and a great teacher. Thank you for sharing all the good stuff. 💜
Hi Becky! Thanks for the reminder that I can start again. I was out of town for months to help take care of my dad and just about everything in my greenstalk went to seed. You’re inspiring me to plant some more things in it!
You are doing great. If I were you, I would have already sat back, put my feet up, and drink a cold brew coffee. You get so much more done than I seem to be able to do. Don't feel bad about feeling tired.
Every time I watch plant, harvest or cook, I feel inspired and energized. It’s watching but also listening to all you tips and tricks 😊 I did make the cheddar and zucchini biscuits. Great success ! I wrote the recipe from watching and listening to you and realized that’s how I understand a recipe. Thanks Becky!
I love that you show when things don't go perfect. It makes me feel better knowing mistakes happen even to someone as awesome as you. You always keep it real.
Becky you need to water from the top. The water drains to each tier to wet the soil extra water will drain out the hose 22:34 in bottom. I have a green stalk as well and that was the directions they gave. 😂 i took mine apart and have 5 seperate planters instead of one tall one im 75 easier for me to plant. Good luck. I love your garden spaces
Last winter my daughter deadheaded her petunias and threw them in the garden. This spring they all came up and bloomed👏🏻👏🏻I didn’t know they would do that
Great video - Becky is there a video where you go into detail about how you got started homesteading? Were you always interested in it? I would love to know!
Hi Becky, you always inspire me to try new things, whether it’s in the kitchen or the garden. I am 67 years old now and on social security, so I don’t do much, however I Love to cook every so often and would Love to have a green stalk one day. Thank you for inspiring so many and teaching the younger generations how it’s done. Get some rest you deserve it. 🌻🪴🌻
I have a quick and delicious recipe for flour tortillas that you can freeze them in round balls then thaw out they are not sticky and taste just like fresh without having to make them from the start!! So nice and handy!!
Hi Becky I watch Korean You Tuber and they all wash their rice twice, but she keeps the second lot of rice water and uses it to water her house plants and they the most lush and healthy plants I have seen!
Not sure if you already know this but I saw Sarah, at Living Tradtions, make her 4tray freeze dryer, into a 5 tray one, they show you how to do it, looked pretty easy too. Veseys seeds has petunia seeds. Those sunflowers are so nice, and dinner looks amazing.
Hi Becky. I'm in Scotland, UK. I saw all the nasturtium seeds your plants have produced and just wanted to give you a tip - you can pickle the seeds and use like capers. I love your videos, and always feel inspired and uplifted even though I am 67 and disabled. Love you. I hope this tip is interesting for you. x
Save you rice water and water your plants with it! It was amazing. I planted patio plants for kiddos apartment and they were huge when I got back! He told me about watering with the rice water. He did it once a week
Hi Becky! Plant more broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts. Cut the stems out of them, then wilt them like spinach. Freeze and use them like spinach. So delicious!
I love The Pioneer Woman's restaurant style salsa and pico de gallo. She uses whole canned tomatoes. I like that you can make it any time of year and not just in the summer. I can not do spicy and love that I can make it without the heat.
When I plant veggies, they fruit n they are done... I take their seeds, dry them n store it for other time... N I stop buying seeds from store. From this I learn that the seeds do 100% germinate n plants n veggies are very healthy.
One other thing I realized on my planter, was make sure the little holes in the watering trays line up to the pockets. BTW I got it through you, and I LOVE IT!! I am pulling some of my plants this weekend and you gave me good ideas to what to replace them with. Thanks Becky!
I feel like you need to ask Josh to build you a portable and middle sized "fertilzer bucket" that you can pull out of your shed and roll into your garden when you need to. It could be something like a box with a bucket in it that you screwed wheels and a long handle on. Your vids are amazing - always make me smile and look forward to the next! :)
Excellent! I make 3 kinds of tacos, regular ground beef tacos. Scrambled eggs and fried potato tacos. Baked, shredded chicken and Mexican rice tacos. My sauce for Mexican rice is from 1 can tomato paste, one cup of your favorite salsa and one cup of green salsa. Mix it all together and put one cup in your rice water. Save the rest for next time.
BECKY!! I LOOVE your new website!! It's such a huge improvement to the old one!! And it's so much easier to navigate it and find the right recipe now! Josh and you did such a wonderful job! Thank you! :D :D
Hi i Lively in puerto rico ,i leve every thing Thatcher you do specialy when youexplaine the way you work your garden i am 70 years old and i love to work my garden god bless you
No I don't wash my rice, I buy parboil so it's already cleaned and partially cooked. I just put it in with enough water and leave it to finish cooking.
Becky, do you ever watch Homestead Rescue? He says “homesteading is hard work! If homesteading was easy everyone would be doing it!” He is so right. You are truly a hardworking homesteader and I get so inspired by your videos.
Thank you for inspiring me, I always feel better after watching your video. You are always happy and joyful which is really appreciated by me, your joy is passed on to me. Love your happy family. Love it when you and your mom cook together for a big family meal. Nice to see your dad come and help you in the garden.
Well, i'm really enjoying this vlog of you in what seems like its more of a unedited version of you making a typical dinner on a weekday.. I also love that you dont edit out spills or fails, etc..
I always wash my rice! I use a small wire colander ( sift) and rinse under running water until it runs clear! Gosh Tacos sounds great! Enjoy your meal and those blueberries as dessert!
Hi Becky… I would make the old garden a big pen for the chickens and use the strawberry beds for planting kale and cover crops for the chickens to “free range” on their own garden ❤❤❤❤❤ love your content. Thank you
I made your no knead bread and turned it into croutons for our chef salads tonite. I have to watch my sodium and store bought have so much sodium in them. So made my own!
Cilantro!!! I’m a Texas girl and buy June I need to buy cilantro at .39 per bunch. Just moved aboard a boat full time. The cilantro in Virginia is 2.00 per bunch. Will need to plant some herbs and cilantro. Maybe a visit to see your mom’s garden in the future?
Your Green Stalks… make sure each water reservoir is aligned correctly… align the water holes with each pocket. I didn’t know this the first time I put mine together.
Literally sat here since 8a hitting refresh on your page because its Acre Homestead day!!!!! woohoo!! Great job Becky! Thank you for sharing so much with us! I utilize your videos so much in my gardening!
I do wash my rice, usually about 4 times, until the water is almost clear :) Thank you so much for doing these videos, I have learned so much from you. My mom wasn't much of a cook, so I only really learned that the smoke alarm doubled as an oven timer, lol
I dont know if anyone has said this yet, but you can pickle nasturtium seeds to make "capers". I like to keep a jar in the fridge. they are great with fish!
Look at your petunia plants for seeds. They come from where the flowers were. When the bulbous thing dries it cracks open to expose the seeds. They are very very small black seeds. You might save your own.
It WAS the previous owners garden. That is no longer the previous owners. You own it. It's YOUR garden. And that's fine. Even great! That you've been able to grow the berries!
Thanks Becky! You do sososo much! Thank you for sharing with us…don’t forget to take some down/recharge time…too many people love y’all to see you get burnt out girl! ❤❤❤
I love your garden and freezer meal ideas. But I just want to let you know I’m Mexican. And flour tortillas are for burritos quesadillas. & flautas. Corn tortillas are for tacos or taquitos and enchiladas. I just keep seeing many that say enchiladas are made out of flour tortillas. Which to me is so weird because I have never had tacos made out of flour tortillas. Although the tortillas are versatile and you can create many delicious meals. I would like for someone to say that tortillas can create great meals but the correct way to use the tortillas should be mentioned. Thanks
Just a heads up, make sure you don't leave pots too dry for too long because it can make the soil hydrophobic and it will not want to absorb water anymore.!
Becky I watch you ever day and have learned so much. I only have 2 tiny raised beds nothing like yours and cuz I live I. Tucson everything here is dead. I just have to say my favorite part of watching you and when you taste anything. It cracks me up every time. So far I never seen you eat anything that wasn’t good/ delicious. So great! Ty for keeping a sick old lady happy and laughing with a bonus of great learning
Hi Becky, love your channel. You had me laughing. I could see you were tired and hungry but just chugging along to get everything done. I applaud your ability to multi task and get things done no matter what. Please take some time to slow down for yourself. You are amazing!❤❤ ❤❤❤❤
Watching you struggle with the food processor made me chuckle. so true to life...we have all been there! thanks so much for keeping it real! Love your channel
I just googled wave petunia seeds and there's tons. Park seed has a nice assortment. I love saving seeds! I have found that using coffee filters is the easiest for me because I can write on it what the seed is and I can stack them. 😊
Thank you Becky for sharing your wisdom in the garden. I love watching your vlogs and enjoy when you share your culinary talents. Have a blessed and beautiful evening.
The saved mixed nasturtium seeds means that no matter what, you're likely to be surprised when you grow them in the spring. Maybe you'll have some hybrids of the colors that were in your Green Stalk. You asked if anyone else washes their rice, and my answer is, "It depends what I'm going for." LOL Sticky rice (like the perfect kind to eat with chop sticks) doesn't get washed before cooking for us. For all my Tex-Mex or South American dishes that have rice, yes. I do what a South American friend (I think she's from Guatemala, so technically Central American) taught my Mom. I rinse the raw rice, toss it into a warm pan with some minced onion and neutral oil, stirring fairly constantly until onion is almost translucent and then throw in fresh minced/crushed/grated garlic cloves and stir in just a tad longer. Then I put that mixture into the pot of hot broth to complete cooking the rice. The rice comes out with a more full-bodied, almost nutty flavor that way. Always enjoyable to watch your videos, Becky!
I too have had trouble finding Petunia seeds however, I was able to find some at Lowes, I just emptied my greenstalk and am getting ready to turn it over for the first time ever too so watching how you did it was helpful
You definitely need a mandolin. It is so much easier to get your cabbage thin with a mandolin. You just have to realize that you can’t get too close to cut yourself.
Hey Becky...Harvest Right has a New thing!! You can upgrade your 4 tray to a 5 tray..pretty neat actually AND VERY EASY TO CHANGE..Check Park Seed..I get my trailing Petunias from there they have a TON of colors
Hi Becky, Donna here! Just an fyi, nasturtiums flower all the way until the first frost. So don’t give up, keep watering and fertilizing them and you’ll get more time with their beauty! Love your videos!
Glad to see your comment. I was a bit confused and wondered about this. My nasturtiums always last well into October. Wonder if it’s the green stalk that shortened their life so much🤔.
Hi becky! Im 14, and i absolutely love watching your videos! i watch them everyday after school. I learn so many new things each video!!
Go for it Amyiahmorales896!
Good! Good for you to want to learn how to grow something honey. To watch something grow, to live is a beautiful thing. And after you harvest it, it will nourish your life! Watch carefully, she shows you how to take care of it all.

LOVED LOVED LOVED the chaotic energy of all the daily activities, really felt like we were experiencing the day together ❤️
When you stuck that knife inside the food processor to cut those tomatoes I laughed out loud because that's absolutely something I would do to keep from having to empty it again.😂 Thank you for keeping it real!

I planted green beans, spinach, lettuce, carrots, beets, basil, cabbage, cauliflower, zucchini,q and crooked neck squash for my fall garden.
Wow! That's awsome! What a harvest you will have! Such good stuff! Yum.
You’ve given me inspiration!! It’s been too hot where I am to really plant much, but I want a garden so I’m going to try these😊
Hi Becky, I get my petunia seeds at Dollar Tree.they were so big and beautiful I couldn't believe it. 😊🌺
Becky, it’s fun to have you talk to us like you do. You make me laugh too. Thank you for sharing what you do!💯🫶🏻🌷💐🪴🌱🙌🏻😉 pretty sunflowers.

Yes I heard that!
In the Caribbean we season our rice while it has water. We add salt, onion, thyme / morjoram. A bit of butter as well or oil.

I love seeing you "just cook dinner"! It may be mundane to you but I promise it's inspirational to many of us.
We started with 4 nusturtium seeds and they took over our backyard. So you should have no problem with volunteers

You can also eat the flowers, good for your immunsystem. Greating from Germany

Thank you! :D :D
It’s such fun watching you. You are very expressive which sets the tone. Enjoy those tacos.🎉
I LOVE your channel, especially that you dont do ",sponsors "
The work you did today Becky will hopefully give you time to rest soon☺️ you’re doing great! That heat really takes it out of me too.
I can eat beef and broccoli over plain white rice, every day of life. I love the taste.
Girl, I sure love you absolute honesty! Those tomatoes!! I just enjoy spending time with you! You're a hoot! Have a great weekend! Love from SC!
Hey! I worked at Chipotle. Put some bay leaves in that rice as it cooks. Adds a ton!
Becky!! I love your real life kitchen and self!!!
Just an FYI, I keep a measuring spoon or capsize in all my containers for the average amount needed for most recipes.
Literally sat here since 8a hitting refresh on your page because its Acre Homestead day!!!!! woohoo!! Great job Becky! Thank you for sharing so much with us! I utilize your videos so much in my gardening!
I know you were tired this day but it made you seem even more real ❤
I do wash my rice, usually about 4 times, until the water is almost clear :) Thank you so much for doing these videos, I have learned so much from you. My mom wasn't much of a cook, so I only really learned that the smoke alarm doubled as an oven timer, lol
😁
I dont know if anyone has said this yet, but you can pickle nasturtium seeds to make "capers". I like to keep a jar in the fridge. they are great with fish!
Look at your petunia plants for seeds. They come from where the flowers were. When the bulbous thing dries it cracks open to expose the seeds. They are very very small black seeds. You might save your own.
I was about to say the same thing! Never mind nasturtiums she might be over run with petunias!😂 what a happy thing!!
Was going to suggest the same thing!
You are a machine. You motivated me to start my first small garden❤️ collards and kale have sprouted: Thank you
I love your garden and freezer meal ideas.
Hi Becky I am so happy today I went to water my garden and my green beans are coming out
Hi Becky, love your channel. You had me laughing. I could see you were tired and hungry but just chugging along to get everything done. I applaud your ability to multi task and get things done no matter what. Please take some time to slow down for yourself. You are amazing!❤❤ ❤❤❤❤
The new website is beautiful! Josh did a great job, it's so well organized and easy to navigate!
My go to meal is pasta in any form. I also love steak, baked potato, mushrooms and onions
Hi Becky!!!!
I was just watching the missed video of zucchini preservation .
Here comes another one .
❤ from Abudhabi!!
You are a true inspiration.
Hard working woman. Good job. 🧡
You are so consistent!! It's very encouraging.
I'm so glad you have your freezer meals again...love watching your videos❤
Merhaba Becky.videolarini izlemek çok güzel. Teşekkür ediyorum ❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Güzel günler 🌻🍀🌟🌷🍀
I’m in awe of you. Beautiful lady 🩷🩷🩷
Pumpkins are a doddle to grow from seed saved from even a shop bought pumpkin, so you should have no problems with your squash.
Hi Becky. Apparently, you can make capers with nasturtium seeds before they dry out.
Your new website is awesome. Easy to use and I love all the color. Great job Josh🌻
Living traditions homestead just did a demonstration on how to upgrade to 5 tray.
Park seed is where I get my wave petunia seeds as well
I just started some beets and chard and winter squash, and the seeds have already sprouted. I am almost finished with my greenhouse
Girl I love that your nails always look so good. I aspire for my homestead nails to look as good as yours! I ruin a manicure so fast out here though 😂
They always look so pretty, mine don’t even with gel.
First thing I noticed in the video were Becky's brightly colored nails! So pretty. The perfect way to display beautiful vegetables!
Pretty ❤
Hi Becky, Donna here! Just an fyi, nasturtiums flower all the way until the first frost. So don’t give up, keep watering and fertilizing them and you’ll get more time with their beauty! Love your videos!
Glad to see your comment. I was a bit confused and wondered about this. My nasturtiums always last well into October. Wonder if it’s the green stalk that shortened their life so much🤔.
