I always chop a hole in the back. My guess is none of the videos will show that because there could be a liability. Warning don't use a metal grinder. Hammer and chisel or air chisel.
I replaced a fuel pump in my 89 s10 pickup with a 2.5 liter engine. I replaced the fuel pump a AC DELCO FUEL PUMP. I took my time and made sure it was positioned right on the hanger assembly. The tank is brand new so it was easy to remove. I also replaced the fuel pump sock on the bottom of the fuel pump. Put it back together and it started right up. But the engine runs worse than before. This is the 4th fuel pump I have gone through. Isn't there a real fuel pump that you can purchase instead of the micky mouse fuel pumps that are being sold today. My truck hates fuel pumps.
I have a gas leak and its coming from 2 of the 3 gas lines at the top of gas tank a man that said he would fix it said he would get some kind of glue to fix it is this true is there some glue that can be used to fix gas leak?
hello i put in a new fuel pump but it makes humming noise is that normal even when i drive the car the noise is present and sometimes has a knocking sound to it ,,,,my old fuel pump assembly never made noise was always quiet also the new one i noticed i have to make more trips to gas station..any suggestions please is the fuel pump faulty or is it normal making noise
You forgot the most important part. How to get the darn o-ring and o-ring lock nut back on. Been trying for hours with no luck and your video didn’t help at all. Most mechanics can take ANYTHING apart.
A fuel pump you can reach without dropping the tank? Next you'll be showing me externally mounted fuel filters you can change in 5 minutes. What sorcery from the past is this?
that's bull.... the little pitiful tapping he did with that rubber mallet IS NOT GOING TO LOOSEN THE LOCK RING THAT HOLDS A FUEL PUMP IN... he's had that one out already... you can hit that thing with a sledge and it won't move.... there's a lock ring tool that fits in the notches of the lock ring... and be prepared to put a cheater bar on the ratchet... i'd use a pull handle... not a ratchet unless you want to tear the ratchet up... it takes a hell of a lot of force to get that lock ring broken... and most times you have to get it off without taking the tank out... in most cars it's under the back seat... and there's not a lot of room in the back to work with a hammer and cold chisel...
I do it with a hammer and screwdriver,no sparks yet.DON'T BUY AN AIRTEX FUEL PUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!biggest piece of junk that has a very high failure rate.AC Delco or Delphi for GMs only.Change the fuel filter at the same time, part of the warranty with the fuel pump.
Pb Blaster is a bad choice to use. The spray eats away the plastic. wd40 Specialist is better. A small flathead screw and rubber hammer could also work.
Good news! You can walk and carry your stuff. If you don't feel like walking, a friend of mine will give you all ten of his Rocky Mountain horses for free. With those, you won't have to depend on dangerous and damaging internal combustion engines (ICE) for transportation, power, or anything else. Just like the old days! Hew wood and carry water.
Thanks for showing how to get the retaining ring off. Even if it is not rusted they can still be REALLY tight.
Am I the only one that thinks these lock rings are a stupid design? What’s wrong with some bolts and a flange like my Toyota uses?
It's such an amazing experience, sir 👏👏
What an amazing video, sir💯👏👏
I got the lock ring off and the springs that push fuel pump lifted it off once removed. But the pump won't pull out. Is there a special way?
The video wasn't close up enough to see about the Loft a app so it really didn't help me that much
This video gives me an idea of where to start in removing the gas tank, and then the fuel pump. I will remember the tips as I go about removing mine.

Figures they'd feature a GM truck. What other rig blows through fuel pumps at a faster rate?
How did you attach those 3 tubes on the top of the FP Assembly to 3 outlets? Did you heat them, used certain pliers? Thank you.
