The Ceremony featured performances from such acts as Take That, Spice Girls, Queen and Jessie J.
Every two years, the world's finest athletes gather at the Olympic Games - a spectacular celebration of sporting excellence that captures the attention of billions of people around the world. However, the Games are about much more than just sport. They bring the Olympic values to life and provide a global arena for a unique combination of sport, culture, education and ceremonies.
At the Olympic Games in London 2012, about 10,500 athletes from 204 countries compete in 26 different sports, comprising 302 medal events. Whether athletes win a medal or not, they can forever call themselves Olympians. The sporting competitions are undoubtedly the central focus of the Olympic Games and participating in the Games is the ultimate goal for most athletes.
Every edition has its own story to tell and will be remembered for some truly remarkable performances from sporting legends such as Jesse Owens, Abebe Bikila, Jean-Claude Killy, Nadia Comaneci, Katarina Witt, Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt, to name just a few.

It's been tough in recent times about the world we live in and it's hard not to get emotional through this performance. It was great they did this at the Closing ceremony. Some people only come once in a lifetime. John Lennon, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury and so many others who contributed to music, film, art, literature and other areas, they'll never come again. Some of us are lucky enough to appreciate having lived in a time where these great people walked the Earth because they are irreplaceable. I mean, there might come a great songwriter in the future, but there can only be one John Lennon.

No matter how many years pass since John's death, the impact of losing such a brilliant mind and beautiful soul still stings as much now as it did then. I wish I could've had even five minutes to sit with John and talk. Hearing John's singing mixed in with modern covers always brings goosebumps to my skin because, although I know it's a simple dubbing of his recording over the singers, it's almost as if he's brought back to us for that tiny period of time. I don't like the Olymics, but I love John's work (just as I love Paul McCartney's, George Harrison's, and Ringo Starr's work). This really touched me, and I had to leave a short commemorative word for John.

Many little people are up to it too. It’s still the most inclusive Olympics which is a shame considering we’ve had several games that have followed that haven’t been up to par. It featured war, the industrial revolution, the NHS, Literary heritage, music/culture, something that other countries failed to do.
