I'm Lebanese... I'm not fluent in English. But i'm so obsessed with this guy that i pause the video on every word that i don't understand, google the word, look up the definition in english with the translation in arabic, then go back in the video to the beginning of the sentence, and listen to the sentence again, then go back to the beginning of the idea, and listen to the full idea again so i can really understand it... and every lecture is taking me nearly 6 hours to watch but it's worthy. And at the same time i'm practicing the language. This man is helping me so much in my daily life... I've improved so much since i've been listening to JP.
Sono italiano. Im decently fluent in english, ma i have too look up some of his words too. I wish Roma would rise again and produce men like this. Cant believe this guy is CANADIAN!!!!!!
I studied Philosophy and Religion at Yale and Columbia. I have been teaching at the university level for over a decade. And I am a lifelong Christian. Yet I think I have learned more about Philosophy and Religion from JBP’s lectures than from all of those other experiences..... Thank you, professor ❤️ 🦞
jhl365 who was it that crucified Jesus? Was it not those who were in the temples? Hope you aren’t one of those “holier than thou” kinda people, I mean the Bible it’s self says to walk in the path, preachers preach it’s more than hearing the word, it’s living the word.. there’s a big line between having prestigious college degrees in Christianity and being a Christian.. hell, it’s hard to even meet a true Christian in church now days.. the Holy Spirit became the word, we have a light in our conscious we can choose to follow and it’s there if you so choose to truly seek it. There is a reoccurring theme in the Bible, that those chosen by god are not the leaders of the pack, the ones in charge. And outright claim the meek will inherit, and become strong. Wide is the gate, and broad is the road to destruction.. but small is the gate and narrow is the road to life that only few will find.. a light at the end of a tunnel.. a hope.. just like the torches of the olympics, as too is the torch of faith carried to light the world, as a lamp is put on a stand for all to see.
If you think churches are just full of sinners and that they have no place to judge you, well first off you’re right. But the latter is probably just paranoia and fear of others knowing you’re imperfect.. part of our social structure.. but if church was the place for holy people to gather than there would be no purpose in church or congregation and preaching. Literally it’s a place for sinners to go

Dr. Peterson's ability to stay on topic while going on wonderful branches of monologues is truly incredible. Words don't do this man justice in regards to his in-depth knowledge in the topics he covers.
Yes, and particularly in today's lecture where he clearly seems EXHAUSTED-most likely from the finishing of his newest book just the day prior. Dude, if I simply don't get my afternoon nap, I sound like I'm having a stroke. 🙃
I think he has done a tremendous amount of reading and contemplation on what he has read. He speaks with intention and understands the power of words, so he picks his words carefully. He is also honest and upfront that he doesn't fully understand the subject. All of these things make him amazingly insightful while also humble and relatible.
@@RMT192 12 Rules for Life is aimed at self-help. If your were expecting a more academic approach to the same ideas, you should interest yourself in his first book, the one that took him 30 years to write - Maps of Meaning. That is essentially a textbook to his work. It is the basis for his longest-lasting university course by the same name, and it outlines the technical methods by which he goes about these lectures. I'm sorry to hear that you did not get what you expected from 12 Rules for Life.
It’s almost impossible to dislike someone who thinks this much, and moreover is willing to articulate it as he’s going, keep it roughly on topic all the while not being overbearing or pretentious. One of my favourite human beings. Stay curious everyone
@@williamgraham9142 thats what opinion means. My 3rd yr highschool teacher in chemistry says, there's no 100%, and shes talking about elements purity.. I cant accept it ay first.. but it seems that it applies to everything
@@charliecampbell197 in my conclusion about how peterson lectures, he always make his statements as clear as possible, it looks like you're saying that peterson makes a solid argument and then dismantles it. Like 50%positve and 50% Negative.. I always hear him like, 80% this seems to be the case but 20% of people doesn't voluntarily follow this idea and their life seems to be undisturbed.
@@charliecampbell197 for me this style is refreshing. He doesn’t claim to know everything, because he doesn’t. But my original point was that he’s clearly thought about it a lot, and can lay it out in an engaging manner, not overbearing and stubborn in his opinion but rather fluid and ever changing.
In another lecture he quotes Dante who put treachery in the bowels of hell, among the worst of transgressions- possibly this is because the treacherous want to play God by playing on people's trust, on this power invested in them - they become puffed up and want to act God for a second, it's a transgression in every way you can look at it..
Dear Dr. Peterson, Your lectures have really helped me dig myself out of a dark place. My father commited suicide a few years when I was 16 and I have been dealing with it for 3 years. You really gave me insight in how to better myself and sort all of this out. I may have waited a long time to sort myself out but I now finally have a strong stance on what I need to do to save myself from hell and total destruction.
I tell my kids: you have a father, a better father than me: a father in heaven. Keep close to Him at all times, and He will guide and teach you, love you and lead you.
I hate to sound like a stoner here, but 10 or so years ago (at 21 about) I tried psilocybin mushrooms, and the experience made me feel very childlike in the world was brand new, exciting and full with joy. We tried them in the forest and it was so exciting and exploratory. I can’t begin to describe it!! It felt like I was 5 years old again and seeing things for the first time. I can see why they are saying there is way more research that needs to be done with these. Life changing!! As Peterson says it was one of the most memorable moments of my life. It definitely was. Anyway, I think it’s a transforming experience that reminds me of your quote. Helps you fulfill the quote. Creativity can do this also, with something you truly enjoy or a hobby.
The gospel is the GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM! Repent and believe the gospel! Follow Jesus’ teachings! Jesus is going to return and set up the kingdom of God ON THE EARTH! God’s government ON THE EARTH! cannibalism, like the god cronos of ancient Greece who was eating his children and had his genitals ripped of (metaphorically not use his offspring for food like the cannibals of the ice age) by Zeus, the same story is depicted by Adam and Eve who ate the forbidden fruit "their children"...
I’ve been studying theology and the Bible for 4 years and in have read endless commentaries from several centuries of theologians all the way back to the original Fathers and yet I am blown away by some of the things Jordan points out. Just absolutely mind blown
What's great about these lectures is that it is one place on UA-cam where Christians and atheists don't have flame wars in the comments. It's a beautiful thing!
From the beginning, the Lord was committed to allowing mankind to choose between the real and the false, the good and the evil. That is why He put the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden along with the Tree of Life. He did not put the Tree of Knowledge there in order to cause us to stumble, but rather so that we could prove our obedience and love for Him. There can be no true obedience from the heart unless there is the freedom to disobey. Joyner, Rick. The Vision
I think that's because when it comes to Peterson, the "literal" view is never discussed. The main fight between the devout and the atheist generally always get attributed to literal interpretations. Peterson has very carefully dodged (refused to answer) questions regarding his "literal" opinions of religion, for example, "Do you believe in god?" or "Do you think god is real?" etc. He does this because he is in the end, agnostic (total absence of the ability to answer objectively), and for good reason, as every scientist should be agnostic. There is far more depth to religion than silly "literal" interpretations, this is something Peterson has taught me.
This stuff is absolutely fascinating. I'm binge watching this series like its netflix, except with a pen and paper to take notes. I went to a religious school and devoured all the edgy athiest material by Dawkins, Hitchens and Harris when I was 16 or so, and I felt a deep urge to understand these complex problems of life. Nearly a decade later and I'm watching this lectures on the Bible with the same sense of urgency. For me Peterson is really the most keen intellect I've had the pleasure of witnessing since Hitchens. It's almost eerie how his words seem true, not because they necessarily always adhere to logic or reason, but even when speaking metaphorically, they resonate profoundly with what I can only describe as natural law, some very deep level of comprehension.
@mary sunshine This speaks more about your level of focus more so than his commentary. I suggest you go clean your room until you can stay focus enough for someone who deviates from their main talking point a bit to come back to it. Let alone watch a whole 3 hour video till the end.
As someone soaked in christian mythology since birth this interpretation is a reconciliation between all the questions I needed to ask and my facination for the Mysteries. The last 10 years have been a constant search for truth since the world view of my childhood cracked open under the pressure of the rational mind that has defined recent history. Swimming through the sea of post modern relativity I saw many latch onto one life boat or another. I even rode along sometimes, never feeling quite at home, always thirsty. There was magic, myth and tragedy floating in the periphery and I long to string them all together to see the web of my life; the stories, the ancestry, the lineage, my place in it, the whole damn spiral. That's what you invoke for me, Dr. Peterson. God Bless ya Bucko
Julia Nelson Do you write for a living? If not, you should lol. Even reading this comment, your writing style is incredible! Hope you find what you’re looking for w/ Jesus and such :]
I think more people should take a second and think about what they’re saying and think about what they’re saying to check if it still makes sense haha, guilty of that too! But yea, must he a incredible mind that man has.
While what he's thinking is probably more profound than the process, it's not as though he think 10x better than you or I. It's more like he knows what to think about a lot better than us mortals, which is a byproduct of his intimate experience with the given topic. Knowing what to think about in any given topic allows one to cut down a lot of the unnecessary thoughts by magnitudes.
George Windler yea of course, you’re basically saying he is more knowledgeable and has more focus on the topic at hand, but “us mortals”? He is no mortal?!🤣
"You know you're vulnerable. No other animal knows that. You know what hurts you, because you're vulnerable. And now that you know what hurts you, you can figure out what hurts someone else. And as soon as you know what hurts someone else, and you can use that, you have the knowledge of Good and Evil ... As soon as a human being is self conscious, and aware of his own nakedness, then he has the capacity for Evil." 2:12:28
What an incredible mind JP has. I wish I could download all this info direct into my head. I’m a Christian who is constantly frustrated by how much science bashing happens in church. I just love how this fits the 2 back together in such intellectual ways. Awesome stuff.

It's almost a meme, sort of like Russell Peter's "Somebody 'roun' here gonna get hurt...". Jordan's reference is apparently an allusion to one of his father's favourite phrases (similar to Russel's gag!) while he was growing up. He uses it almost metphorically to refence a starting point for improving oneself.
he frequently makes the point to his students that before you try to fix the world they need to fix themselves, often by cleaning up their room first. It's just a convenient, healthy impulse to produce order in even a small way.
I love when dr jbp is so focused and serious in his lecture and out of nowhere he makes a funny comment and laughs with his audience. It really melts my heart. Makes me go from 🧐🤔 to 🥰😄
At around the 29:00 mark, when Dr. Peterson mentions the idea of regaining something you have lost in childhood as a return to the Beginning, that same idea is clearly said by Jesus in Matthew 18:3: “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” There’s something so profound in that and it just clicked even more in this video.
Have described myself as a Jungian Mystic for decades. Spent decades trying to figure out the experience of the numinous in the face of the wickedness and stupidity of religion - while simultaneously knowing that there was "something" about the order of religion . . . . Been looking for this guy pretty much all my life (at least 40 years since young adulthood). So, kids, "when the student is ready the teacher will appear" may take some time. Lucky you, here he is, now. Grab on.
been watching ben shapiro for his mere epic comebacks, and almost all of his viewers recommend Dr. Peterson. so aloof to try peterson. now his almost my daily dose.
This is simply incredible. I have never understood the Bible in this manner and I am totally blown away by what I am learning through this series. I think I have learnt more in the past 10 hours of lectures than I have in 50 years of attending church!
"I just finished my new book. I don't know if it's any good but it's the best I can make it." BOI it's about to be fire, don't be so humble Can't wait for your mixtape
Yeah, like everyone else, I'm so overwhelmed by the revelations in these lectures, and so amazed by this man's mind like everyone else... I just want to leave a comment so YT algorithm shows me more vids like these and also funnels more funds to Dr. Peterson's great mind and work.
I love listening to Jordan Peterson lectures so much, and I've learned so much from him. I'm a female and I feel in the minority of people listening to his lectures but I don't care. People of both sexes can learn a lot from this man!
I think a lot more ladies listen than Dr. Peterson gives credit. We need the demand to responsibility too, especially because so many of us wait so long to have kids now. Cheers from another chick listener. Plus hanging out with the guys is way more fun, right?
Huge amount of respect to this guy. He’s terrific with subject and elocution. He spoke nonstop with out panting and exhaustion. What he spoke makes complete sense and he’s put rational light on many biblical not understandable topics.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
It just struck me. Being able to say "I don't know" is such a rare trait. And it's usually the smart people that have it. When I see this rare trait in people my respect for them grows greatly and I start to trust them even more.
Mark H McCormack (author, What they don't teach you at Harvard Business School) imparted this advice a long time ago: The three most powerful things to learn to say are - I don't know I was wrong I need help I have found this to be excellent advice throughout my life.
Many of the greatest scientists in history have said they are perpetually in a state of not knowing and it drives them to discover. Famous stoic quote: “How can I learn what I think I already know”.
I woke up at 4am to this lecture and couldn't fall back to sleep. He blew my mind and I was riveted, sitting up at the end of my bed, with tears in my eyes. Unbelievable! I've listened to the Maps of Meanings lectures and loved them. However, growing up Christian and leaving that behind, I really didn't think there could be any more to learn. How I have been humbled and feel disgusted, the problem was never the Bible, it was me, I lacked the eyes to see and ears to hear! Thank you Jordan Peterson!
The knowledge Jordan Peterson has been dishing out up until this point has answered questions I've been asking for as long as I can possibly remember. I've been raised in the church by really staunch Christian parents and in 2020, I started trying to find out why it is that I believe in the things I believe in and how do I know that my belief system is functional and sufficient. Because I thought to myself, I need a firm foundation on which to base my worldview because I need to live and thrive in the world, but even more so I want to know that when I get kids, I can teach them how to best live and thrive in this world. And questioning the fundamentals of my beliefs and trying to wrap my head around the human experience fuelled a massive existential crisis. But this man, right here, is teaching the kind of things I need to know to put my life in order. And I really deeply appreciate him for doing all this thinking and for making his lectures public.
You give me an Awakening, understanding, I'm absolutely astounded during and after every time I hear you speak! It's like you give me the desire to be better, a better person, more educated, more informed, helping me find the strength in my struggle toward facing my truth.
"We as humans have figured out that knowing where food is, is more important than having the food. Knowing where the food is, is a form of metafood"..... I cried.
Cut that supply and suddenly 300 million people in one country alone soon won’t have a way to eat. A daily necessity, turned to an industrial abundance and profitable business. Cut the head off that snake, what will the body of 300 million Americans do? How many people even know how to grow tomatoes? Let alone hunt an animal and clean it.. few would make it.. the rest would be on an ironically large portion of the short end of the stick.
And as a result our brains had to develop to comprehend what we see and as a manifestation of that development we became self conscious. So even evolutionarily the snake woke us up. Like. Seriously that blew me away too.
Understanding metaphors and figures of speech is very important…what is in fruit? Seed = fertility and Snake = is a form a degradation. Like the saying He’s lower than a snake meaning Satan. I have learned a lot by using the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance to understand the original meanings in the Hebrew and Greek. I seen JBP in NC and yes I love his brain and sense of humor. Take care
The logic and beauty of his interpretations have made some ephemeral ideas concrete in a way that has brought this 45 yr old carpenter to tears too many times to count . Hopefully this mind blowing gentleman keeps his incredible intellect and health in too shape so we can continue to be informed and changed in the crucible of ideas !! Bless you JP
Thank you Sir. For everytime I'm feeling low in the last two years I turn to you. To tell me what my god and his followers have said. You explain it exquisitely and it helps relieve some anxiety and realise the universe and my life is so much bigger then my small random problems. After listening to you they don't seem so big or significant. So for that I thank you.
My lord, this one lecture has so much packed into it - Adam & Eve, the holy mother, how the man turned out to be a snitch, the importance of marriage and why there is no better way. This is amazing. Dr. Peterson explains it as it is in a way every one can understand. Amazing lecture.
Exactly. If I really wanted to be in the mix with my cuzzo like that HE knows I could’ve been hit him up like that. Sometimes you just gotta let people be the man and not be in the way.
Probably because he gives hope. Hope that nothing and no one is useless, that there is a higher order and that life is not meaningless. An antidote to nihilism, I suppose. You dont feel alone anymore

I am a 61 year old woman living in Kleinbrak, Mossel Bay in Western Cape in South Africa. I am an avid follower of Dr Peterson for about 2 years now and I hang onto every word. He is a modern day prophet and has helped me understand the Bible. Dr P, you are required in Africa. Desperately. Thank you and God bless you.
Dr. Peterson has been a life changer for me. I am now in the process of escaping the underworld and i am so grateful for the lectures the doc posts really.
Thank you, Jordan Peterson. I've listened to you consistently for the past year, and i'd be a much different person had I not. I absolutely appreciate your videos.
Don't know why but the conclusion of Dr. Peterson's dream produced a tear in my eye. Such a simple statement but for some reason very powerful. "Because I knew you could win".
Dear Dr. Peterson, there was this question at the end, where the intertwined snakes get associated with DNA. I don't think that one should take that leap in quite that fashion. Let me suggest a much better path of interpretation how double-helixes are so important. The double helix is a recurring pattern in nature. It represents a stable state for two strands that are under an unstable tension. Think of making a rope. If you twist a strand it is in an unstable state. One way to ease the tension is to let in unravel and disperse into fibers again. The second way is to take a second strand under the same tension and twirl it up as a double helix. And suddenly you have a rather strong rope. The same can be seen in nature in a variety of places, for example in vines. If you take that picture, the double helix is a symbol of a new stability out of two unstable parts. And strength of the unity, for example in a rope, exceeds the strenth of the parts by far. You can apply this to relationships with far more ease and it makes a much better metaphore. I think this is a far more sophisticated origin story than speculating about early humans dreaming up DNA. Although the double helix of the DNA follows the same prinicple of falling into a stable low-energy state, this is only a sign of the recurrence of this pattern.
Great talks, great man and wonderful lectures. Every night before bed I go all Peterson for an hour and feel complete satisfaction of this mans "wisdom". Wish you all the good doctor. Keep bringing these words of wisdom to the world
Well there goes my sleep! We are suffering here in Europe because of your workaholism, Dr. Peterson. I wonder how much faster I'd clean my room tomorrow if you commented on my comment. Would I clean it and then dive to the depths of my soul to save my father and transform from a puppet to a man (or woman that I am)? Who knows? You are the man, sir. 😀😉
Leeloo Dallas Technically, you could listen to them in your sleep. Your "Concious" mind is nothing more than part of the input system. Your subconscious processes information faster at rest, but it still processes while we are awake. What if the processes of our subconciousness and what we call our consciousness which I think is more aptly characterized as our major input collector when working together makes up consciousness.
What he's talking about around 1:10:00 about something not being real until you name it resonates very well with my own experiences. My brother has had a neurological condition since he was about 7 years old that impacted his ability to walk, and neurologists had no idea what it was. He voluntarily underwent extreme tortures and experiments, genetic testing, surgeries, and wore prosthetics, just trying to narrow down the possibilities trying to find a NAME for it, because even if they told him he had ALS or something fatal, knowing the boundaries and properties of it would be less terrifying than this unknown affliction that was crippling him. He was anxious, neurotic, bitter, and paranoid, and was becoming less able to even take care of himself, as the mystery illness was consuming him. For 20 years he had nothing to grapple with, and was losing his mobility and mental health year by year. When he was wheelchair bound, by random happenstance, he mentions to a fairly young and newly certified neurologist that he can only really move around first thing in the morning. This young neurologist, not set in his ways by years of experience, had the thought to try supplementing him with dopamine as if he was a Parkinson's patient, and lo and behold, he rose up out of the chair like a miracle and he could walk again. A couple more tests, and he had a name for his condition - which wasn't Parkinson's; It was something incredibly rare that only affects about 500 people in the entire world. His anxiety and paranoia went away, and with the help of the medication he became radically fit (like, marathon runner fit). Once you have a name for something, you can do something about it.
I just had a very close person to me pass away... I hadn't listened to that episode yet, so I put it on. Jordan Peterson really helps lay the framework in order to cope with the tragedies of life... Thank you...
I originally played these to fall asleep to, until I found myself lying awake for hours at a time, finally falling asleep, then getting up in the morning , going to work, and thinking I can’t wait to get home and listen to the next one… and the next… definitely some of the best listening out right now, to date!!!
Superb. Just so impressive the way Dr Peterson can talk for nearly two and a half hours with almost no prompts, other than the words from Genesis itself. I'm hoping to work my way through these lectures from 2017 and others he's done like them. Dr Peterson is a bright star in the firmament, a force for good in the world and I hope it continues for as long as possible. He's having a positive effect on very large numbers of people and we really do appreciate it and understand how hard he works to achieve this.
I feel like if that’s what you got from it you weren’t paying that close attention…it’s the words of humanity trying to figure itself out, at least that’s what I got.
2:28:46 It’s funny he had a vision like this. I had a similar experience when I was younger. I grew up going to Bible camp (and occasionally church on Sundays when my grandma dragged me). Growing up in church religion as kind of a chore for me and I remember always being very frightened of God. When I was 13 or so I had a dream I was at this Bible camp and I was it this situation where I needed to fight other people to the death. And on this dream I was hurting other people. Crushing them to bits. Beating them to death. And it felt sickening. I remember feeling pure terror. This “it’s me or them” feeling. I hate violence and it terrified and disgusted me to hurt people but I had to do it or else I’d be hurt. So in this dream I was hurting person after person. And at one point I finished and looked up and in a chair in front of me was my pastor with an opened Bible in his hand. And he was looking up at me with this serious expression on his face. Then the dream ended. This dream bothered me for weeks. The terror I felt while I was hurting people in the dream. When I was much younger my sadistic older brother used to make my sister and I fight eachother. So I knew the feeling of hurting an innocent person out of fear (and someone I loved) and I hated it. This dream brought back a very similar feeling. But what bothered me most about the dream was the end was the pastor at the end. It was such an odd image. Why was he there? Why was he holding a Bible? I remember I was in the car thinking about this and just thought aloud in my head “God, what does this mean.” And immediately I heard in my head “Ephesians 6:12.” Now you may doubt me when I say this but I was NOT a regular Bible reader. I took out my Bible once a summer for camp and then it went in a box or under my bed. This verse was NOT something I had consciously memorized. So when I heard “Ephesians 6:12” i keep repeating it to myself over and over again and when I got home I dug out my Bible and opened it up to Ephesians 6:12 and immediately got chills. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against the spiritual wickedness in high places” I’m 26 now and I’m still trying to sort out the meaning of why I had this dream and why I was meant to have it. But I will never forget it.
Cool. Thanks for sharing. Really I remembered my own dreams. And also thanks for mentioning the verse. Had similar dreams. When I overcame desire to watch pon and mastb, a dream came where a large muscular red person became weak and ran off my home as I was saying Jesus. That dream wonderes me still. For it was an unseen enemy captivated me to those lusts. Thanks a lot. Praise God.
Great share!! Dreams come to our conscious mind so that we can make a move to resolving a trauma, your prayer to God not only gained you the answer, but verified that there is a Father who cares for you!, and can give you the power over the fears traumas doubts etc. He promised this in John, and yes, the Lord Jesus is the Lord of heaven and earth; he is eternally the Father. God became flesh and dwelt among us: John chapter 1, and 1John chapter 1. Read and be whole, Pray and be answered, Ask and it shall be given to you. He is near. Blessings to you, friend!

Dear Dr Peterson, I am a Muslim and I am loving the study of the Genesis through your lectures and I intend to listen to all! It’s adding knowledge to the study of Quran!
The story of Adam and Eve is related to the story of Job wherein Lucifer - Serpent plays an essential part. For in the book of Job, Lucifer - who is generally condemned by the uneducated as "pure evil" - is clearly shown to be a servant of God, working on His behalf in the temptation and development of Job. Somehow you can state that the archetype lucifer is the psychological element that helps the human psyche to grow to understand the morality of Good and Evil. For instance, Imagine you have suddenly the power of creation. Imagine if your spoken words become instant reality, but you don't have any moral maturity, the outcome will hell on earth. Not because most people want to create hell on earth, but if you don't understand the fundamental nature and fabric of existence you probably do more harm than good in the world. If we read the story of Adam and Eve we see that Eve was tempted (temptations) by the serpent (Lucifer, which can be also the Angel Samael, that is the same archetype as in the story of Job) to eat of the Tree of knowledge of good and evil. What is remarkable and important to understand is that she was tempted to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. See, here is the interesting part because eating of the tree of good and evil situates that there is a plane of consciousness that we weren't conscious of and by eating of the tree our eyes were opened. See, the ironic thing is that all the mistakes we make in life are mostly because we can't restraint our psychological, emotional and physical sensations. We are always seeking for the next temptation (temped) to indulge in pleasure and ironically most of the times we regret that we gave in to something that we shouldn't do in the first place. Why I want to state this is because it shows the archetypical role of Lucifer - the tempter of good and evil. See, without difficulties and hurdles in life, we won't develop intellectually, emotionally and physically. Life consists of difficulties and temptations for the sole purpose to overcome them and learn from them. Honestly, I think we as humans degenerated because we are constantly indulging in pleasure-seeking temptations and that can be intellectual, emotional or physical, so we are constantly consuming of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. If we are sincere and truthfully most of us don't want to hear the truth because the truth isn't something pleasant and wish-fulfilling. The truth can be very harsh on people and it demands a psychological change of who you are by annihilating certain patterns, which can be thought, emotions or other voluntary actions. People don't want to give up their pleasures (their temptations) and therefore they are ashamed and when God calls them they hide. It is, in my opinion, the sad truth that I see in the world nowadays, just look around, we are being tempted to indulge in pleasures all the time, from food to pornography, the whole spectrum. So Lucifer is presenting you all the time the worldly pleasures and what do we do? We indulge in them because we are not cognizant of the significant role that archetypes play in our human psyche. Most people aren't even cognizant of that fact of manner and will regard this as nonsense and for them ignorance is bliss. But for those who are genuine about the path of understanding, I recommend that you learn more about the ancient religions and their purpose. Every great civilization has its scriptures and by genuine research, you will come to understanding what it means to become human, because were are still animals from a Darwinian perspective, but we have the capacity to become God-like and participate as cosmo creators. Metaphorically speaking we are Sagittarius, half animal, and half human. Here we have a choice, either proceed in our animal nature (sleeping beauty) or transcend into human nature (fully developed conscious being). We can create heaven on earth by fundamentally understanding the universal truth of responsibility. If you take your responsibility you aim to become a representation of the Light. The day you overcome Lucifer is the day that you will access the tree of life which that is presented throughout all history, the fall of mankind is the realization of individuality wherein we have the free choice to choose Unity and become Christified as the representatives of the light. I just wanted to share this. Thank you for reading it. Btw, Jordan Peterson, your intellectual and humble nature makes you such a beautiful example and influencer.
Moller Toma was looking for a great comment and found one thanks for The information. I recently found a weird but great video dissecting the Bible here you go... watch it all the beginning is weird but I like to hear a person's point of view and form my own conclusions ua-cam.com/video/lrYd95CsReU/v-deo.html
@@justins2437 I want to add to the original poster's observation of learning and compulsion. Of regret and shame of discovery.. you see, godliness is not the victory of the will over self indulgence. That is purely repressive reaction and not control. It is the opposite. YOU are being directed to each trial and you are either going to get stretched so thin that all desire must ultimately die, or you close yourself off to any and every influence, and become nothing. But Christ is not Buddha. He does not diminish. The eyes that follow Him do not end as narrow slits, but are wide and open. Each god chooses their emotional energy they feed on, and most men serve only as the grapes that are squeezed. Do not be a slave to these insatiable worms, who, blindly, lick up their sustenance from whatever height or boot. 'Ye are gods' because you can overcome these base desires, and not because you wish to be forever pining for or to be consumed by them. Heavenly virtues are not like natural pleasures, which always become vice in inordinate measure. The treasures of heaven forever climb and expand. They INCREASE by degree, and not by their frequency, but by the purity of their constitution in the conditions of their manifestation. Aim to discover those things, and not what spoils both the soul and the flesh.
It's quite an insight to see how the stories of the Bible progresses from the old testament salvation found in state (from the law, to the judges, then kings, then prophets) to the new testament salvation through the individual psyche. The implications and ramifications of this interpretation is mind blowing or even game changing to say the least, as it creates, at the very least, a more intellectually acceptable rationale for following in Jesus's example. Growing up with a strict Methodist family, on an extremely Christian country, I grew up to question the dogmas of my religion at an early age. I think I even went to a nihilistic phase at some point. But I never was quite sold on all the arguments against Christianity either. I've had an idea in my head as to why, but I could never had articulated it in such a powerful way as Professor Jordan B. Peterson did here, so thank you very much for that, man, first and foremost. More importantly, can anyone of us buckoneers in here imagine a world in which the way Christianity is taught in this way? Where we move past the fundamentalist rhetoric? Where, maybe the Bible can't be added to anyway, but at least that those stories are taught and shared at this level of abstraction; where we let go of judgment of all other religion and the argument of whether this is the ONLY TRUE RELIGION (path)? Where each Christian is actually empowered to their full potential (God empowered) instead of merely being God dependents, or just developing for the sake of the church, or gaining salvation simply through grace alone without any sense of responsibility... What would our current world be like once we render the weapons that murdered God at the turn of the industrial revolution finally powerless and revivify our relationship with the collective wisdom that has survived for tens of thousands of year?
You articulated the words that I couldn’t. When I first found JP’s lectures on the bible, it blew me away. Answered a lot of questions that I have had since childhood and gave me a roadmap to walk with God forth rightly.
"I finished my book last night. I don't know if it's any good, but it's as good as I can make it anyway." _Five million copies later..._ It's actually quite unbelieveble to think about. His first book has sold more copies then there are people who are subscribed to his UA-cam channel

I don't believe in God, but these lectures have given me a lot more respect for Christianity. It's exactly the kind of approach that would convince me. I'm deeply interested in evolutionary biology. We need to transition into a new era where we understand these stories and what they mean in this scientific way. It's thousands of years of accumulated knowledge of how to live and organize society. Told through stories and metaphors. The question is whether people are convinced to behave morally without the literal belief in God, heaven and hell, the carrot and the stick if you will. If we can convince people that heaven and hell are right here on earth depending on how they live their life then I think it would work for many. But there are some who need an external threatening force to stop them from behaving immorally. Good old ostracization and punishment by law should work with these kinds of people, as long as the majority is virtuous.
What a wonderful and amazing time to live in! To be able to have the honor and privilege to sit and hear such an amazing speaker as Jordan Peterson at the touch of a button, and it's free. A thousand thank yous for this upload.
So many people have turned away from God because they think the Bible is a book of too many rules and not a deeper meaning of life and choices that we make. Like many people, I wish that pastors would teach in this way that Dr. Peterson is teaching, but we can't change anything in churches unless we go to them.
Sea I just don't think any religion has it right with regards to a god or god and an afterlife. I'm not saying I know either, I am just open to the idea of there being both (Agnostic). For example I think its ridiculous that someone burn in hell for all eternity because they may have killed someone. Thats not to say killing is okay, but some kill because they are not balanced in their head. Some are just mentally not their, and if in turn are a product of the Christian god, then is it not gods fault for that flaw? Also how can the people related to the killer be in a heaven without that one loved person. If heaven is a state where all desires are met, but you cannot see your son or daughter because they killed -- is that really a heaven?
The Bible should be a personal journey but it is often a weapon that weak people use. It's a book of morals and boundaries of what is right and wrong for you to interpret for your own life. The people in the Bible are you and me, they make mistakes and can be forgiven of them. Choices that people make is not God's fault and hell can be here on Earth as well. The important thing is to remember is that your last dying breath can be one of asking God for forgiveness, allowing your failures to be judged and humbly take responsibility for them. I don't see heaven as getting everything that you want, I see it more of as having full knowledge. But my interpretation of heaven is from my own personal journey into Christianity. Btw, I find it paralyzingly hard to go to church, but if we (the ones that question churches) were to go, it could be a cool place for us to openly talk with like minds.
Sea Small groups would actually be better because churches invite too many people at once that it can be like being part of a mob. A small group of ten to twelve people on the other hand is one that can gather in many environments a bar, a restaurant, a home, the local park, etc. They are much more casual and naturally have the atmosphere you want for any kind of discussion. From my own experience the best part of being part of a church wasn't going to hear the preacher it was the dinners and picnics and being invited to people's homes and listening to the adults talk around the table when I didn't feel like hanging out with kids my age. That's what you want.
Agreed, with small groups we have a voice, but with large groups we are part of a collective or mob which leaves us vulnerable to the most vocal people and not necessarily the smartest.
Krait I understand your thinking, it makes logical sense, however the Heaven/Hell according to the Bible is very different from how you’ve described it. Moses killed a man, but we see him rescuing “God’s people”, and he surely went to heaven and found favor with God. This was Old Testament. After Jesus died, salvation through receiving Him, Jesus, became the way to Heaven more practically. Belief in Jesus would invoke repentance (more accurately, “turning” - away from “sin” lifestyle and toward God’s will), and in doing so God wipes away your sin, as Jesus paid the price that you owed on the cross and overcame sin, death, Hell, and the grave. Therefore believing and repenting (it’s a continual subconscious process, a perspective to live by if you will) will free you from the punishment of your sin (hell) and through Jesus, who interceded in your behalf, you are renewed and made righteous in the eyes of God, as if when he looks at you he sees a holy, perfect child, forgiving all of your screw ups and wrongs, and welcoming you with open arms, just like the Parable of the Prodigal Son. God sees believers through the lens, the perspective, of his son Jesus. Now we no longer pay for our own sin through Heaven/Hell, but Christians rejoice because Jesus paid for it in our place, which causes us to find freedom and love “in God” and therefore, that same grace, joy, peace, patience, kindness, etc. flows from out of our hearts to people. Because he Loved and loves us unconditionally, we should then love people without any partiality as well. Christianity, the gospel, is simply that Jesus paid the price for our sin nature that descended through Adam, and we can believe and be saved for eternity. We can receive his “Holy Spirit” (in Greek - breath), and be portions of the abstract “body of Christ” so that we are now Christ all over the world, bringing the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth. :]

2:27:00 I recommend that people who are interested in this question read Paradise Lost. Miltons God and Son in that poem are obsessed with bringing the opposites out of things. Order from chaos, light from darkness, and good from evil. There also this idea that these opposites are even greater in magnitude then there original origins. This quote is from Book 12 after Adams witnesses the unfolding of history after the fall. "O goodness infinite, goodness immense! That all this good of evil shall produce, And evil turn to good; more wonderful Then that which by creation first brought forth Light out of darkness!"
Interesting. Could you tell me a little more what you mean and also this quote you posted? Thank you. I've never read Paradise Lost, but from what I've heard it's an extremely difficult read.

Do you believe that?
jhl365 who was it that crucified Jesus?
You are a very honest, balanced human being ... as I see you by the tenure of your remarks. Well done.

He also has a very high IQ
I think he has done a tremendous amount of reading and contemplation on what he has read. He speaks with intention and understands the power of words, so he picks his words carefully.

Very well put. I can relate with what you said on a personal level!
I agree, you have a nice writing style.
My fav moments when JP speaks are when he goes silent to think... Can only imagine how that mind is computing ideas at those times.
Eh more likely than not he is recalling texts more so than creating any ideas himself, not to discredit the man, he is very intelligent and perceptive
What makes more sense is he's taking his initial reaction to its logical end to ensure he is making a valid and coherent response.
I used to mock the Bible...

Tidied my room in the afternoon, new Jordan Peterson lecture in the evening. Good day all round!
What is this about people cleaning up their rooms, and Jordan Peterson?
He talks about it a lot, it's gonna be part of his upcoming book "12 rules for life: an antidote to chaos" too.
It's just a convenient, healthy impulse to produce order in even a small way.
hmm Jesus loves you too !
I love when dr jbp is so focused and serious in his lecture and out of nowhere he makes a funny comment and laughs with his audience. It really melts my heart. Makes me go from 🧐🤔 to 🥰😄

At around the 29:00 mark, when Dr. Peterson mentions the idea of regaining something you have lost in childhood as a return to the Beginning, that same idea is clearly said by Jesus in Matthew 18:3:
“Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
There’s something so profound in that and it just clicked even more in this video.
This was profound to me also
Dr. Peterson. When my phone notifies me of a new video from u, it feels like getting an awsome present.

Canizares Trelles, You are getting an awesome present.
Mr Peterson is breathing wisdom to us. God bless your heart! ♥️🙏🏼

Yeah, like everyone else, I'm so overwhelmed by the revelations in these lectures, and so amazed by this man's mind like everyone else... I just want to leave a comment so YT algorithm shows me more vids like these and also funnels more funds to Dr. Peterson's great mind and work.
whenever JP is asked controversial questions, he always dances gracefully on a very thin rope and makes it to the other side unscathed.
So he isn't even principled on anything and won't talk about the truth because he will lose all his money

I love listening to Jordan Peterson lectures so much, and I've learned so much from him. I'm a female and I feel in the minority of people listening to his lectures but I don't care. People of both sexes can learn a lot from this man!
IDontReadReplies his political stuff seems to be mostly men but his religious stuff seems to be a good mix.
I think a lot more ladies listen than Dr. Peterson gives credit. We need the demand to responsibility too, especially because so many of us wait so long to have kids now. Cheers from another chick listener. Plus hanging out with the guys is way more fun, right?
of course the female has to place herself at the center of the discourse. pure selfish soul, sad!
If I happen to date a girl who likes Jordan Peterson, she's on the fast track to getting wifed lol.
hello yes i am also woman
Every freaking lecture is better than the one before it. just one mind blowing insight after another.
It's actually quit difficult to process all the insights... but it's worth it.
I've never had my perspective broadened and my eyes peeled back to look at this subject in such an astonishing way. Thank you, Mr. Peterson.
Mark H McCormack (author, What they don't teach you at Harvard Business School) imparted this advice a long time ago:
The three most powerful things to learn to say are -
I don't know
I was wrong
I need help

Wow. Exactly what has been on my mind
You give me an Awakening, understanding, I'm absolutely astounded during and after every time I hear you speak! It's like you give me the desire to be better, a better person, more educated, more informed, helping me find the strength in my struggle toward facing my truth.
This was breath taking. His interpretation of the Bible is so beautiful it’s making tears well up in my eyes
"We as humans have figured out that knowing where food is, is more important than having the food. Knowing where the food is, is a form of metafood"..... I cried.
Captured so aptly in the aphorism "give a man a fish, feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, feed him for life".

Chris Kennedy mine too!
And as a result our brains had to develop to comprehend what we see and as a manifestation of that development we became self conscious. So even evolutionarily the snake woke us up. Like. Seriously that blew me away too.

Dude singlehandedly adjusted my views on dating. Respect.
Don't know why but the conclusion of Dr. Peterson's dream produced a tear in my eye. Such a simple statement but for some reason very powerful. "Because I knew you could win".
Dear Dr. Peterson,
there was this question at the end, where the intertwined snakes get associated with DNA.
I wonder if they were consciously thinking of how rope braids and marriage work when they came up with those images

mike did you like you own comment?
This was great to hear. How is your brother doing now?
I just had a very close person to me pass away... I hadn't listened to that episode yet, so I put it on. Jordan Peterson really helps lay the framework in order to cope with the tragedies of life... Thank you...

It’s funny he had a vision like this.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against the spiritual wickedness in high places”
I’m 26 now and I’m still trying to sort out the meaning of why I had this dream and why I was meant to have it.

Let me know what you think about if you see it
Women are never happy and they are obsessed in being equal to men
Pain may help us learn, but love makes it worth it. I hope you have the strength to not let go of the latter.
Best thing I ever find on UA-cam in my life. Thank You Dr. Peterson.
Watching these series alone was a therapy! Thank you Sir Dr Peterson.
"I finished my book last night. I don't know if it's any good, but it's as good as I can make it anyway."

It's actually quite unbelieveble to think about. His first book has sold more copies then there are people who are subscribed to his UA-cam channel
WOW...he saved the Adam and Eve story... that interpretation blew me away.... 1:40:00-2:00:00 everybody needs at least to hear this evolutionary perspecitve once.
This was just extraordinary. I'm literally not watching movies any more on Saturday nights but put JBP on instead. What is happening?
Same. Thirst for knowledge

This is a masterpiece of a lecture. My God this Man has a gift. And this is free! This should be a module for every school in the World.

This is so next level genius I can't even communicate how amazing JPs ideas are. He's having the most profound impact on my life. 💗
Dr Peterson, you changed my life. Thank you.
The way he broke down Sleeping Beauty, then called Frozen trash was absolutely priceless and worth listening to😎👏🏾🙏🏽💯🔥
Jordan Peterson - The dad we all wish we had.
He's getting stronger
What a wonderful and amazing time to live in! To be able to have the honor and privilege to sit and hear such an amazing speaker as Jordan Peterson at the touch of a button, and it's free. A thousand thank yous for this upload.
Truly eye opening (forgive the pun). This is one of the best things I've listened to on human evolution. Remarkable work, Prof. Peterson.

Small groups would actually be better because churches invite too many people at once that it can be like being part of a mob.
Sir you changed my life for ever ... deep love and respect to you!!

I recommend that people who are interested in this question read Paradise Lost.
That all this good of evil shall produce,
And evil turn to good; more wonderful
Then that which by creation first brought forth
Light out of darkness!"
Interesting. Could you tell me a little more what you mean and also this quote you posted? Thank you. I've never read Paradise Lost, but from what I've heard it's an extremely difficult read.
