Yeah but Jessica Lange. -55 sins
Needs more sins removed....now
JL was a total smoke show 🔥🔥🔥
Her trying to talk to Kong makes her more of a dumb blonde/Karen
Ya she was and a absolute buh buh buh Bombshell.
My childhood crush
In all productions of King Kong; how the hell do they get a giant unconscious gorilla onto a boat in the first place?
Rope, lots of rope, and tugging.
"Cocaine's a hell of a drug"
In all productions of King Kong, they skip that part. Because obviously they do. I guess showing us a bunch of guys digging trenches underneath an unconscious gorilla to get ropes underneath to air lift him out isn't exciting enough.
I'd really enjoy a video by a biologist explaining how animal tissues can't actually be so big, and why an 80 ft tall gorilla would be impossible. That would be more interesting than any iteration we've had of a giant monkey.
Modern Technology William.
They rolled him of a hill off-screen 😄
Ok, the "face the audience was making" bit made me laugh so hard.
Me too 😂
@@bezoticallyyours83 Me three😂
I came
10 sins for ragging so hard on Rene Auberjonois - a fine actor and delightful man.
Build a giant wall to keep Kong out BUT have 2 huge doors?!? Why not sinned?
Fantastic spot, they’d just have one small human sized door.
omg ive been watching this movie since forever and that 1 never clicked
Ding! Sin has been given. Carry on.
I was 9 when I saw this and decades later, my love for the movie (And my enduring love for the iconic Jessica Lange) hasn't faded.
I was 12 and sincerely agree
This was her first film. I was 13 and she went on and had achieved many awards and honors. I grew up with her.
All that and when she started she was just another beautiful model.
I sò wanted to be her. Or Deborah Harry. My blonde little self wanted to Rock! As these ladies are icons for a reason.
Riiight? She still looks great too!
Never saw this version but I did fall in love with Jessica Lange at the time.
21:50 Did Kong just throw a barrel? Like...some kind of donkey?
Well He’s distant relative of Donkey Kong
Monkeys aren't donkeys! Quit messing with my head!
Fun fact- Donkey is a rude insult slur in the 2010s Planet of The Apes remakes. 🦍
His Luigi detector was activated
Jessica Lange is SO gorgeous in this!!!!!
Very,very true.
Kong thought so too.
What, nothing about the scarf becoming the size of a bedspread? I sin you for that.
Right!?! I was waiting for that.
At 13:07, Jeff Bridges looks like he's trapped in the CryoCapsules that sent General Zod to the Phantom Zone in Superman.
Why aren't we sinning the fact that Jeff Bridges looks like he's starring in a Planet of the Apes movie?
Cat: We've got a flamin asteroid headin our way fast and it looks like King Kongs first dump of the day. Red Dwarf.😊
Rimmer: "There's a meteor bigger than King Kong's first dump of the day...and it's steaming straight towards us!"-Red Dwarf, "Psirens"
Being that I was born in 1971, this version was my favorite
Same ,My Aunt Josie took me to see it in theater and when Kong is running through the woods screaming it scared the piss out of me lol .
Oh yeah, this is absolutely the best King Kong movie!
@@rosariocannistraro3561 What about when Kong came to pick up Jessica?
Young Lange was one of the prettiest woman Ive ever seen....had such a crush on her decades ago....
She’s still gorgeous
I saw this when it came out and thought, 'Wow... that robot they built for this film sure looks realistic!'
Found out later they used for two scenes... the rest was Rick Baker in a suit.
Same! I was 8
Jesus Christ, Jessica Lange was an absolute hottie when she was younger!
King Kong likes to go for a walk.
A very enthusiastic walk.
That suit looks sooooo good. BUT in motion it looks so garbage, there is zero chance anyone would think it was anything other than a guy wearing a suit and makes zero effort to be anything other than a guy wearing a great looking suit.
Fun Fact: Universal had originally planned to make a more faithful remake of King Kong (1933) to be titled "The Legend of King Kong", which was going to be a period piece, set in the 1930s. However, they backed out when this remake was announced.
Universal tried to sue over this movie being made. Because of course Universal was sure they owned the rights to Kong which they did not and do not.
SNL John Belushi did a funny skit about Dino Delatentis, Kong film 🕶.
This was my introduction to Kong as a kid in the 80's, still holds up as one of my faves
same
I believe you still need to do the original 1933 version.
ya @mountkilimanjaro2982 he has to do the 1933 original
Fun Fact: it was either this movie, or its sequel (King Kong Lives) that Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime, Mario from the Saturday Supercade cartoon, Predator, Eeyore and K.A.R.R, amongst others) was uncredited as the vocal roar of Kong
He was also the narrator for the trailer to Batman and Robin (1997).
@@ECKohns wait, really?
Holy shit
If I recall the VO actor injured the vocal cords doing Kong roars 🦍
@@DavidLLambertmobile I think it was either the Predator or Kong
But yeah basically
God DAMN this was the CinemaSins I needed today!!!!!
Fun fact
This movie is Jessica Lange’s film debut
Fun fact, Jessica Lang is an underrated baddie for her day!
Revision: This is the first time Jessica Lange gave a large male audience Kong size wood.
That’s right!l had forgotten that.
I won't hold that against her😂!
Fun fact: you can tell!
I love this movie 🤦🏿♀️. I first saw it in 83 when I was about 6 yrs old.
Can we have 'falling down', please?
9:33 loved the out of the blue ministry reference
That Kong yell was more I'm glad I have Jessica Lange and not Meryl Streep lol.
I'm sinning the fact that not a single Kong movie features a boat getting hit with a MASSIVE gorilla turd.
I hope to see you sin the OG Godzilla vs. Kong for this Thursday good sir, but mostly I still need you to sin Eight Legged Freaks and Titan A.E.
Always make it happen
Eight Legged Freaks. I don't care if they sin Titan AE: I'm just going to go watch it again.
If you're going to be dipping into older and older movies for material, I'd love to see the cinemasins take on some real classics. Something like Rear Window, which you love to reference, or Arsenic and Old Lace.
That’s a great idea.
I can't stop laughing at 4:45, definitely wasn't expecting that transition 😂
😂😂😂
The one thing that is right about this movie is Jessica Lange.
Quite true.
How dare you sin "Choose your own adventure" books.
Are we just going to blow off the fact that the boat captain is Clark W. Griswold, Sr.?
those trade center shots are heartbreaking
Because of what happens to Kong or of what happened to the buildings 25 years later?
If you build a giant wall to keep a giant ape out of your village, why in the hell would you build a door large enough for it to walk through? Just build a normal size door to take your sacrifices through. That makes no damn sense.
Exactly!
the line about 'climb the world trade center? he couldn't even climb that wall!?' was a spit out your coffee moment, never thought of that before!!
One of the best you've made. Keep up your great work!
This isn't a King Kong movie, it's Dwan's Casting Couch video.
Is Dwan really a name?
As a 17 year old, it was very difficult to choose between Jessica or Farrah. Looking back, Jessica was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
Wow, I always thought this was an average 80s movie, but it was actually an above average 70s film!
CinemaSins built my hotrod!
I DID confuse it with Surabaya, Oregon. Thank God the movie was there to save me.
SSNs were not issued according to where you were born, as is commonly believed, but based on where you lived when your SSN was applied for.
Turns out that Odo is a really lazy shapeshifter, he's just Odo-with-hair here.
This is my favorite King Kong, annnd my favorite King Kong damsel in distress. Jessica Lange in her prime can waste my time all day long.
Okay, Lynda Carter in WW was my first and forever crush, but Jessica was the first alternative goddess that caused me divided feelings... totally with Big Monkey on this one. (Think of it, tall, dark, royalty and willing to die for his lady...)
Same: no one beats Lynda Carter. But, Jessica Lange was smoking hot in this.
21:07 Jeremy argues an ape, the king of the apes nonetheless, can't climb. 😅
God, I remember watching this as a kid. Now, I just think of it and go "awww...they drug poor Jeff Bridges into this?"
I've thought that maybe the long hair and beard was a way to camouflage himself, so if this movie bombed he wouldn't be recognized.😀
Not only is the story and dialogue worse than the 1933 version - but the special effects aren't as good as the original ... really ... a man in a monkey suit wrestling a rubber snake.🙃 Max sins for that. It's a cruel world.
I think the reason the reporters ran up to Dwan is because they used what happened to her on the island to help sell the show. That might be the only thing about this movie that makes sense.
I saw this at a drive-in with my parents when I was a toddler. Imagine one of your earliest memories in life being Charles Grodin being stepped on by a giant ape.
This movie was my introduction to King Kong. In fact, I was actually on the ride Kongfrontation which was the first time I ever saw Kong.
It's surreal to remember a King Kong movie where Jack Black plays as a serious person who threw down with the swarms of insects, not the comedic fun guy who voiced a panda.
It's also not this movie
It's also surreal when you find out it's not this king kong movie. This is 1976 king kong. Jack Black was in 2005 king kong film.
It’s not this movie because he was an child Gen Zero
Tell us you didn’t watch the video or even read the full title without telling us you didn’t watch the video or even read the full title.
Are you for real?
I saw this when i was eight or nine. I remember leaving the theater sobbing that they killed the ape even though I already knew the story.
The King Kong movie I grew up watching. Still something of a guilty pleasure!!
Jessica Lange is still so beautiful! Amazing!
I just think about the dude who played Kong inside the suit. His resume would look something like this:
"....other accolades include being body double for Dino Dr Laurentis' "King Kong"
"You got the job man!"
Great recap. 👍Had it on VHS as kid, 30 years ago, so much nostalgia. Back then, I was already annoyed by the lack of rationality and how "blond" the blond was. 🤭
8:43 good 1 eagle eyes
It always amazes me that in movies like this and the Peter Jackson version, someone doesn't speak up and say that over 90 minutes of normal stuff happening before getting to the main attraction is WAY too long to wait.
You missed a single for How did Kong's body not explode like a water balloon showering the crowd with Kong gore.
Hong Kong Kung Fu movies of the 70's and 80's are some of the best movies ever made. They almost match 80's Schwarzenegger movies
Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao=Schwartzenegger, Stallone, Willis.
Now CinemaSins needs to do King Kong Lives (the sequel).
The idea of moving something that large and put it on the boat was always an issue
Not to be a simp, but if 1976 Jessica Lange tells me I'm an Aries then I'm goddamn growing horns and yeeting trolls off bridges.
What I remember more than the movie was the relentless promotion on television showing off that ridiculous squishy mechanical King Kong "hand" that did nothing but awkwardly grab things and was supposed to the state of the art of special effects in Hollywood.
I first saw this when I was a little kid. Still one of my favorite movies!
Can't say that I've been waiting for this one, but since I'm here.
Scroll on then. 😮
@@darrengriffin8609 Kong would've understood that statement. How didn't you?
Oopsies: The first three digits of your SSN used to be where you first obtained one, not where you were born, his would be where he obtained one.
Can you do a sins video for Dr. Strangelove?
A King Kong movie where he doesn't fight a dinosaur is very disappointing in Escapes he fought a giant sea serpent, Mechani-Kong, and Gorosaurus what the hell were they thinking when they made this movie?
It's called Being Cheap.
Please do The Sandlot PLEASE DO THE SANDLOT
I've asked so many times, these are just the suggested words as soon as I enter the comments of any UA-cam video.
2:36 I legit stopped the video and went down a 10min rabbit hole about SS#'s. I had no clue there was and actual pattern to them and your birth state is related to the first 3 digits. Sin off for hopefully being the question that wins me a billion dollars!
The music was SO GOOD in this movie
Thank John Barry.
man the optical and visual effects teams had a rough time with this one
“When Jaws dies, nobody cry. When Kong dies, everybody cry.”
-Producer Dino De Laurentiis
Isn't that a John Belushi quote? Lol
Dino actually said it.
Oh nun waiting on the old Godzilla movies next cuz boy
Hey can I request some movies for you to sin:
1. The Spongebob Squarepants movie
2. Sponge out of Water
3. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
4. The Big Lebowski
5. The Great Dictator
The Spongebob Squarepants movie is one of the greatest movies ever made!
@@brianrussell7369that’s exactly why I’m curious to see what he sins it for
1. Godzilla Minus One
2. End Of Days
3 Sleepwalkers
love your videos Jeremy, pls do Zodiac (2007), Kramer vs Kramer (1979), School Ties (1992) and All The Right Moves (1983)
It's crazy that the effects in the original movie hold up better than the effects in this film made 43 years later.
It wasn't the helicopters. It was sins killed the beast.
“I can't send a young pretty girl such as you ask on a job like this without telling her what to expect. To go off on a trip for no one knows how long, to some spot you don't even hint at, the only woman on the ship with the toughest mugs I ever looked at.”
Didn't F16s 🛩 take out Kong?
20:08 crazy screaming
I first saw it on TV, I believe at age 4. I liked it, and while I was aware of the 1933 version, I never got a chance until my parents got basic cable so I could watch it on AMC (back when it was what TMC is now) when I was 16. So I built up enough nostalgia to like this still. Saw the 1933 version for the first time in decades, and was reminded of how much more mean-spirited Kong is in that.
92 "when Kong twies you break it down." TheBirdman is going to love that one.
Kudos for referencing My Best Friend is a Vampire!
I was just waking up and drowsy and when looked at the thumbnail i thought Kong was holding a gun lol
22:43 Aaw Brendan Fraser in George of the Jungle. Love that one ❤
Whatever happened to Fay Wray?
That delicate satin draped frame
I wanted to be dressed, just the same.
Don't dream it, Be it.
8:53 They're unionized. It's a closed shop. Do you want the Teamsters after you? Because that's how you get the Teamsters after you.
That’s why I like Kong skull Island so much
It’s the first time he’s not vulnerable to bullets
Watching soldier shoot at Godzilla is just funny
Maybe they should stop drawing attention to themselves before he gets pissed off
I loved this movie as a kid and because I was a kid, I never noticed that main female lead was high as a kite when she recorded this lol
Excellent video
Bender gag at 4:42 "Interesting! no, the other one, Tedious."
Pretty sure the village was simply on the same side of the wall as the Petrox crew, but over a rise where they couldn't be seen. (Because the wall cuts off that small part of the island with the village from the rest of it with Kong and whatever.) Which means Fred had even MORE reason to be able to hear the bustling village getting their sacrificial pre-ceremony ready. So still a sin, but not the one mentioned.
MORE OLDER MOVIES! MORE! PLEASE!
Yay! Someone else remembers "My Best Friend Is A Vampire"! I love that movie
Oh, this was do good. Asked a lot of the same questions i have too. Still, it didnt deter me from owning the dvd and the Collecters edition Blu Ray. I have a soft spot for this movie. The soundtrack alone Is worth it. Im taking 50 sins off for Jessicas legs ✨Shwing!✨
15:40 thats the same scream noise used in Joe & Mac on SNES haha
I'm surprised this was my introduction to King Kong. I feel like I should've watched the one with Jack Black first
