  • I've been working hard the last few weeks trying to get the van ready for the wet fall and cold winter weather coming to Oregon. The first issue I had to address was my leaking high top roof. And the next most important thing I needed was a source of heat. I chose to install a Chinese diesel heater in the van to take the edge off the cold mornings and evenings. I'll be uploading more detailed videos on each of the things I did soon.

nice, can't wait to see it finished. i stopped working on my subaru for now until winter is over, i'd rather not spend my first months in it freezing my ass off and get turned off by it. i hope to get a van eventually too

Now that you have the van you can upgrade to a travel trailer to pull behind it. And the van would be a great place to store all your stuff that you can't get into the trailer. 😃

      @@DonnieDispersed that is unfortunate.
I love to tow my travel trailer because I loved my travel trailer.
I can relate because I would not want to travel with an animal. I've done it before. 😁

@@DonnieDispersed I also would not want to tow with the modern Trailer braking system. I hear they're pure crap.
I love the way my truck tows my travel trailer with the old style braking system made by Kelsey from the 70s. It tows like a dream and brakes perfectly, touching the brake pedal so I don't have to push any different on the brakes than I would without towing.
Besides having the Right tires with the right pressure and loading the trailer to correct proportions front and back it tows like a dream.
I heard one of the other full-timers teaching his wife how to tow their 5th wheel trailer and he kept saying you have to push the brake a lot harder when you're pulling the trailer. Having a braking system that works that badly on the trailer is suicidal. I would never attempt to pull it that way.
I urgently told him to get that thing fixed before he kills somebody!
Either his trailer brakes are not working or else it's that modern really crappy brake system on the modern trucks.
I've heard other people that have used both brake systems complain about that crappy modern brake system.
