I've seen these take on some seriously gnarly trails with no more than a couple of inches of lift and decent tyres, they are a super capable little 4x4, even as standard, definitely wouldn't call them a "soft roader".
I just bought mine A week ago. Im pretty stoked on building it up a little. Not lifting yet, im going to start with a cold air intake rather than a snorkel, then tires, then lift, then after that the sky is the limit.
Don’t expect great mileage from these. It’s definitely better than your van, but the v6 model wasn’t really the most efficient vehicle. Lots of good information for these on Suzuki forums though. But I’d suggest stocking up on parts if you ever come across wrecked ones, or see them at scrapper.
Wow I got a 2000 Vitara 2.0 5-door I just ordered the street Rays 2 inch kit in the mail it'll be here Tuesday got a samurai shifter cuz mine's a 5-speed waiting on some 2-in wheel spacers found an actual fitted raised intake waiting for these things to come in the mail in the next 2 to 3 days I'm here in southern Oregon and I come across your video spectacular
👍🏻We had a 2003 4x4 Tracker, then an AWD Forester, and then an AWD CRV. No contest, IMO. When the going gets tough, I want a Tracker/Vitara. I'm looking for 5spd.. 🤞🏼
I have a 1999 Chevy tracker 120k mileage 5 speed in Florida USA in excellent working order. Just drove it to NY and back. I'm considering selling it ;)
I built a similar GV for my Baja car. Look out for the stock plastic air intake snorkel that fits over the intake manifold and to the throttle body. Mine rotted away underneath which I would never had seen if I had not been searching for a coolant leak. It was sucking in raw dirty air and completely bypassing the air filter box. It was those damn little rubber hoses that go to the front of each head that were cracked and leaking coolant onto the valley of the V-6.
I’m thinking of buying one in my area it’s a 2003 4x4 v6 129xxx miles great condition inside and out water pump was just done, it seems like a do it all suv
@@alfredorenteriavillanueva7462 I ended up notching out the top hole on the lower part of the strut. Then welding, a thick washer in the correct spot so it wouldn’t slide back. First I tried aftermarket camber bolts, they helped, but didn’t quite get it all the way.
You said the shocks are for a 2wd toyota tacoma what year? the the KYB 554350 you linked in the description are listed as rear shocks for the 4x4 tacoma
I confirmed the ones I linked are the ones I used. When I referenced the part number online I believe it said it fit the Tacoma Pre-Runner which is why I said 2wd but it makes sense that it would fit the 4x4 and the prerunner.
Hey @DonnieDispersed those little notched areas on the intake is that to release debris before it gets to the airfilter? If not look into a Snorkel Head Cyclonic Pre Cleaner (round ones). Amazon has em $30 & up. Toughest part might be finding the right size. Too big it won't clean like it should & too small will restrict the airflow too much & starve the engine of air. Looking forward to seeing what you do next.
Looking forward to a long term review & what the air filter looks like since you put it on @@DonnieDispersed. Save the old filter for a comparison if you could.
I installed the lift kit. No issues with the rear. Front sway bar doesn’t line up now. Broke new link before I got off-road. Thinking of just removing it. How did yours do?
Hello, I'm thinking of doing something similar with my 2nd gen Grand Vitara. How did it go with the new tires and lift? Do they touch the body or is there no rubbing? Do you think it might be better to use 235/70 R16? It's practically the same height.
i have a suzuki grand vitara 2004 and it has almost 400k kilometers, would it be worth it to put a snorkel and lift on it? i dont wanna spend the money for it to die a month or 2 later
Did you have to remove the rear bump stops to get the spacer on? We have the same lift and it won’t sip on over the bump stop. We can’t get the bump stop off.
So what was the idea behind the manual hubs? These rigs don’t engage the front diff at the hubs, but rather in the differential itself. I suppose disconnecting the hubs from the driveshafts would provide a tiny mpg improvement?
Hey brother. I’m just curious if you kept the same original front shocks and just added The lifting kit. I just bought an manual, v6, 4x4 and I’m thinking to work on it.
I have an 03 tracker added the 2 in spacer can anyone help on wht shocks to get to help get a smoother ride.like wht other year of vehicles have the same front and rear shocks 2inches longer for a 03 tracker 2inch spacer lift
Thanks for the video. What part of the wheel spacer did you try machining? I’m contemplating doing this as well but with the G1 Tracker hub which might be a smaller area. Looking for specifics of what you tried exactly and where it failed. Can I buy your other two that are still good?
@DonnieDispersed thnk u for the reply I added the spacer lift on my 03 tracker now it rides rough. So I wasn't sure wht shocks to get tht would make it run smoother
@DonnieDispersed thnk u so much I been looking for information on wht shocks to use with the spacer lift couldn't find anything . Thnk u so much for the reply

I wish they kept making/selling these in North America. With true transfer case, these are much more capable than current "Cute-Utes".

Was literally just wondering about a taller shock thank you for the parts list
I have a 2003 xl7 and i've done almost the same mods, 2inch lift, 32s, lights and a roof rack. They are great little offroaders
same here, 4 inch lift, 31.5's, front winch bar. fun as hell!
I have an XL7. Looking for the manual hubs
@@edtaylor3409 they are compatable with the ones that fits vitaras/trackers and samurais. the ones that i used came from a 91 vitara
I have a 2001 GV I'm looking to upgrade. Did you need to change the shocks to accommodate the 2" lift or did you stick with stock?
@@1ring2rule3pigs i used the same shocks but i had to make an extension to be able to use them

I have a 2004 grand vitara
Thx for vid, GV is a under rated offroader. 👌

I've been wanting one of these for over a year, finally got a better job, starting to save
My first time off roading was in a built Vitara and it was a blast!

Great narration! Awesome detail
I just picked up a 02 tracker i plan on doing some of these mods i already put 30x9.50r15 tires on it

Great video! I like those little Zuk's.
Thanks! They’re fun little rigs, this is my second one 👍
Video very good!

Hi, did you keep the front shocks stock?
Sweet build.🎉
Yes, stock but I put new ones in.
Just bought a 2002 GV and I'm so stoked to build it out. Do you have any updates re how your Suzuki has been?
I have a 2000 GV 4x4 I keep at my house in Baja. 2" lift, old man emu shocks, 225x75x16 M/Ts, Warn hubs. Does great.
cool budget build. those tires will dissappoint on wet grass & mud though.😢
Hello Donnie.
What shocks did you use up front?
Best regards Conny from Finland
How did yoh get the front wheels to camber?
How did you get rid of the positive camber on the front tires?

How did you got thw front wheels straigth because i que get a wheel aliment on mine and have the same lift kit

Did you have to remove the rear bump stops to get the spacer on? We have the same lift and it won’t sip on over the bump stop. We can’t get the bump stop off.
If I recall correctly, I removed them and modified them to work with the lift. It’s been a while so I can’t remember exactly what I did
So what was the idea behind the manual hubs? These rigs don’t engage the front diff at the hubs, but rather in the differential itself. I suppose disconnecting the hubs from the driveshafts would provide a tiny mpg improvement?
Better mpg less daily wear and tear.
Are you still enjoying your Vitara?
What year Tacoma for those shocks?
I didn’t notice in your video what you did for the front shocks to get the extra extension. Are the Tacoma fronts compatible with the GV? Thanks
Stock KYB shocks in the front. The lift kit spaces the front struts down from the body so the shocks won’t see any additional travel up front.
Thanks!
Do you think the wheel spacers would fit if you still had the stock hubs? and do you have a link to buy them?
Yes, they would’ve fit with the stock hubs. Don’t have a link right now, but I did order them on eBay.
so you didnt switch the front shocks?
Front shocks remain stock.
Have you had trouble with the front swaybar links?
I ended up removing the sway bar up front.
Nice.
Hey brother. I’m just curious if you kept the same original front shocks and just added The lifting kit. I just bought an manual, v6, 4x4 and I’m thinking to work on it.

Where did you get your snorkel? I found one on eBay but the shipping is $60
The company was based in Russia. So if you’re in the US they’re not available anymore.
would you happen to know if the 2002 xl-7 model has the same rear shock mounts?
Can’t say for sure, but I would assume so.
Someone make performance parts for this thing the 2.5l is strong and the rear axle is strong as fuck
Could you give the specs on the wheel spacers that you didnt use?

Did you have any issue with going to a larger tyre size?
Tires rub the frame on full steering lock, but otherwise no issues after doing the lift.
Bella! Molto lontana dalla mia! 😪
what shocks did you get for the front?
Standard struts that were on it. They happened to be KYBs
Did u use the original shocks up front ? Or wht shocks Did u use up front?
Stock KYB struts up front. The lift kit spaces them down from the body, so they don’t get any extra travel like the rears.
