Trying to decipher why winsor & newton nor prismacolor haven't done this yet. Because this is part of the reason I don't buy their markers . I'm excited to get some refills for my Blick studio markers now, especially for inktober
That's a really good point. I would LOVE to see refills for Prismas- if only to have those colors available as alcohol inks for spray bottles and filling empty Copic Wides. I know they have the inks, as they're filling the markers, perhaps it's just a market standpoint- maybe the storespace made it unfeasible? Perhaps now we'll see refills for other marker brands.
I got a refill not too long ago and hope to grow my blick collection. I was told by a Blick employee that copic prices were going to rise again so blick markers would be a great alternative! Hopefully, they keep growing their range of colors for refills!
Checking the site today, it says they have 95 colors available for the refills, so perhaps I didn't check carefully enough at time of purchase, or perhaps they'd added more colors in the interim. I'm not surprised Copic prices are about to rise- international shipping is about to rise as well, so Blick markers seem like a really excellent alternative, as you said!
This is awesome!!!!! When I saw the thumbnail to this video I just about did a backflip. I had to go to the website just to see it for myself. I really like Blick brush markers and I was really hoping they would produce refills! I'm so glad I've been hanging on to the original markers after they dried! :D Thanks for making a video about this! As much as I like Copics, the Blicks are so much cheaper and I get the same results!
You're very welcome! I literally screamed when I initially got the email, so I know the feeling :P I'm happy to share the good news- I know it's going to make a lot of marker artists happy!
I just ordered from blick , I got 2 free 15 ml tubes of gouache , and got 2 v Free 15 ml watercolors , bought smooth Bristol pad , 9x12 for 5.02 and, got alizarins crimson mmm fre, one sheet of 300 pound Stonehenge and 5 15 ml tubes of m graham gouache , 100% cotton, 3 packs of cold press ( think they come 3 to a pk, or that the regular price for pk of 3…… somewhere in there I got a free 15nl cerulean blue , watercolor or gouache, it only came to the 64$ it wouldn’t let me put any info for the 5$ off coupon so I’m going to call them now
mabe soon they will come out with some new colors for markers now they refills for them. Also is there a difference between the blick illustration markers and the blick brush markers?
So how would you remove the tips of the markers without copic tweezers??? Because I don’t have the twezzers and I don’t want to damage the tips. Thank you so much for posting that video I was vary happy the Blick stedio brush markers came out with refills!😊
Hmm, a good question! Blunt faced tweezers (so non needle nose) would probably work, but honestly? I'd just use my long fingernails and try to pry out the chisel tip for refilling.
I have been looking at a few different marker sets. I'm new to drawing and using alcohol markers. I've been looking at the blick, the master markers and the ohuhu markers. I'm not sure which would be my best buy. I rather not spend $100 plus as I'm just getting into this, but I want something that is going to last and that I won't outgrow , by that I mean, get to the point where I find my they no longer fit my level of experience. Do you have any advice. Thank you and I love your channel.
New colors for the range, or new colors for refills? For the range, I'd like to see more intense colors, and maybe some neons, some good dark greens and olives would be great as well. On that front, I never gave it much thought, as Prismacolor usually fills in the gaps, but it would be really nice to recommend Blick Studio Brush Markers as an all inclusive marker system. For the refills, I'm missing Light Periwinkle and Periwinkle- the site says they have 95 refill colors available now, so perhaps I just missed those the first time!
I find them almost identical. For some, the hexagonal body might be a little unusual, and if you're heavy handed or maybe grip your markers too tight, you'll notice the difference, but if you're fairly lighthanded, you'll soon forget that you're not using Copic markers. Before buying a bunch, I would recommend picking up a couple and using them interchangeably with your existing marker collection, just to see if they're a good fit for you personally.

Wonderful news. Blick Studio markers are like, my third favorite alcohol marker behind Copics and W&N Brushmarkers.
They mean they has better inks then copies inks
Blick has replaceable nibs now! Just saw them on the new products page! Happy dance!
Omg thank you for this vid! This is so helpful I need to get some for my birthday! Also subbed
Oh thank god
Awesome news! Thanks for sharing.

Just checked Blick online. They now have approximately 80 refill colors (although I did not count each one!)
These markers are identical to the Spectra AD markers same shape size, brush EVERYTHING.
Have you tested to see if copic brush nibs fit in the blick studio markers?

Will these work with the limited edition illustrator markers.
if they came out with new colors what colors would you like to see?

How do they feel in the hand compared to Copics?
