I think not having a "why" for this building actually makes it more valuable to me. It adds a sense of mystery or age to the build. Especially since it's so large that it almost looms over the village, it really brings to mind images of buildings that have been around so long they start to become part of the natural world like a hill or a mountain.
honestly I adore the build and I'm so glad you spent so long walking around it and just talking about how good it is!! With youtube these days we so rarely get to bask in the builds people make, it's all done in a quick timelapse and boom onto the next project, but this deserves time and adoration and amazement!!
bdubs I don't know if you've played Elden ring but there is this place called academy of Raya Lucaria and the bridges are all crumbled and you can almost use them as stairs I think if you took some inspiration from those stairs you would have yourself a really fun time as well as an amazing pathway up to the new build! Love the video and loved the build!
bdubs at this hour? accidental post? anyways. at the start of the video, it always makes me happy to hear someone happy about their work. and its great to hear how others building keeps pushing you forward too as it should for every artist
I've been watching Bdubs' videos since 2013, when I was 12 years old. I often wonder what that secret ingredient is that keeps me coming back after all these years. I think the answer is that Bdubs, through both his building and his words, has a special ability to express beauty, meaning, and authenticity. And honestly, that's what art is about, and it's what every artist strives for. So thanks for being my fav artist Bdubs.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with being proud of your work. Especially when you're this good. I would love to see a world with all your milestone builds from Home Depot onward just to see how far your skills have advanced. It's been so much fun watching you over the years.
It kind of gives me Shadow of the Colossus vibes with the big castle-tower in the middle of the flat planes, especially with the big ol' bridge. Absolutely love the scale and detail, you're a magician bdubs!
This episode gets me back to like 10 or 12 years ago watching the old building with bdubs videos. Just building, chilling and some life talk. It is really inspiring Bdubs, not only the beautiful buildings, but also the experience and imersion you accomplish with what you have to say. Touching. Amazing build btw, you could paste it into a picture and none would notice it is minecraft.
bdubs i had rly plateaued as a builder for the last 5 years but the reboot of building with bdubs series has rly made me improve with shading and texturing
Bdubs, you are just the best! I’m not a minecrafter, I’m an painter, but I love every video you post. Your videos are just way beyond everyone else. When you play it’s no longer a kids game... you give everybody inspiration. I can’t give you enough flowers.
Bdubs, you're a friggen Genius. Has anyone told you that? 100% Honesty. Sometimes i see your builds and think "Why would i ever build something in minecraft? Bdubs exists and i can't even make anything that looks even 2% that gorgeous so why bother?" But i wont stop because maybe one day i can build something 10% as beautiful. Youre an inspiration man, never stop. Love you man.
Bdubs you have outdone yourself again. That build is breathtaking. You should build something like this on the hermitcraft server in ethos and tango’s back garden. It would be funny how they would praise you every episode
I have to say that every time you say “commmmmerrcial break” I smile and I cannot wait to see what you’ve done this time. You make commercials so much fun and for that I am grateful! Also you Minecraft skills and talent are off the charts. Thank you for the inspiration in MC and irl! Cheers brother
I love that the flat surface above the front arch mimics the vertical shadows present in the diagonal surfaces as well, bit of a 2 way dynamic to keep them similar
At 26:26 I love what you have to say about pride for your work and I agree wholeheartedly. A lot of kids these days are learning from media or each other to shrink themselves and make their accomplishments small, but we can be proud of ourselves while also uplifting others! We don’t have to be sad and unhappy to avoid putting others down, we can lift ourselves up and the ones around us at the same time. I’m glad you’re teaching them this important rule, they’ll be happier, better people for it
A few things: 1. There is a "why" to the building; it's learning new skills and furthering your capacity to practice them. 2. The compression wasn't bad; the rain is a good mood. 3. Perhaps the rest of the way up to the tower is a bending, curving and snaking path around the lower parts of the terraforming, up to the more formal staircase.
oh my god, that final shot almost made me cry. Bdubs you've done it again! I would really love to hear more about your process of developing over the last year. Like after you have your idea, what are the next steps you take to try to improve it? Once you've been working on it for a few months, what is it about the build that you still want to change? Do you start with specific goals in mind? Do you discover what you want the build to be like as you make it?
27:51 I think multiple rope bridges attached to cylindrical cliff spire things, leading to the hill the bridge is on would be a nice way to make an entrance pathway
You know one of the things I love about you is you've really mastered your craft, we see this all the time when great writers, painters, musicians create art, they get to a level where they can break the rules. You're at a level, where you break the "rules" within Minecraft. It's really inspiring to see, and what I mean by that is, you don't follow traditional roof designs, circular type of building style or even walls. Rather you are constantly innovating, refining your craft, and learning. It's a beautiful thing to see, there is no best builder in Minecraft, each builder has something unique and beautiful to offer. I just really appreciate the way you create art, I hope you see this comment.
Part of me watches Bdubs for the amazing builds, but a larger part of me watches to be inspired by by someone who is constantly learning and pushing themself to be better. Loving the journey.
Fun fact the technical term for reducing the jagged edges by changing the colors of the pixels is called antialiasing. It's used a lot in computer graphics and it's what allows us to see smooth curves in displays with a lot less pixels. Love the build and the explanation of how you did the AA!
The song that was used was Jonatan Mollberg The First Two Times, the song fits the build perfectly, watching the whole series up again.. just coming back to this video.. this song with the camera angles was inspirational and the thought of how long.. wow, love the videos bdubs :)
I've been watching you for over 12 years Bdubs and I thought you were the best builder I had ever seen back then... watching you grow and blow my mind with your builds time and time again over the years has been amazing. And I agree, this is your best one to date. You've got a beautiful mind my friend, keep up all the great work! love ya!
Man, it makes me feel some type of way to hear you talking about not being the best and instinctively rising to your defense - but also it's really hard hitting to follow that up with not being the best being a kind of joy or drive to grow. I just hope you know I always learn a lot, about minecraft and art and drive in general from you.
When I walk through my neighborhood I notice the waterstained shadows under windows because you explained that shading technique in a livestream once. It's a joy to see the world in more detail bc of you.
Something about this video -- especially the music and the rain at the end -- makes me so melancholy and nostalgic, but in a really cozy, pleasant way. The build is so beautiful, and the entire vibe (to use the cool kids word) is so welcoming and comfortable... I love every Bdubs video ever, OBVIOUSLY, but the Building With Bdubs series is something special.
Instantly recognized the clock window! Its awesome! Bdubs, you'll be an awesome part of Snarple's build team! Your color and architecture skills combined will enhance his.
It’s so wild how incredible the structure and terrane looks from a distance. Then you get close and you think it’s just a random assortment of blocks. It really is incredible.
You are an incredible builder. As a parent of a rapidly growing pre-teen, I love that you promote creativity, experimentation and positivity. People should learn to be proud of themselves and to say those things out loud. Thanks, for the content and the wisdom.
First time I've heard of Bdubs and I'm not much of a minecraft player but goddam this is impressive, not just the building but the understanding of how the block shapes and shadows work in minecraft.
This new one reminds me of Mt. St. Michel. You've got a real Ghibli vibe going between the developing landscape and the background music. I love this so much.
25:20 I love how the bride slowly fades into the fog, which made me think of the back of the mountain: What if it were hidden behind clouds? That would be much more interesting than simply finishing the cliffside and would help establish completeley new views of the city.
Can not describe how awesome this build is and I dont even know 1/10th of the details that went into it. 2 minutes of the best cinematography for a years worth of work combined with a classic Bdubs story. Job well done Bdubs, Love Ya to Death as always.
For the "why" of the building, maybe just turn it into a big time keeping device. It's got the clock motif on the front, so throw in a daylight sensor and some bells or something and turn it into a temple of time that rings in the new day.
I'm so glad that this series back. What I love about Bdubs, is on top of being an insane talent of this community, he's extremely humble _(Heck, even all the power-hunger he has from Hermitcraft is roleplay and mostly played as a gag)_ and doesn't think of himself as one of the greatest builders which he ABSOLUTELY is. He just knows how to pick a perfect block for any situation... Also, this Tower of Babel-esque building is absolutely out of this world, it's what I'd imagine an ''Eighth ancient wonder of the world'' to look like if it was to be ever constructed.
This is reminding me of wayyyyyy old days when you tried your hand at building in huge scales for adventure maps, Bubbles. Would love to see a purely creative/tools build with some epic landscape cause it's such a unique art form within minecraft
Good lord. I usually hate people who don't take credit for their work or are too humble to be proud about what they've done because I've seen someone dear to me do that far too often and never accepted the hardwork and talent they possessed. I've seen other builders creating great builds but you bring out something different maybe, you give a soul to the builds you work on.
Ideas for a path and surrounding area: have a once pristine pond in the front and bc the bridge to the door is broken, have a broken bridge strewn across the ground and in the pond. Then an overgrown road leading in a curve around the pillars getting progressively less overgrown into town. The area surrounding the ominous tower could be an old partially abandoned place? Like ‘old town’ or something. An area with not many standing buildings left, which will ensure that the line of sight to the tower stays in tact and impressive as ever. Whatever you decide to do, absolutely AMAZING. The thought you put into design and build choices alone makes you the best builder in my book. I can’t believe it took you a year. I’m glad that you are also using your videos to teach your daughters by extension, about things :) lovely video.
Amazing build once again. You mentioned it maybe developing a 'why' as time goes on, and I think it looks like a grand mausoleum. Within the city there are clearly monuments to specific people or events, like the Brothers' Bridge and the tower housing the dragon egg. Maybe this awesome structure is the final resting place of the city's founder, and maybe lesser tombs and graves could dot the cliffside around it, lending a real gothic feel beyond the architectural style like some of FromSoftware's environmental designs throughout the Soulsborne line. Regardless, you're an inspiration to me and many others, and have been for many years. You truly are the best builder in my heart.
Love you to death Mr. Dubs. Thank you for another uplifting message. I just wanted to share quick how I came to your videos. It was covid and I was so depressed. And I started watching and following Hermitcraft as I started playing Minecraft for real to keep in touch with my niece (I had played before but always just as a goof as she and I cowered for a few nights in a hole in the ground). It was such a good time to play on my own, and the Hermitcraft community reminded me of some of the things I had lost touch with. So I started making content, telling more stories, and dreaming of giving others a shmile. Last year I helped make the Cobblemon Trailer (I planned it and filmed it all but could not have done it alone) and it really filled me with joy. It brought something very meaningful and lovely into my life. And I don't think I'd have made it to that if it weren't for you. I only ended up on the Cobblemon team for building and while I love Snarple and Shovel's work, you taught me to build. I appreciate you and your messages very much. The build is a gorgey, btw
Holy! That is one spectacular build, Bdubs! Definitely THE BEST builder in the world (this world especially in fact the only one in it!) No really, amazing job you deserve the praise. I've always thought that builders don't need a why, especially if you treat Minecraft as a visual art medium, it's all good! We definitely are here to watch you build. I'm so excited for the competition! I've always wanted to see you branch that way and here we are! In the company of some of the bests out there
Absolutely love the build! Without in anyway taking away from your unquestionable talent, I liked how you also talked about the time and effort and experimenting that went into making the arches look round etc!
It’s beautiful to think that BECAUSE you tore the old dead tree out, you built the monument that inspired your best build yet. It also drove you to build your best tree ever but you put that one on HC instead of here lol. Thanks for sharing so much of your process. Appreciate you!
The way you not only use blocks like paint, but somehow work out how to see the big picture and build at crazy angles is incredible to me. You are the best builder I've ever seen. Meanwhile my builds are basically just like vanilla village houses with one or two nice things, like an interesting block palette or a new window or lantern design. Which, I like, but it doesn't compare to this!
Are you kidding me!!! This build is next level. You are an extremely talented artist and I love how you use the constraints of Minecraft and really stretch them to create amazing beautiful art.
It’s close to a real life city, new and old buildings encroaching on each other, roads and paths that don’t always make sense. Different districts like an old historic area. For inspiration look into Haussmann's renovation of Paris.
these videos with the slow music and lots of introspection make me feel so nostalgic even though im a relatively new viewer compared to a lot of watchers of yours!
Oh my gosh same! It's so emotional 🥹.. I started watching bdubs on other hurmits vewis and was like I gotta go see more of his videos now he's just one of my favs to watch! He's so wholesome yet chaotic when he's with his friends lol
Been watching you a long long time (before you got married), and this build is without a doubt your most impressive from a technical standpoint. I can’t believe it’s Minecraft!
Bdubs, you push the limits and bridge the gap between just building in Minecraft, and creating actual art. Hearing the way you describe the arches built at the angles, going in depth showing the details and how there’s differences in each arch and where lighter blocks accentuate the build. It’s mesmerizing, beautiful, and honestly just incredible. Between you and Jerm your content always brings me back wanting more. Amazing!
I had my own build style up until a week ago when I discovered building like this. It's more like painting, working with blocks as values rather than just structural elements. Accentuating light and dark to produce emergent designs. It's even more work than building was before, but I'm all for it. You are an inspiration.
goodness gracious.

I think he used elden ring as a inspiration for the moseleum dont u think? Looks almost the same
@@durb5259 yeah I can see it for sure
bdubs at this hour? accidental post? anyways. at the start of the video, it always makes me happy to hear someone happy about their work. and its great to hear how others building keeps pushing you forward too as it should for every artist
For anyone curious, the music during the time lapse is apparently:
Jonatan Mollberg - The First Two Times
Thank you a lot!

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Bdubs’ has seriously molded me growing up.
18:29 The fact that you use different colors on the diagonals to simulate curves is just such a next level builder mindset. Love your stuff!
There's absolutely nothing wrong with being proud of your work. Especially when you're this good.
I would love to see a world with all your milestone builds from Home Depot onward just to see how far your skills have advanced. It's been so much fun watching you over the years.
The absolute whiplash I got from that thumbnail is indescribable. He can't keep getting away with it
He will sadly
Stopped watching after 11 seconds. That’s all I needed. Bdubs best full stop
It kind of gives me Shadow of the Colossus vibes with the big castle-tower in the middle of the flat planes, especially with the big ol' bridge. Absolutely love the scale and detail, you're a magician bdubs!
I was gonna say the same thing. The vibe in the SotC is pure magic, and this feels very similar.
This whole survival world gives that vibe! The bridge absolutely sells it
I can see that, it reminds me a lot of Dark Souls as well
This episode gets me back to like 10 or 12 years ago watching the old building with bdubs videos. Just building, chilling and some life talk.
It is really inspiring Bdubs, not only the beautiful buildings, but also the experience and imersion you accomplish with what you have to say. Touching.
Amazing build btw, you could paste it into a picture and none would notice it is minecraft.
Yes. This
Every time Bdubs’ thumbnail showcased a build, my jaw just hits the floor. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Unbelievable.
“I’m glazing myself”😂😂 love bdubs
That term is so gross that I got whiplash from him saying it
@@XS_Overlord haha im not sure he knows why it's called glazing
@@barb0za0 chat does he know
@@dominoot2652 he lacks critical information
Caught me so off guard from bdubs
bdubs i had rly plateaued as a builder for the last 5 years but the reboot of building with bdubs series has rly made me improve with shading and texturing
0:15 yes u are ❤
Bdubs you have outdone yourself again.
Thank you Bdubs, I will remember fabric is priced by the yard.
I’m glad you’re teaching them this important rule, they’ll be happier, better people for it
Bdubs is in his Bob Ross era and I am absolutely here for it ❤❤❤❤ Gimme more happy trees, you scrunklemonkey.
I wrote this before I watched him blow up the house. I stand by it, though. 😂
A few things:
0:10 im pretty sure everyone agrees 😂❤
You've got a beautiful mind my friend, keep up all the great work! love ya!
Every time I watch a bdubs video I find myself saying “shut up, you didn’t, you did, how, insanity” you are truly and inspiration
I love that your like a reverse vampire and can just sense when its getting dark :D makes me laugh everytime
Flabbergasted. No words for this. Makes my own builds feel super low effort and inadequate haha, you’re the king
It almost doesn't even look like Minecraft but just a render. Absolutely insane work.
Instantly recognized the clock window! Its awesome! Bdubs, you'll be an awesome part of Snarple's build team! Your color and architecture skills combined will enhance his.
Bdubs: 'Remember - it's priced by the yard.'
Me and every other European: 'By the what?'
Beautiful work as always, Bdubs. You are an incredible artist. Love you brother.
BDubs you are a true artist. This build looks like something straight out of middle earth. Nicely done! ❤
Honestly the Bakery Builders team with Bdubs, genuinely sounds so awesome. Some incredible builders over there! Can't wait for that collab!!
I've learned so much from you. I've started to put scaffolding in my dirt hut windows. Really ties everything together, man.
Can not describe how awesome this build is and I dont even know 1/10th of the details that went into it. 2 minutes of the best cinematography for a years worth of work combined with a classic Bdubs story. Job well done Bdubs, Love Ya to Death as always.
Crazy bloodborne vibes. What an accomplishment, Bdubs
For the "why" of the building, maybe just turn it into a big time keeping device. It's got the clock motif on the front, so throw in a daylight sensor and some bells or something and turn it into a temple of time that rings in the new day.
No way he made this absolutely insane build just for a backdrop lol gotta love him man
I'm so glad that this series back.
BdoubleO100! The view of the new building looks sick from behind too. The bridge in the back is really really cool looking!
This is the most impressive build ive seen in the past 15 years. No redstone can beat this!
The fabric advice has changed my life ❤
Amazing build as always!
The build the music the life lesson this video was great thanks bdubs❤
Fancy seeing you here, Virt! Hope you have been well, and thank you for sharing your message.
In the company of some of the bests out there
I really wish worlds like this wouldn’t be limited to survival - I’d love to see what BDubs could do with the tools of creative!
Absolutely love the build! Without in anyway taking away from your unquestionable talent, I liked how you also talked about the time and effort and experimenting that went into making the arches look round etc!
Absolutely breath taking build. And it's the best dome roof I've ever seen in Minecraft.
Looks straight outta Dark Souls III, I love it!
Are you kidding me!!! This build is next level. You are an extremely talented artist and I love how you use the constraints of Minecraft and really stretch them to create amazing beautiful art.
It looks amazing! It really reminds me of Ishgard from final fantasy 14!
