    I have a pair of pro-stock pants, they are awesome. I have pro stock goalie pants too. Thats the one area I go pro stock. I can't personally wear pro stock skates or shin pads because CCM 14's are borderline too big and bauer 14's are intermediate. My skates are like a 7 or 7.5 EE/wide. Also, it was a dodge neon, I feel personally attacked LOL

      Haha Yes, a dodge neon would also fall into that category of vehicles that housed unwashed hockey equipment for multiple days. Lol

    The title intrigues me. I’m in for the 30! Especially since I don’t venture into prostock. Excited!

      @@mongillohockey good info I never look at pro stock cause I’m super shallow and hate that it’s used and looks awful lol

      @@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews ha! You’re not the only one. My wife hates buying used gear based solely upon how impossible it is to get the smell out of hockey gloves. Lol. If you buy pro stock gear new the prices do get crazy. My shin pads have gone for $250-$350 if you want them new. That’s not worth it no matter how much better they fit.

      @@mongillohockey yeah no kidding whoa that’s crazy. But I guess new prostock would be pretty nice gear

    i have 2 pairs of Bauer pro stock pants (Nexus and Vapor) and a pair of CCM hp45. When it comes to retail vs. pro stock, the biggest difference is in the pants and gloves IMO.

      Absolutely right. I’d also add the shin pads.

    5k is not prostock. It’s just retail copy (2011-2012) of 8k pro shin pads. But yes, still better than modern crap from CCM

      Yes, totally get that. For clarification, the 5Ks are pro stock in that I got them and the shoulder pads directly from the Toronto Maple Leafs. This is obviously different than the made in Sweden pads.

    The pro stock used is cheaper, but this is barely a comparison to high end retail… my Bauer supreme 3s pro elbows are every bit of those pro stocks and more. Plus they aren’t even the highest end, there’s still ultrasonics (although I really don’t see much difference other than color from 3s pro to ultrasonics)

      Hey there, thanks for the comments. I’m glad you found something that works for you, as that’s the important thing.

    You need to compare the same model of the equipment to truly see the difference between retail and prostock. I know that would be hard to do though. I have a couple pairs of prostock pants and haven't really noticed huge differences

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  Рік тому +1

      The main difference is padding and fit options for the same model. For example, i compared Nexus retail pants to Nexus pro stock pants and there was a significant difference in protection. Regarding fit (particularly within the CCM HP series line) there are a few fit choices too. For instance length, use of plastics or foam, height of the rib protector and some other minor stuff like zippers or no zippers. At the end of the day, pro stock equipment is better across the board so long as they have the team color you need. The exception is sticks. Retail sticks perform far better, but there’s debate upon which is more durable.
