Glad I could help! I’ve been using these for years. I think they’re great and I’ve never heard of anyone trying these and not liking them unless their skates are incredibly low volume.
As a flat footed skater I had a lot of issues with pain in the ball of my foot, hotspots, and cramping. The Bauer Speedplate 2.0 cleared all of it up I initially thought it was placebo so I tried superfeet and Currex Hockey insoles. Both caused instability and pain. May not be for everyone but for those with weird flat feet and collapsed arches, they can be beneficial
Great review! I have been thinking about these but havent seen such an in-depth review before! I should probably have a half size smaller than what I wear now so these sound perfect to help take up that extra space!
Thanks man! I’d say they’re affordable enough to give them a try. If you don’t like them, pull them out and toss them. Remember, if you own CCM or True skates, you’ll probably need to trim them to fit due to the shapes of the toe caps. However, I find that if you own Bauer, they should fit with no trimming as long as you’re a senior skate size. Let me know how they work out.
Goalies always get a pass on wheels, as do referees and linemen who travel. No one else. Lol. I’m teaching my kid that. Most important hockey lesson yet.
Been using these for a while. I have the classic Bauer EE Vapor foot ... wide and low volume. I wear a 10.5 shoe and an 11 skate. So, I could play a piano in the toe box. These inserts took all the wasted space away and secured my toes. I also feel like my uptake (picking the skate off the ice) in stride is more positive.
@@ryguy898 not a typo. Every smaller pair of skates I have had have felt like I have placed my instep into a vise as soon as I lace them up ... even laced loosely. The "size to size and a half down" rule doesn't work for my feet.
I tried the inserts and I actually did not like them. They really make that toe box into an oven and I found it distracting when I would flex my toes down and feel it rubbing on top of them. Besides that with the top of your forefoot already sinched with laces, I can't think of a single situation where I would want my toes to come up quicker than they already do with tight enough laces. But thats the thing, if your moving your entire skate, they cant move your entire foot any faster anyways. In fact it'd be slower with the added weight right where it matters most. Where it could do something is directly pulling your toes up (and the toe of your blade) when you have deep heel pressure and curl your toes upward, but I can only think of multiple times when I would not want to pull the toe of my blade up with them such as tight turns, corkscrews, halfway through c-cuts, front foot on a shuffle. The effect may be tiny, but if I'm right it's only effects are negative.
Hey thanks for your perspective. You’re definitely in the minority with your opinion, but that’s obviously completely fine. There’s no such thing as one piece of equipment that everyone likes. I think it’s really good that you have them a try even though they were t for you. It’s funny, too. A couple of the things you didn’t like were things that I liked about them.
@@jeromeo12 Yeah I’ve noticed that too. I personally don’t think manufacturers have a great way to fit most people either. I’m kind of an outlier with how much heel depth I need in a skate, but no one makes the proper size skates without going full NHL-style custom.
I disagree. Rezztek is great. Speedplate is good too. Powerfoot are amazing. I can't wear a pair of skates without them. I agree though that roller bags are lame.
@@mongillohockey I hate taping sticks and Rezztek works well. Especially if you cut it in half, you then get 4 sticks out of each pack. Only the bottom portion of the blade needs to have "grip". It also keeps the stick light too.
@@NicholasG27 Maybe I’ll give it another try. I had the same thoughts because I was burning through tape every game. I tried Rezztek for awhile but the grippy part wore out in about four games. I tried to get it off but it left a terrible residue which took heat and goof off to remove.
Good timing of this video....looking for this exact video and answered my questions. Thx

Woah woah woah, player bag, totally with you. Goalie stuff is orders of magnitude more bulky, I'd really struggle without the wheeled bag.

Thanks for the comment and keep tickling the ivory’s inside those skates! Lol
Is that a typo? I have the same foot shape. 10.5-11 shoe and wear a 8EE jetspeed. And wish I bought 7.5s. I play w out socks tho

What is your shoe size? I noticed your skate is size 8 wide.
I typically wear a 10.5 or maybe an 11 wide shoe.

2-3 sizes down seems normal. Don't know why manufacturers always say 1-1.5 !

I like the inserts.
Yeah these are the best skate upgrades ever created. Lol
It's good but I make my own bc two pieces of foam should not be $20
lol yeah I hear you. Hockey is an expensive sport for sure.

@@mongillohockey Just put it over the gas stove and it peels off clean. Maybe the heat gun was set on too low of a setting?
@@NicholasG27 Could’ve been. I tend to go with a cooler setting when applying heat to carbon fiber.
