If you come to Europe it is so rare to see pegs. They always drill it to the ice. But not in practice

Hey Trav, Love your channel and enjoy watching videos. I’m from Chicago and moved to Montreal in 2001. I started playing goalie at 35 years old and I was a Vaughn guy with my most recent set being the SLR. Now as a 56-year-old beer league Goalie (who may enjoy the beers more after the game than the game itself, LOL) I just switched to the Ultrasonic’s. I like you’ve never been a Bauer guy but since switching to these pads I have seen major Improvements on my butterfly and my butterfly pushes due to the rotation of the pads, but I realize the are not for everyone. I do love the blocker, but I’m getting used to the Trapper. I actually just Purchased a pair of pro laces and attached them yesterday and skated last night, I thought they were awesome and I felt they made the Pads better. Pro Laces should contact Bauer and make the laces standardized on their equipment. I would highly recommend them to anybody. If you’re ever back in Montreal need any help with anything let me know!
The Bauer pads are exceptional. My one complaint is the knee still slipping from the knee block like vapors but that was mostly remedied by keeping the knee strap tight. Other than that the performance is amazing. Toe ties are easily replaced. Pro goalie opinions are tough because they get custom gear and they are there to market a product. They also stick to what is familiar. Their experience is different than the average consumer of course. And we have to take your opinion as a grain of salt because you’re here to market a product as well

Where was the pro goalie opinion?
Yo trav, something I noticed is when you attack out to the puck initially you are not low in your legs and you go into a deeper stance once you get out, it’s hard to tell with the angle but definitely make sure you aren’t accidentally putting yourself out of position even by a little bit. Could be the difference between a save and a goal and I was doing this for years and I looked at hours of myself playing and breaking down every little detail to find out cause it just felt and even looked so natural.

Did that camera spin back in place or did you recover the video by making some sort of manual transition? Because either way that's pretty good.
Toe ties are preference and easily replaced. There are pro goalies that use skate laces when average joe players scream that it's antiquated. I think you have a point about the toe piece but I am not sure how big of a difference that would make. I have zero issues with pad rotation in the ultrasonics though.
it's all preference. TH bridge would be nice to land on and to put the toe tie of your choice on

That was a hot 10 second review. Would love to hear a more detailed pro/con of each feature and benefit. For example, you said the over rotate. The stabil-knee thingy was supposed to prevent that from happening. I know Bauer could care less about your opinion, but an in depth look would be nice so I can decide if I’m buying some or not. Also, they looked like they were a little small on you. Think you might have been better with an XL?
But theyre identical size to my Lefevre 20.1 Like I said I think it's all about you and how you play. Nobody plays the same way. They def dont rotate poorly
@@trav4oilers there the same height, doesn’t mean the knee landing is in the same place. Boot angle or some other factor might play a roll in that. I just saw you pulling up on them in one clip, was thinking they might not fit you right.
Great video bud. Full of a ton of information. It would be really interesting if you were able to get a juiced up set kinda like a McKenna pro stock or something like that. The stock demo set likely not as jazzed up as a pro stock.

How do you get the stick to slide out of your hand like that on pokechecks with all the grip that the Hyperlite stick has? I always find it just sticks to my palm and gets stuck basically.

Hey trav, i just picked up Ultrasonics as well. I noticed you didn't have either the Bauer Professor strap or a third part strap, I would say that made a huge difference in how the pads felt. I also ordered your pro laces a month ago and look forward to getting them and adding them to the pads.
@@trav4oilers Yea I will I'm in the US so figure just take longer with shipping. I would see about using your pro laces and a professor strap and seeing how those Bauer's felt then. I didn't love the Bauer professor, so i bought a custom one from kenesky. Excited to try your laces coming from the crooked "Monster" Branded toe ties.
how do you tie those toe ties you designed behind your skate? What makes them better than most? Rigth now I'm using toe hooks
You tie them through the front and the back hoop. More length = more evenly dispersed stretch on the laces and your joints, armour cord = max durability on the market, lace in version means it'll never come undone and the Trav Spec 2 spacer is what every other pro uses .Consider a money back guarantee. Doesn't get much better than that!

hey Trav i use Bauer Pads Itech gloves Sherwood sticks but I like the Bauer wood goalie sticks great curve Fernand chest gear so I pretty well use different brands of equipment

Hey Monsieur, I tried a pair of Bauer Supremes, at a demo, and I didn't like them. Having said that, just because I didn't like them, doesn't mean that they are not good. Goalie equipment is all personal preference. At least you tried them. Those Vaughn's in the dressing room scene looked pretty hot. SLR 3 coming soon. Nice video!

I wonder how you'd feel about the hyperlite. It sounds like you really need a professor strap. I wondered why you never tried the SLR2.
I like trav but he talked about over rotating even though the stabilislide makes it impossible. he also talked about his toe ties which no company puts on pads and it’s an aftermarket option.
Hey, I've seen a few of your videos, you're making a good job. But in my opinion, if you really like your pants with no suspenders style, you could at least hide the laces from the front and in my personal opinion you should try the suspenders too :)

Nice video. Well, you wore them to one practice. If you had the time, you probably could have dialed the straps in more to your liking along with installing your toe ties.

Pretty interesting, most people would look at today’s goal pads and think they are all the same other than the name. I’ll have to look for more of your videos talking about trappers. The different angles of the break is intriguing, does it depend on where and how you hold your glove? Don’t really get how or why guys turn the glove over when playing the puck, if I did that I would have hurt myself I’m sure. I mean legendary puck handling, goal scoring goalies never shot the puck like this so I am interested in why this alternative was invented. Really enjoying the channel.

Trav, you mentioned Bauer wasnt good for goalies with smaller butterflies. As an aging goalie my flare is reducing. Given that you have tried alot of different pads can you tell me which pads would help me get a better five hole? Thanks
Bauer is NOT. Narrow butterfly dont look good in bauer.
@@trav4oilers I tried Bauer s29 and now I'm using vaughn ventus. I feel like the bauer with the single break below the knee was a better butterfly.
Why not ccm? I use eflex 4s rn i like them so far, just switched from Bauer and I loved my Bauers for hard rebounds and good sliding, but think I made right decision switching to ccm more of a complete package

Trav i myust say my 20.1s have never once over rotated and i’ve had them for 11 months playing 4-6 days a week
How are you strapping them? Cause I did the strapping exactly how the lefevres wanted me to wear them and thats wahtdsup
@@trav4oilers at first, i wore the frs super tight because i’ve liked pads to feel close. it became to tight limiting movement so this off season i took the straps out of the frs and they were like all mismatched w the left pad having a small one on top and big on bottom, and vice versa on the right, so i put the larger straps in the top and smaller on the bottom.
- i strap the top pretty loose (i’d say enough room for 3-4 fingers) with the bottom being pretty snug (1-2 fingers)
- then i bring the knee strap down right along the top of the velcro as tight as i can
- and i do that secure strap just so the tab meets the end of the velcro.
then i have a leather strap which i do five holes deep

Had some bauer 2s pros. Couldn't ply how I usually do. Not my style. To stiff for me. Went back to ccm. Soft style pads with a closed butterfly are my style. Kinda apples to apples.

Also yeah vasilevskiy uses em, but he ain’t the only good one out there. Elvis. Ullmark. Talbot. Gustavsson (although young and unproven). Bishop. Knight (young and unproven). Sorokin (although very fucking wide butterfly and very athletic) are all elite goalies that aren’t as gifted as vasi but look good in them. Used to hate Bauer gear. Still think the visuals aren’t that great. But there new hyperlite stuff I saw first hand and it’s impressive as a more precurved pad and less of a plywood. Sucks you didn’t try that model out

You will probably never see me wear Bauer pads. I used them when I first started out as a kid, using 28s. I still think they are good for a beginner because they’re so light and work great with young kids. Since then, I have been basically alternating Mckenney and CCM Eflex. Those fit your leg much bettrr are use much higher quality materials. Bauer pads are overpriced and their quality sucks. If you’re buying pads 30 inches or more, go with CCM or McKenney.

It's just not my style of pad. Bujan even said to me right after that he knew I wouldn't gonna like them. Just part of the style of pad
Bauers quality is garbage pros use it bc they get replacement gear. But for the regular goalie its tough. I had hyperlite 2s they fell apart and they dont have any stock till july 2024 so they are sending me machs which are two different pads. So pissed off
