Major 7.1 Changes: - Nastrond has been reduced to 1 use but giga buffed - Starcross has a much longer range - Doing Elusive Jump will give you a buff called Enhanced Piercing Talon, which makes your next use of Piercing Talon do increased damage. It's around the damage of Lance Barrage.
THIS IS THE BEST EXPLANATION!! I took a year off playing FFXIV and completely forgot how to play my Dragoon. This explained it SO clearly that I'm excited to jump back in. THANK YOU!! 🤩
Thank you for the video! Really helps seeing the application in-game. Most of all, I appreciate the skill breakdown and how it all weaves together. Haven't played Dragoon since Shadowbringers so this is such a huge help.
Love watching these guides even though I don’t plan on leveling these jobs any time soon. It’s just great to know how these jobs work! Awesome stuff as always
This class is one of those classes where it starts super boring from 1 to 70 but really picks up once u get Nastrond to become one of the most fun classes.
thanks for making this! i was so overwhelmed by the drg changes so i wound up picking up viper and playing it instead. after finishing the msq i’ll go back to my drg roots ❤
If you actually play Dragoon - the Viper class is SOO much easier to understand. Just remember that the Viper class is up close versus Dragoons that can be a little further back. :D
VPR is good to play when my brains on vacation. The biggest reason I like VPR is because my glam for it is immaculate. 3/4 of the scouting glam looks like it was already made for VPR, barely any NIN aesthetics. NIN is a good challenge on controller lol.
Omg incould never get thid part right without causing a big delay in my dps on controller (pc a mouseover macro made this easy) but I agree i am SO glad its gone
Hm. Glad to see this. Main for DRG since I started (though initially my goal was to get to SAM because Cyan Garamonde is one of my favorite characters in the franchise) and I got so worried when Right Eye/Blood of the Dragon was removed... because I didn't realize the Life of the Dragon *damage buff* was a thing.
Been playing DRG since HW and I gotta say, I do like a lot of changes they made with the class BUT.... I hate the choice for general gap closer they gave. It's not very dragoony. Honestly I dont like what they did with everyone's gap closers that had damage tied to them. the animations are sad. anyways, great guides dood. Way better then most guides out there.
My guess is that they had trouble animating a front flip for DRG. That’s my guess. I doubt very seriously when they were considering DRG gap closer that front flip wasn’t one of, if not the, first idea they had. Tbh, I would have rather just got another elusive jump. If I recall, NIN has two free moves (in any direction) so I don’t see why DRG can’t either. Those free moves are life saving
I'm so mad they took away spineshatter dive. Like I'm a dragoon. My function is to jump, not glide. If they wanted to nerf the gap closer damages, they could have left spineshatter and just removed the damage? Would that have been so hard? 😅
As someone who started with Dragoon I was so apprehensive of the changes before 7.0 dropped because "how will they gut it" but I'm happy with the changes tbh
Heeey! Was just thinking bout trying to get back into my Dragoon!! Been a dancer main, but been away for a while, so I have hotbar tunnel vision, so was looking for a job with a more fixed rotation and Dragoon just felt like it might fit the bill!
I really, really like how you did this. Dragoon is my main I do through MSQ, and is a lot of fun. I personally love how it feels. Haven’t hit Dawntrail yet (I had to put off Endwalker end and post stuff for a while) but this helped me make sure I didn’t miss things. Which I did, I did not know I had Winged Glide now. I didn’t see it initially or know about it when I checked abilities so now I need to add it to my hotbar lol.
I will add a disclaimer: Tinctures are not necessary unless you are doing EX/SAV content. If you are new I doubt you have millions to shell away at those things. In lieu of that tincture, use True North. You don’t have to use it during your opener but by the time you hit your two-min burst, there are usually mechanics in play that can make positionals either impossible or challenging to meet. Everything else is pretty on point
Late reply, but dots since endwalker can't crit anymore, so chaos thrust is largely unaffected by battle litany. Depending on team composition and fight, the 3rd gcd is the usual spot for raid buffs. Lance charge (Blood for Blood) DOES affect the dot's damage though, which is probably why it's applied on 2nd gcd
I just came back to the game after months away due to not having the extra money. And... I... am not getting this. The old DRG rotation was so smooth with its perfect figure 8 of abilities, and I am tripping all over this new one. After I trigger geirskogul I fumble it up so bad that I don't even get off my last cast of nostrand before the bar empties. And why is mirage dive so late in the rotation? I'm really thinking of retiring DRG over this. I know rotations change with updates, but normally they get a little simpler or more streamlined. Really kinda bummed out by this.
I’m ashamed to accept that I’ve been a fake main DRG all this time 😢 how did I reached lvl 100 without knowing there IS AN ACTUAL GAP CLOSER!! I always used Dragonfire Dive as my gap closer

DRAGOON MAINS UNITE!!! MEGASTAR ADDED THR ONLY 'OPENER N ROTATION' SEGNENT TO A GUIDE VIDEO TO THE ONLY JOB THAT MATTERS *O*
thanks for making this! i was so overwhelmed by the drg changes so i wound up picking up viper and playing it instead. after finishing the msq i’ll go back to my drg roots ❤
i think i mostly got overwhelmed by the fact that we didnt have to delay life of the dragon anymore and it messed my brain up LOL
@@senipiehonestly, same tbh. Also bring back spineshatter dive 😭 I miss a bouncy gap closer
@@kimtendo7488 LOL yeah i still weave in the new gap closer and use it during bursts even though it doesnt have any effect 😂😂
after trying Viper i realized i can only play Dragoon
How? VPR is probably the second-easiest class in the game.
@@StriderZessei thats probably the reason why

NIN is a good challenge on controller lol.
@stanktatiousd7732 that's my brain on reaper lol.
I am stealing your hotbars (Also awesome video! really informative for a new dragoon without being overbearingly long
After being gone for so long I needed this refresher.
Im glad they got rid of dragons gaze, now i dont have to look at my team mates anymore lol
Omg incould never get thid part right without causing a big delay in my dps on controller (pc a mouseover macro made this easy) but I agree i am SO glad its gone

Your guides are always great! Many thanks.
Your videos are always easily digestible for Sprouts like me! Keep up the good work!
I wish the gap closer animation was like side stepping on the target
like going zig zag

amazong as usual, thank you for being so helpful!
better than old video guide ,keep it up
I personally go to Falcon's Nest in Coerthus to practice Dragoon moves uwu
i respect this
Any particular reason why?
@@megamanblack4309 Closest to Ishgard, which is the Dragoon place.
FINALLY I CAN LEARN THIS JOB
Thank you for making this guide for me 😌
Yo that's starting to be really smart guides.
I LOVED THES VIDEOS, keep em coming!
Started to main DRG to lvl 70. Love it. Switched to machinist. Having a hard time going back.
As someone who started with Dragoon I was so apprehensive of the changes before 7.0 dropped because "how will they gut it" but I'm happy with the changes tbh
And they say viper is busy! And im all for more classes getting double weaves! Also I might finally go back to dragoon after this guide!
DRG LOVE! it's pretty fun man.
Heeey! Was just thinking bout trying to get back into my Dragoon!! Been a dancer main, but been away for a while, so I have hotbar tunnel vision, so was looking for a job with a more fixed rotation and Dragoon just felt like it might fit the bill!
great video! keep it up
I've been a dragoon main for a few years and backflipping off the map is still my favourite thing to do Lmao 😂
I've been thinking about dragoon for the past month I guess this video just seals my fate I must play dragoon
There's my Lala Dragoon! :D
Dragoon was the first job I played when I started the game… it gave me carpal tunnel… now I main healer…
Dra (2ability)goon (2ability) is (2ability) fun (2ability)
ty very nice
I really, really like how you did this. Dragoon is my main I do through MSQ, and is a lot of fun. I personally love how it feels.

YEAHHHHHH THE BEST FLOOR TANK
I just now noticed that it's called Lance Charge now instead of blood for blood.
I will add a disclaimer: Tinctures are not necessary unless you are doing EX/SAV content. If you are new I doubt you have millions to shell away at those things.

Why did they get rid of Dragon Sight?
Ah the dragoon rework that feels pretty much the same but got a bit of a tune up. Still busy, still bursty, still dragoon.
bruh why a glide instead of spineshatter dive? dragoons must jump!
I’m new to the game lvl 43 how do you get a spear like that and when would I come across it
can you do samurai next please (attempt #2)
So you can double weave with potions now?
Wait, when did they make it possible to double weave with a tincture?
So you canot move to other direction while doing combo?
Why wouldnt you do Blood for Blood and Battle Litany prior to Chaos Thrust?
Late reply, but dots since endwalker can't crit anymore, so chaos thrust is largely unaffected by battle litany. Depending on team composition and fight, the 3rd gcd is the usual spot for raid buffs. Lance charge (Blood for Blood) DOES affect the dot's damage though, which is probably why it's applied on 2nd gcd
why not use life surge on dragonfire dive? it has more potency
Life Surge affects GCDs only, Dragonfire Dive being an oGCD means that it would be unaffected by life surge
Which guide will come out next?
thanks
Which spear its this?
Omega from ultimate raids
Jumping off the arena? Kinda but also resetting all of your progress on the Kugane tower :P
I think dragoon should have a move called Dragons Hide 10% damage reduction 2 charges
I am so sad first they got rid of our teather now the gaze! and one of jumps? I hope the future is kinder to dragoon.
I need a ninja idiots guide

never knew dragoons have winged dive o_o
If you mean Winged Glide, it's a new addition in dawntrail to replace Spineshatter Dive, the previous damaging gap closer
Got DRG to level 100 but don't play it because just way too many buttons
Ive been a Dragoon main forever, floor tanks unite!
This double weaving will surely be cumbersome on console ;(
One of the most underwhelming jobs in FFXIV.
I played and am pretty good with almost all jobs but I love playing dragoon mainly cause your a walking nuclear bomb with your two explosive jumps 😂
