7.01 Major Changes: - Lightspeed has 2 charges and it's cooldown has been reduced to 60 seconds. - Astral/Umbral Draw is now 55 seconds - Macrocosmos Damage got buffed from 250-270
Why did you pronounce Synastry like that? It's literally basic English. I'm sorry but dude.... wow. You don't put emphasis on the A. it's not ''synnASSTRay'' LOL. It's more like ''Sinistree''
I started Astro before the rework and started leveling it more afterwards, and it confused the heck out of me. Your guide's gonna make it a lot easier to understand it now!
It's simple, the only major changes were to the cards. The cards are no longer just damage buffs and include niche uses to powerful effects like damage mitigation, shield, heal increase... Then damage plus more for ranged or melee
It's a bit tough, but once you get some practice using the abilities it feels REALLY good when everything is working. Definitely the hardest healer to learn but the most fun to play IMO.
Try malefic on two or less targets Gravity on 3 or more Use lord of crowns when available Keep your combust up If you do that you should be better than a good portion of astrologian players lol
A rotation... with what skills... is this a fake post? If you need a rotation for 1x single target skill, 1x DoT skill, and 1x AoE skill then I don't think there's any saving you O.o;;
It’s been my main too since heavensward! I still miss the stormblood era card system tbh. That enhanced spear with time dilation followed by celestial opposition was my favorite buff.
Gotta say your content for DT is leagues above your older videos. Not that they were bad, but I feel like you've really hit a good niche in the way you create your videos now. I like that you throw in little bits of optimisation too, like advising people to only ever use Benefic 1 if you're synced.
I wish I'd been able to see this video before I tried to play AST in one of the nier raids the other day! I hadn't realized the new cards were different, I assumed the umbral card were, other than the spear, the same as the astral ones? not that it would have saved that nier raid >.> in any case, Thanks for the vid, and you got the glamour on point as always!
Thank you. I was just figuring out astro when they did the update. it was so daunting to me (I'm a sprout and never played healer before) to the point I just went back to summoner
im often referring back to this video when i have no idea how a certain ast ability works this is video is helpful and very easy to understand, thank you
Horoscope also works with helios, not just the aspected helios/conjunction. Depending on the amount of damage taken, you would want to use either helios or aspected helios/conjunction.
AST is such a fun healer. It has straight forward OGCD heals/damage reduction like Celestial Opposition/ Intersection / Exaltation when you need them, and powerful delayed heals with Earthly Star and Macrocosmos which are trickier to pull off but feel so good when they work. not to mention buff cards! The better I get at playing it the more satisfying it is!
Astro really, *really* appeals to me, but it’s the job I find perhaps the most intimidating. I’d be very interested in a follow up vid diving into play strategy, mechanics, etc. from your perspective 😊
I am coming in the comments asking for a more in depth guide. I love your guides, I don’t think I could play without them. They’re in perfectly plain English.
I like what the rework did to the cards. While they aren't random anymore, they actually feel impactful, rather than "give to melee, give to ranged". I also like using Ewer, Bole, and Aspected Benefic as my "Forget about the tank for a while" buttons
Every job I main has changed drastically in 7.0 😮💨 I'm not going to beg for content or anything, and I imagine these videos are a ton of work, but can't wait for your next guide 👌 just knowing what the different buttons are and how they might interact is more than enough information to go on. Squenix should provide guides like that already
Bless you! When I got back to leveling AST once Dawntrail was released I was so confused! 🤣 For some reasons reading the tool tips just isn’t as effective for my dumb brain as a video. 😅 Subscripted! 👍❤️
Blizzard spells restore MP on use. (2500/5000/10000 depending on Umbral ice stacks) Thunderhead is just an indicator you can use Thunder. Thunder is now an instant cast always and is stronger than Endwalker. (And has no thunder cloud to deal with.) Paradox now only exists in astral fire and automatically gives a Fire starter proc (free fire III) instead of just a praying on a star and is also an instant cast. And the only other change in astral fire is the addition of Flare star at the end. (Which is available after using either Fire IV 6 times, or Flare Twice) Besides those changes Endwalker BLM to Dawntrail BLM is only changing a bit of muscle memory.
I do sincerely appreciate your guides, they have been very helpful. Would you consider doing an in depth rotation guide for healers? I love playing them but I feel like I still stumble on occasion. I would definitely request it if you feel okay tackling it.
as sprout level 100 SCH, seeing astro is like playing a piano. Compared to SCH or WHM, is defo much harder since both of them pretty straight forward while astro has a lot of what if moment. if this do this, if that do that, if this card give to this, other give this. Love it will try leveling it up after level 100 WHM (now 70). im at MSQ 80 now, but with level 100 sch, which is numb down the rest of the abilities, prolly will use WHM forward (or astro)
Oh damn am I actually first? Thanks for this guide! I've always wanted to get into Astro but I just do not understand it at all - your guides are always so simple & clear, so hopefully I can start learning it!
I will be honest, I started playing AST in HW because I always loved time/gravity magic, but I always end up going back to it (no matter what changes) because of the animations. I mostly stick to easy content, so it doesn't happen much, but nothing feels as good as using the AST LB3 when the rest of your group wipes in an 8 man or alliance raid or something. (I suppose in hard content you can't really salvage a run like that anyway)
Hey, first time healer here. Wouldn’t you want to follow “Synastry” with “Essential Dignity” instead of “Benefic-II” since it has 900 heal below 30%? Like in situations where you Rez and do that? Or is there context I’m missing?
For whatever reason the heal style of Astro just doesn't click with my brain. My main healer is a Sage, and I can play White Mage reasonably well and have a blast, but Astro just feels so clunky to me. Maybe it just comes down to needing more experience to know how and when to use all the resources. Scholar was a bit of a struggle at first too but I'm mostly getting it.
I thought the balance was better on a tank unless its picto or blm because a tank does like 80% dmg of a melee dps or something. 😂 Ill do what you said i aint trying to min/max all that. Tbh ill just probably fat finger it and give it to myself lol
The thing that is tripping me up with 7.0, is how to even proc Astral and Umbral draw. Where does it Proc from? No one has ever mentioned it and most, like this video, just gloss over it. I have no idea how to play Astro now.
Got the level 90 job skip , and I think I got a good grasp of it , tooke me a few hours to memorize what each card does , went into a level 90 dungeon w hours later and it was not bad 😅
I have to say, I LOVE the card rework, I HATED the RNG aspect of this job before, and I think this is a lovely compromise I've never been so happy to play Astro again after Endwalker
Why do you say that you only need level 30 to unlock Astrologian but everywhere I search, it says level 50 and you need to finish A Real Reborn because you need to reach the city of Ishgard?
I played it before too. I can assure you it's not as hard as you think. All the changes if anything make it easier to guarantee nobody dies. The MIT and healing overtime card can be slapped on whenever. Same with the shield and heal increase. You got it babe I have faith 🥳😌
Even with this guide it's complete nonsense. As soon as I hit level 80+ I am struggling and the further I get by the time I hit early End dungeons I am getting creamed and failing raids left right and center. I hate classes with no mobility and at level 80+ I feel like a useless black mage of healing. Terribad not worth the effort as soon as I hit 100 I am dumping and never coming back.
idk why people say to use benefic 2 or cure 2. I️ have NEVER been so desperate that I️ needed to use “ “ 2, unless the tank dips greatly because they’ve run out of cooldowns. Idk why this is a thing tbh.
As you get through more and more expansions, cure 1 REALLY isn't worth it... The potency of the heal drops off so much eventually. I had your thinking back in ARR and hw but I tried the difference out at the end is ew.. it won't amount worth the cast imo
I feel the new card system makes it harder to play, and i enjoy that. Ast feeling hard is why i played it in the firsr place forever ago. I just hate how long the cooldowns are.
the new card system is not harder to play coz the order for it is "fixed", u have no RNG now, but being AST the gimmack as AST, its becoz u should never know wat card u draw and use the "watever" u draw card. When its fixed now, u can just hold the certain card for it becoz no more rng and always 3 cards with u, the identity as AST is gone becoz of this new card system.
@@angelking1989 RNG was never their identity...Their identity was the healer that could further support their allies with cards that have different effects, which they have more of now than in ShB and EW. Honestly, RNG for a class in an MMO isn't good design and I'm glad it's gone and so are the majority of AST players apparently.
Why do the cards have to be random and what's the benefit? It's identity is in tarot readings and those while random are WHAT? Based on cycles. Each card a step in it's cycle or suit.

Same, lvl to 61 a while ago and lvling again and kind of lost.
@@heat15sw I have them in order so its draw, play 1, play 2, play 3... itll take some time but theyre all beneficial
It's a bit tough, but once you get some practice using the abilities it feels REALLY good when everything is working. Definitely the hardest healer to learn but the most fun to play IMO.
@@gwelengu It's a lot of fun for sure! Once I learned the new card mechs, it was so much fun to play again. It's favorite right behind Sage.
Just picked up Astro today, this video helps a ton! I would love to see a rotation video too :D
Try malefic on two or less targets
Gravity on 3 or more
Use lord of crowns when available
Keep your combust up

I switched to AST as my main healer in DT and I needed this explanation to understand some of the cooldown heals. Thank you very much.
Yay my main. I love Astro. Nothing is better than Astro. Viva La Astro 🎉
*Coughs in Whm*
It’s been my main too since heavensward! I still miss the stormblood era card system tbh. That enhanced spear with time dilation followed by celestial opposition was my favorite buff.
100% agree. Astro is my forever main
@@elgatochurro I’ve been leveling WHM. And it was my first class (conjurer) but maybe it’s cuz I’m still low level.
I'm terrible at it but I have to admit it has the most fun and satisfying healing kit by far when you can pull it off.

Yey, thanksss ….. this makes allot more sense after playing a wile. I watched this when I picked the job up and everything went right over my head

Your guides are so helpful, thanks again for another great one!

this is video is helpful and very easy to understand, thank you
I ended up settling on astro as my pure healer choice, glad i found this guide 🙏
Finally an updated guide. Thank you.
I love all your Idiot Guides, every xpac I need to rewatch the classes I don't play as often so I can be useful in dungeons. Thank you!
Horoscope also works with helios, not just the aspected helios/conjunction. Depending on the amount of damage taken, you would want to use either helios or aspected helios/conjunction.
The line “you see people playing magic the gathering in the street” killed Me
More like Yu-Gi-Oh
ohhhh so this is why you did that leveling astro stream
also love that it was magic the gathering this time instead of yu-gi-oh
Would love a dungeon guide on priority or a section of it! but other than that great video!!!
This clarified so much thank you! Would love to see a your rotation video if you are up for it in your own time!
You're kidding.

Nah, it's your literal job in the game. Least you can do is know it well enough to instantly see the changes. Do your JOB.
Western mindset smh
Thank you for this video, I got ast to 90 in EW (thanks bozja) and I didn't know what half of ast kit does lol

appreciate the video
One thing that's only slightly off, is that you can use either version of helios for horoscope. Other than that, good guide! 👍
Please make another guide covering literally everything about this job pretty please :C
I plan on picking up this job once I reach Heavensward and would love to see a rotation guide
Can’t wait for the BLM guide as I’m so confused by the new changes (as a non-main)!!!
Blizzard spells restore MP on use. (2500/5000/10000 depending on Umbral ice stacks)

Ty for video
Id like to see monk next. Its always been confusing for me now even more so
I have an echo macro for Draws to say "I SUMMON POT OF GREED TO DRAW THREE ADDITIONAL CARDS FROM MY DECK"
I miss the RNG with the cards 😔
Why? Everyone else was pissed when it wasn't Balance
The cards are trash now
imo its the hardest job in whole game but its so rewarding
I use the same top as glamour for my astro! 😊
i've been searching for this top for so long what is it 😭
Im glad we dont have to manage cards anymore and be subject to rng

the astro that was spamming helios in my extreme group needs to watch this.
Neutral sect+sunsign combined with lightspeed an helios spam basically means wipes dont exist in dungeons

Blm trash right now, never give it cards till it's buffed, lol. As a matter of fact, dont even give it a regen card. Let us blm mains suffer.
Is it easier to learn if I only play scholar on savage raid?

Yeah, it unlocks at level 50 but the job starts at level 30 when You put the job stone
i would love a more detailed guide
Do one for RDM Please!!
This job used to be so good and fun in Shadowbringers.. now it's just a mess
It's relatively the same... In fact better. But it plays similarly
This is a strange situation where I actually love all these changes, but I am incredibly intimidated about relearning the job as well.
