I went to see "Horizon - An American Saga part 1" today. The theater was packed, not even ONE empty seat. Beautiful movie, terrific cinematography, great film score. The acting is also excellent. Love it. We will definitely see part 2 and 3.
I never hated Waterworld, and I really like it now. It's damned entertaining. I have trouble with Costner's politics, but I love westerns and can't wait for Horizon (all of it).
Actually the bad reviews from Cannes mostly came from AMERICAN critics who attended the festivals. Go look at Rotten Tomatoes and see for yourself. Now that they’ve done many screenings, there have been significant increase of positive reviews. Also if you wanna talk about Wyatt Earp. Costner originally intended that movie to be a TV series. But back then, TV didn’t have the prestige that it has now. So he was kinda ahead of his time. Then Lawrence Kasdan managed to convince him to turn it into a movie.
@@neutralman9124 RT was as low as 35% in the aftermath of Cannes. Even so, a low score on a website should not be the final word on a film as important as Horizon. Look up Tombstone Metacritic score, and that is a great film.

Tombstone was an "action western" about a moment in time that has been made into a movies 20+ times. James Gardener's version is my favorite. Wyatt Earp was the story of his life and a great movie.
Saw the film Friday. Lots of action, immersive, unpredictable, very R rated, 3 hours felt like 90 mins. Not overly complicated, did a good job of showing the point of view of all groups portrayed. Not always clear who the good guys and bad guys are. I highly recommend it.
@@lauriemhaysom1396 I believe Tombstone came out in 1993 and Costner's Wyatt Earp was released in 1994.
