The modern movie experience in a nutshell:
Studio reboots/remakes/adapts a popular IP for 'today's audience' marketing it on nostalgia, and completely changes the fundamentals that fans actually want, while enticing few new fans either. Then access media attacks the fandom for being toxic. Fandom attacks itself.

my issue w the animation take is that pixar also had turning red this year, a movie that’s definitely getting oscar nominations and, in my opinion, was able to break out of the pixar mold while still being entertaining and fun. i understand that it was a disney plus exclusive and we’ll never know how it would have done in a theatrical release, but it topped the nielsen chart when it premiered and held near the top for a while. pixar will be fine imo

disney+ really ruined disney. if they had just stuck to making movies for theaters and creating high quality tv shows that they can then sell to netflix they would have been golden. but being forced to milk their major franchises and running them into the ground because they dont have the breadth of the other streaming services has seriously damaged their reputation and significantly lowered the quality of their overall output

@@juniorjames7076 I get where you're coming from. Black Widow, Eternals and Thor4 weren't the best movies Marvel has brought. ShangChi and DS2 were good and okay. Though I concur that Waldron wasn't fit for the job and in BTS said he came up with pages of material on the fly.. so yeah. DS2 was doomed.. but it had good moments.. ShangChi was a good movie if just taken for the family drama.
The problem with the MCU is that they finished what was built up since Phase1, culminating in Endgame. And Phase 4 is now that awkward moment where they still have to deal with the consequences of Endgame while just starting the build-up of a new arc culminating in another Endgame-level movie. People are expecting Endgame level productions, but are getting Thor the DarkWorld and IronMan3's in terms of quality (when what we actually want is another CA:WinterSoldier).

I hope you continue w/it, maybe not as career killers but career missteps in the future (so it’s not like we’re hoping for it just to have a vid at year’s end). I think Animation rarely kills careers because the actors face is never in the actual movie so people will forget pretty quickly.
Members of the general public rarely care about who is voicing who that's mostly for fandoms.
Many actors have starred in animated movies that have been badly received and rebounded later with live action work so Chris Evans will be okay if he does good movies going forward.

This is the most entertaining “worst films” videos this week. Really great analysis. Hits all the points of what we are thinking. Those are really bad movies and big disappointments both in front and behind the scenes.
Although I have to say, on this list, it seems like the behind the scenes talents (the directors and screenwriters) are mainly responsible for the failures and not the actors. No one saids Margot Robbie was a bad actress from both films. It was the legendary directors who somehow lost the touch or misfire. I really think people are behaving a bit overly dramatic about Disney and Pixar’s animation studios.. the reality is both studios released INCREDIBLE movies within the last year (Encanto and Turning Red) and animation takes such a long time to produce that the upcoming projects, Elemental and Wish are too far in production to be drastically altered. Additionally I think it’s important to look back on Disneys history and see how it is mirrored in Pixar and even dreamworks! These studios go through major shifts from golden ages, to dark ages, to experimental ages.. I think Pixar is experimenting rn and to act like they need to “go back to the formula” misses the reason that Pixar was so successful in its first decade of life. They didn’t have a formula until Disney bought them.. and that’s when Pixar’s quality first dipped. So point being, yeah Lightyear and Strange World were definitely not good films but to behave as if they are “major blows” to the animation studios is a huge over exaggeration. (Also don’t forget both studios are expanding to accommodate Disney+ needs.. we have Win or Lose, Iwájú, Tiana, and a Moana series all set for release in the next 2 years!)

Cavill has a huge Warhammer 40k development deal that he has strong creative control & his girlfriend of several years being the studio executive at Vertigo... No wonder why Jake was forced to take an AppleTV+ series as his next project.

Anybody who was a bit more familiar with Waititi (New Zealanders) KNEW how unpredictable he is and how he could go completely mental and off the wall comedic with the Thor movie if given more creative control. I still can't believe Marvel gave him free reign to do what he wanted. He even told them that he was gonna make a straight up comedy! And even worse, there are still Waititi defenders out there that think the reason the movie was a disaster was that there was TOO MUCH STUDIO INTERFERENCE! It seems that many in the industry need to learn the hard way. Too bad we had to sacrifice TWO excellent Thor storylines for people to finally realize that Waititi's ego had grown beyond anyone's control.

The Rock was never a big star, delivering a long string of B movies like Rampage, Jungle Cruise, and the Jumanji reboot. Henry Cavill will likely be unhurt by Black Adam--no one cares about cameos. Blood Origin has vindicated his decision to leave the Witcher. We'll see how his Warhammer series does.
