But... but I loved Prometheus a lot more than Covenant.. Am I alone in this?

Covenant was good but Prometheus was amazing all around.
I don't love Prometheus by any margin but it had so much more going for it than Covenant.
Covenant was literally the most disappointing film I’ve ever seen. I loved Prometheus. For once we had a rare and thoughtful sci fi littered with action and horror scenes. It asked big questions instead of rolling out the same old tropes.
Prometheus was sublime since the beginning...people just were looking for xenos and facehuggies. The Engineers are a genius new chapter and should be well represented. I am a fan of alien since I was 9... decades later I still love that xenos...but I'll be damned if I don't connect with the Engineers more. They are terrifyingly interesting. It also did some connections on my brain with the Ancient God's Theory and origins of Man. Prometheus should have its own trilogy.
Prometheus´s plot was utter illogical bullcrap.
I liked Prometheus quite a bit. Some interesting seeds were planted with that movie. But all the pre-release chatter was billing this as an alien prequel, so many people went thinking they were getting an alien movie. Most movie going normies aren't watching and reading interviews with the cast and crew and might not have gotten the message that this was going to be set in the same universe but going in it's own direction. Basically, a whole lot of people boarded the wrong train and didn't like the destination.
Exactly. I was looking for the same like how prometheus was related to the aliens and how it lead up to Alien 1979 and ripley's crew showing up but sadly it didn't go that far. Possibly showing the engineers and aliens fighting eachother.

Prometheus is a masterwork, I love Engineers. And I loved to see less aliens and more engineers. Cause Alien series repeated each other. Didn’t bring something new to the franchise. But with engineers everything turned in a different mysterious direction which made alien a better movie. I hope they will put more engineers on the last one: awakening
Masterwork my backside it wasn't far off being a comedy. Give your head a shake. Scott has lost the plot.
Repeated each other... I always felt the second film evolved off the groundwork from the first. Maybe Alien 3 and Resurrection repeated, but the first two films have great merit.

I went in and watched Prometheus by myself while the rest of the family watched a Disney movie. I didn't expect a good movie, and I was just killing time. I thought it was amazing. Very well done.

Cant happen. Last thing Walter saw was a beheaded/destroyed David. He doesnt have any clue of what he did, and how it led to that. However Engineers can return to the home planet and realize black goo is everywhere.
I always saw the Engineer from Prometheus as being a genetically perfect military type, while the ones in Covenant were the normal unaltered species.
Seth Decker I suspected this too. It is possible that the "soldiers" we see in Prometheus are biologically enhanced to be the muscle and workhorses (or actually advanced organic synthetic beings) on all of the deep space missions while the civilian type on the home world(s) are the scientists and such within a societal framework that is human like.
Though I would prefer that the humanoids in Covent are either a species seeded by Engineers or a core colony of Engineers that have been left in natural form as a sort of nostalgia to their ancient past and that the actual bulk of Engineer beings have biologically enhanced themselves to perfection and are spread all throughout the universe in a variety of colonies and research stations in more advanced living conditions.

Humanoids we saw in Covenant were the seed species from the first scene in Prometheus.
MrZayne. Yeah it does'nt seem like the engineers in covenant were an actual engineers in prometheus. They seemed too primitive,without any technology in that city,just an ancient buildings like aztecs are for human. If it would be an actual prometheus engineer homeplanet ,it should be full of technological advancments in it,but in covenant aliens we just dont see it. It is possibly just it is one of the engineers homeplanet,the ancient planet instead of technological advanced planet as you stated. This theory seems more likely,than it beeing the only planet or the only engineers in it.
I suspect we will see david not only performing on the colonists but also on these military type of engineers thus giving birth to the og alien with its mechanical like appearance, the alien we see in covenant was spawned from a human egg (Shaw) then another human host so we saw a more animalistic humanoid xenomorph.imagine if they were mass produced using the dna of the engineers that we saw in prometheus (which is exactly what happened before the prometheus crew stumbled upon the planet, an outbreak took place.) we would no longer get a deacon (human infecting human egg that infects an engineer). Also the whole franchise has been throwing us hints,we are always shown this type of engineer being horribly mutilated (holes in chest) with the exception of the one we see in Prometheus. Its clear that there was a xenomorph outbreak, but they weren't davids xenomorph, they never were. He is only rediscovering something that they consider to be an abomination to their god and all of creation and they knew we would eventually stumble upon it thus further infecting the galaxy with it. The engineers only wanted to erase us because they wanted to ensure the survival of the entire galaxy. A lot of people believe the first ship was a bomber warship meant to wipe a planet clean which is probably true, but why use xenomorphs when the black goo is obviously much more effective at killing off an entire species with ease. The only explanation i can think of is that there was conflict between the engineers and one faction decided to kill the other faction in order to breed their xenomorphs and turn earth into a xenomorph harvesting planet, but that raises the question of why? What were they trying to prepare for? A mass extinction of galactic proportions so they could start everything over? Hmmm
Given the gap between Prometheus and Covenant, then I guess we should expect Awakening in 2022. I loved Prometheus, but I thought Covenant was a bit too dark, slow and predictable .. t just went down the wrong path. It also looked cheaply made, whereas the Prometheus sets, design, technology were second to none, amazing. I really look forward to seeing the Engineers again.

My Prometheus complaints vanished when I saw the deleted scenes. I wish they had left them in the movie.
All out war sounds amazing! I love the alien series from an early age, I totally loved the way Ridley went with Engineers in Prometheus, I was a bit disappointed of them playing so little part in Covenant but like it pretty much nevertheless.
Ridley is not making anymore movies, Fox is gonna find a director too take over, but Ridley might swing by the set here and there while filming. But the good part is the script is already written and it's Ridley's, and I'm sure fox will get a director fit for the canon

Prometheus and Alien Covenant are supposed to be shit BUT how much discussion both are generating is ridiculous. I absolutely love both because they add so much mystery to Alien. Beautiful sets, fantastic effects, great music and a twisted storyline that leaves so much room to explore. I grew up with Alien & Aliens but I love the new movies because they make me feel & think.

Covenant is a mixture of Prometheus and Aliens ( James Canerons ) strongly focused on David and his masterplan of creating a species dark and twisted like his himself. A Android without a soul that dispeses Humans and other biological Life forms...like Data from Star Trek mixed with the Devil creating the most dangerous life form possible.
I hope in Awakening we will follow the engineers story leading to hunting David. I also hope ( still ) that there is an Black Goo planet that actually is the home planet of the original Xenomorph and David is just trying to recreate the Alien because his Weyland Yutani programing forces him...

Prometheus was one of the best story of the Alien franchise and i thought that the way that Alien covenant went was an insult to the fans who always wondered how things all started with the ingeneers and how things led to there demise from their

There should have been a sequel between Prometheus and Alien Covenant showing doctor Shaw and David arriving to their planet and how things started to go downward after their arrival there and trying to make friends of them and how David suddenly turned on Doctor Shaw and made her the craddle of his creation to seek revenge on all life in the cosmos specially humans since they were created by the ingeneers and how he made it a poetic justice to take the ingeneers supposidly perfect ceation and transformed it into their perfect worse nightmare that caused the downfall of their civilisation all together Justr because of the way one of them treated him in Prometheus by pulling off his head and treating him like a low life human because he was created by them .
That would have sounded a lot more like the android Ash from the first movie who blew his fuse on Ripley for treating him like shit the way she did
All the Alien movies, Prometheus and Covenant are awesome. Hope they keep the hype up and keep releasing more movies.
The movie will be about Walter and David leading armies against each other in a huge battle. Imagine the third Hobbit movie but with robots. At the end it's revealed that Walter and David merge into one android who then creates Ash from the original Alien.
Having initially been sceptical about these films they are both infact well thought out and well made. Well done Ridley a great addition to the franchise and I look forward to the next one. One thibg - please no giant octopus!

I'd like it explained that David didn't "invent" the xenomorph, maybe just learned how to bioengineer his own xenomorphs based on engineer logs. To me the idea that the xenomorph is something that came about naturally is much more sinister and terrifying than having David just cook them up in a lab

I find it hard to see how they will link Awakening's as a direct follow up to Alien? for one, There is no technology continuity. I never understand why movie makers need to update the tech for prequels? They do it every time! Star Wars, Star Trek, to name a few. I would of prefered a 1970s/1980s vision of the future that kept in keeping with the original idea. that's just me though....

at least the nostromo was a mining vessel it would have been out of date without the latest features like the medical pod. obviously you are right but Fox/Disney isn't selling the movie to just Alien original fans they are therefore mainstreaming it.

In Prometheus they were scientists on an advanced and expensive human ship. in Alien they were space truckers on a generic space ship that couldn't even handle landing on a rock without everything exploding inside. That's why the tech was different
Remember too that Ridley said that there are "could be many of him" regarding the xeno. So not just Davids creation, but obviously the Engineers xeno. Remember the mural in the ampule room the alien and the whole alien life cycle was represented there..
I loved Prometheus ♥ and I wasn't disappointed with the soulless android David's actions in Covenant!

Yeah, on the outside they look alike but on the inside they are wayyyyy different. The ship in alien is way more symbiotic than the one in Prometheus. But hey, we do get another alien movie so we will see!

Prometheus in retrospect is a vital movie that has a major role in connecting the dots and explaining the universe of Aliens and even Predators. The problem wasn't the movie, it was the audience. For years the Alien Franchise targeted and attracted main stream audience that preferred horror, thriller, and action genre. The Audience didn't expect Prometheus to be what it was. But Like I said before, looking back at it. Without Prometheus we wouldn't have this sudden boom of Lore and Historical background in the Alien franchise.
I think it would be cool if the Engineers actually had the original xenomorphs and then they had an all out fight with David's xenomorphs.
Like the two prequels, there is a deep meaning in almost every scene in those movies. The poster for Alien Covenant to me is actually a reference to "The Gates of Hell" by Auguste Rodin, which depicts a scene from the Inferno of Dante Alighieri. I never expected a fight between engineers and aliens in this movie. ;)
I disagree that humans need to be present or the lead in all franchises or every movie in a franchise. I wish Hollywood would grow out of that conception.

I can tell you about the upcoming sequel. First, a ship is sent to investigate something. When they get there they are hunted down by a xenomorph. Lots of people are killed. Eventually the xenomorph is killed or one person escapes.
I think we will see Xeno, Deacon, Neo, trilobyte, old engineers , young engineers, male engineers, female engineers, baby engineers, peasant engineers, Alpha engineers , Beta engineers, 10 davids, Ripley's mother, Ripley's father, Ripley's brother, Ripley's sister, The Thing from the Thing, Predators, King xeno, Queen Xen....oh no there is no need because david births xenos, superman, spiderman, batman, godzilla, lions, elephants, John cena, Rock, Brock Lesnar and Katty Perry. Ridley Scott gonna fix everything now .... dont you worry real alien fans.

Personally wouldn't mind seeing the Queen in a new story with something new to do, but I don't think Ridley Scott likes the Queen because James Cameron came up with it in his film. Scott seems very bitter when other people make things Alien related
David and Aliens vs Engineers in an all out war, it will be awesome.
There's still one neomorph wandering around that Covenant planet, I'm sure when the Engineers return that the two will run into each other.
The Engineer's coming back in larger numbers would be so cool. They would most likely have colonies on other planets, so to see them reacting to David's carnage and going after him and the aliens as well as the humans would be great. I always was very fascinated by the Engineers and loved Prometheus so I've just wanted more of them.
Won't that divert the franchise towards a typical alien races vs humans plot as opposed to the xenomorph horror genera?
Maybe when the engineers return back and starting to scream and cry about what happened and then Davied comes back with a ship full with aliens and saying in there language "its me who destroy your planet" or something
End the alien franchise and continue with the engineers. The imagination and mystery with the xenomorph is done. We all want something new. Like the engineers planet and weaponry and why they created humans and why do they want to destroy us. So many qs.

If this is still the plot and we eventually get this. This is going to be perfect if it goes like this. The engineers are enraged and they follow David and it ends on lv-426 perfectly setting up the ruins for the first alien film. Although. They did say the space jockey was dead for a while
I’ve always felt that the “engineers” at the beginning of Prometheus looked more like a pacifist, religious group. They seemed so gentle.
When I saw the Planet Paradise scene and David drop the black spooge, I wanted to see that film. Not all the "engineers" dying, but Shaw and David going there and some back story with subs on the planet. Maybe they detect the ship coming into the system and that's why so many gathered.

I for one loved Prometheus my favourite film out of the series by far!! Engineers were badass & I absolutely want more engineers!! Pissed off Engineers is good engineers!! I really wish they didn't kill off the girl Shaw though ...but oh well lol. I found Prometheus to be more of an adventurous film rather then horror to be honest , even the theme music gave it this wonderful adventurous tone , & then covenants theme tune was straight up sci-fi horror, but both tunes sounded extraordinary! Brilliant masterpiece really ! Although covenant wasn't what I expected or wanted I still enjoyed it ! Alien awakening sounds more promising , more engineers is the way to go ! Head to head with the aliens , David , the humans , maybe an alliance will be made , who knows ... exciting!
Ridley Scott retracted his statement that the people on Planet IV were Engineer's several months ago after the Fox takeover. He also clarified that Covenant was not set on the Engineer's home world. Disney and 20th Century have since confirmed that if Alien Romulus, which Scott's company is producing, Scott will get to finish his prequel story.
I just so hope that Xenomorphs will be revealed to be creation of engineers originally and used by them.. and ones that David created are sort of inferior/earlier versions. as I don't like single idea that an android could create the xenomorph we all love when it clearly was around before the events of Prometheus alone.
The engineers are responsible for the evolutionary history and the Deacon/Neomorph types. The murals of Prometheus proved as much. They worshiped the notion of the perfect organism which can be seen in the way they laid out the canisters of black goo as an offering to the large head(which looks an awful lot like an Elder from the alternate intro of Prometheus) also the crucifix position of the Deacon on the mural is telling. Of course the engineers never achieved the perfect organism. That's where David comes in. David is the perfectionist, but he did not create the species, just guided its evolution.
Cynderfan35 Dude the Xenomorphs were there before the engineers. All David did was learn about this past of the engineers aboard the ship and tried replicating it so he can make it better.

Also is fucks up the overall Alien and Predator universe - as the comics had the space jockeys and predators as enemies.
i understand what all here try point out but i just brought out my feelings on single idea of david creating anything more than what we have seen and that it would be based on he learns what was already discovered. it would really take away the mystery if everything would be creation of.. single machine.

YES, YES, YES....finally Ridley Scott is on the right track. I want the Alpha Engineers to see what David has done using Walter as a clue and hunt David down and take him out and have an all out war. David and his Xeno half-breeds vs Alpha Engineers who create life have no violent tendencies but can whoop your ass if you provoke them. Then the original Alien movie should fall in line and the trilogy will make sense.

I would like to see a direct sequel to Alien where Ripley wakes up from hypersleep having had a dream about Ridely Scott making a bunch of dreadful prequels. No more Engineers, no more endless varieties of whatever-morphs, no more re-imaginings of the Alien life cycle, and DEFINITELY no Davids or Walters or any other obnoxious androids with god-complexes. They were all just a bad dream.
The Space jockey gets to retain his mystique as a petrified remnant so alien that he's beyond our comprehension and from a race that died out thousands of years before humans even evolved.

The engineers were awesome. I loved Prometheus and loved the f/x. Ridely Scott made a big mistake killing off Shaw. She was the new Ellen Ripley. Tough and intelligent. Covenant should have picked up where Prometheus left off.
If we're going to see more of the Engineers I would likk to see them using far more advanced technology than was demonstrated in the last 2 movies. Their technology is at least 10's of millions of years ahead of our own so we should see faster than light travel and NO hibernation pods. Their weapons should be equally impressive as well. Kind of like ancient samurai going head on against M1Abrams tanks and B-52 bombers.

Everyone stop bitching. I'm just glad to see any kind of movie that is remotely related to the alien trilogy. Prometheus, alien covenant, and alien awakening are a backstory. It won't make sense until they are all 3 completed.
Series redemption, amazing, exactly what needs to happen, as long as Awakening is full of Engineers then I'm more than happy.
AC was an off-world colony mutiny by a single sociopathic skin job(who murdered the 2 he rescued in Prometheus,kiled an entire Engineer city,his brother Walter,some more of the Covenant crew)S'yeah really not an Alien film,felt more like the story the Chief tells Rik Deckard in the OG BladeRunner....:).....

I think it would be cool if Tennessee was the protagonist in Alien awakening! It make sense because him and Daniel's were the only ones who survived in Alien Covenant and well OBVIOUSLY Daniels didnt make it sense she knew David was in the ship at the last second and we know David will use her for his sick experiments... but Tennessee doesnt know who David is or the fact that he's the bad guy. I think itll be pretty cool to see Tennessee as the main character in Awakening 😭❤
I don't want stupid deaths, for f**k sake they are advance . I want the engineers to be able to scan get info and realize what David did , then when they catch up to him they assess what he has created and not by stupidity but by numbers unsurmountable numbers are the engineers beaten. No bs mistakes like the stupid humans they have to be beaten by numbers, so many xenomorphs that they loose not some Engineer walks up to an egg and whoops gets a face hugger if that shit happens I'm walking out the effin theater!!!

Things we should know from common sense and observation: 1.You just know that Walter will be found by the returning Engineers investigating Paradise.
2.We have never seen the Human faction separated by classes so it's safe to assume that Wayland/Yutani will be a combination of Marine,Support, Company so that's another faction
5.The Alien/Xenomorphs faction including David as the creator is another.
4.I am certain however there will be a new appearance possibly the Engineer Gods shown throughout the Engineer architecture to show. I think we will finally get provided answers that have been withheld throughout this trilogy.
I expect the Engineers capably brutalizing the xenomorphs.
prometheus & covernant are a very good example how a prequel/sequel should be done! it is adding something to the previous universe, but still feels like a real alien movie. i hated to see what happend to star trek & star wars.. but this francise here is doing everything very well! cant wait for the next one

I'm happy that Ridley is doing another movie with the Engineers. I liked Covenant, I thought he did a good job. I wish there could have been more screen time with the Engineers but I'm satisfied with the movie. Awakening sounds like it would be a good movie. I. know I'll watch it.
What about a movie in the future that goes through what Newts colony goes through leading up to Aliens?
Alien Isolation 2 video game, play as Newt and see the colony be infested with the xenomorphs and survive until the CMs show up with Ripley.

You won't ever be able to satisfy the fans, Ridley so don't try. We live in an age where people profit off making videos that try to poke holes in even the best series. Prometheus was an intellectually driven film that could have been better but was by no means horrible or terrible. Alien Convenant was your answer to the fans complaints and tbh you should not have listened to a word they said and just kept on going with the theme of scientific exploration and discovery instead of going for the stereotypical action-horror route. tl;dr Stick to your guns next time and you'll win the fans over given enough time, but show weakness by listening to them, and you'll only continue to be shitted on by them.

I think the alphas probably created the original xenos, and all that. But I think the space could be like some organic computer, like an alpha is bread to be integrated, and the ship is grown around it. It's how different both ships are, in Prometheus, the ship was more rounded, while in alien, the ship was more straight. And also the bridge seems to have a seating station for the crew in Prometheus, while we don't see stasis pods, or console in alien.

Prometheus gets a bad rap and there were only a few scenes left out that added to what people are picking at...
What did the engineer say to David? There is a scene deleted where he talks to David!
The biologist didn't just fall in love with a goo infected snake… They came across it before it mutated!
This brings up one key question that will show the direction David is going in and why:
Did he kill Shaw or did she die and then he was honoring her and away by continuing his work with her as his "queen?"
I don't doubt that he loved her but what his concept of love is, is what's in question; maybe he tried to kiss Shaw, or thought about it, but never did... when he kissed female lead who acted well but I didn't get to know well enough to remember her name… David asked something along the lines of "is this how it's done?"
Sir Scott didn't just throw that kiss in for kicks!
Prometheus focused on characters enough for us to care about them and wonder what else there was to the character; covenant had some great performances and, four characters I cared about… the Tennessee's, David, and Walter... I guess there's a deleted scene with Franco and the female lead who I almost cared about(great performance) but that was replaced by discovering a face in a pool of water 15 times.
The engineers we saw in covenant seemed to be primitive or elders perhaps… not etherial as Prometheus' engineers. Mystery is good, especially when you're trying to tackle fear of the unknown but there are some gaping holes of content that need to be addressed in the next movie.
Also more character development and less floating face on repeat... Dan the Man, damn the fan, focus on your empire!
Yes that planet in covenant movie IS engineers planet, its their birth planet.
the engineers in prometheus are actually xeno-engineers (take note of their eyes) that the elder engineers created
the engineer sacrifice at the waterfall was not on Earth. so no, humans did not come from Engineers DNA
the giant dead fossil dude in Alien movie is NOT AN ENGINEER, its actually a higher being
the engineers are the ones trying to copy that fossil dude's TECH, hence the similarity but you'll fiind out why later on
the engineers in the birth planet were actually trying to greet the higher being who created them (you'll see their carved head in their hall)
covenant movie showed us the good or rather the naive engineers, the xenomorphs and also you'll see glimpse of whos gonna be in next moive; those are the hints
this is not a scifi thriller, this is scifi mystery. so Alien boys can take a hike because this is about mystery of creation
lastly, Prometheus is a masterpiece. so stop being a bitch people. stop complaining like they ruined your life. only you yourself can ruin your life

Your videos kick! Your storyline fixing the story is awesome. I would have liked to have seen your idea on film. Hopefully Awakings will be all you imagine. An Aliens mixed with Alien 3 and Resurrection, at least with variant xenomorphes. Oh, and the neomorphs are an excellent addition.
