Thanks for the description. I got the P0498 code a day after hitting a pothole and blowing a strut (2018 Odyssey). Looking underneath I see a cut wire on the connection to the passenger side of the canister, which appears to be opposite the valve. Anyway, not sure how the pothole caused that to break, but it did.
i have a 2009 Acura TSX throwing two codes. P0135 and P0498. I have replaced the EVAC solenoid, Oxygen sensor and purge valve. Still getting the codes. Any ideas?
I have another EVAP code (P1454) and in my effort to see if the vent valve was associated I disconnected it while the engine was running and it threw that P0498 code! LOL I'll have to clear that code to continue diagnosing P1454.
I have replaced the vent valve canister and the purge valve.. still getting the same code I don't see any leaks or any cables that are stripped or anything like that ??
if you replaced both check the harness and check the fuzes for me fuze 14 by engine bay is FI sub relay and the white positive cable goes from the evap canister vent to that 14 fueze
Had this code come up lately on our 2020 odyssey. Had my family mechanic replace with aftermarket valve and after one drive the check engine light came back on. We then tried a Honda certified valve and initially the check engine light was off but the Next time driving it came back on! I brought it into Honda and they are telling me a the two week old valve needs to be replaced. I told them it's bigger than that as we just replaced it with their part. Ahhhh ... We have had some battery failings lately as well but the battery checks out every test, mostly just some charging needed. Is this connected anyone think?
Will cause the both O2 sensors to stop working I’m getting this code P0498 P0155 P0134 and P0135 plus car operating in Open loop and it will not come out OBD2 code says due to system failure any help or suggestions would be much appreciated car is a 2010 Honda accord 3.5 V6 coupe thanks
Yeah I have the same codes on my 2010 Acura mdx I changed all four 02 sensors and the codes came rate back. I just tested my purge valve and it’s closed so I’m gonna change that out and probably gonna change out the vent valve plus the fuse and hopefully this will take care of the issue.
I had the P0456 code (2011 Honda CR-V), I had the canister & vent Solenoid changed, on the way home from mechanic shop, the code was off, But when I got home and restarted SUV later that night, the check engine light came on right away. Does the system need to relearn or will the light go back off. Or do I have other problems?
There is likely still an issue. You can clear the code and see if it come back again, but if it was cleared and came back there is likely still a problem.
hi, i have the code p0498 in my civic coupe 08/EX/MT, but when i going to check my canister thats close in the fuel tank i can see thats totally different to all canister that there on the market or webs sites for the replacement, so i really confused, anybody can help me?
I’ve replaced both parts (purge valves) other than the canister anyone have any suggestions what it might be causing cel? thinking it could be a fuse or wiring no different in driving or gas mileage
I would check the vent valve (its separate from the purge valve), vent valve wiring, and fuse. It could also be an EVAP leak but usually that gives other codes.
you keep taking about all kind of problems can happen, but never motioned what kind of problem! misfire, bad idle, hesitation on acceleration, burning rich or may be lean
@@ahoorakia Usually the engine light comes on and the vehicle can't pass an emission test but often there is no other symptoms. If the purge valve is stuck open it can sometimes cause a vacuum leak, otherwise usually there is no other symptoms.
Best video yet! Good to see both solenoid there with clarification

I am having rough idle and can smell gas vapors coming out from fuel cap. Is that normal or should I replace the fuel cap?

I saw the code and the client said it's consuming excess fuel. What could be responsible for that?

I have crank and fuel but no start can this be the cause? This is the only code that I have.
The Evap system is for emissions and wouldn't effect the engine starting.
What was the issue

The problem is a Honda P0498 EVAP Code
@@whyingo7964 What kind of symptom did we have, that we end up checking the codes that lead us to P0498
